Hey Sab! I saw your tags talking about how you'd be open to having a conversation about your stance on aging up minor characters, rather receiving blatant hate. Can you explain why you think it's okay then? I'll be honest with you, I'm of the stance that it's wrong. But if you're open to having a discussion, I'd like to hear what you have to say about it, and where you're coming from.

hi friend, first I want to thank you for your very respectful ask — and for feeling comfortable enough to come and ask me about it! I completely respect your opinion and it’s valid— I’ll explain a little what my perspective is on this is—but first:

For others: this is not an invitation for people to come into my inbox and attack me, this is not me opening people up to tagging me in negative posts or messaging me bullshit—if you don’t agree with me, totally fine! if you don’t want to see my posts, just block me. You can have your opinion without feeling as if it’s an attack on you — just as I don’t view yours as an attack on me.

anyway back to the point:

for myself, writing is very little about writing from my perspective, usually it’s about taking an idea and spinning it into a story. the way I write my fics is honestly not much different than I write my own books — except the main character (in this case, reader) is not described much and has a more flexible personality / background. i never self insert myself into stories and even reading fanfiction, it’s more for the story than anything else. just to give some context for my writing process.

I personally would never write a fic about a character is underage engaging in adult acts in fanfiction, that’s just my personal preference. I enjoy writing characters who are older — usually college age and up. I don’t really enjoy writing romance that involves high school or younger, because media is saturated with that (re: every teenage romance show in existence — riverdale, teen wolf, etc). but this is about taking a character (who in this present day would be of age) and placing them in a setting where they would be of age, with other characters who are of age and, in my fic’s case, the exact same age.

I don’t see a problem with taking a character and imagining what they are like older — they are fictional, they do not exist, they do not have rights, they don’t even have a consciousness in any way— and placing them in an environment where they are older and do things that older people do. I see no difference in this and than an author doing a timeskip and showing what the characters are like when they are older. I assume wouldn’t have a problem with this if we ever get designs or a timeskip in JJK, like how the haikyuu fandom did. There’s also a difference between that in RPF, which I’m not a fan of, and aging up real people who are minors — that’s a whole different story since those people actually exist. I understand people’s outrage and want to protect minors from these depictions of them — but I don’t understand why in the case of fictional characters where they don’t exist in a vacuum, AUs exist where people literally make them into eternal beings, monsters, royalty, etc — why it’s a problem to put them in a universe where they are of age and have grown up and get to live normal lives as adults, including engaging in adult acts. Because we see this all the time done in media and also we see minors depicted to engage in adult acts in media today — in books, TV, movies, etc. while I’m not okay writing fiction (fics or not) about that, we cannot lie and say it doesnt happen every day.

now this also leads into censorship in literature and media, which is a major issue all over the world, including the USA (where I live). obviously some things in literature are NEVER okay in real life — but if we start censoring certain things because they aren’t okay in real life, what will come next? we can’t show murder because it’s not okay irl? we can’t show assault because it’s not okay irl? some of these things yes, shouldn’t be depicted gratuitously in fiction, for no reason, but at the same time, once we start drawing this line, it becomes a slippery slope. soon, we can’t show violence at all in fiction — which sometimes it’s necessary for the story you’re telling. for some others, depicting these acts in fiction is a safe way for them to process their trauma — dark romance fiction in general has seen a rise, especially on TikTok, and I think we all have read or seen things that characters have done in a tv show or book or fic where we’re like maybe that’s hot in that fictional setting, but if someone real said that to me, I’m calling the police (see the trend on TikTok of people quoting fictional men saying ridiculous things that have people kicking their feet but in real life would have you putting them in jail). but fiction is a safe way to explore these things without any danger. and that’s okay!

also censorship is used as a dangerous tool to make people ignorant and it’s easy to draw a line where violence shouldn’t be depicted to ‘let’s ban these books because they depict violence but also other things we don’t want people learning about’ — like the book ban that plagues the USA — from books about genocide, slavery, etc.

I think fiction should be a place to explore ideas, even ones that are uncomfortable. And that doesn’t mean I’m saying that means its okay for pedophiles to write creepy things about underage girls. I think we can all agree that’s not okay and that’s a straw man’s argument at best because we’re not talking about that. We’re talking about aging up a fictional character and placing them in an environment with other like aged characters.

Are we going to stop people from writing murderers in fics / literature because we’re afraid it will cause them to murder? We have to be able to distinguish between what is reality and fiction — just because I watched a show about a fictional killer, doesn’t mean I’m going to go murder people. If other people can’t, then they shouldn’t be reading fiction and should be seeking professional help.

For the context of my yuji fic that’s been catching a lot of heat because of this, it’s a childhood best friends to lovers fic. it’s a reader who grew up with yuji, came to college and ends up in a friends with benefits with him, only for her to fall for him. The actual act of sex is just used as a plot device — the point of the story is them falling in love, and reader seeing yuji in a different light. People who are in college have sex (for the most part) it’s a part of adult life and growing up (again for the most part).

overall, we’ve all seen this discourse time and time again — and it’s just a matter of preference at this point. this is why people have tags and warnings — if you don’t like it, just block the person or don’t read it. it’s as simple as that. people are never going to agree on this issue. and everyone is entitled to their own opinion as long as it’s not hurting anyone or themselves. and if all of this sticks to the fictional world, I don’t see a problem

regarding the whole jjk& gege hatespread movement going on rn, i think this is the perfect illustration of what happened when """trendhoppers""" (i really do not like that term) get into a popular manga because of the characters (fangirls) or the powerscale (..reddit anime bros?😭). and like, to some extent, that's fine!! fangirls are and will always be a big part of fandoms and are a big part of what keeps the community alive. i think the problem lays on the fact that jjk got a wide audience who is used to very binary good guys/bad guys representation in anime with same schemes repeated all over and never questioned their grounding bases. and some really don't like to be confronted to new characters paths or visions (especially if they do not accord to their own).

also the fact that people tend to move to the next shiny thing when the hype is over usually leaves the fandom with people who are actually interested in the story, whereas jjk never left the big screens. so i feel like a lot of the people who take a lot of place in this discourse are only there because they want to argue about who bodies who and "x could wipe the floor with y" and "x is so me guys" etc. they completely disregard the story and it's building, which is (besides interesting (and it is always good to remind it)) the WORK of SOMEONE who puts his time and effort into it.

most people treat work as content (which is bad)(coughcapitalismcough) and get angry when it's not presented in the way they want it to be☹️

And do you know what's the worst thing I've ever seen? Someone who said that Satoru couldn't die because the consumer (us, the readers) is always right ☠️ That take is so fucking disgusting, I don't even know where to begin to express the disgust I feel. There are people in the fandom who don't understand anything, they are the typical self-centered people who believe it's okay to throw trash on the school floor because there are hired cleaners. They are disgusting, I don't regret saying it.

The good thing about these chapters is that it's being shown who in the fandom are good people and who are narcissistic and ethnocentric wrecks who believe they have the power to decide on the author of the work. I've spent the last few months mass blocking these guys, ugh, I can't stand them. Worst of all, they live in their own delulu world where a sad ending (or//insert any ending they don't like) is not allowed. They really think jjk should have an ending where Sukuna is defeated and that is, again, self-centered. They say that, otherwise, everything would have been for nothing. Hmm? Since when does letting evil win undo an entire story? They are unable to value jjk for its history. They are doing the same thing that the jujutsu world did with Satoru, they are dehumanizing everything and they are so self-centered they don't even realize it.

People are literally dehumanizing both the author and the characters themselves, forcing their own vision of the narrative at the expense of whatever. Also, I've noticed that many of these profiles just spew hate, literally. That's their whole personality. You see a review in your dash, you enter the profile and surprise! that person hates everything they consume, they don't have a single good word in absolutely any chapter, they hate the author and claim that “Gege doesn't know his own characters” (as if characters aren't allowed to change and evolve in their views, ideology, etc, lmao)

These people are the worst, they spread super negative vibes. They seem very immature to me, because, if you don't like something, why would you continue consuming it? That's straight toxic, and I don't think they have a proper mental health if they're like this with the rest of things happening in their lives. They like to hate and they live off it, that is the only answer.

On the other hand, they are forcing “Gege has a bad narrative” to cover up the fact they are incapable of leaving the fandom and seeing the characters as characters and not their puppets, they force their fanon vision on them and then cry when they discover that they aren't like they expected. Shoko is an example of this. She was always certainly cold, but the fandom always painted her as Satoru's super hyper bestie, as a victim of Satoru's “selfisness” after the kfc breakup (god forbid a teenager grieving) and forced on her that she's a very good person when in reality she is still a doctor who passed her exams by cheating and who showed no empathy in lots of situations, when seeing, for example, Yuuji's corpse.

People also complain that the final fight is taking too long, lol, fights in shonen are like that, that's the point of the genre, babe, jjk is literally sold and promoted as a fight shonen. I honestly think that those who say that are people with a tiktok span of attention. (they would complain if the fight lasted for ten chapters too) Also, what a coincidence gege's narrative dropped when they started waiting weekly for a chapter, huh? What a coincidence they started disliking jjk when they started waiting, also all characters now seemed to be bad written after they started waiting another coincidence! Fast consuming has RUINED people's perception of media.

The moral of this is: enjoy what you consume, be mature about your consuming choices and have a good relationship with the things you like. Stay away from the negativity! And, most importantly, don't treat the author as your slave.

By the way, ik people have a twitter mentality so i'll say this for those. I'm not saying people can't have their own opinions, don't force that narrative on me lol It's the way you express your views that categorizes wether you're a normal person or an asshole. For example, I would have loved Yūta to stay out of this and leave Sukuna to Yuuji, since it was his time to shine! I think Yuuji deserves to have the spotlight and end everything (or try to), carry the final fight and all that. But I won't complain about it, nor drop the manga, because I'm not an inmature self-centered fifteen year old :)

Ok soI've been wanting to talk about the current discourse and shit that's been going on in the amazing digital circus fandom and how well- it's pathetic lmaoOk so let me start with just talking about the haters and the stans. Les do it.

So ofc we all know there has been a serge of haters for TADC, and it's funny because there reasons behind hating TADC is either from fandom bait, made up entirely, or just because it's popular. It also seems anytime a indie project is popular it gets a lot of hate which I find incredibly stupid like. If your gonna hate on the indie stuff, please, go hate on corporate stuff. Go on. Like of course, there are problems with TADC, that happens with literally every indie project! Also the hate for it is insane. Like it's often being compared to Hazbin hotel/helluva boss- which I find really unfair because they are two very different medias. One is meant for adult, and the other seems more aimed towards tweens and teens (and maybe young/new adults) Like one of the reasons people have been hating on tadc is because of the reason Jax is a asshole like- oh golly I'm sorry people like Jax actually exist in the real world lmao. Also the hate for Jax also comes from ppl claiming he is sexyman bait even though Caine is RIGHT THERE IN ALL HIS AI GLORY LMAO. guys Jax is twink bait get it right/j

Now lemme touch on the stans, who are attacking anyone who doesn't like tadc like- mate. Not everyone is like you- like myself, I had a bit of a hard time watching TADC because I'm sensitive to random colors, but that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy it (I watched the OG one with my phone far from my eyes and the lowest brightness it could go, and all the rewatches where edited version that made the colors less bright) The thing is, everyone has a opinion. Some just might not have enjoyed it, and that's fine! Don't attack them for it. It also doesn't help that a lot of stans are mixing up good criticism with hate. Like example, I personally don't like Jax's design. It feels too simple compared to everyone else, but that doesn't mean I hate him or the show as a whole I just- UGH

Can I just say as a lesbian with a lesbian Durge - when it comes to Gortash I imagine that she and him were absolutely inseparable besties. if and when connor mcdavid ever wins the cup, i hope it's when he's an aging star with way less impact who has already all but given up (ok he's never gonna give up but at some point in ur mid 30s, u HAVE to be like.. damn maybe it wont happen for me) and it almost feels like a fluke when he does it but. that would satisfy me personally so much more lmfao.

Chiming in with the letter discourse! I think the reason Harry found it amongst school books and bike manuals is because Snape stashed it there when he searched the room. Sirius might have kept it somewhere else entirely!

As for how it got to GP in the first place. My hc is either his belongings were sent to his mother (and she couldn’t bring herself to throw them away) or either Dumbledore/Lupin/Kingsley cleared out his old flat and brought him his things while he was in hiding. (He implies that Dumbledore’s been helping with that vein of stuff in GoF)

Honestly i didn't get sent a lot of asks on that stuff and I kinda stopped posting about the werewolf audiobooks for a while because I just, like, a lot of them follow the exact same formulas and I wasn't sure if I was boring anyone by sharing the drama (and also those stories cost money and I realized that I eas spending, decent amounts of money buying chapter unlock coins)

I have some asks about the whole Emperor baku/concubine izuku/Empress reader stuff and that still sounds so juicy. I dunno if you guys remember but I was getting HELLA into Chinese dramas a while back which combined with manhwa were the inspiration for that baku/reader concept and I still have one I need to finish called Legend of Yangxi Palace and there I'd also Legend of Hao Lan which looks good and has the same actress as the lead. Some of those dramas are kind of cut and paste but when you find a production house wirh a budget, jesus christ. I literally watched Legend of RuYi with my mom and the ending made us WEEP.

-Koko's mom is a straight up selfish bitch who was in love with the Alpha of the pack and they turned out not to be chosen mates, and her true mate was, shit i don't remember his name but, Koko's dad. He wasn't wealthy and lived a humble life but was the packs Gamma (if you don't remember that's the wolf who's in charge of helping look after the alphas mate, the Luna)

-this isn't good enough for Bitch Mom and she tries to reject him but he refuses bc he wants to get to know her as his fated mate and she throws a tantrum over this

-one night she gets piss drunk and comes onto him basically out of loneliness, he literally tells her no multiple times because of how drunk she is but she keeps pushing because she feels rejected by the Alpha who is now with someone else and she wants someone to want her, and there's the mate bond and all so, daddy Koko caves

-bitch has the nerve to wake up "UGH you took advantage of me, I hate this, I hate you"

-she gets pregnant from that one time and her family basically forces her to marry the dad who I just remembered is named Mac. Mac Magnus? That name fucking sucks lmao

-Mac is actually such a good guy she does fall in love and she gives birth to twins. Absolutely LOVES the first one that comes out, her name is spelled either Janola or Hanola, the captions suck and I've literally never heard of this name before. But Hanola is a perfect clone of her mom

-unfortunately Koko was an extremely difficult birth, where Hanola was easy Koko took like 10 hours and hurt a lot, and she came out more resembling her father but, Koko also has, um. Dark eyes? It is a plotpoint of her irises "being so dark it's like looking into pure black orbs" and there are old folktales about these wolves being cursed. Um. How do I politely say "I guess Asian people don't exist in this world" because like people are literally looking at her eyes and gasp and they all avoid her like the plague like. Bro it's an eye color?

-its. It's basically kind of lowkey colorism/racism. Hanola is blonde hair blue eyed but poor Koko has dark hair and dark eyes and isn't as pale and her mom HATES HER IMMEDIATELY, like STRAIGHT OUT THE WOMB HATRED

-Mac always loves and supports Koko and chastises his wife for mistreating their daughter but uh he also like. Never fucking puts his foot down either so Koko was bullied even when he wad alive

-bitch ass Hanola, who Koko says has been around the block a few times, steals her mate just to fucking spite her, and her mom LOVES IT because, shit you not, she's still so like fucking, weird about the Alpha who never wanted her that she's like "YES now my daughter will marry his son in my place" like GIRL the projection!!! you had a loving husband who you never even deserved and he should've beat your ass for how you treated his daughter

-I like, only vaguely remember certain details because this happened so long ago but, uh, Koko's mate rejects her, takes her sister, and they even spread lies about Koko and like my blood was fucking boiling. Her mate Alpha orders her, as in she physically cannot resist, to watch them have sex, and THEN the SPITEFUL FREAKS go around the pack saying "that ugly slut koko tried to claim the Alpha as hers when he wasn't and she was even caught peeping on them having sex, what a freak and a pervert"

-by the way they just constantly insult her no matter what she does, calls her ugly despite her being an identical twin to Hanola besides hair and eye color, calls her useless, calls her fat even though she's literally malnourished

-all of a sudden, Hanola turns out to have a very weak heart that she was concealing, and she needs a transplant within two weeks or she will die. I personally believe Hanola did this on purpose, because

-KOKO'S MOM AND THE PACK DOCTORS DEADASS ASK KOKO FOR HER FUCKING HEART BECAUSE, "well waiting for a transplant might take too long"

-they bully the fuck out of Koko until she agrees and they STILL TREAT HER LIKE GARBAGE. Koko is over here "if I'm so worthless and a mistake and killed my father, at least I can save my sister"

-THEY NEVER EVEN LET HER SEE HWR SISTER. THEY TELL HER SHE HAS GERMS AND WILL MAKE HER SICK. she never literally never gets to speak with her sister before she's supposed to die for her. They will not even let her do that and even accuse her of wanting to see Hanola to harm her even though Koko is still attached to her because they were close as children

-Koko is treated extremely well for two weeks, finally actually being fed and treated kindly because oh say stress might damage the heart Hanola is supposed to get

-this. This part is absolutely fucking crazy. It's literally the day of the fucking transplant and they say "nah koko fuck you, you can't even ride in the same car with us to the hospital where you're going to die, here's some money, get your own ride" like jesus christ cannot emphasize enough that they literally singlehandedly caused what is about to happen over sheer pettiness like how the fuck would you take excellent care of that donor heart and then not even help transport it safely to the hospital, like at least for Hanola's sake you think they would have

-Koko accidentally goes to the wrong hospital, and she's rushing around begging for money for a cab, desperate to, again, die for her sister

-SHE GETS HIT BY A FUCKING CAR

-She's passed out in the hospital for, unfortunately, 3 weeks. She rushes back to the pack and everyone accuses her of murder because her sister died. They literally surround her while her mother beats the absolute shit out of her saying she was a mistake and she wishes she had died in the fire instead of her father like her mom is literally dragging her around by her hair

-they don't even believe or listen to her and they reveal a shocking truth: before Hanola died, her last wish was for KOKO TO SUFFER TO DEATH in a real specific way

-in a lot of these stories, when a werewolf doesn't have a pack, they turn rogue, it changes their scent and everything, and it can make them go completely feral. Something something "our wolves belong in packs and we lose ourselves without them". Hanola's dying wish was literally for her sister to be cast out and turned rogue so she would literally slowly suffer insanity and die

-she's in the woods, as an outcast, and they're literally following her around making sure she doesn't reach another pack, they literally beat her and chase her off when she tries to get help from other people

-she gets away somehow, I don't remember how, I think the moon goddess literally teleports her to where her new mate is supposed to be and she winds up in a town where everyone immediately treats her like garbage just because of her eyes

-cue meeting her mate, the beta of the pack she's in, and he instantly rejects her as well because he instantly recognizes her as "koko magnus, the black eyed curse girl who killed her father"

-finally, she gets a new mate, Alpha Nile, who's last mate Erika unfortunately killed herself because she couldn't conceive an heir and the entire pack shunned her and treated her like absolute trash including Niles' mother who deliberately started rumors about her and eventually caused her suicide

-Nile uh, ok his full name is literally Nile Heaven and he actually met Koko as a child and didn't tell her his name, he only called himself "Alpha from Heaven" and comforted her when she was crying and said she wasn't ugly or cursed, just unique, and she would find someone someday (and it turned out to be him lol)

-but like literally everyone continues to call her a black eyed curse and she eventually has to win their respect but like she gets kidnapped by someone who's pining after Niles and is horrifically tortured and beaten and all of that and by the way Koko realizes just before the kidnapping, before she can tell Nile, that she's pregnant

-Koko was one of those "my wolf appeared super late or was originally super weak but I'm actually supernaturally powerful" and tbh I can't remember much of the plot from here but, it gets a happy ending, Nile's mother is forced to accept she was wrong and regret her actions after both Nile and his sister shun her and remove her form her position as Queen Mother and she even helps rescue Koko

-as one final kick in the teeth, this is one of those stories where the POV doesn't just go from ML to FL, it also bounces to side characters, and guess who we get to see again? Koko's BITCH MOM

-bitch mom deadass admits in her head she still hates Koko and thinks she's useless, but maybe the little doormat can be of use to her now that she's the mate of Alpha King Nile

-honestly it was deadass so infuriating, Koko apparently never went into extreme detail on how her mom participated in all of her abuse so like, guess what. Bitch mom shows up, "oh koko my lovely daughter I've missed you so much" and Koko is just like "who the fuck is this? Guards, take her away" and. Fucking. Nile and his fucking sister are just like "OH GOODNESS this ISNT YOU KOKO 🥺 you told US to accept OUR mom, you can't turn her away, she's YOUR MOTHER" like deadass I think have broken up with Nile over this. He straight up invites her mom to stay with them in the castle and the dumb bitch gets the highest quality amenities and treated super special

And yeah the story ends with Koko and Nile having a newborn baby girl who they name Aurora and they live happily ever after and like, it was a well written story, just like. So many fucking chapters man, and when you have to pay to unlock, it really does add up

Also it was really sad when Sophie (the sister) miscarried because she was diagnosed with SEVERE endometriosis which my mom has actually, doctors told her I technically shouldn't have been able to be born, I was like her miracle baby, so it like. With the P3 remake being a smash success it feels pretty certain that we'll see a remake of P4 within the next 5 years so I'm just going to lay down my #thoughts about the burning discourse for a 16 year old game before it spins up again with the release of this theoretical P4 remake. Just to get it out of my system.

I totally get being tired of the whole ordeal because like, yeah I barely like to talk about it myself too lmao. But I hate how people leap to "UGH these idiots probably think naoto is supposed to be trans, or that kanji is gay. They don't understand the game. They're media illiterate." like ok to be fair i'm an outsider to all this; i am not and never have been active in cpunk or -adjacent spaces. and i definitely feel like i have not seen the epicenter of this whole drama, since like. in browsing random disability blogs i have in the last week encountered multiple people whose posts for months have been 90% complaining about This Shit, and yet i have not encountered very much of the Shit in question at all?

like. i've seen a whole bunch of posts that go something like, "i can't believe abled NDs* have the gall to call us ableist bullies just for saying that chronic illness and autism are different experiences!", or like, "no matter how clear i make it that i'm talking about physical disability, all my posts end up with a billion notes tagged 'adhd' or 'depression' or whatever. why they gotta make everything about them! let us keep something to ourselves for once!", &/or c. usually in that order. but like... without the obvious middle stage where they argue on their blogs with actual objectors to this "let this be just for us" plea. so like maybe they've deleted most of those posts, or maybe the central example is on some cpunk bnf's blog which i just haven't happened to click on yet. idk. but my point is

that from my outsider's perspective it feels like a huge and sudden escalation? to have gone from "ugh not every post has to be about you; read the actual words i wrote, don't just pretend they said something else that you like better!" to, like, "in case you needed more proof that all abled NDs are ableist scum" rallying-the-troops type posts

so like, i'm guessing that's what's gone on here? like like like, backing up a bit: i sympathize with and frequently feel for myself these people's rancor about mental illness (and, though to a much lesser extent, autism and adhd) being the public face of disability. and particularly the thing where like--

ten or fifteen years ago, when i first encountered awareness-raising activism about mental illness, a lot of it took the form of "you wouldn't download a car"-type comparisons with injury, illness, and/or central examples of physical disability. as in, like, rebuffing "your [mental illness accommodation] is just a crutch!" with "imagine telling someone on actual crutches that they shouldn't rely on a crutch" &c.

when what their intuition told them was about physical vs. mental or visible vs. invisible illness was really more about acute vs. chronic illness.**

and like a. this mistake is very annoying, since it leads to a lot of mentally ill/invisibly ill people assuming incorrectly that physically disabled/visibly ill people don't get doubted and belittled the same way they do, when uhhhh guess again.

but also b. it means that while from my perspective it seems super mega obvious that mental illness is the public face of disability in 2023, many people who care a whole lot about activist efforts on behalf of mental illness but who don't know much about other kinds of disability activism still, erroneously, inexplicably think that the reason they don't see as many campaigns like this for other kinds of disability is because physically disabled people are seen/accepted already and don't need to fight for that the way mentally ill people did/still do.

...this is such a tiny example but i'm bitter about it so: the other day on my university campus i saw a fundraising booth about support for mental illness. you can't log in to our canvas page without seeing a mental health hotline pop up in the corner. nearly every professor i've had here has at some point gone on a tangent about how important it is to support mental health. many times we've had little impromptu class discussions about the unique struggles faced by people with (always this phrase) "invisible illnesses like depression." my school is really really loud about how much it cares about student mental health.*** and i don't think any of these people know that when i encounter these pronouncements i feel like my own experience has been overlooked

so yes, ok? it pisses me off also when mentally ill/neurodivergent awareness-raisers, activists, and people generally think it's like. an underdog move. punching up, if you will. to reblog posts about chronic pain/other phsyical disability and add "this can apply to mental illness, too!" as if that's a mindblowing revelation to us stuckup, old-guard invalids when like. y-yeah, we know that mental illness also sucks. many of us (raises hand) experience it ourselves, and even if we haven't? we too have seen the internet. the mental illness experience is way more legible to the general public than ours is, so it's really fuckin annoying when people co-opt descriptions of our experience to be about theirs.

but like. the fact you (a physically disabled blogger) have now had this conversation with your (also physically disabled and blogging) friends doesn't mean you get to treat people who weren't in on that conversation like hopeless reactionaries??? this is like me in 2012 seeing the term "friend zone" as a red flag no matter who flew it, even though 2011 me had used that term nonjudgmentally and had no inkling of its entitled/sexist undertones.

like i can remember the exhaustion of communicating with waves of internet strangers who can't be bothered to backread your blog a few pages before commenting on some viral post but. th-that is the thing that's occurring here?? multiple waves of people who, each, individually, see something that without context looks inflammatory. not one wave of pigheads who refuse to listen.
