Little Bit Of The Past
I was thinking, we never got the chance to know about Bullfrog's past. I mean he's the only one we know the least about; except he is an assassin, he is the last of them and he has some moral codes and apparently he knows a lot/ have experience about vengeance.
AND that he was used to watch Rayman as a kid. (And that he took part in a war. Okay I learned the war's name. The wasteland war.)
This gives us a waay more open space to fill in. And I can happily do that with my own headcanon. (I might add it in my fics too but not too sure lol, it's all up to you guys wanting me to add it or not)
So I first thought maybe he had a pretty normal life as a kid. Grew up in a family with a mom and dad. I also thought (because frogs literally give birth to so many babies) he has a lot of brothers and sisters?
Maybe Rayman when he was a kid (like most of the kids) was his favorite show.
I am going to make this post a bit quick so... One day some soldiers came and killed his parents and took his siblings and him prisoner. Some assassins rescued him and taught him their ways. He ignores it and goes to rescue his siblings but finds them all dead? And he wanted revenge so he finds the person did all this and killed him but it was nearly costing his life as his mentor saved him but he died in the process and he swears to never follow the path of vengeance ever again.
This was my take on why he doesn't like vengeance. That's all, thank you for reading! (Still not feeling like this is his entire past but this will do for now~ Btw I have no idea how he is the last assassin. I don't know if there is a canon part of this but if not I am gonna assume that they all died in that war and he is the only survivor. I believe this because when Pey'j died his reaction gave me the vibe maybe something similar happened in his past, because he looked so desperate and upset (yeah he was his friend even though he knew him a little it might be normal but still))
Also off topic but I don't believe he died (his bomb activated) in the end when Laserhawk pressed the button and activated his bomb. I dunno but I have a feeling that Bullfrog is now freed with the bracelet broken. (He is still held by Eden but still lol) But I am sure Sarah has some big plans for him. (Because he is seemingly the only one that still alive lol) And if someone is alive in a show this means something will happen XD I am also really unsure if Rayman/Ramon will be the one to save him but anyway.

One of my favorite post-EPIC headcanons is that Odysseus' family is just completely accepting of all the unhinged sh*t that he's done.
Odysseus, over dinner, some 2 months after his return: And then I finned the sirens, letting them drown. We ate the tails later.
Telemachus, starry-eyed: OMG GUYS THAT'S MY DAD!! THAT IS!! MY DAD!! (points excitedly) ISN'T HE INCREDIBLE?
Odysseus: And later when he wouldn't stop being in my way I stabbed a god repeatedly with his own trident.
Penelope, heart-eyed: That's my husband. My love. Love of my life. You slay, my king.
The rest of the people at the table are 100% freaked out and probably terrified, btw.
#epic the musical#epic odysseus#epic the vengeance saga#epic musical#jorge rivera herrans#oddyseus#odypen#penelope is 100% supportive of her husband's unhingedness#actually she may be into it#telemachus is just as into it but like in a different way#he's a proud son#odysseus doesn't actually approve of how proud they are#but at least they aren't judging him#odysseus

The director of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 saying the reason Gerald was alive is because it was a waste of comedic talent to have Jim play two characters and them never interact (which like— why would you be looking at comedic talent when referring to one of the franchise’s darkest and most vengeful characters, but okay it’s a choice?) as well as the fact that these movies have a constant theme of finding family, so they wanted to explore what would happen if Robotnik found family…
But what if— now hear me out everyone..
What if in the movie that is introducing Shadow and his backstory and has been marketed as a SHADOW movie in the year of SHADOW… they focused on Shadow and let him find family?!
Just a thought.
#sonic movie 3#sonic movie#Sonic 3#sth 3#sonic cinematic universe#still kinda salty about how much robotnik was in this movie#and how silly it was because of that#never disliked Jim Carrey’s portrayal as Robotnik as much as I did in this movie#was seriously not serious enough#why would they want COMEDIC TALENT for one of the DARKEST AND MOST VENGEFUL CHARACTERS IN THE FRANCHISE???#shadow the hedgehog#sonic the hedgehog#keanu shadow#movie shadow#Robotnik#ivo robotnik#Gerald Robotnik#Eggman#Jim Carrey#my posts#my post#and all that just to realize stone was his family all along like??#im sorry— I didn’t like this choice at all#and why couldn’t shadow be Eggman’s family???#I would’ve enjoyed seeing Eggman try his hardest to get shadow to be like his brother or son and shadow constantly shun him#because he’s on a mission for vengeance#would’ve loved that way more#just saying

Apollo's entire vibe in God Games feels like "Dad Said I Had to Be Here" and I feel like that's so Golden Child of him
#seph listens to epic#epic the musical#epic the wisdom saga#apollo epic the musical#wisdom saga spoilers#i don't know why this is the funniest thing to me#like ive been listening to god games a lot#and like i think ares really wants to try and prove himself against athena#and hephaestus and hera want her to give at least one solid argument even if it doesn't have to be important to anyone else#aphrodite has like... a personal issue that needs to be argued but like. that's how love is. fickle and in need of personal justification#apollo like. did not bring a personal justification to the table. he even has sun imagery in the animatic#like yeah the song did not specify it was helios' cows and the musical has a theme of fathers getting vengeance for their sons#aeolus was a king in the Odyssey not a god so changing the sun god from helios to apollo whose cattle were slain is very minor#and would emphasize the theme of fathers and children and cycles of vengeance and Helios does get absorbed by Apollo so like. augh#either way. this guy did not prepare for the debate because he has so many other jobs and grabbed the latest thing he could think of#'Odysseus... uh. he. sirens. right. did that thing right? no? if that's true fuck it. if not i don't care.'#he doesn't even fully commit. he says 'if that's true release him'#he got that fucking prophet trickster tongue bullshit noncommittal agreement#because technically if Athena is proven faulty he can be like 'i said if it's true release him but it wasn't true oops'#don't expect straight answers from the god of prophets

logically we may never seen Battison have Dick and Jason but I feel the thematic return of "Sins Of The Father" arc coming full circle with Jason / Red Hood would just go so hard
#ignore me#Bruce truly having to understand the mistakes his own father made by seeing himself fail in the same ways#resulting in the death of one of his sons... oughhh#Red Hood arriving amplifying all of this. The themes of vengeance vs hope...#Jason also becoming Bruce in the story#the one who inherited his fathers' sins trying to find his own beliefs w his own obsession with vengeance at the same time#Battison is such a perfect iteration of Batman to have Dick and Jason in live action. From personality#to the central themes of parenthood#battison#batman#ignore me pls this is just a rant that i could go on for hours

Okay I don’t wanna sound like a dick cause it’s really not a big deal. But I guess because Medea as a play and character is like really important to me, there is kind of an amusing irony to the way I’ve seen so many edits and webweaves and stuff of Alicent with that “wretchedest of women” line from Medea (A line specifically about Medea choosing to kill her sons to avenge herself on Jason). Then those people being completely aghast and disgusted and pissed by the concept of Alicent sacrificing her sons. It means nothing It’s just kinda funny to me
#the line isn’t a general ‘oh I’m a woman who will lower myself for revenge’#it’s ’I’m willing to destroy even what I love most to kill my own kids for my revenge’#her vengeance comes specifically in the way she commits the ultimate perversions of expected womanhood in her culture#by killing the very sons she is expected to devote her life to#she betrays her father she helps kill her brother (and denies him burial) she retaliates against her husband and kills her sons#if you wanna focus on Alicent as a very family/child focused in her anger or whatever that’s fine#but Medea is a bizarre choice for that#like this is literally just me bitching because it was on my mind it’s not a big deal#and I use quotes outside of context too this one just felt especially ironic

servamp is like you will let your children inherit the blood that has been shed in your war and your children's children will teach their children that this is normal, this is what it takes to be a person. and then one day they'll realize hey this is wrong. the world doesn't have to be like this! but you have never taught them how to resolve conflict without blood. but they know hurting others will simply continue the cycle of violence, so the blood they shed will be their own
#servamp#this is about the eves#your son watched his mother died and he thought hey i can use this#your nephew watched you felled by a sword and he thought i must die a hero i must die a martyr it is the only way#you taught your daughter how to create weapons but you never taught her ethics and she ended up facing her own sin on the battlefield#where she finally learned what rage means and she was angry that the adults wont let her fight in this war THEY let her in#you sheltered your son and isolated him from the real world and he broke free from his cage and into the fire#because you told him to be the leader but never taught him to be one so he learned by mimicking his friends#he is a child he extended his hand for you still believing in you and you cannot grab his hand because you love him and want to protect him#from the flame of your vengeance yet you dont love him enough to admit you are not too far gone#despite pride is what killed you and the child you waged a war for#i can write more but lol

hiiii really enjoyed your chenglingposting i was thinking about how sometimes the kids in adult stories function as a sort of barometer for optimism about the future in their views and options in life... obviously the alliance wants to continue the cycle of antagonizing and vengeance and conflict with the veneer of "honor" but. zcl gets to choose not to. its been a while since I either read or watched, do you know if zcl was ever onboard with actually wanting vengeance or if that was just being pushed on him? Obv its not super in line w his personality but grief could be a factor. i just thought it'd make a lot of sense if he changed his mind on that due to the influence of wenzhou and how they prioritize enjoying life w your people and following your own path over expectations. priest really took one more chance to emphasize breaking cycles/"if it sucks hit the bricks"
hi!! omg!!! thank you and im glad you enjoyed it! honestly this is a question i have been thinking about since at least two rereads ago. the show and the novel are handling this issue of zcl picking up his legacy / giving in to external expectations / finding out what he really wants in life a little differently, i think, as befitting of what they both focus on. ive said in my chenglingpost that the show is about legacy and inheritance in my eyes, while the novel is about martial arts and freedom of choice. obvs freedom of choice is a high priority in word of honor as well, but word of honor seems to have an overarching look, kind of focusing on the big picture and what a generation / a community needs rather than a few individuals, while the novel focuses exclusively on wenzhou and their little group and seems to handle the rest of the themes in priest's usual style. the show is about something "grand", the novel is about the mundane, almost boring human experience. martial arts play a bigger role in the latter too because they are a stand-in for many things that are hard to grasp, like autonomy. in chengling's context, martial arts are irrevocably linked with seeking revenge. i think that is specifically in the novel the case, not so much in the show. in the show seeking revenge is pushed onto him by others as well as inheriting his sect's legacy and becoming worthy of being his father's son. in the novel, the idea of seeking revenge is first presented to him by gu xiang, and it is actually this huge contrast to how others treat him because others "generously" offer to take revenge for him, while gu xiang tells him he can do that himself. we see with wen kexing that getting revenge does not make u happy. it gives u closure but it does not make u happy. i think that is something chengling learns during the novel. he gets closure in the end but it does not look the way he had imagined it would. i think he imagined himself to get super strong and then single-handedly slay his foes. yknow, as u often see in wuxia and as wen kexing literally does. then he starts learning martial arts and realizes getting super strong is actually not that easy, and this chasm between what he expects of himself and what he is able to achieve gets wider and wider and he falls into depression spirals, because to chengling, seeking revenge was taking ownership of his life and his trauma, and what use does he have when he cant even do that? that is the path wen kexing walks and it hollowed him out and it would have him kill himself if he hadnt met zhou zishu; wen kexing viewed himself as an instrument for a very long time rather than as someone deserving of having his own life. so obvs, that path is rubbish by itself (wkx gets his revenge and his closure and his life, good for him!) and its far too much for a kid. and i think, that is what chengling learns here: he only needs to do as much as he can, only bite off what he can chew, and the rest should not be his concern. and there really turns out to be a way to get everything he needs without walking the same path as wen kexing, as the novel proves, because wen kexing had nobody when he was in the same situation while trying to survive the valley, while chengling has wenzhou who guide him and shield him and love him. (crying myself into a huddle over wen kexing and chengling and them being foils of each other.) so in that sense youre already putting it into words. chengling seems to have changed his mind over the course of the novel, he doesnt have that same outlook on vengeance as he as in the start. i think thats different for the show. in the show, there is this weighing of the concept of revenge against the concept of getting justice, and what both these things do and require of a person and what they can offer u as an individual, but also u as a collective, in the long run. they are seen as two different things and are explored and qestioned individually. i think that can be seen in the conflict with chengling and all these expectations everyone has of him and how he handles that.
#i cant say much more regarding the show rn. but i think it does something very similar to the novel#re: wen kexing and chengling getting their closure parallel to each other and being foils of each other#one walking a path the other doesnt have to or doesnt get to#chengling is kinda symbolically getting the kind of justice wkx would have deserved to and gets now through chengling#but for the show#their closure is not just holding the big bad accountable. its also the community effort of forging a better future together#aa this went off track. but i cant get into more detail re: chengling and vengeance for the show. still in my rewatch!#i hope this answers your question anyway!!!!#thank you for sending it to me i had a lot of fun!#i have a lot more to say but tumblr seems to impose a word limit on answering asks! >:(#something something martial arts are zzs's way of communication and he uses that rather than his words to give chengling what he needs#something something practising martial arts helps chengling discover the boundaries of his own body and reverts him back into a child#rather than the orphaned failure of a son who needs revenge to give himself meaning. like a tool.#something something martial arts is both chengling's cause of suffering and his tool of freeing himself#something something zzs knows for pretty much most of the novel that zcl has this grand potential inside him and simply ignores it#something something chengling's shifu (he has a shifu in the novel before zzs!) is an idiot who doesnt even see his disciple's potential#who blames chengling instead of reflecting upon himself (and how thats kinda like schools blaming neurodivergent and other kids for failing#and how zzs notices chengling's inert dormant potential / difficulty practically immediately and is probs uniquely qualified to teach him#drawing from his own experience with harsh teaching methods and surviving impossible tasks and breaking through body limits and difficultie#paired with being bamf at martial arts and probs having this vast pool of knowledge#something something zzs acting nasty but doing good (and nobody knows) and chengling turning out happier and more stable in the end#inbox#geneticcatalyst#tian ya ke#faraway wanderers#word of honor#meta#zhang chengling#zhou zishu#wen kexing

Watched the Robert Patterson Batman movie tonight and it was pretty funny.
My favourite parts:
- my mom: “I’ve never seen this guy before. Who is he?”
Me: “Robert Patterson. You know, the one from twilight.”
Her: “ohh, right. I was asleep for most of that”
My mom proceeded to spend the majority of this film asleep as well. Probably even more so than twilight. I guess Robert Patterson just has that effect on her. (that is a joke. My mom sleeps through like 90% movies regardless of cast. Especially action movies. Maybe she is just soothed by violence.)
- Selena ❤️❤️❤️😳😳😳🤭🤭🥰🥰🥰🫣🫣🫣
- I love how Batman is just some guy in a weird costume who shows up places. He’s just so ridiculous in a realistic setting and I love how bewildered everyone is by his appearance like “who are you and wtf are you wearing you look ridiculous”
- Selena being like “you must be rich 🙄🙄” to Batman and Batman being like “uhh what makes you say that O_O;;”
- also every time Selena was shit talking Bruce Wayne to Batman. Very funny
- when Batman and the riddler were face timing and you could see Batman in the little fucking window at the top of the phone screen. It was just so funny I couldn’t stop laughing through that entire scene it was just so goofy looking
- the penguin car chase
- when the penguin got tied up at his feet so he could only shuffle like a penguin
- actually the penguin in general was pretty funny. Loved his accent. Loved all of the accents in this movie tbh. I love accents
- also my brain is so poisoned by memes that every time the “there’s something in the way” song came on all I could think of was “there’s something in my ass. MmmmMmmMmmMm” but I feel like it added more than detracted from the experience
Solid 4/5 movie
#I don’t really have any frame of reference for this movie in terms of Batman movies bc this is the first Batman movie I’ve ever seen#in terms of being a movie movie though I thought it was pretty awesome#explosions. fighting. death. corruption. pretty lady w cats and a thrust for vengeance (wink wink). what more could you want#the only thing it was missing was homoeroticism#the internet led me to believe it was way gayer than it actually was smh#like sure. the riddler was obv all over bruceman but bruce was just kinda. doing his own thing?#also I was kinda expecting it to be revealed that the riddler was the son of the reporter guy who got whacked#bc yknow. the whole ‘the sins of the father’ thing the film had going on w Bruce and Selena#but that would’ve been too on the nose. I like that they didn’t do that bc I like riddler just being some guy screwed over by the system#vesicle

Out of these, it would have to be either Wolfy's or duvetbox's version. The other 3 are literally just babygirls. Just three silly, little guys.
Not that bbgs can't fight but y'know... I feel like they would get torn to shreads by the other two.
I think Wolfy's Odysseus would actually know how to fight and would fight well. Meanwhile duvetbox's Ody is literally just feral, like a wild animal. He doesn't even fight, just bites and scratches. Probably hisses too.
So, you know all the different interpretations in how people draw (epic) Odysseus ?
Examples:
(Gigi, duvetbox, aniflamma, Ximena Natzel, and Wolfythewitch respectively)
What version of Odysseus (including but not limited to these examples) would win against the others in a fight?
Comment / reblog with the Odysseus drawings you want to see, and who you think would win. Polls start soon
#gigi's ody has my heart#so does anni's#all of them do#but damn#gigi and anni made him such a cutiepie and for what#like pls#this is a grown ass man with a wife and a 20yo son#don't even get me started on ximena's version#i just wanna pinch his cheeks#he has hamster vibes#i will not elaborate#epic the musical#epic#the odyssey#epic odysseus#odysseus#the wisdom saga#the vengeance saga#wolfythewitch#anniflamma#gigizetz#ximena natzel#duvetbox#manwhore au#manwhore au epic#yes I am saying that manwhore au Odysseus could win against the others in a fight#no I will not explain#yes there are other ways of persuasion#manwhore au ody would ofc win btw cuz he escapes alive with his crew#so that's a big plus

I've touched on this in a couple of other semi-related posts before, but I find it hilarious and I appreciate how much Johanna Hezenkoss thinks Emmrich is the protagonist of Veilguard. Like, this woman could not give less of a fuck about Rook. She almost always refers to Rook only by their relationship to Emmrich. She refers to Rook as "one of Volkarin's hangers-on," "that impudent whelp following [Emmrich] around," "Volkarin's companion," and as Emmrich's "paramour." None of these imply that she thinks Rook has much agency. Instead, she acts like Rook is just helplessly following Emmrich around like a puppy, helping him complete tasks (which I guess is partly true).
If Rook romances Emmrich, Hezenkoss assumes that Emmrich seduced Rook and not the other way around, even though Emmrich is noticeably older than Rook and has hardly left the Necropolis in years. She's seemingly amazed by it, and yet it never once crosses her mind that Rook might have initiated the relationship (which is actually the case).
She also refers to Emmrich as the one who destroyed her construct, which is technically true, but she ignores the major assistance he had from Rook, another companion, and most notably Manfred. He couldn't have pulled it off without their help, and had in fact given up, but Hezenkoss acts like Emmrich was her sole opponent in that battle.
I've said before that part of the reason for this is that Hezenkoss seems to think of herself as the main villain of the story, so Emmrich must be the main hero. Hezenkoss says that some of the other big bads of Dragon Age, the Venatori, were nothing more to her than slightly useful and genuinely annoying. She clearly thinks herself above an entire organization of some of the most powerful mages in the world. And she sees Emmrich as pretty close to her in terms of raw power, since she almost invited him to her Vengeance Party but ultimately decided he was too much of a danger to her plans. She also states that she tried to get him to join her in the past, which I don't think she would do for anyone she considered to be less than her equal. Emmrich is genuinely the only person in the game she shows any respect for. Though she mocks his age and finds him to be too sentimental, too moral, and too fearful, she shows signs of agreeing with him on some topics, and she obviously respects his abilities if nothing else. No one else in the game acknowledges his frankly ridiculous knowledge and skill level (except Solas in the end) as much as Hezenkoss does.
And really, Emmrich does have main character energy. Though he does have some age and mortality related fears, dude is overflowing with confidence. When you first meet him, looking for a Fade expert, he has absolutely no problem telling you he's the best possible person for the job. Though he apparently hasn't left the Necropolis in years, he's totally down to join the team and go anywhere you want him to go. If you romance him, he is initially surprised, but he quickly turns into the smoothest dude around, and throughout the game you can hear him comment on some of his many relationships through the years. He's well-dressed, well-spoken, charismatic, highly educated, unfailingly kind, extremely powerful, and he's done so well for himself that Harding mistakes the son of a butcher and a cook for a member of the Nevarran nobility. No wonder Hezenkoss thinks he's the protagonist. The real protagonist is just out here winging it on guts and good luck alone.

Danny is 18, and is on the run from Vlad, who wanted to reattempt his cloning plot. In order to do that, he had to see why Dani was the only cloning that managed to survive. Sam, Tucker, the Fentons and Jazz are dead
So he kidnapped her, and in the process, Dani deaged to an infant. Currentlyx they were both nearing Gotham, and, the GIW were on their tail
Danny made it all the way to Bristol before he had to stash Dani in a alley and deal with the GIW agents
Danny doesn’t return.
An hour later Thomas and Martha Wayne were out for a walk with their one month old son when the heat faint cries of a baby from an alley.
They enter the alley and see an infant girl wrapped in a blanket covered with stars. Her only belongings were a green thermos, vials of bright green liquid and a red beanie with the name ‘Danielle Jane’ scrawled on it.
Normally they would’ve reported this to the police, but everyone knew that the police was corrupted and the fosters homes were horrible.
Besides, there was something about the girl that seemed… otherworldly.
So, the took her in.
Teh next week, the Gotham Gazette was printing papers with the front page ‘Wayne family reveals female twin, Danielle Jane Wayne!’
They had pretended that Danielle was the twin that they didn’t know about until the due date and she came out sickly, so the doctors kept her in the hospital until she recovered.
As they grew up, Dani and Bruce were inseparable, with Dani not remembering her halfa side and Bruce not knowing they weren’t twins. They looked similar enough anyway.
All that change when the twins were 8. Thomas and Martha died, and the pain, shock and grief triggered Dani’s memories of being a halfa. The death kick started Bruce’s quest for vengeance (Dani wouldn’t seek vengeance, she couldn’t, not after Dan)
They began to drift apart. Bruce didn’t tell her about his vigilante plans and Dani didn’t tell him about her halfa status.
By the time they were 19 and Bruce dropped out of collage, they both began traveling. Bruce to train, Dani to have fun.
Dani continued traveling when Bruce returned, promising to visit. Eventually Gotham forgot about the Wayne Heiress, especially as Batman appeared and Bruce adopted more children. Bruce also forgot to tell his kids about their ‘bio’ aunt
There are a couple ways the Batkids could find out about Dani
- Bruce gets lost in the Time stream and Alfred was deemed too old to get custody and Dick was deemed too young. No one knows what to do now, until Alfred calls in Dani, who arrives and immediately gets custody, reminding Gotham that she exists.
- a batkid is cleaning out the attic/empty rooms as a punishment and finds the Fenton thermos, ecto vials, and baby blanket.
Batkid (probs Dick): Bruce why do you have Lazarus pit water in your attaric??
Everyone: …
Bruce: … what?
Alfred: ah, those are your sisters
