Okay finally I’m gonna talk about Yue Kan Shao Nu aka The Comic Bang aka C-Drama GSNK.
Shen Yue as Zuo QianDai (Chiyo)
Ahhhhh she’s so cute!
Look at the bows!
Also I found a video of her interacting with Jackson Wang and if the show is like a QUARTER as cute as that video I’ll be happy
Wang JingXuan as Lu YeQi(Nozaki)
This is such a random thing but he’s so pretty? Like I always expected Nozaki’s face to be hella generic but this guy is so nice looking. Not complaining though.
The grey blazer. It persists!
The videos of him and Shen Yue interacting are so wholesome! They have a good vibe together I think that’ll be super good for onscreen chemistry.
Zhou YanChen as Chai ZiYu(Mikorin)
HI SORRY REAL QUICK I KNOW THIS GUY HE WAS ON IDOL PRODUCER. I was rooting for him he had to perform when he was hella sick and you can’t tell.
Okay back to the show.
It doesn’t look like they’re doing the whole “bad boy” image thing he seems like a nice young man.
Their dedication to keeping the looks fairly realistic and still having red hair is commendable it looks good.
Jenny Zeng as Zhao JieYue(Seo)
I’m curious if they’ll keep Seo’s personality the same or change it. Idk enough about C drama character types to say for sure.
She was on Youth With You season 2. She’s very talented I hope they have her actually sing as Lorelei.
She really does look like Seo like her face is very Seo I can’t explain why but she does.
Wu Yu Heng as Jiang Ruo Song(Wakamatsu)
Look at him! Studying manga! He looks so into it.
WHY WERE ALL THESE ACTORS ON SURVIVAL SHOWS THIS GUY WAS ON THE MALE PRODUCE CAMP SEASON. I mean he’s talented so its fine but still.
I always forget that canonically Wakamatsu is REALLY hot bc he’s such a dork but if they keep that personality this is going to be so freaking funny.
Zhao Yi Qin as Gu Zheng Xing(Hori)
I have no explanation as to why but like. This is Hori. Like his face. He looks like Hori. That’s Hori.
His acting is so cute and sweet in the one drama I’ve seen by him(it was called sweet sweet it was about magic ice cream it was fun) so if they keep the personality from the manga this is going to be SO FUNNY.
The ONE downside is that he’s not short. Like he’s 5’11 that isn’t short especially compared to Kashima’s actress who’s only like 5’6 so I’m curious what joke they’ll replace the short jokes with.
Rachel Wang as Luo Dao(Kashima)
She’s so pretty.
Apparently she’s very fierce/confident so it’ll be interesting to see how she plays Kashima everyone’s favorite airhead genius.
Seriously she’s got like an e girl aesthetic she’s so chic.
Also I love her outfit? Like I know it’s simple but idk it just really fits.

I spotted a picture of Zhang Zhehan from Word of Honor sporting a side-flip. That made me think of some of the cutest/hottest/coolest/epicest (that's a word now) side flips.
The pic that started it all. Zhang Zhehan. I find it the cutest.
I particularly like Wang Yibo's sideflip from Legend of Fei. He carries it of quite well and I think it is the coolest.
Quite possibly the prettiest of the lot. But then, when it comes to Xiao Zhan, I am biased. He's gorgeous.
Speaking of gorgeous, how can I not mention Hu Ge. If that man touches water, it evaporates. He's that hot. So yeah, his side-flip is the hottest.
Cannot ignore Zhang Ruo Yun's stylish flip from Joy of Life. He rocks this hairstyle. I like him better with his hair open.
Most adorable side flip goes to Song Jiyang. Surprising, because usually the adjectives I attribute to this man are ethereal, or elegant, or otherworldly. Didn't think adorable would be the one I'd go with for him.
What adjective can I give the drama-queen that is Jiang Cheng? Wang Zhuocheng himself is adorable, but that's not a word I can use to describe the character. So I guess I will call his side flip the angriest? LOL.
And then there's the Diva. The side-flip to end all sideflips. Liu Duan Duan's Li Chengze wins the most dramatic side-flip of all.
While the award for the sexiest one goes to Wallace Huo. (Still recovering from this one)

if it's not too much trouble, would you consider translating the chinese TU memes? It seems like they're funny... but I don't know any Chinese and I tried looking them up but I still don't get it 🥺
I assume you're referring to this incredible post (and not to, like, Chinese CQL memes in general). In which case yes I can try, because it’s hilarious.
(Usual caveats: I'm not Chinese, and my Mandarin is far from fluent)
(And a request: I'm just explaining the jokes to the best of my ability - if you find them funny all the credit belongs to the OP so go like/reblog that post instead of this one!)
Okay, so all of these are basically puns/wordplay, based on various forms of swapping out a character (Hanzi) from the name of a character (fictional) for another one that sounds the same but means something different.
In order:
1. Wei Wuxian: The first image is just his name, 魏无羡, and in the second one it swaps out both characters of wuxian (无羡) to get youxian (有线). The joke is that 无 is a negation roughly meaning 'without', whereas 有 means 'to have' and therefore functions as an opposite (i.e. 无 denoting the absence of something and 有 denoting the presence), and 羡 (xian) from Wei Wuxian's name means 'envy' but sounds like 线 (xian), which means 'string' or 'thread'. So if you're reading it aloud, it sounds like 'Wei without a thread, Wei with a thread'.
2. Lan Wangji: This is playing on 'Lan Zhan' - 蓝湛, where 湛 (zhan) is pronounced the same way as 站, which means 'to stand'. So the first image is just his name, but aloud also sounds like 'Lan stands', and then the second two are 蓝坐 (lan zuo) where 坐 means 'to sit', and 蓝躺 (lan tang), where 躺 means 'to recline' or 'to be lying down'.
3. Jiang Cheng: Playing on his courtesy name, Jiang Wanyin - 江晚吟 (individual characters meaning river + evening + song). The play here is specifically on 晚, 'evening', replacing this in the first image with 早 (zao) - 'early morning', and in the second image with 午 (wu) - 'afternoon'/'midday', before finishing with his actual name where of course 晚 (wan) is 'evening'. That the images go chronologically and also frame a kind of dawn/noon/evening of his life, starting with the brightness of morning and ending with the evening of, er, mourning, is just added genius and it hurts me.
4. Lan bros: Okay so ‘vacuum cleaner’ is 吸尘机 (xichenji), where the 吸尘 (xichen, literally ‘inhale dust’) has the same pronunciation as 曦臣 (xichen) in Lan Xichen’s name. So that’s the first image. The second plays on the fact that the 机 (ji, ‘machine’/’device’) of 吸尘机 is the same ji as in Lan Wangji’s name. So the second image is just 吸尘机 and is thus playing it as Xichen (same pronunciation as Xichen but different characters) and Wangji (same 'ji' as in his name) and thus the two Lan bros.
5. Wen Qing: I love this one. I love her name. Wen Qing is 温情 (warm + ...情 has many shades of meaning depending on context and/or the word it's in, but in this context along the lines of sentiment/emotion/feeling). The wordplay is mostly off of 温, in kind of a similar form as the Jiang Cheng set - it goes from 冷 (leng - 'cold') to 温 (wen - 'warm' and also her actual surname) to 热 (re - 'hot'), with expressions to match.
6. Wen Ning: Playing on his rarely-heard courtesy name Wen Qionglin - 温琼林 (individual characters are warm + jade + forest). But 琼 (qiong - fine jade) is homophonous with 穷 (qiong), which means ‘poor’ (as in impoverished) or ‘to exhaust/use up’. The first image is captioned with his name, but the second plays on 琼 sounding like 穷 by replacing 琼 in his name with 富 (fu), which means ‘wealthy’/’abundant’/’prosperous’. Oof.
7. Jin Guangyao: Man this one works so well. Jin Guangyao is 金光瑶 (individual characters are gold + light + jade), and the play is on swapping 光 (guang), which means ‘light’, for 暗 (an), which means ‘dark’/’dim’. But also 光 has connotations of honour/glory/goodness (and is the same guang as in Hanguang-jun), and 暗 has connotations of secret/hidden/clandestine. (Also I always think of Wei Wuxian on the rooftop in ep22 describing his three months in the Burial Mounds to Lan Wangji as 暗无天日的日子 - literally something like dark, sunless days but as an idiom 暗无天日 can mean total darkness but also an absence of justice. Anyway I digress. Or do I).
8. Jiang Fengmian: His name is 江枫眠, and the character this one is playing on is 眠 (mian) which means ‘dormant’/’asleep’, which in the second image is then swapped for 醒 (xing), which means ‘to awaken’.
9. Xiao Xingchen: The first image is just his name, 晓星尘 (why is his name so pretty - individual characters are dawn + star + dust). The joke is that 晓 (xiao), which means ‘dawn’ or ‘daybreak’ sounds the same as 小 (xiao) which means ‘small’ (or ‘young’). So the picture of him is small... and then then in the second, larger image the first character of his name is swapped for 大 (da), which means ‘big’. Why is this so fucking funny.
10. Wen Ruohan: lfaksjerlskjerj okay so his name is 温若寒 (individual characters warm + like/as if + cold/winter), and the play here is on 若 (ruo - ‘like’ or ‘as if’) sounding similar to (though in this case not a perfect homophone of) 肉(rou), which means ‘meat’. So the second image is just... Wen Frozen Meat.
#every time i look at that post i laugh#so i hope i have done it at least some modicum of justice in translation#if i have made any mistakes please feel free to correct me#i will be taking constructive criticism at this time#asks#anon

#1, 3, 5, 7 and 9? and any you expected in your top 10 but arent there :D
:D :D :D :D
BECAUSE I'M SUPER PREDICTABLE they're all zhou shen songs asdfASDFASD
i can't help rambling a lot, sorry in advance ;;
1. 《归处》 (guichu) "place of belonging": this one taking #1 did not surprise me at all LOL i've looped it so many times, i just find it so atmospheric and floaty and spellbinding
3. 《触不可及》 (chu bu ke ji) untouchable": also not surprising in the least—for a long time this would always be the first song i played before putting everything on shuffle. i always loved playing it walking down the street, feeling all 潇洒 (xiaosa, natural and unrestrained), feeling like yeah life is really good actually. (and now there's an upgraded version from the mid-autumn festival in which he adds all these insane harmonies?? hhhhHHHHH)
5. 《落花》 (luohua) "fallen petals": one of zs' more obscure osts, i actually didn't even know it existed until i saw it on spotify haha (in my defense he has a LOT of songs), but it's really ethereal and pretty
7. 《荒城渡》 (huang cheng du), xue yang's theme: best soundtrack in cql 😩
9. 《江湖觅知音》 (jianghu mi zhiyin) "seeking a bosom friend in jiang-hu": THIS SONG MAKES ME GO FERAL, IT'S LITERALLY EDM + CHINESE OPERA, AND IT USES ERHU THE MOST FERAL INSTRUMENT! I LOVE IT SO MUCH I'M SURPRISED ITS NOT HIGHER THAN #9 (and also i find it so hilarious that the musician who wrote this song was literally like "i had so much fun with our collab, i didn't have to worry about how hard the song would be for the singer at all!! if i knew he would handle it so flawlessly i would've made it even harder :V")
spotify has a relatively small fraction of zhou shen's discography, so there are actually a lot of other songs that would be on the top 10 if it weren't for that HAHAHA, including:
《若梦》 (ruo meng) “dream-like”: i loop this one SO MUCH it'd probably be in the top 5, the emotional build up at the end gets me everytime
《鲁冰花》 (lu bing hua) “the dull-ice flower”: cue anyone who’s familiar with chinese music to be like wait seriously?? lu bing hua??? YES SERIOUSLY he uses lala hsu’s gorgeous arrangement from Singer 2016 for this cover and with his incredible storytelling-esque vocals, it’s just SO GOOD, i loop it non-stop ;;
《光亮》 (guangliang) “silver linings”: this just came out this november so spotify didn’t count it, but i’ve already listened to it a ridiculous amount of times; the beijing opera at the climax has been the only thing circulating in my head these past few weeks
all of his duets with hacken lee from 我们的歌 (wo men de ge, a variety show): i could scream about them forever oh my g o d two vocal gods with god-tier harmonization skills, no matter how many times i listen to their duets, the jaw-dropping, heart-swooping feeling never goes away. some faves here, here, and here
and just so that it’s not entirely zhou shen, i also looped mimi lee and chris wong's 《傻女》 “foolish girl” and 《晚秋》 “late autumn” duets a lot, also from 我们的歌; they were so underrated in the show because apart from these two songs, they got stuck with not the greatest song selections ;;
#bless you ria u know my weakness...any opportunity to scream about zhou shen asfdASDFASDFA ilysm <3#zhou shen#i actually use my sister's spotify so half the spotify wrapped songs are hers#but somehow u chose all the numbers that were mine :DDD#its funny most of these are osts#i think with a lot of his live performances i prefer to be watching them actively whereas osts are more suitable for day to day listening#but there are a LOT of live performances i love#that i gotta resist looping infinitely otherwise i'll never get anything else done LOL#asks
