not only am i a prophet but i am also super petty!! and the fact that both the love triangle amd trevek got incredibly fucked over this episode it's a ten outta ten for me. complete with riya and alec winning reward, yul getting five seconds of screentime total, connor being useful and jake and aiden almost dying by a wolf... yeah 10/10 for sure.

it's a 10/10 even without my petty jokes. aiden's VA made me crack up this episode, the love triangle got a fitting end, alec deserved immunity, we all knew krystek was coming sooner or later, honestly it's a well-written episode overall what can i say!!

only thing im sad about is my aroace krystal hc is completely out the window but its a small price to pay for trevek death. disventure camp sucks too much to have the honor of aspec characters anyways

truly TRULY the worst part of FY for me. like, i super get that they were trying to wrap stuff up after having a super intense combat, so i also don't, like, hold it against d20 that much?? and maybe it would be even less tasteful to me if we didn't have icon and aroace ally murph (and brennan ig but murph like. INITIATED this plot line) giving us Allo/Amatonormativity Personified as baron.

fwiw, im not 100% romance repulsed either. and i GET that teen romance is part of the genre they're trying to convey in fh!! i just think maybe it should have been limited to the teens, at the very least in FY. it's SO awkward and personally i think reads as "brennan had some (head)canons abt who got together with who, eventually, but it's the last episode so there's no time to seed that in a graceful way if he wants his two cents out there." which is his right to have ideas for who among the adults get together, but like--the entire focus of the whole season was the bad kids, not their parents. so it feels weird when your thoughts abt who ends up dating, even if there is SO MUCH context and build up in brennan's head, are presented as a loose thread being tied up in a bow.

ignoring my complicated and by no means exhaustive feelings/rambling on the topic, if you have not listened to naddpod yet i cannot recommend it enough!!!! yes im a murph girlie and i LOVE his dm style (recently saw a comment on a post saying naddpod has less patrons than wbn bc "brennan is a better dm" and it made me FERAL. i get it i shouldn't have read the comments in the first place, and also you (the commenter) hate consequences and dope encounters. literally no one can say a DROP of MURPH SLANDER unless they have listened to eldermourne finale AND c3e27 the king of dragons. combat and encounter design dm of all time FR!!!!)

Jake Lockley my beloved aroace king. He's got different priorities. He loves and lives with every part of him, just not romantically. Man's got a lust for life but not for other people, you get it, yeah?

He makes connections on a communal scale in ways Marc and Steven don't. There's all the folks who find their way into the back of his cab, and the ones who want to chat, he'll chat with. He's not going to talk much about himself, so he gets to hear a lot about other people's lives and he gets to live a little vicariously through them. Sometimes if it's relevant, he might share a little funny story about his brothers.

Always with an eye out and an ear to the ground, Jake's the ground work specialist, and he knows people. He can handle himself in a crowded space, a bar, a club, etc, and everyone in that space is going to either like him or not ever know he was there. He likes slipping into the crowd, being a face amongst many on some stranger's night out.

There's also, of course, Gena and her kids. Jake has tried his best not to get too connected to specific people, but he can't help it with them. He's a wonderful cool uncle figure to them, and they call him Tio Jake accordingly. Jake is wonderful with kids because he never got to be one.

He and Frenchie V I B E ok, Frenchie absolutely welcomes Jake's unique brand of fuckery and often lighter (seeming) mood, always more willing to joke around than Marc. Frenchie is (at worst) perfectly fine with Jake's approach to things, and often agrees. They get each other and can just be around each other without overthinking. Frenchie is the only pilot Jake trusts, the only time he can stand being in a flying death trap. Jake is also the only driver Frenchie can stand, either, his pilot brain extending to the ground too.

Jake's feelings towards and relationship with Layla are different from Marc and Steven's. He loves her, absolutely, in his own way. They'd butt heads a little, especially at first, but they're very similar souls who want the same thing: the best for their boys. She and he have a truly wonderful relationship when all is said and done, she keeps him in check, calls him out when he needs to be, and they back each other up in calling out Marc and Steven and also in general badassery. They'd make amazing partners in crime.

Jake isn't big on physical touch, let alone affection, but after some time, he'll let Layla in in that way. Don't tell anyone, but he absolutely loves the feeling of her running her hands through his hair while he lies down with his head in her lap. She takes off his flat cap and sets it aside carefully, knowing how much it's a part of him, really, and runs her hand through his product-free, air-dried (Jake can't be bothered, he's wearing his hat anyway) curls, her fingertips grazing his scalp, and he finally, finally thinks he understands what the fuss is about, at least for a moment.

But, he doesn't need more than the tenderness here. Doesn't want it, really. Whatever love that he shares with those in his life? His friends, his partners, his brothers? It's more than enough.

I need the character you want, the pronouns you want used for the reader insert, and if you want the relationship to be platonic or romantic. DO NOT send a request that is romantizing illegal relationships or actions. 'Yandere' fics are in a grey area, and if I feel uncomfortable writing what you've requested, I will either ignore your request or change things and leave a small note at the start.

Aroace here and I don’t really ship. One of my biggest criticism of media is, is this relationship necessary or is it just pushed onto the narrative by the need to have some romance element? I also feel like I appreciate friendships and family dynamics more then most shippers in fandom.

I also don’t see chemistry most of the time, so whether I like a ship or not is almost entirely based on how well written it is in canon or how easily and naturally I think the relationship could be written into a piece of media.

Also can’t stand when stories focused on like being a superhero or finding a murderer end randomly with a wedding and a baby. In some stories that is the natural path but in others it feels like it happens because heteronormativity is king.

I mean I’m very allo but I agree with this and really relate to you. Like I very much like cute ships obvi but I hate it when they’re sandwiched into films/shows/books for no good reason. I also love friendships and family dynamics arguably more than romantic drama especially in TV.

I also personally HATE on/off dynamics. Like I can’t deal. That always feels very unnecessary to me (which is funny because I’ve been in several messy on/off things) so ships in standard TV shows bother me often like sitcoms and crime where they have that like it turns of me off watching.

I also hate stories suddenly pivoting to a happy ending. Like before I disliked Jake lol I had very confusing thoughts on Love and Other Drugs because it was cute and fun to me but I ACTIVELY DESPISE the happy ending. Idk.
