Nonnative
How many of us feel like members of a diaspora, like an expatriate without a native country? Not born in the wrong place, not a refugee. Born in some place that is now mythical (maybe it always was). Born nowhere.

#beautiful things list in the tags#so i can remember a day that seemed full of them#going to the religious bookstore and finding lots of things (the beautiful advent wreath!)#quick trip to the library and picking up a couple of middle grade books on a whim#(short things that don't add much to the overwhelming tbr but add a bit of joy into the options list)#going to wendy's and getting a lime coke#listening to fascinating religious history things that opened up new ideas and made new connections with what i'd been reading#wedding dress shopping with my sister#in a cute little shop with nice staff#where i felt like my input was helpful#wandering a bit in a city we never go to#in a rainy chilly late night atmosphere that felt very hallmark christmas movie#(in a good cozy way not in the over-the-top christmas decorations way)#thrift shopping and finding a lightweight sweater that fills a need in my wardrobe#(since we've had a warm year that limits me to only a few of my sweaters)#coming home and finding that a book i ordered had arrived#lots of lovely poem recommendations and conversations#some sights on a rainy day that filled me with that fantasy sort of awe and longing#seeing a distant shore through a fog that looked like an ancient castle rising up out of the mist#a hill of plants topped with crimson leaves that looked like a fabric or wallpaper pattern come to life#it was just a day filled with a lot of beauty#and i made a conscious effort to notice it#one of those days you want to keep

i wrote a 500 word dynamic poem for neo-twiny jam :-)
i rewrote this in a few different ways with a handful of different drafts before settling on just doing a poem; this originally came from a full branching narrative i've had stewing for a while, and i might come back to it one day. but for now i enjoyed channeling that into this poem, which has also been very influenced by the fact that i've been writing hungry vampires for almost 2 months now.... it was also my first time messing with audio in twine, which ended up being way easier than i expected (i'm sure it helped that i only used one audio sample tho)
faith does contain sexual content, and while not super explicit, it is the main theme of the poem.
anyways hope you enjoy and check out the other entries here!

Who follows whom?
I came back home
and monsters followed me.
Yet I wonder,
if it wasn't them that
own this place
and I'm just their guest.

Hello! May I ask, do you know which poem the “I’m so jealous of euthanized dogs” line is from? I remember you had it in the caption but I completely forgot
The title of the poem is “I get so jealous of euthanized dogs” & this is the full poem!

Thinking about how most of the time when you have the option to stay quiet during a companion quest you get approval for letting them handle it and sometimes even get disaproval for talking over them
And then with Shadowheart's quest speaking up with Viconia not only gives a +5(while *keep silent* gives nothing) but also if you don't do that she will look genuinely scared when Viconia asks you to hand her over

I don’t remember it being cold
I don’t remember it being cold the first time we met, but it must have been. It was December in San Francisco. We walked all night, stopping at each and every corner to kiss. Again and again, like it didn’t seem real. I remember the boardwalk, and the movie we saw. How you told me you fought when you were younger. How that made you smile. My card declined at dinner. I could’ve died. Your mom’s fish tank. Blue green and glowing. I remember it all so well, so perfectly. How I felt warm all over. How my entire world became a single person. When we broke up, I remember how you cried, and tried to tell me you loved me. I told you it wouldn’t work, and you would find someone better. The first was a lie, but the latter was true. I remember hanging up and knowing my little world had become vast and terrible once more. I alone in it. I alone for it. I don’t remember it being cold when we met, but I know I froze to death in the end.

Chronically
by Yuki White @yukiwhitetm @sentariana
I'm so tired
Of being tired.
I wish I could be
Full of energy.
I wish I could run
Like a tiger chasing the sun!
I wish I could swim
Like a dolphin bobbing and diving!
I wish I could climb
Like an ape reaching for the sky!
I wish I could live
Like an able human takes and gives.
But you're not me
And I'm not you, clearly.
So, I have to keep living as me,
Tired, Pained, Chronically.

we read erotica
i. so, today at the library we again saw each other hurried away down aisles of shelves of books found Little Birds-Anaïs Nin, sat down right there took turns reading aloud. soon your blouse was clinging so gently across your chest moist with the summer heat each story our bodies simmered yearning to be closer your breath rippling down my neck then you kiss me. we pretty much melt into the night.
ii. just before getting kicked out of the library at midnight we were using flash lights on the pages. the way your lips form all these words read with so much passion. it is exhilarating, this zest for life. we dressed faster than those footsteps, turned out to be security. we asked officer please would you show us the way out? we were so scared you see when all the lights went out, so, we stayed put. now that you are here you may assist us to the exit. also, it sounded like someone was living in the autobiography section might check that out. thank thank you you officer, very professional. we hope you enjoy your evening. bye.
iii. outside we kiss some more. read with the moonlight. kiss some more. read. kiss. it is a night such as this slows down a little the spiral you feel it too. here, my turn to read. then, we kiss.
