Dunno if you can call Poseidon a bro in Christ, op 😂
But I agree with the sentiment lol
Poseidon screaming "Monster" at Odysseus has the same vibe as Victor Frankenstein calling his creature inhuman and disgusting and un-alive. My brother in Christ, you created him.

Screenshots of my 600 strike full color animatic, premiering 11.20.24, 11AM EST at youtube https://youtu.be/QlSFUmKsHpA?si=TpecE3bQzEiCDQLI
Clarification: While I do work with my wonderfully talented team for the OFFICIAL Epic animatics, I almost always work alone for fan animatics, which is the case here. Everything from animation, to color, backgrounds and special effects were done by me.

feel like I need to make clear my opinions on epic vs the source material. so obviously I've seen epic and I'm currently in the process of reading two direct translations of the Odyssey (Wilson and Fitzgerald.) I understand the disappointment with the vengeance saga and how unrealistic it seemed to actual Greek mythos- but the important thing in Greek mythology has never been consistency, it's been theme. Six hundred strike, while a little silly in the beginning, conveyed the Odyssey's themes of homecoming, death, and regret/guilt incredibly well. No, generally Odysseus would not have been able to overpower Posideon. But also, generally, Diomedes would not have been able to overpower Ares- AND APHRODITE- in the same day. But he did. Achilles, a demigod and the son of a minor goddess, nearly defied the FATES to convey, guess what, THEME. And that is something Jorge does impeccably with both his storytelling and his musical composition. I just don't think the semantics of what's "canonically feasible" to Greek mythology are important, mainly because that's not what Greek mythology is about, and because there was never a coherent classical canon in the first place. Hell, there are SIX epics which we just.... don't have because they were lost to time at some point. So we don't even know the full canon anyway.

I was listening to the Vengeance Saga, specifically "Charybdis", and had a bit of a eureka moment about the line"I am almost there, my love, don't be scared". Every single other time I've listened to that line, I always thought Odysseus was either telling Penelope to not worry about him/his safety anymore because he was finally home safe and sound, or saying she didn't have to be afraid of the suitors anymore because he had returned now and would get them the fuck away from her faster than you can say "I am the monster rah rah rah"
HOWEVER as I listened to it for what is probably the hundredth time, a third option came to mind: he was telling Penelope not to be afraid of him when she sees him after twenty long years, and sees what he has become.
P.S: HUNDREDTH IS A STUPIDLY HARD WORD TO SPELL WHAT THE FUCK

Just a little thing
Hello and welcome to midnight thoughts with Naomi
I haven't cooked all that much on Dangerous (yet), but I have a loose theory and wanna yell into the void about it (because what else do I do here lol)
It's the line "Remember every trick in your domain for this"
Think about it. Hermes the Greek God of Trickery is telling Odysseus to remember every trick in Odysseus' domain. That feels important to me.
It could be a nod to Ody's wit that we've seen throughout the show, it could be a simple nod to the fact that Hermes is Ody's great grandfather, and I'm just looking too deep into this.
But we all know how much Jorgenbong Boregenbong loves his foreshadowing, so I'd like to propose that this is the case here too. Specifically, I think it's a subtle bit of foreshadowing to Odysseus tricking the suitors into thinking he's a beggar. Maybe I'm seeing connections that aren't there because like I said, it's midnight, but there you have it.

Poseidon: How will you sleep at night?
Odysseus: Next to my wife.
Poseidon: And do you think she'll be proud of you torturing a god?!
Odysseus: Dude, she's from Sparta. Me telling her this is gonna be like foreplay for her.
