Essential exercises Warm-Up Exercises Before Your Workout
youtube
Starting your workout with a warm-up is a smart move for your body. It gets your muscles and joints ready, making them more flexible and less prone to injury. A warm-up increases your heart rate and gets your blood circulating, so your body is prepared for the exercise ahead. It's like giving your body a heads-up that it's time to get moving.
Taking a few minutes to warm up also helps you mentally shift into workout mode. You can focus on your breathing and clear your mind, setting the tone for a productive session. Warming up might seem like a small step, but it makes a big difference in how you feel during your workout and how well your body performs. It’s all about getting your body and mind in sync, ready to take on the challenge. Get your body moving before your main workout to help prevent injuries and improve your performance. Warming up at home is easy and effective, setting a positive tone for the rest of your exercise routine. Good luck and have fun!❤️💪

i love when words fit right. seize was always supposed to be that word, and so was jester. tuesday isn't quite right but thursday should be thursday, that's a good word for it. daisy has the perfect shape to it, almost like you're laughing when you say it; and tulip is correct most of the time. while keynote is fun to say, it's super wrong - i think they have to change the label for that one. but fox is spot-on.
most words are just, like, good enough, even if what they are describing is lovely. the night sky is a fine term for it but it isn't perfect the way november is the correct term for that month.
it's not just in english because in spanish the phrase eso si que es is correct, it should be that. sometimes other languages are also better than the english words, like how blue is sloped too far downwards but azul is perfect and hangs in the air like glitter. while butterfly is sweet, i think probably papillion is more correct, although for some butterflies féileacán is much better. year is fine but bliain is better. sometimes multiple languages got it right though, like how jueves and Πέμπτη are also the right names for thursday. maybe we as a species are just really good at naming thursdays.
and if we were really bored and had a moment and a picnic to split we could all sit down for a moment and sort out all the words that exist and find all the perfect words in every language. i would show you that while i like the word tree (it makes you smile to say it), i think arbor is correct. you could teach me from your language what words fit the right way, and that would be very exciting (exciting is not correct, it's just fine).
i think probably this is what was happening at the tower of babel, before the languages all got shifted across the world and smudged by the hand of god. by the way, hand isn't quite right, but i do like that the word god is only 3 letters, and that it is shaped like it is reflecting into itself, and that it kind of makes your mouth move into an echoing chapel when you cluck it. but the word god could also fit really well with a coathanger, and i can't explain that. i think donut has (weirdly) the same shape as a toothbrush, but we really got bagel right and i am really grateful for that.
grateful is close, but not like thunder. hopefully one day i am going to figure out how to shape the way i love my friends into a little ceramic (ceramic is very good, almost perfect) pot and when they hold it they can feel the weight of my care for them. they can put a plant in there. maybe a daisy.
#warm up#writeblr.#i am not going to personally comment on the pineapple debate#some things are too big for me.#maybe we could have everything on earth choose their own names.#wouldn't that be fun#it is a creative writing exercise. okay. ily#''why only these languages?'' ..... bc i dont know every language#sorry :(#PLEASE leave me comments about what words u think are correct. i love learning them#btw! this isn't saying these are the most BEAUTIFUL words for it... just the words that are the most CORRECT#like i quite like the word ''keynote'' as mentioned. it's got a lot of fun sounds in it.#but it is not CORRECT.#''gloaming''' is interesting and fun and poetic but it is NOT correct . evening is MORE correct#but less beautiful.#does that make sense?

get your funky writerly juices flowing with these warm-up prompts!
Will it be Aliens or Mutants (originating from earth) who take over the world?
The sun, the moon, or the stars? Discuss.
What would a world with blue grass be like? Why is it this way, what science is different, and how is culture different because of it?
You are from the Very Real culture the word "blorbo" originates from. How do you feel about tumblr-user's appropriation of this word?
With Reddit on strike, what will be the hit new social media platform to take the world by storm?
If you have OCs, make them have a picnic. yes, even that demon-lord OC who sets everything he touches alight. ESPECIALLY him.
What if women?

fifty creative writing warmups
1. search for lists of writing prompts, select one at random, and write from it for 15 minutes. the goal should be to write as much as possible, rather than trying to write something “good.”
2. read or watch a scene from a book/film/show/etc. and then rewrite it from memory.
3. choose one of the five senses (sight, smell, touch, taste, sound) and write a brief scene focusing primarily on that sense.
4. write an interview as if it were occurring between yourself and a character you’re writing about.
5. rewrite something you wrote a long time ago.
6. shuffle your favorite music and write something based on the first song that plays.
7. choose a scene from your least favorite book and try to rewrite it in a way that you like. pay attention to the changes you make and why, in your opinion, they improve the scene.
8. choose an object in the same room as you and write as much as possible about that object: descriptions, history, personification, etc.
9. choose an author whose style you like and read one of their works for about twenty minutes before sitting down to write.
10. write a short scene with no adverbs (words ending in -ly such as quickly, hastily, quietly, dimly, etc.)
11. reread a scene from a book you like and write down what you think the author did well: characterization, use of literary devices, foreshadowing, dialogue, etc. then write down the characters, goals/motives, and conflicts of the scene.
12. go outside or look out a window and simply write what you see.
13. write a scene with no dialogue.
14. write a scene with only dialogue.
15. choose a scene from your current work in progress and rewrite it from a different character’s point of view.
16. without editing, reread the last couple of scenes you wrote.
17. describe a room where you live.
18. learn a new word and try writing a few different sentences that each use that word.
19. reread something you’ve written out loud. pay attention to things like sentence flow.
20. write an alternate ending for a piece of media you’ve enjoyed recently.
21. write a short story based on a side character in a piece of media you’ve enjoyed recently.
22. rewrite a classic fairytale, but find a way to turn it on its head.
23. go to a random word generator and write a quick scene based on the first word that comes up.
24. describe your day as if it were the first chapter of a book.
25. choose a book from your shelf. find the fifth word on the fifth page and write something based on that.
26. go for a walk. or, if you can’t do that, try to find a way to move your body around.
27. choose an emotion and write a scene where that emotion is the central focus.
28. rewrite a scene you’ve already written, but switch the perspective—so, if your story uses first person present tense (I, me, my, mine), try third person past tense (they, them, their, theirs), or second person present tense (you, your, yours).
29. rewrite an important scene in your work in progress from the point of view of a complete outsider with no stake in the plot.
30. read three pages of a random book, making note of the author’s style, and then try to write a page in that author’s writing style.
31. write a news article about one of your characters. what is the headline? what is the article about?
32. in public, transcribe a conversation happening near you.
33. write a short dialogue exchange, then choose an emotion to highlight and rewrite the dialogue with that emotion in mind.
34. choose an object near you and describe it three times. each time, try to capture a different emotion or vibe.
35. if you’re within earshot of a conversation, write down 2-4 lines of that conversation and then continue it by making up your own dialogue.
36. write brief, 1-2 sentence descriptions of people you see in passing.
37. pick something you love and write about it as if you hate it.
38. pick something you hate and write about it as if you love it.
39. read something you wouldn’t normally read: an author, genre, style, medium, or subject matter you’d usually avoid.
40. write a goodbye scene between two people three times to capture different emotions: somber, cheerful, angry.
41. find a random photograph online of a person or place and write a story about it. what is the history behind the image? how did the picture wind up being taken—why?
42. find a random image online and write 1,000 words describing it.
43. watch a scene in a tv show or movie and try to adapt it into a written format.
44. read a few pages of a book about writing.
45. describe your main character’s home.
46. describe a day in your main character’s life.
47. set a timer for five minutes and list as many words as you can think of.
48. write a page of pure stream of consciousness. put down anything that comes to mind.
49. write a page describing the appearance of a side character.
50. choose one of your characters and create a new character based on them. for every trait your character has, this new character will have its total opposite—so, generous → selfish, cowardly → bold, short → tall, etc.

okay wait i got another post in me about the gala scene (yeah, im still not over it.)
also this might just be an excuse to drool over more frames from this jaw dropping moment
so the one thing about this that absolutely wallops me is just how quickly rogneto's dance escalates into. well. more than just a dance (you know if i were there i'd be fucking hooting and hollering until my lungs burst. GET YOUR OLD MAN GIRL.)
LIKE. it starts off soooo polite. magneto's hand is at rogue's waist. they're ballroom dancing, with the hands in the usual positions. VERY RESPECTFUL. they even do a lil spin!
uh. but then they--
THEN THEY--
OLD MAN WHERE IS YOUR TONGUE GOING--
for real though I'm kind in love with?? how rogue seems to take the lead in this entire sequence?? she's the one that invites magneto to dance. she offers her hand to him first (much in the same way that happens in episode 2). he follows her as they rise further into the air and acts every bit the gentleman until she encourages him to take it further. and then of course when he sees the green light the shirt buttons come undone, he's pulling out allllllllllllll the moves he's probably thought about for years now.
anyways. I'm so normal over this scene. thank you x-men '97 for blessing me with a new fave comfort ship and media.
#rogneto#rogueneto#magneto#rogue#this also might have been a warm up exercise to get the writing juices following#if you spy my hint in between the lines you maaaaaaaaaaaay be able to figure out what i have in store#anyways sorry long time rogneto fans for being in your tag again. these two have fucking come to haunt the hell out of me#(in the best way possible of course)#xmen 97#leigh's magneto hours

Have I ever mentioned I’m a Greek mythology nerd? If not… here’s a good time to drop that. This is HEAVILY Orpheus and Eurydice inspired!!
This is just a little writing EXERCISE, I know it’s not good :) I will be posting an actual writing thing on WEDNESDAY!!
Pairing: Simon ‘Ghost’ Riley x Gn!Reader
He Doesn’t Look Back
You’d follow your lieutenant through fire if he asked you to. And he never did ask, but you still did it. Bullets pinging at your feet, all you can do is grip your gun and keep your eyes trained on his back.
Ghost doesn’t look back.
Hesitating for even a second would get you both killed, and he knows it. Glancing back at you, even just to confirm you’re alive and following, would end with a bullet in his head too.
It’s not far from cover, a building you two can duck into to reload and go back at it. Call Price for an evac, inform him the mission went sideways.
Damn intel leaks.
This was your mission, technically. You were sent out alone, collecting information on a mobster from afar. It was simple, safe.
Until the Task Force servers were hacked and your mission was leaked.
Being disconnected from the team unless you called them left you unable to know what happened. When the mobster suddenly went into hiding, you searched the city high and low, trying to figure out what had triggered it.
Ghost was the one to come into the city to tell you, to save your ass. And now he’s the one helping you get out, helping you live, continuously saving your ass.
Despite what everyone says, Ghost is hardly callous or emotionless. If you chose, you’d liken him to a tragedy. For all intents and purposes, he’s the makings of a hero: strong and brave, loyal enough to dive into hell to save you. But he’s got the air of a dead man walking, someone who has so many ghosts that they’ll drag him down. Ironic, considering his Callsign.
You let out a muffled curse as a bullet zings past you, barely missing. Ghost doesn’t turn, too busy dodging his own bullets.
There’s just a few more paces, then you’ll be in the safety of cover. This is the last time you’re letting Price put you on undercover work, you swear. Soap will probably tease you for days for needing Ghost to come rescue you.
Your hands tighten on your gun instinctively, glancing over as you catch a glimpse of fabric. Honestly, you’re not sure you’ve been in a worse situation. At least in other times you had all of 141 to back you.
Finally, Ghost ducks into the doorway of the abandoned house, looking back at you before he’s even fully in. You can see his eyes through the mask, relief clear as he reaches back to haul you through with him.
You lower your gun, stretching to grab his arm, eyes only on him and the prospect of safety.
Neither of you ever sees the grenade.
It flings you back, the ground seeming to erupt beneath your feet as you fly. You slam against someone’s abandoned car, scrabbling for purchase as you’re sent tumbling across its hood. Glass tears through your sleeves and gloves, piercing through to your skin.
Ghost shouts your Callsign, but you can’t even hear it past the ringing in your ears. Like everything is muffled, you can barely get yourself to focus on pushing yourself to a sitting position.
Pain shoots through your body, but you ignore it. You have to get up, you have to get to Ghost, you have to fucking live.
You look up, right into the barrel of a gun.
A man you’ve never seen before stares down at you, sneering. As you watch, his hand tightens around the grip.
Ghost is nowhere in sight. He came back for you, but at what cost? He looked back to help you, to make sure you were still alive, and you were a fool for dropping your gun to reach for him.
The man above you squeezes the trigger.
Ghost’s name is the last thing on your lips.

Hey! I recently got serious nerve damage in my dominant hand due to a work injury and have been struggling with knowing where to start with training my off hand to draw. A friend of mine told me that you had gone through something similar; is there anything you'd recommend?
begin very very simply: draw dots on the page, then try to connect those dots with lines. Make the gaps between them small. This is very hard! but it helps enormously. Then, try writing the alphabet in capital letters, and if you're not too tired then numbers. Do this three times a day. Eventually you will be able to control your lines and curves and then you can start to try drawing simple things, but the very first thing you have to do is acquire a command of control.
If you begin to draw complex forms too soon you will only be frustrated! Be VERY careful not to exhaust your hand: it does not have the muscles that your dominant hand has developed over the years and it is twice as likely to suffer RSI as a result. Rest, stretch, and do not overwork your hand or your brain.
#also as you get better make the spaces between the dots wider#I use that as a warm up for BOTH hands#it's a very good exercise
