Japanese Food Cravings
More people are becoming familiar with the unique culinary culture of Japan as the cuisine spreads throughout the country. People are lining up to get their hands on tempura, ramen, sushi rolls and other Japanese dishes. I'm taking a break and ordering takeout in the interim, but home cooks like myself are busily preparing their way through replicating some of their favorite Japanese dishes at home.
I ordered the following:
Shrimp and Vegetable Tempura Agedashi Tofu
Philladelphia Roll Salmon Skin Roll California Roll
"If I were trapped in one city and had to eat one nation's cuisine for the rest of my life, I would not mind eating Japanese. I adore Japanese food. I love it." - Anthony Bourdain

This katsu was SO good and simple I gotta give you the recipe:
Ingredients:
Golden curry
Vegetable stock cube
Potatoes
Carrots
One onion
Method:
Dice one onion and chop potatoes and carrots (You figure out how many) I like chopping the veg all asymmetrical and chunky so it looks all ghibli
Heat olive oil in saucepan and put the onions, potatoes and carrots for five minutes
Fill about 2/3 of the pan with water a with a vegetable stock cube and boil for 15 minutes
Throw in about 3 golden curry cubes until they've dissolved and it's the thickness that you like.
That's it!
Eating this SO MUCH lately I heckin’ love katsu but usually make it differently, this is way simpler and there’s always too much so I’ve been putting it in the fridge and heating it up with a bit of water again the next day.
✨And of course you gotta have the sushi rice with it✨

Being a 30 year old man who's most complicated dish ever made was tortellini with a bottled tomato sauce then baking mozzarella on top in the oven I can say I can't cook kraft dinner, grilled cheese and eggs are my I can make these items and not mess up. I've always loved anime and seeing all these mouth watering dishes in these shows that I wanted to try but have no skill to make on my own. I've followed a YouTube channel for a few years called kimono mom who does easy to follow tutorials of Japanese dishes. One weekend my family was away so I was cooking for myself and I had a burst of motivation to try to follow one of kimono moms recipes and this is the result... not perfect but that flavor was incredible!!! Omurice has been high on my want to try list for years I made some variations to her recipe due to not having all the ingredients. I added some yellow and red peppers to the rice as well as an onion. I had never used a rice cooker before... it took much longer than I expected so I started reducing my ketchup way too early it didn't burn but I reduced it too much so when I mixed the ketchup reduction with the rice it did not coat the rice well and my version has a very light red compared to kimono mom's dish. I will have to try this recipe again knowing the rice cooker can take 20 minutes to cook the rice so I don't over reduce the ketchup again. Oh and I did not have white or brown rice so I used Jasmin in mine instead.

Benefits of Miso for your Health
Miso (味噌) is made from soybeans and salt and kōji ( Aspergillus oryzae fungus) resulting in a thick paste used for sauces and spreads, to pickle vegetables, fish or meat and also to make Miso Soup known in Japan as Misoshiru (味噌汁)
Miso is a staple of Japanese cuisine and is rich in protein and other important nutrients that contribute to a healthy diet. It is a very common companion of Japanese dishes.
Miso is the main ingredient in miso soup, along with other ingredients that help make the soup more flavorful, such as salt, green onions, dried seaweed or seaweed, and tofu.
The benefits that you can find when consuming miso are:
- Improves digestion and intestinal flora
Miso contains all the amino acids that humans need, making it a great source of protein and is also a source of probiotics , foods or supplements that contain live microorganisms intended to maintain or enhance the “good” bacteria in the body and prevent bad bacteria grow in the gut. Drinking miso can help restore intestinal balance after antibiotic treatment.
