Hello. Just came here to say that Dennis doesn't find Mac annoying.

S15e8 when Mac stops helping the gang carrying the body, dennis realizes that Mac was carrying almost all of the weight and frank says "he can add it to the list of his annoying identities", dennis admits it BUT :

He doesn't find Mac annoying, he just finds his "growth" and "becoming a better man" annoying because it makes mac more "appealing". It makes Mac something that others would look and want (normal people) and we know how Dennis is, he has a hard time with letting go of things he likes ( the fraggle rock mug for example)

Dennis is not used to finding mac "appealing". Something so close that he can't touch and have. Mac is becoming more appealing and for once he's not doing it SOLELY for Dennis.

Mac admitting he is "gay" just makes Mac more out of reach for Dennis because Dennis is so focused on being "straight" that he can't be what he wants with Mac. He has Mac but not in the way he wants to.

Also, mac being gay makes it harder for dennis to control him because Mac is becoming more and more obsessed about making his OWN choices, becoming who HE is etc.

I was really anxious about the whole mac having a boyfriend subject but I just realized it will make macdennis' state even more clear and we'll get to see what Dennis wants from a man.

“Stars are real bright tonight.” Phoenix whispered, neck craned to observe the sky. The hood of their shared car creaked underneath him as he shifted, moving closer to Edgeworth. 

“Can’t say that I disagree. It is rather beautiful,” He replied swiftly, without a moment’s hesitation. It was a Thursday night, mere hours after a long and tiring case. Trials were a sort of game to them now; defense, prosecution, defense, prosecution. Back and forth, objection for objection. Date nights often fell on these days, due to unexpected extensions in court. It was coincidental, but it felt like some universal reward.

“Miles, I have a bit of an odd question. Something that’s been bothering me,” Phoenix turned to face him, brows furrowed and heart skipping beats.

“Go on.”

“I just- I guess I’ve been thinking about it a while. It’s not a suggestion, only a thought-” He began to sputter, not looking directly at Miles.

That was when Edgeworth turned to face him. His brows were furrowed slightly, pulled together in a look of concern. He didn’t need to speak for Phoenix to know that this was a sign to continue. 

“Would you ever… consider marrying me some day?” 

It was sudden. Extremely sudden. Miles blinked slowly as Phoenix turned red.

“I didn’t want to pressure you, and I don’t even really need an answer- I guess I was just wondering, is all,” Phoenix opened and closed his eyes rapidly. He laid back, looking straight up at the sky. Miles’ breath caught in his throat as he joined him. Phoenix had almost hoped that Miles wouldn’t answer, and that they’d forget it ever happened. 

“Well, that’s hard to answer. It’s possible.” 

Possible. That wasn’t a no. It was almost as certain as it was uncertain. Impossibilities were met with quick rejection and instantaneous response. This was not met with anything, really. It hit Phoenix with a wave of emotion that he couldn’t describe.

“Possible,” Phoenix smiled while he said it, swallowing down his elation.
