Hi! i love your art! And I'm curious about something: what do you think of the staff? And which is your favorite?
thank you! ❤️❤️❤️ I LOVE the staff, I wish we got to see more of them -- every once in a while we'll get a little side bit of them interacting with each other and it's always SO good. (for that and more proof that EHN is the best event, see: the teachers trying to hold their own Halloween party without Crowley noticing because they don't want to invite him. why was this one scene and not a long-spanning subplot like it deserved to be. we were robbed.)
I have probably made it pretty obvious which of the staff is my favorite, because I love characters who are huge morons who couldn't read a room if they had industrial-strength prescription glasses:
but I'm pretty fond of all of them! it takes a certain kind of person to work at NRC for more than five minutes. though I do think Trein is probably my second favorite? he LOVES his cat! he LOVES his wife! he LOVES history even though he is fed up with these teens and their wacky misadventures! also, I really want to hear the rest of his saucy makeout story. talk about dangling plot threads. 😔
genuinely we need more staff interactions in canon, there is so much untapped hilarity there I CAN FEEL IT

This is mostly for my own curiosity/procrastination and I would rather not have this breach containment, so I don't need a larger sample size kthnx.
If you start top/bottom discourse, I'm blocking and deleting this post. Everyone has preferences and there's nothing wrong about having them, but the moment people start being assholes and policing other people's preferences, we're done here.
No option to see results because if you don't read Jounouchi/Kaiba fics at all, this poll isn't aimed at you.

Was As Above, So Below deleted? It was one of my favourite fics and I would hate to see it gone :(
Hi anon! , For the time being the fic is not deleted, but rather has been privated/hidden on AO3 and will, for the time being, be unavailable to read online ): I debated making a warning post ahead of time, but to be honest I didn’t think anyone would notice. I’m SO sorry to have taken you by surprise with this!
The reason for this is I’ve been working for several months now to turn “as above, so below” into an original work with the goal of traditional publishing. It’s always been my dream, and I’ve recently finished a polished draft and started working on next steps. Because the story (at least in one form) was posted as a fic first, it makes the process a little more complicated, so to increase the work’s integrity I needed to remove it.
Rest assured the story still exists on AO3 with the original stats and comments and kudos and all the things. Depending how things shake out, it may or may not be returning. Though if you are comfortable messaging me off anon, I’d be willing to see if we can figure something out (:
And if by the off chance anyone is interested in following that journey or anything else I may work on in the future, I’ve made a sideblog for my pen name @graywhitaker (nothing is posted there currently) where you could maybe stay up to date on my original writing woes.
It hurts my heart ,,, a lot,,, to see it gone from my profile. It’s definitely my baby. But this is the closest I’ve been to achieving a lifelong dream of mine, so I hope you can understand and stick with me for the time being < / 3 Your support of the fic means the world to me, and all the kind support I received on that fic ended up being a major motivator to pushing me to pursuing it. So thank you for that (:

I haven't been on in a fucking while, life's been crazy yo.
If it makes up for it at all I'm almost done writing a moderately (read: extremely) angsty & smutty ShigaDabi oneshot featuring trans Dabi that may or may not fall into the Light at the End of the Night universe (I haven't decided yet, we'll see what happens lmao) as well as most of the next chapter for the main fic.
I really appreciate everyone who has been so patient with my sporadic updates and I'm gonna go through my asks and answer some of them today, too.

None of you are on my bespoke OJ x Bow level. (By this, I mean: "I willfully misinterpret the canon of Inanimate Insanity to construct a relationship between two characters who barely interact on-screen and deconstruct my own inherent anxieties around gender roles. Do not stoop to my level; such levels of wild speculation will have negative effects on your health.)

I ranted about this in a voice call earlier but I think I should put it into writing here, as well as some extra thoughts.
Have you guys ever thought about how we can kinda start to woobify abuse victims? Or at the very least like. Not give them agency or even actively take away their agency? I've had that happen before with Solita and it bugs me.
Deity is her abuser. But they're her parent. Her best friend. Her most hated enemy. Her purpose and her downfall. You can't just take them away without even consulting her about it. Or on the flipside, take her away. It's like if you took away someone from their abusive S/O or parent by force, without verbalizing and convincing them that 'hey, this person is horrible.'
Solita NEEDS the agency to walk away from Deity. If she doesn't, she falls back into a cycle of toxic dependency on someone else at BEST. At worst, when her ties are cut from Deity, she will flat out end her own life.
I understand the sentiment of wanting to save someone from an abuser. That's an entirely natural reaction. But if the person doesn't understand, or believes that they deserve better, where's the closure? That's not a satisfying end, is it?
Solita will actively place herself in the way of any attempt someone may try to rid her of Deity, so it's not like she's gonna stand by and watch. SHE'S the roadblock every single step of the way. Going behind her back is only going to break a relationship or plainly just break her.
Easy solutions sometimes make the situation worse. Taking someone from an abuser, no matter how right morally it is, can still just be kidnapping.
