#so the british putting vinegar on french fries #led to the rise of salt and vinegar potato chips stateside #I'm guessing based on the mutual that I reblogged this from that it's also popular in Australia #like this is not me hating on the concept of #vinegar on potato #I get why you do it and I get why it works #though limon chips are definitely an improvement on this flavor idea imho #still that is a fish and chips specific condiment choice #like vinegar is not going to pair well with a burger #like you might be able to get it to work because ketchup has vinegar in it #but if you're putting ketchup on your burger #then you might as well put ketchup on your fries too #i realize that not all ketchups are created equal but #tomato ketchup is an american invention #if your ketchup doesn't taste good on fries get good I guess #but yeah as far as I'm aware #vinegar and potato as a flavor combo is pretty specific to the anglosphere and even then exact specifics vary from country to country #most everywhere else goes with ketchup or mayo #depends on your mayo of course #as like ketchup not all mayos are created equal #and some would pair much better with a french fry than others #side note i hope to god y'all are using vinegar powder and not dunking your fries into #like #a cup of liquid vinegar #side note I'd bet money that most if not all of the people who picked mayo #are from europe but not the uk #using the uk and not england specifically because i'm not 100% sure #what scotland and wales do with french fries #and I'm not invested enough to find out #so I'm using including them in the vinegarzone just to be safe

#Coronation Street spoilers #Corrie spoilers #Swarla #hopefully they just had it for dinner instead #Lisa Swain u absolute dreamboat cooking a whole ass breakfast from scratch #it's such a me move so of course i approve #doesn't look like she added crumbled feta to hers though #or maybe she didn't get a chance to before Betsy's absence became the priority #Carla's whispered 'smells delicious' when she returns to the table to find it there... AK i love you #i always bastardise my shakshuka and added cubed potato and cooking chorizo to make it more filling #plus chilli of course & balsamic vinegar for depth #also i remain in awe at the details VM considers: when she opens the oven she waves her arm as though to disspell the steam #i couldn't see any steam and surely they hadn't actually had the set oven on long enough to create any?#cor now i really fancy shakshuka #Cake Watches Corrie

#i wanted something to put in my salad and i have sweet potatoes to use up #and i love using miso for salt/umami and i know miso goes really well with butter... and then i added some cayenne and maple syrup #and some rice vinegar to balance it #salt fat acid heat i love u thank u for never steering me wrong !!!

Brough mum to the now defunct Common Chefs Bistro at Jalan Legundi, Sembawang for an early dinner. Ordered myself the Duro Pork Chop (S$18+) with two juicy and succulent slices of bone-in pork chop drizzled with balsamic vinegar infused sauce and a sprinkling of thymes. Served with two sides of fries and a helping of mixed vegetables salad.

Got mum the spicy Arrabbiata Minced Beef & Mushroom Spaghetti (S$12+). The pasta looks good to me with the sprinkled grated cheese and herbs but mum don’t appreciate the spiciness of the chilli padi (bird's eye chilli).

To finish off the meal, a slice of local flavoured Ondeh Ondeh Cake (S$7.50+). Three slices of pandan flavoured sponge cake sandwiching two layers of desiccated coconut cooked with gula melaka (palm sugar) and more grated coconut sprinkled on top and around. Although a likeable dessert but I still missed the traditional ondeh ondeh snack.
