You and Jacaerys had been dorm roommates since your first year, the bond between you two had grown more and more each day, forming a very close friendship.

You two practically did everything together, you were attached at the hip.

It was night when you both were walking the dark streets, just having finished studying in the library.

You were about to speak when a small squeak filled the air between you both, startling you slightly as you looked around, noticing something small moving in the corner of your eye.

You came to a stop, reaching out and grabbing Jaces arm so he would stop as well. As he slowed you gently made your way closer to the small shadow you seen moving.

As you got closer it squeaked again, only this time it was much clearer.

“Hi there” You whispered softly, crouching down. “It’s okay, I won’t hurt you.” You cooed, gently reaching your hands out.

It took only a moment for the young kitten to crawl into your palms, letting out a soft purr as it nudged its body into you.

“Jace!” You smiled happily, turning to face him, “Can we keep it? Please?”

Jacaerys watched you for a moment before his eyes fell to the kitten, his lips twitching as he struggled to keep the smile from forming. “I get to pick the name.” He spoke firmly.

“You get to pick the name.” You nodded, grinning as the kitten once again nudged you happily.

Fleamont and Euphemia moved to the UK as adults, so James grew up speaking mostly Punjabi at home, his parents never being particularly confident in their English skills and being much more comfortable speaking in their mother tongue.

So whilst he is fluent in English, occasionally he will forget a word or phrase and he will say it in Punjabi first. This happens a lot in first year especially, and again at the beginning of each school year as he adjusts after a summer barely speaking English.

The other marauders find this hilarious so over time it becomes a game for them where James will act out the word charades style for everyone to try to guess.

When Regulus moves in with the Potters and joins the group, he initially doesn't want to join in the game but very quickly becomes unbeatable.

Everyone just assumes that it's just one of those things he's good at because he's weirdly clever so they don't question it too much.

Until one day James overhears Regulus talking to Fleamont in fluent Punjabi and he realises he learned a whole language, just so that his parents can have one more person in their home that they can speak to in their own language.

That is the day James Potter starts to fall in love with Regulus Black

regulus would be the most insufferable person to do arts and crafts with. like its valentines day and the group gathers to make cards and have some fun, meanwhile regulus' running that shit like the navy asking you how hard can it be to draw a fucking heart?? have you ever even used scissors in your life?? just fold it in half and cut it!! ugh this is too much glitter!! what are you? savages?? guys what is this?? am i the only one who had four hours of calligraphy lessons everyday for six years? (he was). at some point he just says pass me the damn hot glue gun and makes all of their cards
