Author’s Note

Before reading, I want to clarify that these headcanons take place under the premise that Caine never zapped Gummigoo out of the circus. Instead, Caine allowed him to stay and travel between the circus and Candy Canyon Kingdom. Would that ever happen? No, but I had more ideas with this concept than with him simply being an NPC. It’s an unusual change, but one I think makes these more enjoyable.

℧ Gummigoo has a way with words, spinning stories about his old life with a wistful smile. He describes the village like a dream—hazy but warm, with the scent of sugarcane and the sound of laughter. He swears he can almost remember his mum’s voice, and you’re the only one he trusts enough to confide in when those memories start slipping through his fingers.

℧ Being a gummy croc, Gummigoo is always snacking on something sweet, whether it’s licorice ropes, candied fruit, or just raw sugar packets. If you bring him treats, he’ll act nonchalant, but his tail starts wagging like an excited puppy. He claims he can “quit anytime,” but the way he hoards sweets in his hat says otherwise.

℧ Ever since he fell out of bounds, Gummigoo has a quiet fear of it happening again. Sometimes he’ll freeze if he sees a glitch in the scenery or if the ground looks too smooth, like it might not be solid. You’re the one who helps pull him out of those moments, grounding him with a squeeze of his hand and a promise that he’s still here.

℧ Gummigoo tries to act like a hardened outlaw, but he’s a complete sucker for affection. He stiffens up when you hug him but never pulls away—just mutters something about “not goin’ soft” while his tail curls around your ankle like he doesn’t want to let go.

℧ Jax teases Gummigoo relentlessly, calling him “Crocodile Dundee” and making jokes about his NPC status. But the second Jax starts teasing you, Gummigoo goes from easygoing to dead serious. He doesn’t start fights, but he finishes them. And the way he glares when Jax so much as grins your way? Yeah, that’s personal.

℧ He jokingly calls you his “partner in crime,” but he means it. You’re the one person he trusts to watch his back, whether it’s on a job, during a heist, or just trying to navigate life in the Digital Circus. If anyone gives you trouble, his hat dips low, his grin sharpens, and suddenly, he’s a lot more intimidating.

℧ Some nights, Gummigoo struggles with his existence, questioning if he’s even real. On those nights, you stay close, reminding him that even if his past was fake, this—the way his hand fits in yours, the way his laughter sounds in the empty halls—this is real. And you’ll prove it to him as many times as it takes.

℧ He constantly fidgets with his hat—tilting it, spinning it, occasionally using it to block out the world. If he ever sets it on your head, it’s an unspoken sign of trust. Max and Chad tease him about it, but he just grumbles, “It looks better on ‘em, anyway.”
