[at time of writing this] We weren't one month out of Across the Spiderverse, and I had just got home from the cinema, searched through the tag for Pavitr Prabhakar only to find really cool fanart and character analysis or memes and incorrect quotes reducing him down to either uwu soft boi or British hating uwu soft boi.
Also hate seeing MCU Peter Parker reduced down to uwu soft boi who can't tie his own shoes and needs dad Tony Stark 24/7. Did you not see Peter expressing typical teenager "I'm not a baby" feelings when he saw Tony named his things "training wheels" and stuff like that? Did you all forget he's also theeee Peter Parker Spider-Man, as in some kind-hearted kid from Queens who's brilliant in STEM with a strong attachment to his family/friends?
Reason why I never go through Pavitr tag or mcu peter parker.
I wish I can cover Transformers but I haven't read MTMTE
Hetalia is a wild one as a veteran. Romano Italy is always the guy to curse and if your fanfic is rated T or M for swearing or violence, guess who is the culprit? Did all of you forget England is more likely to curse than Romano because he's British? Forgot that Molossia's first appearance is a middle finger taking half of a panel? Romano is so flat, and he's not even violent. He would hurl a few complaints and insults but leaves it at that because he's more likely to cry drama queen style or begrudgingly ask for help after failling 100x.
Unfortunately, the opposite hurts more. Uwu soft boi edition of Romano where he's so afraid of violence, he must ask Spain for help?
I cried on the inside when someone shared an angry rooster video (and there is no Hetalia context, it's just a rooster angry) and wrote "romano bird" above the link, on a hetalia facebook group.
Really hate the design of fanon 2p! England. You all really think a second palette version of this absolutely invincible gentleman wears bright pink and a turquoise bowtie as the offset to the green uniform? Think about it. 2p! Nyo! England is the opposite palette to Nyo! England (one wears pink, the other blue, both wear a dress) and in the same pattern, 2p! North Italy is the opposite to 1p! North Italy (they wear same uniform but blue/brown). Did it not occur to you that 2p! England would be based off the green?????
i have something to say

I was half asleep and thinking about all the stories like She’s The Man and Mulan (1999) where a woman dresses up like a man in order to do something ManlyTM and how they all inevitably fall in love with the masculinity of it all while still being women (or not, I guess, fiction is flexible and gender is more so)
and I went “give me a man who chooses to dress as a woman instead of resorting to violence. Give me a man who, in finding femininity and softness, can find himself. Give me a man who chooses kindness and love over war and aggression, but the only way he can do so is finding solace in the feminine. Not because femininity is inherently softer, but because society has told him as such. Give me a man who, through trial and error, finds himself learning to love the traditional women’s tasks he’s been clumsily attempting. Give me a man who could never truly fit in with other men, and the women around him protect him and love him unconditionally. Give me a man who cannot stand for himself at first, and then rises stronger together with the people who took him in”
And I realized that “give me a man who dresses as a woman in order to avoid going to war” is just. Achilles. And I want that classically animated movie now. I don’t even care if it’s sanitized like the Disney Renaissance Mulan or Hercules, in fact I’d enjoy that. I want Achilles to choose kindness and love and beauty over the war he never wanted to fight. I want a lighthearted, playful version of Achilles where there’s a happy ending. I know it’s a tragedy, but so were a lot of things that got animated at the time (not even Disney, Anastasia and Quest for Camelot come to mind as well) and I think he and Patroclus can have a happily ever after, too
I also want it to be gay, but I think that goes without saying

some of you took "trans men are men" and ran with it and are now calling us oppressors, saying we benefit 100% from male privilege, saying we can't have internalized misogyny and a ton of other shit like i genuinely think radfems have poisoned your brains whether you realize it or not.

underappreciated Nico detail that I like - he seems to be an angry crier! very frequently he's angry when he cries and he cries when he's extremely angry. very AuDHD of him. emotional regulation sucks my guy and he's just going through it.

I don't know if I'm sad or angry about *H*H* and how it portrayed Hell and its Highest Princes, Kings, Presidents and Marquis or lack thereof. If Miss Medrano truly wanted to criticise Christianity, she could've utilised Demonology and people who work with them. And no, not all Demons are evil.
There are also videos of people having some experiences working or conjuring them and some Demons also want to share their knowledge.
King Paimon - There are videos of people talking about working with King Paimon and I highly recommend watching them. He teaches all arts, philosophies and all secrets things - an offering to him must be made.
Prince Orobas - faithful to the ones that conjure him, never deceives them, gives true answers to past, present and things to come, divinity and creation of the world, confers dignities and prelacies, and favour of friends and foes. - this Prince could be a nice depiction of Demons working with humans, since Prince Orobas along with King Paimon love sharing knowledge -
Prince Stolas - astrology, knowledge of herbs, plants and precious stones. Again, since he's the 'main character' in *H*B* they could show him teaching humans or those who desire to know more - imps or sinners. Then again....
Marquis Gamigin - teaches all liberal sciences and gives an account of the souls of those who died in sin and drowned in the sea. Stays with the conjurer until they are satisfied.
There are also tortured demons, who still wish to return to heaven - Phenex for example - also a pacifist demon, who got casted out of heaven due to not picking a side (no, not Belphegor who was just lazy). All of this could be written as a tragedy, a criticism of God and Christianity, that not all Demons are evil, how Satanists (not in horror movies) and others worship someone else other than God.
(TLDR, I still don't understand why they want to redeem sinners when heaven was shown to be worse than hell.)

Some of you aren’t ready to admit that in modern day, Andrew Graves would most definitely be that “complicated” guy in the corner, hitting a vape all the fuckin time, acting like he’s a tortured poet, and it shows.

I know I’m probably being obnoxious metaposting about Dimitri again but I’m going to anyway,,,
I think a lot about his time living on the streets and dealing with psychosis because, it’s Relatable and all, but
Mostly I think about how important it is when coping with psychosis to have a routine, and stability—and conversely how scary it is to not have those things. To not have a safe environment and to not have basic human needs met, means that it’s impossible to deal with severe mental illness, and Dimitri spends five years like this.
It’s no surprise that he hasn’t found a way to cope at all during that time, when he is on the run for his life and thinks everyone has either betrayed him or died. He’s living like a shell of a person because he isn’t able to take care of himself at all—and this leads to an element of The Scene With Byleth that stands out to me.
Of course I’m all for the “touch starved Dimitri” reading of that scene, but it’s also important to remember how grounding it can be in the midst of a mental health crisis to hold hands with someone. Dimitri, who has been unable to experience safety or stability in five years, is sure to immediately pick up on that grounding feeling when Byleth touches him. And it’s sure to tether him to reality just a little bit, when he needs it most, too.
Idk, I just think about Dimitri so much, his struggles and how deeply sad and scared and confused he must have been after dealing with psychosis alone for so many years

I'm really disturbed by the fact that I'm seeing people post S2ep8 of IWTV still talking about Lestat as an abuser and Louis as a victim, period end of conversation.
Because I feel like we are explicitly told in ep7 and 8 that that is not the case but some people haven't adjusted their thoughts yet.
Now this is a show explicitly about the unreliability of personal accounts and what we see on screen is often proven not to be how things happen. So, obviously things are always up for debate. But.
We are shown the extended scene of what happened before Lestat flew Louis up into the sky to drop him. In S1 we saw that scene from Claudia's perspective, and she just heard crashing and shouting, and then saw Louis thrown through a wall by Lestat before the whole flight thing.
Ep 7 we are shown Lestat's version of events which are Louis physically and verbally attacking him over and over, slamming Lestat into things, while Lestat begs him to stop, warning him that he will fight back and he's afraid of hurting Louis, and Louis merely eggs him on. Then we get Lestat turning the tables and throwing Louis through a wall.
Now, obviously this is Lestat's version and probably a bit biased to be sympathetic to him. But Louis admits Lestat's version of Claudia's turning is the more correct one than his account and he admits to portraying Lestat intentionally as a villain in the interview, so...well I think the show is telling us that our impression from S1 is at least not the whole story.
Ep 8 underlines this with the scene with Louis and Lestat when Louis apologizes for the way he acted to Lestat in the past, saying "I tried to make nights awful with you. I wanted you to suffer."
We also see him throw Armand into the wall in this episode, which I get people feel Armand deserved, but I feel like the conversation around that has been weird as well. Like, people talk about that being a sign that Louis is stronger than Armand, as if physical violence is impossible from someone who is weaker than their victim. But this is also another instance of Louis using physical violence against his partner when (justifiably) angry.
Look, abusive relationships are complicated. Mutually toxic ones even more so. Reactive abuse is a thing, when an initial victim becomes violent or abusive in response to abuse they've received. It's complicated, and I speak from personal experience.
But I very much feel like the show is SCREAMING at the audience that things are not simple and that no one in this scenario is blameless, ESPECIALLY not Louis. He's not blameless in the case of Claudia. He's not blameless in the destruction of his relationship with Lestat. He's not blameless in his relationship with Armand, for all it's built on a lie, because he entered it to fucking make Lestat mad for god's sake and that's a terrible foundation for a relationship.
Raglan James says Louis is the one to really be afraid of. Louis at the end of the season with his "I own the night" speech. Much of the second half of S2 is ABOUT this.
The entire heartbreaking scene with Lestat at the end is Louis owning his part of the responsibility, and that's huge. Lestat accepted his responsibility and apologized on stage in Paris, and now Louis is as well.
So yeah, I think some people need to rethink their attitudes when they call Lestat Louis's abuser and Louis a battered wife. I read that and I go wait, we're not gonna interrogate that at all?
I of course feel at this point I have to put in a bunch of disclaimers about how this is not an anti-Louis post or trying to excuse the violence done by Lestat, blah blah but honestly some people who can only see things in terms of Good and Evil and Guilty and Innocent are never going to appreciate that kind of thing anyway. I just don't know why those people are watching this show, which is entirely about nuance and complicated interpersonal relations that are messy and resist easy analysis, BY DESIGN.
