She and her perfect husband
Year : 2022 | Country : CN | Nb of episodes: 40
My rate: 6/10
Synopsis :
Lawyer Qin Shi is focused on her career but is rushed into the marriage by her parents. The top law firm "Cheng and Hui" is recruiting lawyers specializing in family affairs, and one of the requirements is to be married. Qin Wen Yu, Qin Shi's second brother, secretly changed Qin Shi's marital status to "married" without her knowledge, creating a fictional husband for her. Not knowing anything, Qin Shi is employed by the firm.
Her outstanding performance earned the approval of the founder Lao Jin. During a gathering with partners, Lao Jin recommends Qin Shi to be the legal counsel for the Association of Women Entrepreneurs. It is only then Qin Shi realizes that she is purportedly married.
Qin Shi decides to clarify the situation to Lao Jin, but at this moment, her "husband", Yang Hua, appears. He's forced by his mother to come for a matchmaking session with Qin Shi's competitor. Feeling resentful over his mother's forceful actions, he forms an alliance with Qin Shi to benefit from the situation. They hit it off immediately and impulsively decide to register their marriage. However, both their parents sense something wrong with the situation.
Qin Shi's ex-boyfriend suddenly joins the law firm, and while facing numerous crises, Qin Shi and Yang Hua begin to have feelings for each other.
Main cast :
Yang Mi as Qin Shi
Xu Kai as Yang Hua
Li Ze Feng as Tao Jun Hui
Tang Jing Mei as Li Dai
Wang Zi Xuan as Wu Fei
My thoughts on this drama :
I started this one based on the cast. I was curious to see Yang Mi in a modern drama. The story itself is nothing too interesting, but I like the dynamic older woman - younger man for once. She's an established lawyer vs a protected mamaboy. Though there was little chemistry between the actors, they did a pretty good job portraying their characters, it just was not believable enough.

Lost You Forever S2 - A complete waste
Even though the s1 was such a gem in the Chinese adaptation dramas. Love-lines messed up, out of character on a large scale. After all, I don’t know what Tonghua - the script writer AND the AUTHOR of the original book - was thinking. She makes her heroine be some kind of a two timer, going push and pull with Bei in the morning and crying about how hard she feels to forget Jing in the afternoon. Why 🙂 we all know you are single now, XY, but we don’t need that trait from a heroine, right?
As if it would stop right there. A great deal of scenes were added to prove her situation-ship. She wears red wedding gown waiting at the Dragon Bone prison - where she and Jing promised to be together, claiming me wait for nothing (now starts the add-on) but her eyes brighten when she sees snow (means Liu is nearby). Girl, again you were crying over Jing the other day. Anddddd next, our Liu, unexpectedly (but somehow not that unexpectedly) appears on the screen, with a dashing, non-existent-in-the-novel red wedding gown, hands holding the goodbye-im-getting-married gift from Xiaoyao, looks so sad 😬 dude, are the daily demands of a general not heavy enough for you? you have time to hang out with XY in 2 different countries and now you just stand still gazing afar on the ocean???
And the trip to see XY's mom and bio dad. Gosh, originally only Haoling King, XY and Jing went. Now it is like a fellowship of the ring with even Cangxuan and Liu going. Jing, who was introduced to XY’s mom as the fiancé of XY, on his knees before her mom to show respect and gained her approval. In the drama funny thing he’s the only one who was not on his knees. well he doesn’t even get the chance to meet the mom before she dies. And Jing and XY, who want to kill the bug so much, don’t even think to ask the magicians (masters of bugs) when they are in the hood as they did in the novel. Well, let Liu-sama, appearing from nowhere, take care of this task.
And, the plot that Cangxuan is boss in the Jing assassination and all of its following developments, have been written as some kind of hallucination former Xiyan King created for him so he knows when to stop his hidden desire for XY 🤣 the boss now is his queen Xinyue, who is jealous and greedy but not a moron. Someone who cannot beat the power of Tushan-Xiling clans, now has the audacity and assets to support Tushan Hou in setting a trap and kill Jing - her own beloved first cousin. Funny, Tonghua.
And so so many scenes added/removed. I think most people in China who were fans of the novel and s1 are so mad when at least 3 main characters (Xiaoyao, Cangxuan, Jing) are so nerf and OOC that the views go down, like, to the hell compared with s1, which is tbh beyond every bloggers’ forecast. even fasttrack (the release of 6 final eps for those paying) cannot save the view. The hotsearch “ill adaptation - LYF” on Weibo (Chinese social media) is on, showing great disappointment of the fans.
Such a shame with those casting. All I have to say, capitalism is scary with its star boosting scheme 😅

City Streamer. 7
Story: 8
Acting: 10
Chemistry: 10 🔥
Comparable to: Fall in Love (cdrama) ; Snowdrop (cdrama) ; The Justice (cdrama)
Ugh. I have such a love hate relationship with this drama. In lots of ways this drama is outstanding and in lots of ways this drama is absolutely frustrating. For one thing every character is written in a way where you want to slap them, especially the main male lead. (You don’t even want me to get started on his father) The male lead is very spineless and very selfish practically throughout the whole drama. All he wants is the “girl” AND the money he comes from. I’m trying to be discreetly as possibly with that description without spoiling anything for those who haven’t watch it yet. I kept wanting to throttle him sometimes, telling him to grow up. Nonetheless this does have a excellent storyline with beautiful scenery and costumes. The first half is definitely better then the middle where it gets a bit muddled. The last episode was very rushed too but it did resolve everything and offer closure. Overall I would recommend this one for the historical republican era cdrama buffs and those who love melodramas.

The Bionic Life
Tumblr media
TV Shows/Dramas watched in 2023
The Bionic Life (2023, China)
Directors: Leste Chen, Ko Zhennian & Hsu Chaojen
Writers: Song Xuan, Mai Jia, Wang Yuxiong, Li Yaixin & Luo Xiaorui
Mini-review:
I love Song Weilong and I was really looking forward to seeing him in a sci-fi drama, but The Bionic Life didn't fully meet my expectations. While the show proposes a lot of interesting questions and themes, it never delves in them as deeply as it should. And it definitely doesn't help that the world-building is so half-assed. I did enjoy some of the episodic cases and the overarching mystery, mainly due to the main characters and the cast, but I wish the writing was stronger. Tbh, if it wasn't so short, I think I wouldn't have finished it.

The Rebel Princess Gave Me Everything I Wanted from a Court Intrigue Drama
Hello, friends. I am once again here to praise a heterosexual drama. I'm shocked as much as you. This time @lurkingshan created enough curiosity in me that I didn't charge her any of her recommendation tickets, and she got me to watch 68 episodes of people determined to fuck Zhang Zi Yi's character Wang Xuan.
Tumblr media
This show gave everything that shows like Game of Thrones thought they were giving. It was such a relief to watch a show where everyone had clear goals and went about them in fairly sensible ways. On the real, though, almost every character's primary motivation for doing anything is because they wanna fuck the most eligible daughter of the Wang clan, even in the final episode. I couldn't believe it!
Tumblr media
I had a great time with this show! It gave me some of the most competent characters I've ever seen, and the primary couple works really well together. The hardest thing for me with this show (other than the heterosexuality) was the fact that they didn't let Zhang Zi Yi play a martial artist. This is the girl who stole the Green Destiny. This is the girl throwing knives across fields and around trees. They wanted me to believe she could only rely on her wits!
Tumblr media
This show had some incredible characters. We had the Empress Dowager, who is always mad that no one likes her even as she's trying to force people to surrender to her will. I'm so glad she's not on twitter.
Tumblr media
We had her song, Zilong, who has probably the most compelling arc in the show. He was a useless little shit early on, but he was actually growing into the role of emperor and was one of the few characters in power to actually care about the health and stability of the nation.
Tumblr media
There's Ma Zilu, aka The Brothel Prince. He was my favorite villain. He was the only villain not focused on who got to fuck his cousin/sister and for that I respect him the most. He also had an incredible cackle. Look at him stabbing his own brother to stab Xuan.
There's Yu Xiu, my favorite girl of all time. I just need her to know that she did well in the interview. All of Ningshuo Army. Pan Gui, my beloved.
Tumblr media
There's an incredible cast. I don't want to go on naming all of them, because truly the character I loved the most was Xiao Qi. This man was genuinely good in a way we so rarely get in these intrigue dramas. He's loyal, powerful, and competent. He cares about the state of the world and aspires to no higher position than is necessary to accomplish the mission. Then he surrenders his power and tries to go home. He loves and respects his wife, promises to marry only her, and chooses not to have children to make sure she doesn't risk dying in childbirth.
This show is full of some incredible battle sequences that are some of the most satisfying I've ever experienced in TV. They spend their money efficiently, but they build the emotions so well that every time we are seeing combat we can feel the stakes. It's been so long since I watched a show with good Warrior's Bond content, and I was compelled by this show once it really got rolling.
Still, as much as I loved this show and highly recommend it, I will not be watching another drama anytime soon with this much heterosexuality in it.

hi! hope you're well! i was wondering if you'd have any recommendations for a female fc who is either full chinese or half chinese/white in her 20s (or early 30s but can pass for 20s). someone with sort of a willowy, dancer's build and looks very elegant. i like natasha liu bordizzo and havana rose liu a lot, but i feel that they might be too common as fcs and i think it would be nice to use an actress or model who isn't often seen!
appreciate your help very much, as well as all the content you post! (thank you especially for posting some important donation links and resources, i'm always happy to see those being spread.) best wishes to you as well, take care and have a wonderful weekend!
