Song Camisole, intro + tutorial | December, 2023
(Text below)
A camisole was the inner most layer of a Song lady’s outfit. Camisoles from the Song dynasty are simply named 宋抹sòng mǒ by modern historians (literal translation: Song camisole). The little camisole discussed in this post is based on the sample excavated from the tomb of Ms. Huang Sheng (full maiden name; she died at 17 in 1243 after being married for one year) in Fuzhou, China, hence it is in late Southern Song style. As far as I know, this is the only surviving sample of Song camisole in this style.
From the excavation report:
The artefact has one seam down the centre front. It has an outer layer and a lining, both in plain silk. It is 55cm long and 39-40cm wide. The shoulder ribbons are 34-35cm long, and the waist ribbons are 35-36cm long. From the report and the photograph which I can access, there doesn’t seem to be any dart. Perhaps Ms. Huang Sheng was flat-chested so a dart was unnecessary; nowadays traditional costume makers and wearers usually like a dart in the middle (usually via shaping on the CF seam) to better fit the bust.
I made this pink one nearly two years ago. You might be able to see a little bit of fabric being taken in on the top of the CF seam, which is the dart/shaping I was talking about.
Below is a tutorial for making one of these. It works for smaller bust sizes – you can add darts on the sides to do a full bust adjustment.
Pattern
You need two measurements:
The front half of your chest circumference (which is NOT the full chest circumference divided by two). If you want, you can add 1~2cm of positive ease to this.
The desired length. It has to be long enough to be tucked into a skirt.
The dart (for me) is usually 1~1.5cm on each side of the CF seam. If your fabric is wide enough, you can just make a dart and eliminate the CF seam. I’m not sure why the shoulder ribbons on the artefact are so short, since the common way of wearing this camisole the ribbons need to be at least 80~90cm. The depth of the armscye apparently depends on your body shape, but it shouldn’t be too low—usually the little side loops are on the same level as the bust point or just a little bit lower. The shape and size of the little triangles depend on your taste.
All figures in the sample below fit a pretty standard European size 36 with a total height of 160cm. (EDIT!! I made a mistake. It should be European size 34 i.e. bust circumference 80)
(Also: how you would arrange the pattern pieces on a traditional kimono bolt, if using kimono silk for this.)
Fabric
You’ll want something drapey and smooth that feels nice on bare skin. I’d always recommend silk, but a cotton/silk blend or a soft cotton also works fine. For synthetic fabrics, some viscose fabrics (or their eco-friendly relatives such as tencel) could work. For the pink one I made, I used repurposed kimono silk. The yellow one is a Chinese jacquard from a blend of silk and viscose.
If you are using redeemed kimono silk (or new kimono silk) with a width of approx. 33cm, one meter is about enough. This is very convenient because one meter is a common length of kimono sleeves and you can find fabrics sold in individual lengths in stores that specialise in this. If you are using a Western fabric, you only need to consider the length of the ribbon and whether you are willing to cut it on the weft. If cutting on the warp, you’ll need one meter. (They don’t need to be cut on bias though you can.)
You also need a lining fabric for the main body. I usually use a half-half cotton/silk blend about 12momme thin (I buy it in bulk because I use it for a lot of things.)
Sewing
First, sew the ribbons.
I starched the yellow fabric for the ribbon part because it was just so slippery and refused be folded. After I starched it, I was able to fold it right side out and sew with an invisible stitch. However, I would recommend starching as little as possible and making your starch as diluted as possible, because starch can be SUPER hard to wash out and leave your silk stiff.
Sew the CF and the dart, if any, respectively for the lining and for the shell.
Sew the little triangles. If you cut your triangles on grain, the hypotenuse edge is likely on bias, which means it is likely to be stretched out, leading to a gaping neckline (which is a pet peeve of mine). There are two ways to prevent this. A) Since you have a lining and a shell, you can cut the lining with its hypotenuse edge on grain, so that each of the three edges of the triangle is stabilised by one layer of fabric, which is what I did for the pink camisole. B) You can add a tape to the seam allowance, which is what I’m showing in the yellow camisole. I used a thin silk ribbon (usually used for silk ribbon embroidery) and pinned it to the seam allowance, making sure not to stretch the seam so that it’s at the right length. You can sew it down to both layers of the allowance or just one.
After stablising the hypotenuse edge, you can sew the triangle by placing the fabrics right side together and sandwich the shoulder ribbon in-between. The bottom edge needn’t be sewn. Turn it right side out when you finish.
I also add tapes to the underarm edges, which are also on bias.
Place the body layers right side together, sandwiching the triangles, loops and waist ribbons between them (baste in place if needed). Sew all around, leaving only a small opening on the bottom edge so that you can turn the whole thing right side out.
I do a little fold for the bottom edge so that the lining fabric does not show.
I whip-stitched close the small opening. It is also possible to do an invisible stitch, if your fabric is stable enough.
And there you have it~
When I wear the camisole, it is never without an outer layer of clothing that covers my back, which is mostly for historical accuracy, and unfortunately for safety and privacy too because I can never know if someone decides to pull the ties loose. So that’s my last bit of suggestion!

Let's All Go Together! On A Houseboat Full-Course Tour!! 〜Day 1〜
The other day, my “Join Wakana! Houseboat Full-Course Tour” ended successfully after two eventful days \(^o^)/I had so much fun that time went by in a flash…just like a live show😂
I'd like to look back on these two fun days and share a lot of photos with you! First, I'd like to talk about the Day 1 event which took place in the evening😊Here's the meal I've been looking forward to for a long time! Huge tempura!! 🍤🍤🍤 So crispy!! A variety of amazing dishes!! 😭✨Take a look at this big ~Menu~. I'm so happy that we were able to do justice to the tour name by having so many different courses😊
I am saying my greetings to all participants of Day 1✨Cheers!! ♪(^^)o∀∀o(^^*)♪ Everyone seemed to enjoy their meal which made me very happy♪ We were all divided into groups at each table. Since there were a lot of solo attendees, I wondered what it would be like for them~?😳 Even though, some of them were meeting each other for the first time, everyone seemed to enjoy pouring drinks for each other and chatting. I was relieved to see you getting along with each other😊As expected, all my Botanical companions are full of kindness!! \(^o^)/Thank you!! \(^o^)/💕
We all got to enjoy the night view of Odaiba while feeling the night breeze on the boat♡ On that day, it was pretty windy and rainy in the morning so I was quite worried about our little boat trip…😱 I couldn't help but feel anxious💦 But just in time for the boarding, we were able to see the most beautiful sunset once the sky had cleared up a bit. The temperature was just right with a nice breeze. I think everyone enjoyed watching the sunset while waiting for the boat…😊(I was secretly watching everyone on board from afar and waving at you.) Anyway, I'm glad it was sunny😊💕
Here's a picure of Rainbow Bridge as seen from the houseboat🌉 And he Fuji TV building was shining brilliantly📺 There were many houseboats all around us ♪
We did a Q&A corner! It was fun😂But of course, the best thing about this houseboat was karaoke!! After boarding, we distributed a song list to everyone, and each table got to choose one song they wanted to hear. They all wrote their request on a little board we provided🌟(Here's one of the request boards. A fan drew this cute picture!) Here I am during the karaoke session🎤The song choices were well-balanced and varied, which was fun. Unfortunately, we all struggled a lot with the karaoke machine on Day 1🤣 I didn't know that I had to "select the original key," so I was confused when I kept getting a key that was too low for my voice. As for the microphone, I wanted to sing close to the speaker, but there was always feedback…It was difficult to find a goof position that didn't cause any trouble💦After a lot of trial and error, I ended up singing with my back facing the audience😂😂 Sorry to everyone behind me…😭😭Actually, the mystery was solved the following day. It seems that the houseboat karaoke machine is designed for people to sit while singing. Makes sense if you think about it. But at that time I wasn't able to figure it out at all🤣 That's why every time I stood up to sing, I got this horrible feedback *sobs*. But eventually, I found a good position that worked for me so I didn't leave that spot for the remainder of the karaoke session🎤At the end of Day 1, I found a wonderful message by a fan…😭✨A rabbit and sharks🦈🦈Thank you for the message😊
I chose this yukata for Day 1 because the yellow flowers were cute🌼I used a gyoza ornament for the obidome🥟This is actually a gyoza magnet that I received from a fan. I had it attached to my obidome🥟My manager actually helped me put on the yukata‼ ️\\\٩( 'ω' )و ////Some of the participants came to the event in kimonos and yukatas, it's amazing that you can put them on by yourself…😳 I'm jealous😳
All right, that was Day 1 of my “Join Wakana! Houseboat Full-Course Tour” ・:*+.(( °ω° ))/.:+ Next time I'll write about the event on Day 2 which took place during the daytime.
~To be continued~
Last but not least! Today, the key visual for "Wakana Classics 2024", was released, so I thought I'd talk a little bit about it here ♡ Sorry for the sudden departure from my houseboat stories😂For the photo shoot, I got to wear a beautiful dress again✨ It was raining really hard that day but thanks to my photographer who always brings the sun with him, it ended up being sunny! 😍 I'm glad we were able to take many pictures outdoors surrounded with greenery🌿 Actually, the composition of this key visual is pretty much the same as the one for my May live. I'm even looking in the same direction😊 This year, I was able to safely celebrate my 5th Anniversary as a solo artist. I'm looking towards the future, at all the things that I believe await me beyond today, "sono saki e". Believing that there is an even bigger world waiting for us "beyond," gives me the courage to continue to forge ahead with all of you. Please continue following me‼️\\\٩( 'ω' )و ////
Well, that's all for today! Until next time~☆( '▽')/

Let's All Go Together! On A Houseboat Full-Course Tour!! 〜Day 2
Well, today I'd like to talk about Day 2 of “Join Wakana! Houseboat Full-Course Tour”! This time, the event took place around noon‼︎\\\٩( 'ω' )و ////It rained from the morning on this day as well (why!😂) and I wondered what would happen but thankfully…the sun came out just in time!! ! ! \(^o^)/The view from the houseboat was the same Odaiba area, but during the day, it was completely different from the previous night's view. Such a refreshing blue sky! The Rainbow Bridge♪ And Fuji TV📺Look at those beautiful clouds…😍The sun was bright, but there was a lovely breeze, very pleasant〜😊
On the second day, I wore a grape🍇 patterned yukata🤗 Here I am filming something for my FC video section! 🎥 (please be patient and wait a little while longer)
My Botanical companions of Day 2 were watching over me with smiles on their faces😂Thank you everyone〜😆Here's a photo of everyone on the boat on Day📸Cheers‼️♪(^^)o∀∀o(^^*)♪ Everyone was just as energetic as during Day 1‼︎😊I'm actually jealous that you were all drinking alcohol in the daytime😍 (I just had oolong tea!) Once again I was looking forward to the freshly fried tempura!! 🍤💕I was so happy to see them bringing out all the delicious fried food…😭✨
It goes without saying that we were able to enjoy the view outside better than at night. I was also surprised at how fast we were going😳 I had a blast eating amazing food and looking at the gorgeous view 😊(Here's a lovely photo taken by my manager📸 Kind of looks like Spirited Away)
On Day 2, I finally learned how to use the karoake machine properly so I sang while sitting in the request karaoke corner😂I tried a few different sitting positions *laughs* Look at my half-sitting posture🤣🤣So innovative! I got to sing in a great place again😁🎶I wonder if it's okay to have karaoke sessions like this more often? Where I can just casually do whatever I want🎤*laughs* Sorry to everyone who only got to look at my back😂 I got another cute picture drawn on one of Day 2's request boards😊Amagi-Goe by Sayuri Ishikawa! It was fun to sing enka in front of everyone for the first time🎤
At the end of both days, there was a big raffle corner in which I gave away parts of my precious Pothos to two people each day! It's growing fast so I have to cut it regularly. It was the perfect timing to cut off a few parts for you😊 I actually bought my Pothos baby at "Shibuya Engei". My trip was featured in Botanical Tsushin Vol.12! Page 17!! (Look how tiny it was!😳By the way, the pot in the photo has since been repurposed for another baby of mine, a plant called Agave Titanota🌱) If you put a cut part of my Pothos into water, this is what will happen…! \\\٩( 'ω' )و ////Once the roots have grown, you can just change the water about once a month (it's okay if you forget to do it occasionally) By the way, I did an experiment to see if roots would grow from just the leaves, and they did! \\\٩( 'ω' )و ////That's amazing 😳To the four people who won parts of my Pothos, please take care of them and let them grow 😊💕And please don't worry, it's okay if they die! Plants are sensitive to their environment, so they die all the time! But once they find a place they like, they'll grow really big! I hope you have fun growing plants‼ ︎😍Everyone else, if you're interested, please also try growing a Pothos🌿
Finally, here are some of my stuffed animals. I had them on display all over the boat! So cute~🤤💕🐙🦈I put a lot of them around the karaoke machine too🦈In fact, I also placed a Kaito Kid plushie all the way in the back ( ̄▽ ̄) Thank you everyone for the fun time over the course of those two days‼ ︎‼ ︎‼ ︎・゜゚・:.。..。.:・'(゚▽゚)'・:.。. .。.:・゜゚・
It was my first time planning an event like this but we all had fun eating, talking about all sorts of things, taking pictures, singing songs… It was great😂I also got a lot of presents from you…😭✨My Botanical companions are always so kind and warm, you make my heart feel at ease😊Thank you so much!!! I'll keep thinking of more fun fan club activities for you! ! ! \\\٩( 'ω' )و ////Hopefully we can get back together soon!!
〜The end〜

And since this concert marks the end of my 5th year as a solo artist, I decided to create a special music box to commemorate the anniversary‼ ︎・:*+.(( °ω° ))/.:+ The song is "Sono Saki e"😊 I told the team I'd like to have a design inspired by stained glass. They really did a great job with the pattern on the top and the illustration in the box😭✨I hope you will enjoy this commemoration of my 5th Anniversary. Matching the title of the song "Sono Saki e"🌟, I'd like to convey all my thoughts for the future with this.
[Pre-order] Wakana 5th Anniversary "Sono Saki e" music box

A story about a crane.
When I was a little kid, I got really into origami. My elementary school library had a wall of art books and every week I'd check out one about origami and take it home to practice. I got good at turning printer paper into squares, and I'd sit at the dining room table trying to figure out all the different folds. I mastered the square base and the kite base and even the bird base, and I made lots of little animals! I'm sure I still have zebra-printed origami paper somewhere, a gift from a relative I think.
Despite my best efforts, I never could figure out how to fold a crane as a kid. My little fingers couldn't handle all the thick inverted folds, and I'd inevitably get frustrated and go back to making something more fun (my favorite projects were modular ones; I also folded a million of those jumping frogs). I eventually moved onto another art form (I think I was into mosaics after that) and have hardly touched origami in the 10+ years since.
---
This past weekend, I took the train into the next town over to visit a few shops there. I've been wanting to try out origami again, and I kept an eye out for origami paper at the bookstore and art supply store I visited, but no luck (the stores were lovely though! I bought a couple books I don't need and some stamping supplies that I do need).
I stopped to get a bagel and a coffee and entirely missed the hourly train back home. Chagrined, I ducked into a nearby gift shop to get out of the cold and kill some time before the next train. The shop was this lovely little Japanese-owned place, packed with greeting cards, and jigsaw puzzles, and earrings made by local artists, and a back wall with the most beautiful ceramics and carved chopsticks. And origami paper!!! I hadn't known this shop was here until then, how lucky, right?
I picked out this really pretty pack:
When I brought it up to pay (along with a cat greeting card for my mom), the nice lady working the checkout counter was excited to tell me that the designs on the paper are based on traditional kimono patterns, and she showed me how to fold a little origami pouch! She also gave me a bag because she could tell I was struggling to carry all my purchases (I'm not used to New Jersey yet and I always forget to bring a reusable bag with me), and slipped a couple chocolates in there when I wasn't looking, and she sent me on my way.
Today I sat down, looked up a tutorial, and finally fumbled my way through...
...my first paper crane.

First attempt at tying リボンむすび (ribbon musubi). It's not perfect, but not a total disaster! I used Billy Matsunaga's YouTube tutorial.
Considering that two days ago I had only the kimono and nagajuban, and I made the obi, obiage, and all the assorted ties and accessories in a mad overnight scramble, I think it came out pretty well! 😅

More hesdcanons about transfem Leo!
– Before her eyeliners were very simple, just a small line, but after meeting Karai that changed. At first she stayed up late watching tutorials to make more striking eyeliners and surprise her, but when Karai began to be with them more she helped her improve, and taught her how to make eye shadows.
– When Pride comes around she and Mikey turn on a speaker and listen to “Born this Way” every day. It can be heard throughout the laird.
– She likes fresh orange juice.
– Fugitoid gave her a makeup set from a foreign planet because he noticed that some makeup from Earth made her eyes burn. They were certainly better than those on Earth.
– At first when she started using makeup she did very simple things, just small eyeliners and occasionally light-colored eyeshadow. When she met Karai she started experimenting more, she started making bigger eyeliners and using other eye shadows. In the space arc with the makeup set that Fugitoid gave her she learned to put on face gems. When she met Shinigami and she and Karai gave her the black suit she taught her how to do gothic and emo makeup. And now that she is an adult her makeup is pretty good and she does her makeup like a diva.
– Mr O'Neil started giving the turtles therapy and he discovered that she had psychosis. He began to treat her as best he could and for a while they kept it a secret from her siblings, until her partner discovered it and helped her tell them.
– Sunflowers are her favorite flower.
– When Mikey is a girl she always asks her to make an ayeliner on her. Her little sibling loves it when she gives her very extravagant eyeliner and puts face gems on it.
– She would love to be able to wear earrings and rings (no ring fits the fingers of mutant turtles).
– She doesn't know how to draw, she knew how to sing very well, but after the incident with her throat she stopped doing it so often (she only sings occasionally or to practice her voice).
– When she was little she made lots of turtles with her brothers, but over time they learned to sleep alone and lost the habit. After her father's death they resumed that habit, making piles at bedtime or when it was cold.
– When it's cold and her siblings aren't around her, she likes to snuggle up in a giant faux fur coat.
– She and her brothers (especially Donnie) know how to repair many things, that's how they have survived until now. They found her coat in the sewer and washed and cooked it.
– Her brothers threw her a 16th birthday party when she was 18, it was so that this time she would wear a dress and a furi-sode kimono.
– When they were little she and Mikey watched The Powerpuff Girls together.
– Her counterpart from 87 asked her to teach him how to do eyeliner so he can slay like her.
– She and her brothers watch SiMon Queen Race (their version of RauPaul Drag Race).

Quick summary of Apple Arcade games I've played thus far
All games were played on the Apple TV 4K 128GB model, most with Dualsense, while games that support Siri Remote used the remote instead.
Sonic Dream Team: The maingame (except the contrived red-coin system) is a masterpiece, and the first Sonic platformer I've ever completed. The postgame(s) got weary on me, however.
Hello Kitty Island Adventure: The game is much more like Zelda and other breathlikes (The term I use for games that resemble BotW) than Animal Crossing. I'm mighty impressed by this game and then some.
Easy Come Easy Golf: Plays pretty good for a non-motion-controlled golf game. Could need to have far more courses far earlier in the game, as meaningful variation is practically none even at rank 8.
Way of the Turtle: Very good from the 25〜90% marks of the game, where it's a better Crash Bandicoot game than a lot of actual Crash Bandicoot games. But the endgame levels are brutal to the point of feeling like they weren't worth it.
Alto's Adventure: Honestly a fairly good game. I recommend it to people who've just bought an Apple TV and who are learning how the remote control works.
Amazing Bomberman: Complete rubbish. I could count the framerate on one hand, and that's on the newest Apple TV model.
Gear.Club Stradale: Kept crashing to desktop all the time. And I mean all the time. I was only able to complete 1 race on 5 attempts at starting the game.
Rayman Mini: Severely outdated. No one wants autorunners anymore, and certainly not autorunners that mangle the Rayman Legends timed missions.
Taiko no Tatsujin Pop Tap Beat: Safe to assume that Apple told the devs to make the game less weeb than most other TnT games, which is a good thing. The Power of Love is a nice touch, and the evergreen Cruel Angel's Thesis, the Touhou Song (Night of Knights), and Funiculi Funicula (a.k.a. the Spider-Man 2 pizza song).
Tetris Beat: Weeb stuff. Gave up after 10min because I hadn't heard of any of the songs.
Samba de Amigo Party-to-Go: On the entirely opposite end of the scale, and in fact has too many dance-pop songs. I do give positive shoutout to that its version of Macarena use the actual lyrics, and not the ones with the teenage girls chatting.
Riptide GP Renegade: Practically unplayable with Siri Remote, so I never tested it with Dualsense out of spite. Never got past the tutorial.
Pocket Card Jockey: Tested to see how far I could bruteforce my way through the intro with a Siri Remote, far past the alleged "Connect a controller" prompts. I miraculously managed to get to the first main level, at which point I felt that I had done my duty and never played it afterwards.
Frogger and the Rumbling Ruins: Managed to be less controllable than Pocket Card Jockey even with a Dualsense. Couldn't get past the very first section.
My Little Pony Mane Merge: The "Merge" genre is by itself the worst new game genre in several decades, but Gameloft clearly can't possibly have played even one puzzle console game in their lives, judging by how they mangled the controls beyond recognition.
Kimono Cats: Hardly has any activities in it that count as a game, and the few small remnances that are there are either weeb or Daily Challenges.
Disney SpellStruck: A good concept and is fun to play early on, but dear lords does it get repetitive. Not to mention the word validation system rejecting a lot of common words while accepting nonsense. The cameo of Tinker Bell's house from her titular movies is a nice touch, but a very short touch.
Warped Kart Racers: "We already have Sonic Racing Transformed at home" vibes. Additionally, the battle mode system is the worst in the history of car games. Yes, worse than that of FlatOut 3.
Squiggle Drop: Incomprehensible career progression, not helped by puzzles that start to make no sense after the circa 25th one.
JellyCar Worlds: If you've played 10 levels or so, you've essentially played them all.
Marble It Up Mayhem: Roughly half of the point-to-point levels were reasonably good. The "Collect spheres in a zone" levels were pretty boring.
Beyond Blue: I refuse to believe that any professional livestreamer scuba diver would willingly want to use a suit she described as itchy.
Ballistic Baseball: Seemingly impossible to hit the ball, and the English commentator has the least enthusiastic voice I've ever heard in my life.

Coloring method
This is under painting or tattoo method coloring. The outlines and gray/blacks are colored first on their own layer, then colors are layered on over them, using a variety of layer effects and transparency settings. A real tattoo design I did using this method (with paper and ink) looks like this:
[this is a simplified version of the Sutton Hoo longship find great gold buckle]
I'm pointing this method out because it's one way to do cartoon/manga style artwork faster. If you're coloring b&w artwork already, you don't need this, as the black and gray shading is done.
This wasn't done with underpainting. All the shading is done through carefully choosing shades and blending them. I'm about to see if underpainting is actually faster if you already know how to shade and blend.
So here's the under layer for my newest painting. Chuuya is dressed as an oiran in this one, so the kimono style is fancier and the obi certainly changes the shape. And his makeup is different. But the figure isn't all that different. We'll see what the silks turn out like (if I don't care for it, I can always start again from the outline layer)
All the color goes on top of the shading as a combination of screen, overlay (that's how I got the translucent flippers on the mermaid), linear or color dodge/burn or the oocasional vivid or pin light blend setting. And what orders the layers are stacked and what transparency (85% a good starting place).
This hasn't been a step by step tutorial, but it's someplace to start playing with your particular art program. If people are interested, I can try a post with more play by play on the layer effects for over painting

Being a 30 year old man who's most complicated dish ever made was tortellini with a bottled tomato sauce then baking mozzarella on top in the oven I can say I can't cook kraft dinner, grilled cheese and eggs are my I can make these items and not mess up. I've always loved anime and seeing all these mouth watering dishes in these shows that I wanted to try but have no skill to make on my own. I've followed a YouTube channel for a few years called kimono mom who does easy to follow tutorials of Japanese dishes. One weekend my family was away so I was cooking for myself and I had a burst of motivation to try to follow one of kimono moms recipes and this is the result... not perfect but that flavor was incredible!!! Omurice has been high on my want to try list for years I made some variations to her recipe due to not having all the ingredients. I added some yellow and red peppers to the rice as well as an onion. I had never used a rice cooker before... it took much longer than I expected so I started reducing my ketchup way too early it didn't burn but I reduced it too much so when I mixed the ketchup reduction with the rice it did not coat the rice well and my version has a very light red compared to kimono mom's dish. I will have to try this recipe again knowing the rice cooker can take 20 minutes to cook the rice so I don't over reduce the ketchup again. Oh and I did not have white or brown rice so I used Jasmin in mine instead.

is our academics score currently "fucking dumbass mcgee" or something, who else in a fucking kimono have we seen lately, goddamn
MAGICIAN SOCIAL LINK: GET. Yosuke as the Magician is.... interesting. I am not going to say he's a terrible Magician or make any assumptions, because remember when i said Yukari didn't make sense as the Lovers and then she turned out to be the Most Lovers Ever?
but at the moment Yosuke ddddddddoesn't have any of the hallmarks of what I would consider the Magician. He's active, I guess, but seems more compelled by external forces than by his own drive. also there's a severe lack of control and stagecraft to him. he's a bit sad clown but that's the extent of his performance.
The Magician is someone who is very active, who can throw themselves into situations and usually ride on luck and charisma and passion. They get in over their heads easily but also have a certain set of tools (internal or external, the Magician is very explicitly associated with physical focii like wand and athame and chalices, etc) that make them highly effective.
The Magician is someone who is a very mortal person, but who can feel the magic around them like a charge in the air, and they lift a tool to let lightning strike them, then channel that into their work.
Junpei hit that note right off the bat, reckless but effective, and later plagued by Imposter Syndrome (the perfect ailment for the Magician). Yosuke, I dunno yet. We'll see.
[/CARTOMANCY RAMBLINGS]
someone with some sense. points to Chie!
except she's........... not in the TV? she's fine? Chie calls the inn and gets her on the phone.
Patient. We're being patient. We're giving Chie a chance. Yukari wound up being great and we're going to let Chie blossom into a rad person. Yep.
there's a moment of Dojima being in a dour prime time crime drama, but I don't have patience for that and Chie too. The cops know nothing because "supernatural tv murders" doesn't come standard in their Clue games. Whateverrrrr.
oh thank god a character welcoming me back home, i needed this, thank you. i miss iwatodai.
Aaaaaaand Yukiko's in the TV now, and is on a Bachelorette-style show looking for a MAN and she has on SPECIAL LINGERIE and sigh.
yo i got FASHION
SAD ABOUT NANAKO HOUR IS EVERY HOUR. man, i had to take on a lot of adult responsibilities too soon, but I didn't do that at fucking six years old. Dojima, you suck.
YOSUKE IF YOU LIVED IN THE US YOU'D BE DEAD ON THE GROUND RIGHT NOW. YOU CAN'T JUST BRING A FUCKING KATANA TO A FOOD COURT AND SWING IT AROUND. you're only allowed to do that with guns in Open Carry states.
cannot overstate how you're not my dad. i would venture to say you're barely nanako's dad.
aw yeah that's right i've turned on dojima now. i don't care how nice your voice is, your daughter deserves better and you suck.
TO BE TOTALLY CLEAR
THE COPS SUSPECT YUKIKO OF MURDERING THE FIRST DEAD LADY
THE ONE LEFT ON A TV ANTENNAE
she's like 16 and refuses to eat steak, where exactly is she getting the ability to put a grown-ass body on a roof, did she rent a crane????? bruh.
I MISS YUKARI. SOB. where are the smart people.
Anyway. I finally have the Velvet Room and
wait its unfriendly girl who bumped into me who is apparently new in Golden!
lmao margaret is BRUTAL
can i have a social link with margaret because she's cool and has a great voice and i'm shallow and would love to hang out with another old soul of the weird metaphysical liminal limo.
please god lemme out of these tutorials and into the main routine already i'm withering, i'm dying.

The Ultimate Guide to Choosing and Styling Your Yukata from Yukata Australia
Diving into the world of traditional Japanese attire can be as exhilarating as stepping into a cool stream on a hot day. A Yukata from Yukata Australia not only cools and comforts but also immerses you in deep cultural heritage. Whether you're a seasoned enthusiast or a curious newcomer, this guide will walk you through selecting and styling your Yukata, ensuring every experience is as fulfilling as it is fashionable.
Understanding the Yukata
A Yukata is essentially a casual summer kimono, traditionally worn in Japan for various festivities. Think of it as the jeans and t-shirt of Japanese traditional wear—versatile, comfortable, and stylish.
The Importance of Fabric Choice
The choice of fabric can transform your Yukata experience. Cotton is breathable and perfect for warmer climates, while a blend can offer a lighter feel for those breezy evenings.
Selecting the Perfect Pattern
Patterns in a Yukata can express everything from personal style to seasonal themes. Whether you choose swirling koi fish or serene cherry blossoms, your pattern says a lot about your personality.
Sizing and Fit Matters
Just like any outfit, fit is crucial with a Yukata. A well-fitting Yukata should be snug yet comfortable, allowing you to move freely without the fabric slipping or bunching.
Color Theory in Yukata Selection
Colors can affect how we feel and how others perceive us. Bright colors like red or yellow can energize, while cool tones like blue or green can calm. Choose a color that complements your skin tone and suits the occasion.
Seasonal Considerations
Just as you wouldn’t wear wool in summer, choosing the right Yukata for the season is key. Lighter fabrics for summer and darker, richer colors for cooler months make your Yukata appropriate and comfortable year-round.
Accessorizing Your Yukata
Accessories can make or break your Yukata ensemble. A simple obi belt can accentuate your waist, while a pair of geta (traditional wooden sandals) adds authenticity and flair to your outfit.
Tying Your Obi Belt
The obi belt is the centerpiece of your Yukata. Learning a basic obi knot is essential, and there are plenty of tutorials that can help make this task as simple as tying your shoelaces.
Yukata for Different Occasions
From fireworks festivals to tea ceremonies, there's a Yukata for every event. Dressing appropriately for the occasion will help you feel part of the celebration and respect the culture.
Care and Maintenance
Maintaining a Yukata involves proper washing, drying, and storing techniques. Treat your Yukata like a beloved garment—handle with care, and it will last for years.
Yukata Styling Tips for Men
Men's Yukata styling focuses on subdued colors and bold, simple patterns. The key is in the fit and the minimalistic approach to accessories.
Yukata Styling Tips for Women
Women can experiment with vibrant patterns and colors. A floral obi belt or a colorful fan can add a personal touch that enhances the overall elegance.
Shopping at Yukata Australia
Yukata Australia offers a wide range of authentic Yukata directly imported from Japan. With quality assurance and a variety of styles, shopping for your Yukata is as enjoyable as wearing it.
Embracing the Yukata Lifestyle
Wearing a Yukata isn’t just about attending events; it's about embracing a lifestyle that appreciates simplicity, beauty, and tradition. It’s a way to connect with a culture that values the subtle art of living.
FAQ: Common Yukata Questions Answered
Still got questions? We’ve got answers! From how to choose your first Yukata to how to keep it looking fresh, we cover all the bases.

Kimono Origami Idea Two:
I had thought of trying a new presentation idea to add a new element into my Kimono research page as it is a traditional iconic garment of Japan so I wanted to make the research page the best showcase I could to display this. From using Pinterest board of origami, I had found this method and tutorial of creating an origami Japanese doll which wore a kimono. I had used the method shown on the video below. For this method it was slow at showing and clearly explained the steps to create the origami doll. I was glad that I tried something new, and it worked out for the best. With my finished result it looks perfect and shows the kimono look in an unusual way to display it I think I shall include this in my sketchbook to show another development and experiment I did use the idea of kimonos. I hope to continue the use of origami for some of my sketchbook pages as it creates a nice, interesting finish to my work.

Geisha - Cloth simulation and animation
Following the concept Alisa made for the Geisha, I started modeling the base shapes of the body, face, hair and accessories in ZBrush and Blender.
Once I sculpted the main shape of the body, I started working on the cloth and enhanced my skills with Marvelous Designer. To start working on the kimono, I first gathered reference and tutorials, to have a better foundation on which to start working.
youtube
Because Marvelous uses a tailoring system, I had to research how a kimono looks unfolded, in order to make the right proportions and sew the pieces together.
First attempt of kimono in Marvelous Designer:
In addition to modeling the cloth, I started to experiment simulating the cloth in Marvelous Designer, using some basic animations I downloaded from Adobe Mixamo.

Live Brief with Playground Games
Concept & Production #4
I was given the job to texture the geisha after my success with the spider. The team wanted me to tie in the design of the spider with Alisa's original concept. After importing it into Substance Painter, I noticed that there were issues with the UV maps loading in, I spent a long time trying to trouble shoot what the issue was before asking my team. They suggested it may be an issue with the UDIMs since the body used a set of UV's. I was able to research how to fix it with this clue and came across a YouTube tutorial on how to set up a Substance Painter document to allow a UDIM workflow.
youtube
It was an enjoyable challenge, I tried to stay as true as possible to Alisa's concept while carefully adding the same elements from the spider textures.
The Geisha's mask.
The Geisha's robe.
I tried to match the prints as best as possible, but the panels shared UV's in the UV map Theo made when creating the kimono. Unfortunately I was unable to match it exactly to the concept.
In the end, Theo couldn't get the textures for the clothing to work in Unreal so they were absent in the final animation. He says he'll try to troubleshoot this in the future with Wayne.
