Okay this a total shout into the void but if anyone knows, I need your help finding a fic.

Back in like... 2017? Possibly 2018? Around that time, there was a yuri on ice fic about Viktor finding out he has a son (Yurio) and then finds out Yurio has been adopted by Yuuri, who I believe is some sort of dance instructor in the fic. The whole fic was basically Yuuri and Viktor fighting each other for custody of Yurio because Viktor wants to take Yurio because oh my god he has a son, and Yuuri wants to keep him because on all levels except physical, Yurio is his son.

I found it because someone had posted their fanart of the fic on instagram years ago (and it's been deleted since then ;-;) and I was reading the fic itself on ao3. My friend said she was reading it on tumblr, but I wasn't on Tumblr at the time so I can't verify, but I do know For A Fact it was on ao3.

Other tidbits of information I can remember

Yuuri and Yurio were both living in Russia

Yuuri was I believe 23 and Viktor 27, their canon ages at the time I think, and Yurio was eight.

Yuuri and Yurio are just regular people

Viktor found out because he had gotten a letter from Yurio's dead mom, I can't remember what the letter said exactly beyond "you have a son."

The last chapter I left off on, the media had gotten word of this drama and Viktor's PR team, not Viktor himself, had leaked this information on Yuuri's history of depression and mental health to either pressure him into giving Yurio to Viktor, or just to make a case for future custody battles that Yuuri is unfit to parent Yurio. Viktor himself was actually super pissed off that they did that.

If anyone knows the name, what happened to it, if it ever finished, literally anything, please help a fellow reader out. I'm mostly looking for the name of it, but literally anything is good. Thank you.

I currently have 999 bookmarksgdfjh so this is gonna take a moment. And I've also been in many, many fandoms over the years, so please forgive me!

As for my name— there's only a little story!

One of my (many, lol) names mean 'sunrise', and one of my nicknames is Mah (that's the shorter version tho). Sunrisemah was a little strange imo, and Sunraymah reminds me of my Aunty's name, so Sunbeamah it was! It rolled off the tongue a little nicer too, I thought!

When I first made this account I would sometimes get confused and accidentally type in sunbae mah haha. I was reading too many manhwa!

Below the cut, in no particular order, are some of my top favourite fics that came to mind!!

Nobamaki (JJK)— witches x mafia au, what a mix!!! Absolute genius, I need to re-read this fic, it's part of what got me into nobamaki and urged me to finish jjk season 1 last year. I love Nobara and how feisty she is, and how powerful Maki is. The power struggle and I really enjoy fics with magic, and this one has a really cool system mixed with cursed techniques! I've read heaps of Rigamaroler's works, they're so good

Dabihawks (BNHA)— I remember being on Tumblr the DAY the hotwings ship started. I can't remember the exact user who started it up, but I remember in the week following it just ramped right up. I hopped on the hotwings train immediately-- even though I was even worse at using Tumblr than I am now. These 2 are fics that I LOVE, they're tied! Both set in canonverse, top one is a soulmate au, angsty with a happy ending and reformation (SUCH good angst, sometimes when I cry I come back to read it). Second one is an au where Rei divorces Endeavour and Hawks is saved from the Commission, it's so good!! Juurensha is awesome

Zolu (One Piece)— THIS ONE GOES CRAZY!!! So the backstory is like one of those christmas movies where a woman (Sanji, ironically (jkjk)) with a high powered city job goes back to her snowy home village and reunites with a charming man she grew up with, a lost love if you will (Ace), falls in love and realises her relationship with boyfriend (Zoro) is going nowhere. And said boyfriend comes to surprise her, only to find she's moved on. WITH A TWIST! A zolu twist. I love their instant attraction, they're so funny in this fic. Very real of them. Background Frobin, too!!

Karonico (Runaways)— Does anyone remember runaways?? I loved Karolina and Nico when I watched it. I hadn't read any hades/persephone au's until this fic, and ever since I've always been reminded of this one. Love their relationship, Nico's gentleness shining through the walls she's built around herself, Karolina wanting to be with Nico no matter what. It's how I like their relationship, as two girls who have been through a lot and when they come out of hard times, they want to be holding each others' hands. Very sweet!!!! This fic made me want a relationship so bad when I was younger. I still remember the OCs this fic lowkey inspired, too.

Fraxus (Fairy Tail)-- university au where Laxus is a wrestler and Freed becomes the wrestling team's social media manager. It's so so good, I love their relationship and their raw attraction. All of Eryiss' fics are amazing, I binged every fraxus fic they ever posted while I was recovering from surgery earlier this year. So good, alleviated my pain 100x better than medication haha

Klance (Voltron)— ahh yes, my voltron phase. My dark past, if u will. Jk jk. I made on ao3 account just to bookmark this fic haha! It's been so long, but I have to give this fic its roses. Lost in space au, injuries, fighting, angst, getting together, the whole lot. It was amazing, changed my life, genuinely. Cw for past non-con in Lance's life.

Elhani / Teleanor (The Good Place)— I can't figure out which ship name I like better. This is the fifth fic I ever bookmarked, I read this instead of studying for an important test. It was absolutely worth it. I remember it took me hours to read 'cause I kept trying to picture every scene perfectly. And also because I'd stop to 'study' haha. Tahani and Eleanor struggle with their attraction to one another, and yet it's love at first sight (I LOVE love at first sight..).

Sasunaru (Naruto)— I have to admit something. I love omegaverse. I know it's not for everyone, but it's definitely for me. Usually I go for F!omega x F!omega (i have a nobamaki wip of this), M!alpha x M!beta, those dynamics are super fun to me. But this one is M!alpha x M!omega, which I also love of course.

Anyways, I loved this fic, read it all in one night and then re-read it the next day, and when the final chapter came out I reread it all again haha. I'm a Naruto glazer, every time I read a fic and Sasuke acts like he's doing Naruto a favour by dating him, I want to claw at him. He doesn't know how lucky he is! In this fic, Sasuke knows his place! Jk jk, but I really do love their all-encompassing love for and devotion to each other, and I think it's especially present here!

Viktuuri (YOI)— Another omegaverse! This is also royalty au, Viktor is a little dark here but not to Yuuri and that's what I'm all about loll. It also has mpreg. Anyways, the protectiveness and cold opulence is something I really enjoy, and whenever I feel terrible and don't want to write, I'll read this and feel comforted that, between me and him, at least one of us is having a good timejfbhdgk.

Yuuri On Ice (Mostly Viktuuri) Fic Recs

Zanka by rinsled05

A historical au set in the Edo period of Japan. Yuuri is a high-ranking courtesan (basically a prostitute) that Viktor meets while on a political trip to Japan. Very well-written and beautifully traumatic. I am a massive sucker for well-written historical aus, and from what I can tell, it's pretty accurate, and even if it wasn't, it still makes you feel the absolute horror of Yuuri's situation. This fic will put you through the emotional fucking wringer, but the ending is well-worth it.

Take Strength by stammiviktor

A post-canon fic about Yuuri and Viktor adopting a son. Tooth-rottingly sweet and domestic. We desperately need more kidfics in this fandom.

Polyglot Variations by spoken

A sort of character-study of Viktor and his life examined through the lens of his multilingualism. This is legit one of my favorite fanfics ever. This is literally so good and realistic that it feels like canon. It should be. Just. Fucking read it.

hood & glove by Fahye and hawberries

Otayuri fantasy au, where Yuri is a fairy and needs Otabek's help with the plot. I love Otayuri, but most of the fics I find of them aren't really up to my tastes, but this is really good, even if it is short. Fantasy aus don't tend to be my cup of tea, but if you like fantasy aus, you'll like this one.

Some of the best fics in the yoi fandom are the ones that are both extremely fluffy and extremely smutty. This is one of them. Just a cute domestic fic about Viktor and Yuuri moving to Russia with a LOT of smut. Like, it's basically just 30k of well-written smut and couple bonding, and it's amazing.

I need to have a little vent for a moment. This is going to talk about adult books so if you’re a kid or aren’t in to that don’t keep going. Also I’m relatively new to using tumblr and I think I have all of one follower (shoutout to you!) so I’m not really sure who will see this (because I admittedly don’t know how this works yet). I just need to put this out in the universe somewhere. I saw something earlier talking about how smutty books are becoming more mainstream and that bothered this person because people should be reading more than just “spicy” books. Which to me is a terrible take but okay. The part that really got my goat though was how they made the observation that this has led to more smut books coming out and some of them aren’t written any better than fanfic. If someone doesn’t like smut or want to read fanfic fine. But to imply that a book is somehow supposed to be superior to fanfic because the author had the idea and follow through to have it published? Absolutely not. I have been reading romance novels since 2010 and I have been reading exclusively m/m romance since 2013/2014. In those 13 years I have come across some really terrible published books. Also some of the best most beautiful things I have read were written by fanfic authors about Harringrove, Harringroveson, or Victuuri. I would even argue that to write fan fiction in some ways can be more difficult. To write a story of your own creation while keeping to the minutiae of a character that you didn’t create and everyone knows is absolutely mind boggling. So shout out to all you fanfic writers who I love. I see you and I love you!

For the next week, all anyone could talk about was the sudden and abrupt return of the marchionesses’ only son. The town was beside itself noting how tall Lord Yarmouth was, how distinguished his features and how handsome he had become. The ladies complimented his fashionable manners and the gentlemen had gone to the tailors in droves—eager to replicate his smart dress and modern cravat.

Viktor had returned ornamented by war and refined through his time abroad—something their little corner of England rarely experienced outside of merchants like Ser Okukawa. He was a novelty. Society clamoured to renew their acquaintance with him as they had with his mothers years ago.

Afterall, it was a truth universally acknowledged that a single alpha in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a mate, and Lord Yarmouth had both wealth and prestige in spades.

It was with that in mind that half the ton set their caps at him. All except Yuuri.

Privately, the omega found all these would-be spouses lacking, though he supposed that made them as incompatible with the earl as he was.

“Would you like to dance?” Nikita asks. The ribbon in his hair is loosening, his ponytail dropping lower and a few short pieces falling out to frame his face.  He really is beautiful, Yuuri thinks, obnoxious remarks aside. Like the yokai his sister used to warn him about when they were kids, some mesmerizing, impish creature up to no good. He swallows against the uncomfortable lump in his throat.  “Next time,” he promises, and he doesn’t know why he says it, why he just willingly opened up his future to more, but he finds that he means it. He just can’t do it now. How is it possible to feel so thrilled and so scared at the same time? “Next time,” Nikita repeats, and Yuuri can’t understand why his declination has him looking so disappointed. A teasing smile tugs at his lips. “I’ll hold you to that, you know.” Yuuri rolls his eyes, bumping their shoulders together. “Oh, I know you will.” Yuuri’s well aware that he will never hear the end of this promise until he sees it through—and he knows he’ll personally be thinking about it nonstop until then too.

Wholesome Domestic things Victuuri do for each other; a headcanon thread

Things Victor does for Yuuri:

- Victor is a very verbally and physically affectionate person, but he expresses his love through actions as well.

- On those infrequent occasions in which Yuuri falls asleep before Victor (often from sheer exhaustion), Victor gently removes Yuuri’s glasses and folds them up neatly on the nightstand. He removes Yuuri’s phone or laptop from his lap as delicately as he can without disturbing his fiancé, and plugs them in, double checking that Yuuri’s alarms are on for the morning. (Victor has his own alarms, but he’s an early bird by habit and necessity; Yuuri is much less likely to stir from his slumber with only one alarm) Victor places a tender good-night kiss wherever he can reach—usually Yuuri’s cheek or forehead— and tucks his sleeping lover into their fluffy duvet.

- Victor’s second sentence of the day to Yuuri, after his initial “Good morning, sunshine!” and good-morning kiss (To which Yuuri half-heartedly protests, because “Nooo I haven’t brushed my teeth yet, get off me Vitya—“) is usually “coffee or tea?” Whichever one Yuuri chooses that morning, he whips up in their coffeemaker or kettle while Yuuri gets ready. Victor always drinks coffee if he chooses to have a beverage that morning, but he always makes sure to put his and his fiancé’s drinks in their matching Stammi Vicino costume mugs (yes, they’re custom).

- Yuuri had his fair share of harsh winters during his time in Detroit, but his year in Hasetsu lowered his cold tolerance a bit. However, Victor makes sure Yuuri has nice coats (“You will always be wearing coats around here, Yuuri! At least some of them need to be formal!) , snuggly hats and scarves, snow boots, and gloves (Yuuri asks about the undeniably expensive leather gloves he is gifted, which feel like a bed of clouds on the inside yet are finished with the most lavish of black leather on the outside. “Are these designer, Victor?” “No, Yuuri, they’re custom, of course!”)

- Victor always makes the bed. It is somewhat out of wanting a neat and tidy bed for himself and his lover to flop onto after a tough day of training, but also because he feels a bit guilty; he sleeps “like a fish out of water,” as some might say; His long, muscular limbs sprawl in every direction, nearly kicking Yuuri off of the bed, while Yuuri is curled up in a blanket-hogging pile as a result of his involuntary self-preservation instincts. (Clearly the solution that works every night is for Yuuri to keep his fiancé’s twisting and turning contained by being the big spoon).

- Yuuri takes extremely hot showers, except when ordered not to by his coach (“Yuuuuri, don’t even think about touching the hot water faucet today! The water needs to be cold to rejuvenate your muscles. Coach’s orders!” Victor says in a playful tone, but Yuuri knows every word is very serious. Yuuri groans, but complies every time. He knows how to pick his battles as the world’s most legendary athlete’s protégé and fiancé.) When he steps out of the shower, he’ll often find a fresh towel folded nicely on the counter by the door. It’s always deliciously warm and soft, the handiwork of his fiancé, who tossed his towel into the dryer while he was showering in order to reward him for taking those cold (but necessary) showers.

- If Victor is not heating up a towel for Yuuri, he’s usually in the shower with him. It’s not always sexual, especially considering their back-breaking training schedule near competitions, but they always enjoy the skinship. Victor specifically likes to wash Yuuri’s hair; Yuuri’s hair is thick and soft, combined with the water and shampoo and conditioner, it feels like heaven to run his hands through. Yuuri enjoys it too, letting Victor scratch his scalp with his soapy fingers and gently tilt his head back to let the water rinse it away, Victor’s gentle hands aiding the process.

Things Yuuri does for Victor:

- Yuuri is a bit shy still at initiating verbal affection, so a lot of his expressions of love show themselves through acts of service.

- Yuuri knows that Victor’s comeback is hard on him, mentally and physically. Victor tries to keep a bright face for his student and fellow skaters, but Yuuri knows well enough to see when Victor’s at his breaking point— He can see the tiny winces when Victor walks, the incessant bouncing of his left knee (it gets stiff when it’s still for too long), the quickness with which he takes off his skates at the end of ice time to put his tennis shoes back on, in order to get a long stretch in before his muscles lose their warmth. He notices it in his verbal behavior, too; hearing a lot more “I’m fine, love,” and not enough of the usual bubbliness in his voice. He gets a little more reserved, a little less out there, sometimes even engaging in less physical contact with his own fiancé. Before, this might have scared Yuuri into his own spiral of, does he not love me anymore? , but Yuuri knows well enough now how to get Victor back on the right path. It starts with a massage. Yuuri lies Victor on the bed, chest down, and starts quietly working the painful knots out of his shoulders and lower back. He takes his time moving down his legs and back to his arms, really trying to get him to relax. By the time Yuuri starts working on the front of his body, specifically his quads, Victor starts talking about what’s bothering him. Victor finds it hard to open up, and Yuuri knows this. He certainly knows how it feels to be scared to tell someone something, so he doesn’t mind helping his soulmate relax this way. He knows that with time, it won’t take all of this for Victor to talk about what’s bothering him, but for the time being, Yuuri revels in the intimacy of it.

- Off the ice and outside the dance studio, Yuuri could be a bit clumsy. As a kid, he was a magnet for bumps and cuts and scratches and bruises; from falling up the stairs to cutting his finger by shattering a bowl on the kitchen counter while he was lipsyncing to J-Rock a little too intensely, Yuuri has seen just about every bit of minor first aid there is. In college, he was known as “The Band-Aid Man,” for being the only person in their dorm who had Band-Aids (He eventually just bought a jumbo pack and stuck them on a table in the hallway so people would stop knocking on his door at ungodly hours because of papercuts). Victor is similarly clumsy off of the ice, especially in the domestic sphere; like the time he slammed the dryer door on his finger, or the time he accidentally nicked himself under the knee while shaving his legs. Thankfully, Katsuki “The Band-Aid Man” Yuuri was there to save his husband from his unfortunate fate! (After stopping the bleeding, Yuuri gently applied antibacterial ointment and then a bandaid to Victor’s shaving wound. “Yuuri, you’re my hero!” Victor says dramatically, smiling widely.) Whenever Victor gets a minor wound, Yuuri is always there to bandage it and kiss it better. (Mostly bandage it, but Victor always gets a kiss, too.)

- Victor’s “sleep early, wake early” tendencies have lead to many nights of unfinished movies. Yuuri doesn’t mind, though. He either gently leads his half-asleep fiancé to the bathroom to brush his teeth, or picks up his sleeping form bridal-style and takes him to the bedroom. He’ll make sure Victor isn’t wearing anything too restricting and tuck him in quietly, placing a gentle kiss on his forehead before going to get ready for bed himself.
