I was working on research for an article,, or whatever we call these things, it’s finished and on my profile currently, on the mirror image of Victor Orban and his consolidation of power and stranglehold on Hungary, and the way in which Trump is following it to a T!! This is part of it!! A Christian Democracy. In case I get thrown in getmo, someone find my phone, there’s 23 in depth, 3/4 written, unproofread reports in notes on various topics.

The amount of death and oppression religion has justified is staggering. This is a way to control the masses and dignify your corrupt actions. Blame it on god.

For a bunch of “patriots” these people sure love shredding the Constitution. We got the 14th amendment, the 1st amendment, pretty much all that is annulled, the speech part, the assembly part, the very first part, religion, the press, Trump doesn’t see their worth and so maga doesn’t either I guess?! Unless it’s them who feel disenfranchised.

The fascist playbook. Immigrant hate. LGBTQ hate. Make legislation against that. Install your own judiciary. He can check that one off. Have a shadow army who will commit terrorism on command. That one can be checked off too. Throw rallies and campaign basically regardless if there’s an election. Yup. Have a parliament that bends to your will. There’s definitely that. Major focus on religion and its connection to government, snagging the true fundamentalist.

So what you’re saying is maga voted to give billionaires and corporations a massive tax cut that minimally benefits them in the smallest amount, and now kids will starve and die from disease in poor countries, kids in our country won’t be able to attend public school and an agency created to protect the average American from corrupt banking practices will be abolished too!?

Think of it. The world’s richest man is killing poverty stricken children, he’s robbing children of an education, and enabling massive financial institutions to rob the regular citizens. Also, this man is doing this in the name of America while not being an American.

One of the sources in another one of Alisa's furiously impassioned twitter threads have been debunked, so I didn't include that. But she claims that her own family was caught in the fallout zone when her mother was a baby, which eventually led to her and large numbers of her community developing cancer. It's human for that kind of grief to be caught up in inaccuracies. People are already being ghastly and racist to Hispanos and Indigenous people criticizing the hype for the movie. They're not attacking Oppenheimer for being Jewish, they're criticising the erasure of the human cost of these bombs and the continued valorisation of the U.S military's actions in World War II as some kind of moral saviourism.

While Oppenheimer himself believed that the nuclear bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were morally justified (they had planned to drop them on Germany except they surrendered before they could), he also felt had blood on his hands and regretted his role as the "Father of the Atomic Bomb". He spent the rest of his career vehemently opposing further development of thermonuclear weapons and the hydrogen bomb accurately predicting the concept of mutually assured destruction. This eventually made him a victim of Senator McCarthy's Red Scare and his clearance was revoked. I haven't seen the movie (Christopher Nolan is the kind of casual white racist I avoid on principle) but people who have seen it say that it doesn't glorify nuclear weapons and depicts the man himself with the complex moral nuance that seems to be accurately reflective of his real life.

The backlash to Indigenous and Hispanos people's criticisms and to people pointing out that Hiroshima and Nagasaki were genocides is also frustrating because...both world wars were a clash of genocidal empires. The reason they were world wars is because the countries colonized by Japan, China, the European powers and the US were all dragged into it, whether they wanted to or not. Jews were one of the many colonized peoples that suffered in that time, who were left to die by everyone until they could be used to frame the Allied powers as moral saviours, establishing a revisionist nostalgia for heroism that powers the US military industrial complex to this day.

As early as May 1942, and again in June, the BBC reported the mass murder of Polish Jews by the Nazis. Although both US President, Franklin Roosevelt, and British Prime Minister, Winston Churchill, warned the Germans that they would be held to account after the war, privately they agreed to prioritise and to turn their attention and efforts to winning the war. Therefore, all pleas to the Allies to destroy the death camp at Auschwitz-Birkenau were ignored. The Allies argued that not only would such an operation shift the focus away from winning the war, but it could provoke even worse treatment of the Jews. In June 1944 the Americans had aerial photographs of the Auschwitz complex. The Allies bombed a nearby factory in August, but the gas chambers, crematoria and train tracks used to transport Jewish civilians to their deaths were not targeted.

Uncritical consumption of World War II media is the reinforcement of imperialist propaganda, more so when one group of colonized people is used to silence other colonized peoples. Pitting white Jewry against BIPOC is to do the work of white supremacy for imperialist colonizers, and victimizes Jews of colour twice over.

Edit: friends, there's been some doubt cast on the veracity of Alisa's claims. The human cost to the Hispanos population caught downwind of the nuclear tests is very real, as was land seizure without adequate compensation. However, there's no record I can yet find about Los Alamos killing livestock and Hispanos being forced to work for Los Alamos without PPE. There is a separate issue about human testing in the development of said PPE that's not covered here. I'm turning off reblogs until I can find out more. The Liberation of Palestine and the Rights of Indigenous Americans: The Same Struggle

532 years ago, America was "discovered" by Europeans for the first time. What resulted from this fateful day was nothing short of a genocide. Millions systemically displaced and killed, cultures destroyed, and ecosystems irreparably altered to accommodate the European colonizers at the expense of the people who lived there. In both the United States and Canada, remaining indigenous populations face massive societal discrimination and are victim to underfunding and exploitation from the governments of their respective states. Many are forced into poverty, underfunded reservations, and horrid living conditions. Sound similar?

The genocide in Gaza and the expansion of the Israeli settler state is almost completely congruent to the history of violence experienced by indigenous Americans. Both the Palestinian liberation struggle and the Land Back movement in the US are inherently interwined in their ideals and histories, and any anti-imperialist should recognize the victory of these struggles as fundamental to the development of equality and liberty for the oppressed.

Solidarity with Palestine and Solidarity with the First Nation's People forever. No freedom, no peace, on stolen land.

Who doesn’t want to be fact checked? Liars.

This isn’t hard to comprehend. You don’t remove protections against fraud and terminate law enforcement not loyal to you unless you plan on committing massive fraud and acts of criminality. This is a coup!

The Republican Party has now just became the largest organized crime entity in the world. Our country will suffer greatly.

The Women of World War I — Part I

Before The Great War, working class women were not new to factory work. There was, however, a division between women's and men's jobs. After war was declared, women increasingly took on the men's jobs to fill the gap left when men were recruited as soldiers. With munitions factories producing for the war effort, there were even more jobs for women to fill – many of them dangerous and requiring significant physical strength.

While the fashion plates were still catering to the well-to-do, the war did influence women's fashion in consequential and lasting ways.

Clothing became more sensible. Gone were the restricting undergarments of past eras. Clothing was more tailored and most significantly, hemlines rose to several inches above the ankle.

In Britain women joined the Voluntary Aid Detachment and Queen Alexandra’s Royal Army Nursing Corps. In the USA, the Marine Corps Women’s Reserve, and the special women’s battalions on the Russian Front.

In rural areas women were called to duty to perform an assortment of farm work and chores that had been previously done by the men who went to war. In the image on the right, a catalog page displays styles of overalls and briches particularly suited to outdoor work.

Above are two very different roles that women took during WW I. The Women's Motor Corps of the American Red Cross was largely made up of wealthy women who had the means of access to an automobile and learned to drive. The munitions factory girls on the other hand, worked at physically demanding, dangerous work and likely came from modest means. The latter were called "Canary Girls" because the exposure to TNT caused a yellowing of the skin. They faced not only safety but also health hazards, for very low wages.
