I think that Jax pushes the cast so hard the way he does is because it's not only entertaining but it also shows him how they actually feel. Like let me explain.

Ragatha is super nice. Like ridiculously so, so much so that sometimes she can come off as insincere. Gangle literally hides behind a happy mask, Zooble keeps everyone at an arm's length. Kinger is so lost in trying to stay sane that he's in his own little world. They all have a facade of sorts. And they're pretty good at keeping them up.

At least till Jax gets involved.

When Jax does his bullshit, it's like a switch is flipped. Those facades they wear come clean off. At least for most of them. Ragatha shows actual frustration and anger, Gangle feels sadness instead of her happy mask. Zooble's indifferent attitude is thrown out the window. And Kinger sometimes pipes in from time to time. I find it fascinating that Jax, for all his asshat shenanigans is the one out of all of them that unintentionally gives the others a reason to not be somewhat fake. Instead they're more real.

I think that's also the reason why Jax hasn't messed with Pomni so much. Because as far as he's seen, Pomni is surprisingly blunt and open about her thoughts and feelings on things. Unlike the others who try and pretend somewhat that they're fine, Pomni just does the opposite. In a way Pomni is something unknown, and Jax has no real clue how to approach it in his normal way.

At least that's what I'm thinking.
