TO S1/E11 Hayley/Elijah thoughts:

Not Hayley betraying Elijah’s trust by divulging everything he had written about Celeste in his journals to Sophie so she could find her remains and complete the harvest. 😒 And then, she has the audacity to ask Elijah if he’s forgiven her yet instead of asking for forgiveness. 🙄

Like, girl, you went through this man’s personal thoughts, sold out one of his secrets to someone you know you shouldn’t trust, and you still think you have the right to ask him if he’s forgiven you? 🤦🏻‍♀️ She needs to be slapped 6 ways to Sunday. 👋

She also has the balls to say that she thought they were just bones. 💀 Who would write about random bones being buried somewhere in their journal and have it not mean something? 🧐

Then she brings it home by saying that she knows what a promise means to him, but obliterates everything about that meaning by stating that he made it 200 years ago, and that he should get over it. 🤯 “Because she lives in the now. If she feels something, she acts. If she wants something, she takes it.” 🙃 This girl really has zero home training. 🫠

And, before anyone starts, this has nothing to do with shipping. It has everything to do with the fact that she is in the wrong and she betrayed the trust of an individual that has helped her time and time again. 🛑 Rant over. 👋

Have you read the vampire diaries books? And if you have what do you feel about the changes they made when making the show?

sadly I won’t be able to answer this very well considering im only on the 5th book in the series and I love it so much haha

I wasn’t a super fan before the show came out and i watched the show before then I read the books so I don’t have much of an opinion on it, im not like “omg why is the town called mystic falls and not fells church?!” but because I watched the show before reading the books im was more like: “omg that’s weird that it’s called fells church and not mystic falls” haha

it was also weird to me when I read the high school name, “Robert E. Lee High School” EHH? it’s not Timberwolves?! 😭

also can we talk about how Meredith wasn’t an actual character in the show??! it’s Elena, Bonnie and Caroline Not Elena, Bonnie and Meredith?! I love her character in the books and it would’ve been so cool to see Meredith in the show too!!

I find the last names weird too:

the writers also changed the fact Stefan and Damon can transform with their vampire powers, like Damon is a crow (but then they got rid of that after the pilot?) and stefans an eagle? or some sort of dog? I can’t remember lol but they took that out? also I was thrown off by Stefans appearance in the books, it’s so different to the show “curly black hair, and deep green eyes, and he was originally born in Italy in the year 1490 but they changed his origin in the show to mystic falls 1846.

elenas angel white power, she should’ve stuck with it in the show but they turned her into a damsel in distress icl 🤷‍♀️

The vampiric and witch power to send thoughts to eachother, like a calling power or something? That would’ve been cool to keep ln the show.

Mrs. flowers (the witch who owns the boarding house in fells church) instead she’s just a bed in breakfast hotel owner in the show, but to be fair I think I like the idea better of the salvatores owning the boarding house.

+ im only on book 5 and Damon and Bonnie have kissed a few times and I think Damon has a soft spot for her so I hope they get together (I heard they do but still, wishful thinking 🤪)

also im hating the malach right now and Shinichi or whatever so im glad that doesn’t happen in the show 😭

+ HEAVY on the anger I feel because they didn’t add Meredith to the show 🤨

Hi so I’m doing the second episode so soon after the first because I watched the pilot yesterday and just finished episode 2. Only just got around to posting it here a little while ago. It won’t always be like this, I want to try to just do one per day at most.

* so if Stefan is over a century old, what are the implications of him being attracted to a high school girl

* The way they’re not afraid to use blood as liberally as they do for a show made for teens on cable tv is fascinating to me

Right, so, I’m not sure how to feel about this episode honesty. It doesn’t really feel like much progress was made in advancing the plot. In fact, they just kind of did more of the same from the pilot. Elena and Stefan do some more of the “will they wont they” dance, Jeremy wanders after Vicki like a wounded dog; Damon attacks some more people, Stefan struggles around blood, the episode ends with another girl getting attacked. I’m also kind of realizing that most of the people in this town are terrible people. Nobody seems to know how to talk to each other like normal people. In reality, it’s probably just CW writing, but it’s making it hard to like a lot of the characters. I’m not really sure who I’m meant to be rooting for aside from Stefan and Elena. This is only the second episode though, so I wont be too harsh and actually give them a chance to get it going.

Okay y’all! Strap in for a long-winded review, that’s mostly me ranting about how much I hate hype!!!  So we all know the hype that surrounded this book around its release. I fell for it!! and all the pretty aesthetically pleasing edits and fanart. ffs I got the book; and the sequel, before I even finished the 1st!! 🥴😩

Anyways, I started this book back in March 2022 and it was going fine. I dropped it for another read around chapter 10/12, cuz it wasn’t gripping me like the girlies said it would. I picked it up again a few weeks later, and read up to chapter 16, then stopped again! That time around, I shelved as restart cuz I felt I wasn’t giving it all the attention it deserves so I can enjoy it fully like all the girlies did!!!  Well, fast-forward to this weekend! I got the audio on Libby and I restarted it. Again, I liked the first few chapters, then got bored outta my mind once I hit the tens chapters! Literally, from chapter 13 to 28, I tried my hardest to actively listen and not to let my inner monologue take over! All I could think about was: “damn! this! this! was marvellous to y’all?” “I’m boooooredddd!!” “how am I gonna explain the 2 star I’ll rate this book?”  Honestly, I’m so disappointed, because I didn’t hate this book (per se), I just feel fooled by the hype! 

Now, onto the actual review! This book had sooo much potential! Unfortunately, the execution fell short! The setting, the characters, the plot, they are all very intriguing and make for a great mystery or a romantic suspense novel. However, this was marketed as a fantasy!! Why??  It offered a good commentary on capitalism and colonialism, but even those parts were neither cohesive, nor coherent, nor did they mesh-in well with the plot!  Honestly, this novel woulda been much better if it was 150 pages shorter and didn’t rattle on and on all throughout the middle chapters. The first few chapters did averagely well setting up the plot and the last few also did averagely well as a closure; but those middle chapters just bored me outta my mind. Where was the editor?? So much of this book was unnecessary!  Another thing I really didn’t like was the reveal in the epilogue! I had hope that maybe the sequel is gonna be different and I’ll actually enjoy it. However, that final reveal makes it very clear that book two is gonna be just like book one. The only difference will be Roma hating (rightfully holding a grudge against) Juliette!  I’m just soooo disappointed! but since I own the sequel I’ll probably be reading it!

I didn't think I'd turn into a TVD girlie back at the end of 2024, but I did.

I also didn't think I'd be admitting that a show adaptation was better than its original book.

I literally couldn't stand anything and THIS was the original source material? What happened?

The show was by no means perfect, but at least it was entertaining. This was just almost 500 pgs (bc it was a double edition) of nothing. Book one was establishing everything, ok cool, but it all was so flat.

Elena is a bottle blond whiny ego driven bitch.

Bonnie isn't Bonnie, she's a dumbass, ditzy, red headed white girl.

Stefan was boring. Damon was well Damon. And Caroline was an over exaggerated personification of a bully.

It was complete obsession insta-love from Elena and it was borderline stalker. Reading her whining and almost like a Mary Sue character as she chased this 'why doesn't he love me' vs. Stefan's 'I can't, but I want to.' was infuriating. And not in the usual romantic pining most love stories tend to do. Twilight definitely took a lot of inspiration from this, but at least Twilight was easy to poke fun at.

Yes, this was originally published in 1991, times and subject matters do change, but my god it was such a drastic change of tone from what I expected.

Overall, not worth it.

Watched and read TGCF, watched and have yet to start the MDZS novel (I did start the series on yt but I'm only on the episode 8, still) and after I finish reading mdzs novels I'm going to read SVSSS but the tags on that one are making me bit reluctant to start bcs it has few tw that I person try to avoid by any means so but still! I was recommended it and I heard lots of nice reviews about it-
