Acadamenic come back
Hi guys I have note been posting on Tumblr because I was in complete social detox for a month and Tumblr was shut off basically it was for April but some how I felt good and it got extended but I am back hehe🥳
Academic comeback is well let’s be frank every one talks abt it like everyone, yet many can’t do it. Let do a retrospective how many time you have said to yourself that you wanted to increase your score and said “I will do it next time for sure” yet it never happens.
The main reason is we aim we create goals but we fail to execute the plan and make actual changes that is were the root of the problem lie which we neglect we try to fix superficial issues but nerves forget the core issue that is improper study system
Right now I am trying to have an academic comeback like switching form 11 to 12 std I have drastic lowering in scores so it time to grow besties.
Chapter 1 : mistake analysis
Let’s first dig up the root problem to identify first try what you did wrong through the time of studying there would be something , it could as simple as not taking notes try to identify some fault in the system. If you can’t ask your parents if they stay with you ( why ? You might ask) the thing is parents observe us more than we realize my mother randomly told me that I only studying 6 hours a day compared to my 7 and 8 hours before I haven’t said her nor have I shared any of my time stamps at tumblr yet she recognized it so the best is to ask someone for help to identify our mistake in the way we do things.
Chapter 2 : plan
It is very crucial since we identified our fault we have to plan to fix it so we plan. Now if your current planning system is the fault you might have to you know change system otherwise current way of planning is fine just plan !
Chapter 3 ( most forgotten part ) : execution
Now people seriously sometime do all the above yest simple forget to implement the changes even if they do implement it for short term it not a long lasting change that will help but it not as effective as a full change.
Now the thing is this repeat on and off so I suggest myself and others to you use your Sunday evening for this process so small mistakes which you think are neglect able might be the cause for your stagnating scores so yes let hope we all fix our issues and grow
Bye besties

Bez Reviews Independent Books 1: Memory Leak
Hey everyone!  I wanna do little reviews/writeups for the independently-published books I find on itch.io, and so, here I am.  I want to review one book every month or two (or quicker, if I’m lucky); it’ll get me reading more, and get authors who often go without feedback some thoughts on their work!  I think it’ll be cool for everyone!
If you want your book reviewed, the only requirement I have is that it’s hosted on itch.io.  Even if itch is just one of many places you can get the book, I want to review books that have a home there at least.  Feel free to get in touch with me with your books—I’m @NaomiNorbez on Twitter (I refuse to call it X), Pillowfort, Threads, and Instagram; I’m @norbezjones on Tumblr; I’m norbez2.0 on Discord.
Looking forward to seeing your books! <3
__________
The first book I’m reviewing Is Memory Leak by @maxkirin !  M. Kirin is a streamer who I happened to follow not long before their book release.  That’s how I heard about it.  Some light spoilers below, but nothing too big is revealed.  Most of the major stuff discussed you can read about right on the book’s itch page.
The plot is basically this: a trouple made a controversial game that won many awards, and also got lots of hate.  Now, they’re trying to make a new project to follow up such a release, but spooky things are happening.  Will they find out why strange events are occurring, or succumb to the haunting?
Everyone’s trans, and I love it.  Adrian’s trans.  Eva’s trans.  Casey’s . . . idk, very queer at least.  She’s also missing for a while, which has turned the game making trio into a duo as they’re trying to finish their new game based on Twelfth Night by Shakespeare.
Most of the book is about blackouts & memory loss, which occur as development goes on.  Reading about those things hurt.  Especially the part where Adrian says, “It didn’t matter if he didn’t remember. He was making something. Something that mattered.” (pg 17-18).  That hit hard, as someone who’s experienced intense periods of memory loss in the past—that was during my pseudo-dementia era (more on that here if you wanna hear the full story).  I had a similar thought to Adrian when I was making A Single Ouroboros Scale while I had pseudo-dementia.  I was desperate to make an impact because I was convinced I would soon forget everything I knew, including how to make games, and everyone would forget me in turn.  It came out as well as you can expect from a very sick, depressed person (which is to say, not good), as I talked about in the postmortem.  I imagine that for our game development trio, the same result occurs.
The hauntings in Memory Leak are rooted in real-life problems in the game development industry, mainly crunch and overworking yourself in order to meet a deadline.  Though in the case of Adrian, Eva, & Casey . . . was a deadline ever specified?  It’s strongly implied, but not overtly stated, as I recall.  Regardless, as a creator in the internet/social media age, you do have to act quickly to release new works, or the public will forget you.  Perhaps that’s why they feel like they need to work as quickly as possible.  There’s some irony in that—the characters’ rush to be remembered, all while they forget more & more.  It’s sad sometimes, the things we sacrifice to be known.
Also, it turns out the famous game the trio made, King Leer, possibly indirectly caused the death of multiple people, and that isn’t mentioned until about halfway through the book?  It’s surprising how that information flies out of nowhere, like a sucker punch.  If one of my games indirectly caused a person to die, I would be haunted by that for the rest of my life.  But the trio seem to have gotten over it, somehow.
My main little nitpick about the writing is that Adrian is referred to as “the young man” quite a bit, and I didn’t like that.  It felt too impersonal, distant.  That’s also something I do in my own writing, referring to the character as anything but their name to avoid saying their name too many times in a row (I blame my OCD [which I literally do have, that is not a figure of speech]).  So maybe it irks me because I see myself in that repeated action.
As much as I like the writing style, I do have to acknowledge that it keeps us as a distance from the characters.  They’re young men, young women, lost souls.  It’s like we’re also haunting them, a ghost from beyond getting a peek into their lives from the top-down.  The chapter openers reinforce this: in those, you, the reader, are brought into the story, from a second person perspective, and given information about Starling games from YouTube videos, forum posts, messages, etc.  We see them win Game Of The Year, watch as fans deride & praise them, stuff like that.  It’s definitely an interesting way to give us information.
A big issue is that we’re told a lot that these characters love each other, but that bond isn’t quite shown to me. One can argue that it is between Adrian & Eva at least, but Casey?  In the beginning, it seems like she dislikes Adrian & Eva, but then there’s still a scene where she cries while apologizing to Adrian for yelling at him, saying how much she loves him.  I got the sense that she clings to Adrian & Eva because she used to love them, for a long time, and she doesn’t want to let that go.  Because to let that go would be venturing into unknown & very awkward territory.  How do you break up your polycule if you rely on them to earn a living and make games?  Short answer: you don’t, so you pretend instead.  And when you pretend enough, it can become real again.
This is a problem because the love these characters have for each other is a core tenant of the book, especially in the climax.  I wish we could’ve spent more time seeing how they fell in love with each other, back when Starling Games was new.  At least Casey’s love for the others becomes clearer as the book goes on; that’s a good thing.
As for the big twist, I saw the first part of it coming from a mile away.  That’s not a bad thing—a good twist should fit the plot & themes, not be 100% unpredictable, and this twist did.  The second part of the twist is mentioned on the book’s page, but the execution is so interesting you can almost forget that fact.
Last note: I was hoping the book would tell us why the works the trio make are so fucked up, if they’re a reflection of the soul, or just dark spurts of creativity.  The reason is revealed, and it’s fascinating—after all, if we’ve learned anything from The Beginner’s Guide, it’s that art doesn’t always reflect the author.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book.  It was a very interesting story about the struggle of game development, and how our search for a legacy can haunt us.  The characters are interesting, and the story is very well told.  I would recommend it.
If you want to read Memory Leak, you can do so FOR FREE right here!  Give it a look!  Please!  I’m begging you!
Thanks for reading!  The next review will be of To Wield The Darkest Night by Beau Van Dalen.  But I don’t know what I’m doing after that, so please send me your lovely books!

hi! we don’t know each other, but i’d really like if you could read this ask. no need to post it, but i don’t mind if you do. regarding the situation surrounding yozoku, there are certain things i’d like many, many tumblr users to understand.
yes, it was an honest mistake that you didn’t realise “yozoku” was a username on tumblr as well, someone who’s entirely not connected to the one on wattpad. it’s great that you apologised, but there is something we need to clarify: the way you “exposed” this to begin with is wrong. i’m certain that you’re not the first to encounter plagiarism of this sort - i’ve witnessed how @flwrstqr and her moots also encountered instances like that. it’s impossible that people don’t know the reaction that comes out of this — death threats, hate mail, even doxxing at one point if anyone recalls. the repercussions of publicly exposing ppl are what drive so many kids to self harm or suicide in this day and age, and it’s terrifying to watch it happen real-time.
do i agree with plagiarism? no, absolutely not. i write too, and if someone were to copy my work, which i take pride in, i’d be pretty upset too. the issue i take with the way yall handled this is that plagiarism is being taken as a great sin deserving of scorn and death threats. in reality, you’re inadvertently enabling your followers to go on a witch hunt. the people who actively sent hate are not faultless either regardless of who they aimed the trigger at. previously it might have turned out okay, but now they’ve nailed someone innocent. this is the possibility i envisioned when i first saw somebody call out someone for plagiarism on their main acc.
it’s good that you tried contacting the wattpad author and request they take it down. or if you wanted to take it a step further, inform the writers who got their work plagiarised privately, so they could talk it out with the real yozoku on wattpad. i understand you got blocked, but if you and the many affected writers had just gone and reported yozoku’s stories, i’m sure wattpad would have eventually taken notice. spreading the news and inciting a mass report and threat onto the yozoku on wattpad might be effective, but is it right? the writer could be a kid. the demographic on tumblr and wattpad in these circles tend to be kids! yes they can be spiteful and petulant at times, but they don’t know any better. i don’t think anyone should agree that they deserve hate and death threats, because while you’ve cleared the name of yozoku on tumblr, these death threats are going to be directed towards yozoku on wattpad. and if the message to your viewers wasn’t “please spread the news”, yozoku on tumblr would not have has to bear the brunt of the insults. also you mentioned that wattpad isn’t very used anymore, so if the following on those two stories wasn’t half as big as the following of the affected writers, the issue could have been handled with a bit more calmness and nuance.
and yes, i know! this is a deeper issue with the way the internet works - desensitisation, keyboard warriors, etc. it’s an issue not limited to tumblr, or wattpad. it’s a wider problem rooted in internet culture all over the world. but maybe you can consider that you guys have big followings, and how you use them matters. it’s heartening when yall use your followings to spread support for gaza, amongst other activist movements. but where does activism end and cyber bullying begin? this isn’t meant to condemn anyone, and i do not wish for any hate to go anywhere anymore. i sincerely hope that everyone involved reflects on how they’ve handled this situation and those prior. and i know many of yall are just kids too! and i’d hope that you extend the same space for others to grow, the same space you’ve been given too.
thank you!
Hi, I’m so sorry for not responding to this earlier. I have been super busy recently! Their acconut on wattpad has been taken down.
I do appreciate you sending me this and I do agree with you on most of the things you said. However my post was not made in a sense of wanting to attack someone, it was simply to spread awarness. How people take things and decide to act upon that is not my responsibility anymore. Everyone is grown enough to make decisions for themselves. I am not responsible for that.
While I do agree that hate breeds hate I was not hating on anyone, not even this said person who did copy other peoples fics. I never once told ANYONE to go send hate and death threats, that’s where the line is truly crossed.
It was my mistake that I mentioned the acconut that was on blr, and I am so incredibly sorry for that! I take blame for that and I should’ve been more careful.
Maybe this person is a child who knows we can’t ever be sure of someones age. But did u see how this person went on one of the writers page (mind u the one this person plagiarized from) to send hate and telling them their fics sucks ass and overall acting very entitled. I feel like that tells alot too. That’s where this person crosses the line TWICE.
My intention with MY post was to tell people that there is a person like that going around. I feel like these writers deserved to know, and to also warn other writers. I kept the tone in my post fairly respectful.
Have a great day!

you're one of my main actual halseyposting mutuals so ive been scrolling thru your posts about h5 and just need to vent omg. i keep rereading h's tumblr posts and they're making me fall for the final album rumors.... idk if it's true but this album is going to be a bang, no matter what it represents - a new beginning, a final chapter (@ the iichliwp tour which was divided into chapters), a goodbye, a cry, etc. i wonder what it will be - a return to roots? an exploration into novel sounds? will it be a thousand songs with the same gutting energy as forever... is a long time ? i just can't wait to love it for whatever it is, but i think it's going to be a pill to swallow in whatever form it takes. does "all of this is temporary" still apply if they announce that this is her big finale?
personally, h has the habit of releasing albums at extremely pivotal points in my life and development as an adult, so a part of me is like oh shit if this is it then where do i begin and end? but that's not your problem, its mine :) a penny for your thoughts and your comprehension about what is happening, what this means, etc.
and for fun, i would love to know your fav underrated lyric. 💜💜
I've seen very little hype for H5 in online spaces which is. A bit disappointing but everything h has hinted about so far suggests a long hiatus imo?? Because they've signed a deal with a new label, so it doesn't make sense for it to be a single album deal?? But I'm not sure honestly, maybe she's going for a complete brand change or trying out something different (ie acting, or focusing on about face). As for the sound I think 70s rock would be the vibe but honestly I wouldn't be surprised if they do something completely new and shocking. SKSKSKS there are SO MANY thoughts and so little to go by I just can't wait to see where it goes

@ 4234:
Not sure if they're checking for any responses, but mostly I wanted to agree. I haven't been in many fandoms, but even the main one I'm in now is alot more "cliquey" compared to years ago when RP and ask blogs were still really common. Now, alot of RP is mostly in Discord, and while I agree the messaging is easier/better than on Tumblr, Discord groups feel more closed off and gatekeepy at times. Plus my OTP is a NOTP for alot of people in the fandom, and I'm not interested in the juggernaut ships, so I get left out of alot of fandom events.
Tbh, I know it's not for everyone, but I've done better in a multi-fandom server I joined compared to any of the servers that are specific to the fandom I'm in. The one I joined I only did,cuz the admin is someone I already knew from my main fandom. I knew they were fair and kind, and they had modding experience in other servers, and it's been overall a great experience, until the server unfortunately died a while back, just due to the admin and other mods having irl stuff come up and take up all their time.
The only other server I've had a good time in was one that's specifically for fic writers in the fandom, which has events and showcases fics of people in the server, so it's alot of us pumping each other up and infodumping about our ideas and AUs.
Something I've had to learn to look out for when going into servers is in rules. Channels that state people's triggers and squicks is well-meaning, but unfortunately, in every server I've been in that had that turned into a wankfest sooner or later, usually with 2 or 3 BNFs in the server attacking each other or smaller creators in the server, using things in the trigger and squick list to harass or claim they were being harassed. Similar wankfests happened if the server has a list of topics and/or ships that aren't allowed to be talked about. Even if someone doesn't mention a forbidden topic/ship in the server, if they post stuff about it on Tumblr, Twitter, or ao3, they usually end up getting attacked in the server or just straight-up banned.
The servers I had/have good times had few if any forbidden tropes/topics/ships. If anything, it was only asked they only got mentioned in certain channels. The few times any wank came up, it got shut down within the same day.
Unfortunately, I don't have any advice for navigating fandom on Tumblr (and I avoid fandom spaces on Instagram and Twitter). I tend to just keep to myself on here, only ever talking to 2 or 3 people and not even all that much.
I hope you're okay, #4234. I'm in a small fandom, too, and I know that gossip runs rampant, so people end up hearing about callouts, even if they don't see the actual post. I've never been in that situation, so I don't know if this is good advice or not, but I'd suggest only sticking to talking to a few people for now. There will be some people who will refuse to interact with you, but even if others aren't actively reaching out, there are others who don't believe the callout, whether cuz they know the person posting it isn't credible or they've become skeptical when it comes to callout posts in general. So there will still be people willing to hear you out, if you choose to stay in that fandom and try making friends in it again.
Definitely close your asks (or at least close anon) if you haven't done that already, and depending on the level of harassment you're getting, I'd suggest making your posts nonrebloggable. I'm not sure if you're a creator in the fandom, so I know it can hurt to keep creating and not get any notes, but it's better than people reblogging your art, edits or writing only to add hurtful comments to keep harassing you.
I might not know who you are, but I'm rooting for you and hope you'll find a space in fandom (current one or another fandom if you decide to move on) that welcomes you.
Posting since this is a response to a previous problem.

I feel like a big thing people tend to forget when it comes to couples who only stay together for the kids is that sometimes "just get a divorce" isn't a viable option. Yes, at least here in the West, most people have access to no-fault divorces. They can just go get one if they really want one. However, that isn't actually the problem.
The actual problem is that there's a lot of people--and in practice, this is usually men--who'll get a divorce, but then won't ever pay a cent in child support, or will maybe pay a little bit but then fall tens of thousands of dollars behind. That old stereotype of the deadbeat father who refuses to pay child support despite having a job, or quits his job or finds under-the-table employment specifically to avoid paying it, isn't some old wives' tale. There really are people like that out there.
So nine times out of ten, what "staying together for the kids" means in practice is that the mother knows the marriage isn't good, but she's staying because she thinks getting child support from the father will be like extracting teeth. It isn't always a choice between either raising the kids in a home where their parents are always fighting or a home where they're divorced but coping better emotionally; sometimes it's either the home where they're always fighting or poverty.
I can't actually prove this, but I suspect this is the root cause of a lot of the divorces where two people stay together for decades and then suddenly get a divorce after the youngest kid finishes high school. Of course getting the divorce would be preferable under ideal circumstances, but they don't get the ideal circumstances. They get the devil's choice.
At least anecdotally speaking, this tends to play out in the cases I know of where this happens. Let me give you an example. For a while, I had the misfortune of working with a man who'd gotten a divorce shortly after his youngest child had gone off to university. When I asked him about why he got divorced, his response was basically "uh, the kids grew up and then she decided she didn't love me anymore?".
What stuff like this usually means in practice is that she'd had that planned for years and he was the last to know about it. I totally get why she divorced him--he was emotionally immature in a way that might have been endearing when they were 21, but disappointing when they reached their thirties or forties and she realised he hadn't matured like she had. Unsurprisingly, his kids didn't really have a lot to do with him, and he seemed confused as to why.
When you're talking about people like this, they're not really going to understand that child support is important. Even if you explain it to them, they won't get it. They just think it's free money that mothers get for divorcing men. This is one of the main reasons why they won't pay it even if they're in a position to. It's why you hear so many stories of people having to be in and out of court for years--most of the child(ren)'s school years, even--over unpaid child support.
And look, none of this is to say that nobody should ever get a divorce ever. My parents got a divorce and I think it's one of the best things they ever did for me. But I'm also looking at this from a position of relative privilege: when I lived with my mother, my dad paid more child support than he was legally obligated to, and he always paid it on time. Even on the rare occasions when he couldn't do that, he had what he owed and what he'd missed ready the next week. What I'm trying to say is that even though I had certain privileges, and I'm assuming a lot of people on Tumblr also had them, it can't be taken as a given that everyone would have had them.
The other thing that my parents did right was that was never any major disputes over custody. They both kept to the agreement on that front, and there was never a point where they decided to go to court over it.
This can't be taken for granted, either. There's a lot of cases where one parent or the other will try to sue for custody, or even sue for the original custody agreement to be followed. At least in the cases I know of where this happens and the custody agreement is being followed and abuse isn't a factor, it's either because of money or one parent's ego. At least in my state, part of how much you owe in child support is decided is up to how much time the child physically spends with you.
I'm sure there'll be someone who reads this and goes, "Yeah okay, but none of this would have applied to my parents. They still should have gotten a divorce." That probably is true for a lot of people. There are a lot of people out there who'll let a bad relationship drag on for years before they end it either because they don't realise it's bad or because they're scared of what comes next.
What I would point out though is that this may not be entirely true, or maybe wouldn't have been evident while it was happening. The one thing I know about breakups is that you don't always know how it's going to go until it happens. Even if you knew how they responded to their last breakup, that can't always be taken as true for their next. Everyone who's had multiple relationships end will have regrets about how some ended--they'll wish they'd have said one thing instead of another, or they'll wish they'd responded differently in general. This is especially true if they've had years to dwell on it.
The other thing in this regard is that quite often, children don't know their parents as well as they think they do. A lot of the time, parents won't mention something or will try to downplay another because they're trying to protect the kids. (Of course, the inverse is also true--parents don't always realise how much their kids pick up on, so the kids often know their parents better than they realise.) Quite often, you won't know how your parents respond to a breakup until they divorce because that's the first time you will have seen it.
Because of that, it's entirely possible that the parent you think will always pay their child support or will keep to the custody agreement might not. Sometimes they won't specifically to spite this other person that they've divorced and probably resent to some extent, and won't realise how damaging that is to their kids until years later, if ever.
So while I agree that more people should get divorced and it is true that people will stay together for years longer than they should, I think it's important to realise there are nuances to this. Sometimes everyone involved knows it's a bad relationship but can't leave because the alternative might be even worse.

Why Core Shiksha? Because Every Strong Mind Starts with a Strong Base
Hey Tumblr fam! 👋
Let’s talk real for a minute. You know how we all want to crack big exams — UPSC, SSC, CUET, or even just ace our school subjects? We dive into heavy books, sign up for coaching, attend online classes, and binge YouTube explainers. But here’s a question:
How many of us actually understand what we’re studying?
The truth is, a lot of students today are struggling — not because they’re lazy or not trying hard enough — but because their core concepts are weak.
And that’s exactly what Core Shiksha is here to fix. 💡
The Problem No One Talks About
Let’s be honest — most of us were never really taught how to learn. We’ve been in a system that rewards memorizing, not understanding. So when we try to prepare for competitive exams or go deep into subjects like History, Geography, Polity, or Science, things start falling apart.
Here’s what happens:
You sit with your UPSC material and feel like you're reading a foreign language
You try to solve SSC Quant questions and forget the formulas you memorized last year
You open your NCERT books, read 5 pages, and still feel clueless
It’s frustrating, right?
That frustration doesn’t mean you’re not smart. It means your foundation isn’t strong enough yet — and that’s okay. That’s something you can fix.
What Core Shiksha is?
Core Shiksha is not another coaching center. It’s not a shortcut to crack exams.
It’s a movement. A platform. A resource that says:
“Let’s go back to the basics. Let’s build from the core.”
We believe that if your basics are clear, you can master any subject, any exam. And we’re here to help you do that — for free.
What we Offers ?
We’re not here to overwhelm you with 500-page PDFs. We’re here to make things simple, clear, and useful.
Here’s what you’ll find at Core Shiksha:

Who Should Use Core Shiksha?
Literally anyone who wants to learn better.
School students who want clear NCERT notes
Competitive aspirants tired of confusing material
Self-learners who want to start from scratch
Anyone who’s ever thought: “I wish someone explained this simply.”
Why the Name “Core Shiksha”?
Core Shiksha means foundational education — strong roots that help you grow tall and achieve your goals.
Because we believe one powerful truth:
No matter how hard you work, if your foundation is shaky, you’ll keep struggling. But if your basics are clear, you’ll learn faster, remember longer, and perform better.
That’s why our content starts from the very beginning — from the ground level — and helps you rise from there.
Why This Matters More Than Ever
Today’s world is all about competition. And in that race, a lot of students feel left behind.

An Introduction to Alex Evergreen.
AKA, "you know what I really should put my stuff on tumblr"
This is my official introduction to my guy, my muse, my blorbo Alex Evergreen. he lives in my head rent free and has consumed my waking thoughts for the last YEAR.
long post, content under the cut.
he is:
lonely
very smart
absolutely terrible at introspection. he's an idiot.
independent. too much so for his own good, really. once flew across the Atlantic ocean when he was 12. without telling anyone. because he wanted to visit his friend who had gone home for the summer.
I love him
has a collection of highly ironic t-shirts. the t-shirts vary by au but options include "science: like magic but real" when he's a wizard.
ask me about the t-shirts.
quiet
HUGE nerd.
forgets to be quiet when he's being a nerd
he is very hard to befriend but is INTENSELY ride-or-die
appears tolerant and chill until you cross a line, and then he will end you. he once sent himself to the hospital due to blood loss as part of his plan to get back at someone.
he buried someone alive in the woods when he was 16. because he didn't want to hurt them and needed them out of the way.
Background: he is, unfortunately, rooted in HP because he's a result of me saying "what if harry was replaced with someone who behaves entirely differently, with the exact same background?". JKR sucks and is transphobic, pass it on.
among other things, he:
figured out he had powers when he was 8 or 9. however, he assumed that he was force-sensitive rather than a baby wizard.
befriended multiple garden snakes
stuck the hogwarts letter up his shirt when he got it, thus avoiding the whole letters incident
decides staying with the Dursleys for the rest of the summer would be stupid and boring and gets money for transit to London from Vernon with the promise that he'll be out of Vernon's hair until next summer.
he rents the smallest room he can find in diagon alley. not bc of price but because normal sized rooms feel too big to him.
sorts slytherin. this is not taken well by anyone. this eleven year old is met with DEAD SILENCE from the entire great hall because they either are shocked that their little baby hero got the evil house or because they've taken this as a sign that he's the next dark lord.
allows himself to be befriended by draco because he can tell that draco has a lot of social power and figures that standing behind the bully is better than getting picked on by them
fights the troll- reason varies by au. in the original/base au he does it bc he realizes that if someone gets pasted by a troll they might close the school. in the "true" version he does it to protect someone who was kind to him.
he knows far more spells than Harry and Ron did, but none of them are effective on a troll, which is resistant to magic. his strategy is to make it mad and stall for time until the teachers arrive.
is terrible at quidditch
this causes quirrel to put a snake under his bed instead of trying to make him fall off a broom
he convinces the snake not to kill him
is entirely disinterested in the philosopher's stone and the third floor corridor
"someone's trying to steal the infinite money and live forever stone? sounds like a problem for adults."
not that he thinks adults are competent enough to stop it happening. he just doesn't care.
the mirror of erised works as intended, actually, if quirrel ever gets there.
quirrel probably either takes one last stab at alex before going for the stone or is unsuccessful and returns to trying to kill alex while he works on that. alex uses the protection his mother gave him to kill quirrel.
while fighting quirrel doesn't really make sense, I wanted to keep that in so that the main events in following books would still happen.

I'm not just a scarian enjoyer i DO enjoy other ships and I am genuine when I say I enjoy scaridarity. Im not one sided lmao- I see your points very clearly and it sucks when other ships take over the content for one ship.
I guess what I was TRYING to get across is this is not a problem inherently rooted in the scarian/desertduo community. And also that no matter who is doing it, it's not very fair to criticise and hate on artists for having different interpretations/headcanons.
This is always gonna happen some way or another, some things are going to me more popular. And it really really does suck when you can't find heaps of content on your main ships, etc, or really if you can't find content for things you like in general. I really do get that.
Also I think it's less of a problem with scarian/desertduo shippers purposely taking over other ships and more of a problem of how tumblr's search engine works. Ofc it's likely that a more popular ship will pop up more even in places it's not entirely relevant- which is unfortunate, but the people just having fun with THEIR OWN headcanons aren't to blame, UNLESS they go around hating on a ship/purposely trying to undermine it- then you have every right to be angry, obviously.
Is the problem that scarian/desertduo is more popular? I don't think any one who enjoys it is to blame for that though.
I can't explain how much I hate when people take all the credit from scaridarity as its own ship only to make scarian shit out of it because it's almost EVERYTHING you can find while looking for scaridarity content
let's go through basic perhaps. jimmy IS NOT grian. he DOESN'T HAVE to be like grian to make a good partner for scar. scar REALIZES that his dynamic with grian isn't good and WOULD NOT project it on anyone else
desert duo shippers stop doing everything about yourself, I feel like I got back in tn1duo times

Echoes of Elysium | Disco Elysium AU ...something?
Warnings
General warnings for my blog's content applies. Check here.
This AU is (rather) not very alternative. I am just trying to develop further events and some background for the characters, but even though I'm making research and I try to stay canon-compliant, only to fill in the gaps, I cannot guarantee it will never happen. Especially in this fandom, where many interpretations and paths are equally canon, we may not agree on some things, I hope you'll enjoy my point of view nevertheless. Some episodical OCs will appear too.
INDEX
EOE on ComicFury!
EOE on Tumblr:
Chapter 1: New Beggings -> START
EOE on AO3:
Main plot (uhh still in the process of uploading!)
Ficlet series (additional content)
LORE:
Precinct 41 plans and explanation
Plot outline
After Martinaise things are slowly getting back to normal, but the general atmosphere in the city gets thickens every day, La Retour is hanging in the air. Despite this, Harry is trying to stay sober and make amends. It's hard to say if Kim's appearance on the 41st is making things easier or harder between Harry and his old friends.
The Return happens. In the after-revolutionary mess, everybody tries to move on, but things are changing in almost every aspect of life. And on top of this, a particularly hard case drops and somebody has to take care of it.
The start of the project is directly after Martinaise, so forgive me this vague description, but I would hate to spoil the plot haha.
Okay, from now on additional info, still important but not crushial.
I want to focus on the relationship between the people of Precinct 41 and their internal experiences. Impactful events and thicker action will happen too, but mostly in the later chapters of this.
There are also some important premises of this AU I would like to highlight:
Kim was raised in an orphanage, presumably held by some Dolorian organisation (order?). Some of his old-fashioned manners and vocabulary are remainings after growing up in a religious environment (even if he's not very religious himself).
Eyes died around 9 months before the events from the game. Since then, Kim has been willingly working alone. His superiors were not very fond of that but somehow he managed not to get partnered with anyone.
Harry has no known family members left. At least as far as he and his friends know.
Jean and Harry's partnership started four, maybe five years ago. According to the game, it was "two years minimum" but personally I think those losers were stuck with each other for much longer.
Jean's years-long, unexplained depression has roots in some sort of personality disorder. Also, he is codependent on Harry, probably co-addicted too. He had problem with speed himself, however it's not nearly as serious as Harry's. I see him as more of a weekend/party drug user, as for now.
I assume that since the communist revolution gay relationships were technically legal in Revachol. Technically, because there are still no rights for same-sex couples and the social recognition is poor and rather negative (I got inspired by my own country in that matter)
That's all I can think of now. I will probably just add new information in the description of he pages.
Okay, cool, one last thing. What do you mean by "...something?"? Is this a comic? A fanfiction series? What am I looking at?
The answer is: I don't yet know. I am planning this to be mostly a comic, but I cannot say there won't be some written as fanfics parts or some kind of in-between media. I don't really want to limit myself to one medium only, but at this point, I have no idea what this will evolve into. I honestly just want to have fun lol

Note
i do actually have massive issues with the tone of this post [mrs-monaghan/720032101019353088/taekook-always-lead-in-fancam-views-because-their] minimising jungkook’s achievements (and tae’s for that matter but you can’t talk about him here unless to hate on him otherwise you’re accused to be a tkker). explain to me why it’s so important that jimin’s songs do better than jungkook’s? why is it not relevant when jungkook’s fancam is the most watched on tiktok but like crazy catching up to dreamers is so important? why were all jkkers actively tweeting about jimin surpassing jk’s record to 1b streams? never jk surpassing jimin in anything? jk’s achievements are never discussed by jkkers yet you defend jimin like your life depended on it. show me the last time you praised jk that wasn’t for his dick or what you think he does to jimin. jkkers never talk about jk as an individual without it relating to jimin yet jimin is praised on the daily like it’s your job.
Your main issue about me being a Jikooker and seeing JK as a shipping tool 👇🏽
I made my stand clear on this issue here
Here i once again praise both men because I support both and said JK will indeed break Jimin's records
I can't shut up about JK breaking Jimin's records
And lastly I dare you to tell me that this here isn't me being on JK's corner.
Your other issue about Jikookers and I talking about Jimin surpassing JK. Because he has??? And we are only talking about the records Jimin is breaking Because currently he's the only one between them breaking records?? He's the only one between them who's dropped an album so we are keeping up with FACE and it's achievements. When JJK1 drops and me and other Jikookers aren't praising him and talking about his achievements then by all means go off. But as it stands JK hasn't done anything. There is no album to talk about. Left and Right is making noise sure but anything it wins goes to Charlie poop. I want JK's own music where he gets the awards, he gets the credit.
Whatever you have seen on tumblr or on twitter is not my problem. I am not ALL Jikookers. I am Shaz. And me as Shaz love BOTH Jimin and JK. I root for both Jimin and JK. I can praise JK's dick and still praise his achievements. Those two are not mutually exclusive. I resent this accusation and honestly fuck you with a cactus.
Tumblr media
And fuck you for having an issue with us defending Jimin like our lives depend on it. He's the one who's always gotten fucked over my the company not JK. What is there to defend JK on when he gets the royal treatment while Jimin doesn't? Even today with their individual fancams coincidentally Jimin's own is the only one that only had a link. All the other 6 had their photos. This can affect views because the human brain is attracted to imagery more than just words. They only just fixed it like 2 hours ago. This is something so trivial and normally no one would give a shit. But when this shit keeps happening to Jimin over and over people can get triggered over the smallest shit. Thus why PJMs made a big deal over a simple cake. A cake that Jimin wouldn't have eaten anyway coz of his diet but why can't he get what others got?? Even after he achieved something that hasn't been achieved since the 1960s?? He wasn't just the first Korean but the first Asian to get a number 1 on BB hot 100 since the 60s and what did BH do for him to celebrate this? Fuck all. And u wanna be mad at us for defending him like our lives depend on it.
Maybe there are Jikookers out there who don't see JK as anything more than Jimin's lover. But that aint me. But yes, you will find more shipping posts on my blog than achievement posts because that's what this is. A shipping blog. I am here for Jikook's relationship so yes, its what I will talk about the most. I also talk about the Jungkonda alot because yes, man has a big dick and I wanna talk about it. And so what if it's more interesting to me?
And incase you hadn't noticed I answer asks. I don't make my own posts.
You wanna see JK math then go follow JK data accounts that only post about his music and achievements. I will mention these things occasionally but I'm primarily here for the Jikook relationship. I'm sorry if you misunderstood but I hope that's clear now. That also goes for Jimin. I definitely talk more about his relationship than I do his achievements. Why aren't you mad about that??
Just say you're a JK solo and go.

disability in the Six Of Crows Duology; an analysis of Kaz Brekker, Wylan Van Eck, and the fandom’s treatment of them.
****Note: I originally wrote this for a tiktok series, which im still going to do, but i wanted to post here as well bc tumblr is major contributor to what im going to talk about
CW: ableism, filicide, abuse
In the Six of Crows duology, Leigh Bardugo delicately subverts and melds harmful disability tropes into her narrative, unpacking them in a way that I, as a disabled person, found immensely refreshing and…. just brilliant.
But what did you all do with that? Well, you fucked it up. Instead of critically looking at the characters, y’all just chose to be ableist.
For the next few videos paragraphs im going to unpack disability theory (largely the stuff surrounding media, for obvious reasons) and how it relates to Six Of Crows and the characterization of Kaz Brekker and Wylan Van Eck, then how, despite their brilliant writing, y’all completely overlooked the actual text and continuously revert them to ableist cariactures.
Disclaimer: 1. Shocker - i am disabled. I have also extensively researched disability theory and am very active in the disabled community. Basically, I know my shit. 2. im going to be mad in these videos this analysis. Because the way y’all have been acting has been going on for a long ass time and im fuckin sick of it. I don’t give a shit about non-disabled feelings, die mad
Firstly, I’m going to discuss Kaz, his play on the stereotypical “mean cripple” trope and how Bardugo subverts it, his cane, and disabled rage. Then, I am going to discuss Wylan, the “inspiration porn” stereotype, caregivers / parents, and the social model of disability. Finally, I will then explain the problems in the fandom from my perspective as a disabled person, largely when it comes to wylan, bc yall cant leave that boy tf alone.
Kaz Brekker
Think of a character who uses a cane (obviously not Kaz). Now, are they evil, dubiously moral, or just an asshole in general? Because nearly example I can think of is: whether it be Lots’O from Toy Story, Lucius Malfoy, or even Scrooge and Mr.Gold from Once Upon A Time all have canes (the last two even having their canes appear less and less as they become better people)
The mean/evil cripple trope is far more common than you would think. Villains with different bodies are confined to the role of “evil”. To quote TV Tropes, who I think did a brilliant job on explaining it “The first is rooted in eugenics-based ideas linking disability or other physical deformities with a "natural" predisposition towards madness, criminality, vice, etc. The Rule of Symbolism is often at work here, since a "crippled" body can be used to represent a "crippled" soul — and indeed, a disabled villain is usually put in contrast to a morally upright and physically "perfect" hero. Whether consciously on the part of the writer or not, this can reinforce cultural ideas of disability making a person inherently inferior or negative, much in the same way the Sissy Villain or Depraved Homosexual trope associate sexual and gender nonconformity with evil. ”
Our introduction to Kaz affirms this notion of him being bad or morally bankrupt, with “Kaz Brekker didn’t need a reason”, etc. This mythologized version of himself, the “bastard of the barrel” actively fed into this misconception. But, as we the audience are privy to his inner thoughts, know that he is just a teenager like every other Crow. He is complex, his disability isn’t this tragic backstory, he just fell off a roof. It’s not his main motivation, nor does he curse revenge for making him a cripple - it is just another part of who he is.
His cane (though the shows version fills me with rage but-) is an extension of Kaz - he fights with it, but it has a purpose. Another common thing in media is for canes to be simply accessories, but while Kaz’ cane is fashionable, it has purpose.
The quote “There was no part of him that was not broken, that had not healed wrong and there was no part of him that was not stronger for having been broken.” is so fucking powerful. Kaz does not want nor need a cure - its said in Crooked Kingdom that his leg could most likely be healed, but he chooses not to. Abled-bodied people tend to dismiss this thought as Kaz being stubborn but it shows a reality of acceptance of his disability that is just, so refreshing.
In chapter 22 of SOC, we see disabled rage done right - when he is called a cripple by the Fjerdan inmate, Kaz is pissed - the important detail being that he is pissed at the Fjerdan, at society for ableism, not blaming it on being disabled or wishing he could be normal. He takes action, dislocating the asshole’s shoulder and proving to him, and to a lesser extent, himself, that he is just as capable as anyone else, not in spite of, but because he is disabled. And that is the point of Kaz, harking back to the line that “there was no part of him that was not stronger for having been broken”.
I cried on numerous occasions while reading the SOC duology, but the parts I highlighted in this section especially so. I, as many other disabled people do, have had a long and tumultuous relationship with our disability/es, and for many still struggle. But Kaz Brekker gave me an empowered disabled character who accepts themselves, and that means the world to me.
Keeping that in mind, I hope you can understand why it hurts so much to disabled people when you either erase Kaz’s disability (whether through cosplay or fanfiction), or portray him as a “broken boy uwu”, especially implying that he would want a cure. That flies in the face of canon and is inherently fucking ableist. (if u think im mad wait until the next section)
Next, we have Wylan.
Oh fucking boy.
I love Wylan so fucking much, and y’all just do not seem to understand his character? Like at all? Since this is disability-centric, I’m not going to discuss how the intersection of his queerness also contributes to these issues, but trust me when I say it’s a contributing factor to what i'm going to say.
Wylan, motherfucking Van Eck. If you ableist pricks don’t take ur fucking hands off him right now im going to fight you. I see Wylan as a subversion another, and in my opinion more insidious stereotype pf disabled people - inspiration porn.
Cara Liebowitz in a 2015 article on the blog The Body Is Not An Apology explains in greater detail how inspiration porn is impactful in real life, but media is a major contributing factor to this reality. The technical definition is “the portrayal of people with disabilities as inspirational solely or in part on the basis of their disability” - but that does not cover it fully.
Inspiration porn does lasting damage on the disabled community as it implies that disability is a negative that you need to “overcome” or “triumph” instead of something one can feel proud of. It exploits disabled people for the development of non-disabled people, and in media often the white male protagonist. Framing disability as inherently negative perpetuates ideals of eugenics and cures - see Autism $peaks’ “I Am Autism” ad. Inspiration porn is also incredibly patronizing as it implies that we cannot take care of ourselves, or do things like non-disabled people do. Because i stg some of you tend to think that we just sit around all day wishing we weren’t disabled.
Another important theory ideal that is necessary when thinking about Wylan is the experience of feeling like a burden simply for needing help or accommodations. This is especially true when it comes to familial relationships, and internalized ableism.
The rhetoric that Wylan’s father drilled into his head, that he is “defective”, “a mistake”, and “needs to be corrected”, that he (Jan) was “cursed with a moron for a child” is a long held belief that disabled people hear relentlessly. And while many see Van Eck’s attempted murder of Wylan as “preposturous” and overall something that you would never think happens today - filicide (a parent murdering their child) is more common than you would like to believe. Without even mentioning the countless and often unreported deaths of disabled people due to lack of / insufficient / neglectful medical care, in a study on children who died from the result of household abuse, 40 of 42 of them (95%) were diagnosed with disabilities. Van Eck is not some caricature of ableist ideals - he is a real reflection on how many people and family members view disability.
Circling back to how Wylan unpacks the inspiration porn trope - he is 3 dimensional, he is not only used to develop the other characters, he is just *chefs kiss* Leigh, imo, put so much love and care into the creation of Wylan and his story and character growth that is representative of a larger feeling in the disabled community.
That being said, what you non-disabled motherfuckers have done to him.
The “haha Wylan can’t read” jokes aren’t and were not funny. Y’all literally boiled down everything Wylan is to him being dyslexic. And it’s like,,,, the only thing you can say about him. You ignore every other part of him other than his disability, and then mock him for it. There’s so much you can say about Wylan - simping for Jesper, being band kid and playing the fuckin flute, literally anything else. But no, you just chose to mock his disability, excellent fucking job!
Next up on “ableds stfu” - infantilization! y’all are so fucking condescending to Wylan, and treat him like a fucking toddler. And while partly it is due to his sexuality i think a larger portion is him being disabled. Its in the same vein of people who think that Wylan and Jesper are romantically one sided, and that Jesper only kind of liked Wylan, despite the canon evidence of him loving Wylan just as much. You all view him as a “smol bean”, who needs protecting, and care, when Wylan is the opposite of that. He is a fucking demolitions expert who suggested waking up sleeping men to kill them - what about that says “uwu”. You are treating Wylan as a burden to Jesper and the other Crows when he is an immensely valuable, fully autonomous disabled person - you all just view him as damaged.
And before I get a comment saying that “uhhh Wylan isn’t real why do you care” while Wylan may not be real, how you all view him and treat him has real fucking impacts and informs how you treat people like me. If someone called me an “uwu baby boy” they’d get a fist square in the fucking jaw. Fiction informs how we perceive the world and y’all are making it super fucking clear how you see disabled people.
Finally, I wanted to talk about how the social model of disability is portrayed through Wylan. For those who are unaware, the social model of disability contrasts the medical model, that views the disability itself as the problem, that needs to be cured, whereas the social model essentially boils down to creating an accommodating society, where disability acceptance and pride is the goal. And we see this with Wylan - he is able to manage his father’s estate, with Jesper’s assistance to help him read documents. And this is not out of pity or charity, but an act of love. It is not portrayed as this almighty act for Jesper to play saviour, just a given, which is incredibly important to show, especially for someone who has been abused by family for his disability like Wylan, that he is accepted.
Yet, I still see people hold up Jesper on a pedestal for “putting up with” Wylan, as if loving a disabled person deserves a fucking pat on the back. It’s genuinely exhausting trying to engage with a work I love so much with a fandom that thinks so little of me and my community. It fucking shows.
Overall, Leigh Bardugo as a disabled person wrote two incredibly meticulous and empowered disabled characters, and due to either lack of reading comprehension, ableism, or a quirky mix of both, the fandom has ignored canon and the experiences of disabled people for…. shits and giggles i guess. And yes, there are issues with the Grishaverse and disability representation - while I haven’t finished them yet so I do not have an opinion on it, people have been discussing issues in the KOS duology with ableist ideals. This mini series was no way indicative of the entire disabled experience, nor does it represent my entire view on the representation as a whole. These things need to be met critically in our community, and talked about with disabled voices at the forefront. For example, the limited perspective we get of Wylan and Kaz being both white men, does not account for a large portion of the disabled community and the intersection of multiple identities.
All-in-all, Critique media, but do not forget to also critique fandom spaces. Alternatively, just shut the fuck up :)
happy fucking disability pride month, ig

"so, now that it seems that some of the worst of everything in regards to rooster teeth has come to light, what are you, tumblr user monarchisms, the user previously known as kingpattillo, gonna do next?": the post
[under a readmore because it's stupidly long]
so fucking much has happened over the past week, so i'm just typing all of this up to figure out what to do in future, both so that people who follow me are in the loop, and that i can help myself get some shit together. almost every day has been one gut punch after another, so i definitely won't get everything in one go, and can surely edit this if/when i change my mind on a couple of things, with some exceptions.
for now:
"do you still want to watch/listen to/make fan content for rt in general?" Oh Dear God No. i don't want the company to crash and burn, only because i want the people currently still there who aren't shitbags to get all the support they need and deserve, emotional support or otherwise. however, because of a series of totally avoidable errors made by the company, i don't feel bad about letting my first subscription end. whether i just cancel it immediately, or i let it lapse, i'm not sure yet, but yeah, after i get charged for this month, i'm not going to pay for my subscription anymore.
"does that also include achievement hunter?" kinda?????????? that's more complicated to me. monetarily, i won't support them because they're still under rooster teeth, so i won't keep my subscription for specifically them. i'd totally throw them some money if they're able to pull a drawfee and break from the company they were formed under and go independent, and i totally am not mad at other people if they keep the subscriptions specifically for AH. again, it's all complicated. even with everything involving them as a group, i'm still rooting for them. "any reasons why?" many, actually, but here's what it boils down to.
i feel like even with all the stumbles, AH has had better progress collectively since... i'd say since geoff stepped down, if not earlier than that, than rt has had in their almost 2 decades of existing. i don't have a concrete year for AH i can point to for where i feel like progress has really started rolling. i'm just going off of Vibes alone lol. what makes me still have hope in them includes (but is not limited to, since there's a lot of stuff i could have missed) all the twitlongers from the post team, as well as this tweet from jack:
Tumblr media
and this tweet from fiona:
Tumblr media
(honestly, their whole thread is very good, and i agree with their takes wholeheartedly)
almost every problem i had with AH has been covered in this 4 am vent post i made on the 17th, and the problems i still have actually seem to be on the mend. props to the individuals currently at AH who put in the effort to improve, not just collectively as achievement hunter, but also as their individuals selves. which brings me to my next point:
"what about geoff?"
this hurts to type, but fuck him! the lowest points (in my opinion) of AH were in what many (used to?) perceive as their golden age, approximately the years of 2012 to 2015 or so, all of which were under the time geoff was the AH bossman. if he wasn't the perpetrator of the toxic behavior of his main employees at the time, he was complicit in it for reasons i certainly won't/can't pinpoint because i don't know him personally. though, another tweet from fiona gives me at least one idea:
Tumblr media
alongside all of that, there's the direct reply from kdin under geoff 's twitter apology that also makes me 🤨 at him, as well as as all of this from the woman who geoff mentioned in that one reddit post he made in 2020, (edit 10/22/22: and also the fact that his public twitter likes showed that his apology was disingenuous to begin with 🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴), but everyone knows about all of that. if you didn't, then uh... genuinely, my bad :(
oof, speaking of kdin,
"what about her?"
it's pretty easy to sum up my thoughts on her now. basically, i still believe that she shouldn't have gotten through the traumatic events she endured at rt, and should 100% be financially compensated, and i also simultaneously believe that her videos during the tatsudoshi days are downright deplorable. it's one thing to use a slur or two (Which Is Still Objectively Bad, but solely in comparison, is easier to stomach and apologize for), but it's another to go on a fully bigoted rant that attacks multiple marginalized identities, regardless of if it was over 10 years ago. No Average 19-Year-Old Wouldn't Do That Unless They Were Bigoted As Fuck. even if she is better now, that never excuses her past actions.
...also, i personally thought the part of her apology that i could actually accept or not accept was mid as fuck, and blizz perfectly pointed out why:
Tumblr media
so fuck her for those points specifically. she should still get paid fairly, though. everybody should.
"is that why you're still :/ about gavin?" precisely. the first day, i just thought kdin didn't see gavin's apology on twitter since she was getting swarmed with a billion notifications, and also just doesn't follow most of the AH crew these days. turns out her not responding to him seems more and more intentional each passing day, so whoops!
"so like, are you going to pirate the rt content you still enjoy(ed)?" Oh, Absolutely. for me specifically, i feel like the only thing i'm going to pirate with no remorse is rwby because i still want to see how the story ends. as for everything else i enjoyed pre-braggnarok:
1. with rvb, the only reason i fell out of love it was because of the lack of care given to zero. i still enjoyed that season overall, but how poorly it was treated by the higher ups killed my excitement for rvb. QvsA kinda hooked me, but considering that grif is voiced by geoff and appears in every episode, 😬
2. with the podcasts i personally listened to under rt, most of them got killed for me because gavin and/or geoff were involved (f**kface, anma, annual pass). i still want to listen to red web because trevor and alfredo are still good to me, but like AH, they're still under rt, so i still don't really feel good pirating that :(
2b. "but face jam's still cool, right?" no </3
like, genuine props to michael for actively improving himself as a person, both on and off camera, for many years now, and not excusing his own past shitty actions. i got no beef with him. however, i cannot continue to listen to face jam because of jordan. "wait, what? why?" well! jordan's own past behavior under rt animation was pretty Yikes. he was one of the people specifically called out by georden whitman (nomad of nowhere's creator) in his twitlonger. can't summarize anything here myself, so i just recommend you read the whole thing.
3. the shortest(?) reason: there's no need to pirate AH content because most of it is available for free on their youtube channels anyways. with stuff like sbi: meltdown, i'll just read the comments to see who got voted off for the remaining episodes that i won't watch. not the end of the world.
"but you still haven't answered: what are you gonna do right now?" i don't know!!!!! rt suddenly imploded bigger than usual, and i don't know where to take my art and gif-making skills next!! i'm kinda scared!!! that's where you guys come in. requests for those will be open forever (they always have been, but they're More Open Now), but currently, they not just extend to individual streamers like matt, jeremy, ray, and their friends (individual AH people included), they alsoextend to any major group or solo people i enjoy. you can feasibly see a drawfee gif from me! isn't that wild?
and finally: "how else can we support you, random internet person?"
i still don't know. i've never been in this position before!!! like, everything i've created, both related to and not related to rt/ah, will always be free forever, but like, if people just want to throw money my way to make my life a little more tolerable, i guess i have paypal????????? i dunno! i'll just have to figure all of that out as i go.
okay, bye again lol

An Abundance of Katherines Book Review
★★★☆☆ ~ 3 out of 5 stars
Like most tweens and teens in 2012, I read The Fault in Our Stars and loved it. It was always my intention to go back and read more of John Green’s books in the future, which I only managed with a little success over the past decade, despite coming across John Green himself everywhere - at school via Crash Course, on TikTok and Instagram where he posts funny personal videos, and here on Tumblr, where he has long been the butt of a rather vicious bullying ‘joke.’ After running across him online once again at the end of 2022, I resolved that in the new year, I was finally going to get back to that goal and read more of his work.
Enter An Abundance of Katherines, a book I had long been intrigued about from its title alone. What did that mean? I knew from skimming a synopsis that it had something to do with a teenage boy who only dated girls named Katherine - nineteen of them, to be exact - but otherwise, I had little concept of what was going to happen in this book.
To give a more comprehensive summary, An Abundance of Katherines is about a former child prodigy named Colin Singleton, who worries that he doesn’t have what it takes to be a true genius and that he will never find love after Katherine XIX dumps him. Colin and his best friend, Hassan, take a roadtrip to a small town in Tennessee where they meet a girl their age, Lindsey Lee Wells, and her mother, Hollis, who offers the boys a summer job interviewing locals about their lives. In the downtime between navigating this new job, town, and burgeoning friendship with Lindsey, Colin is trying to figure out a theorem that perfectly predicts the trajectory of any relationship - how long it will last and who will dump who. This last part means there was more math in this book than I’d hoped for, though, as Green points out in the footnotes at one point, not more than absolutely necessary.
An Abundance of Katherines was written in 2008, and in some ways, it feels like a product of its time (most glaringly through Lindsey’s sporadic use of the r-slur). In other ways, it feels defiant of this time, though: Hassan is a Muslim who speaks Arabic regularly throughout the book, and Colin notes how his theorem will work for gay couples. This tension of succumbing and overcoming its time are a great microcosm of the messiness that it is deeply entrenched in every layer of the novel - from the clash of Chicago-natives Colin and Hassan with the small town folks of Gutshot, Tennessee, to Colin’s obsession with being a genius against Hassan’s satisfaction with not doing much of anything, there are a lot of differing ideas rubbing shoulders in this book.
Overall, this works well for An Abundance of Katherines. It is messy in a realistic way; the characters are far from perfect, but they’re not the worst people in the world. This is something I particularly enjoy about Green’s writing - he has an amazing ability to humanize his characters. There were points throughout the book where I thought each member of the main cast was being annoying or irritating, but this was not so pervasive that it kept me from rooting for them and ultimately wishing them a happy ending.
I must confess, though, that while I found this messiness interesting, I found most of the book ultimately boring. Not bore-me-to-sleep boring and not I-can’t-finish-this boring, but it just did not feel like much happened. Its problems, at times, can be a little too mundane - interpersonal teen drama and the threat that a financial crisis can pose to a small town. That is not to say these aren’t important issues to cover, just that they are not the most exciting things in the world to read on their own. And personally, I find advanced math to be a bit boring, so when it was necessary to read about the theorem and how it functions, I found myself yawning.
Additionally, though I like footnotes in fictional texts (House of Leaves rights), and generally appreciated the layer that An Abundance of Katherines’ footnotes added to the narrative (as these footnotes competing with the main text for attention also adds to that nice messiness I mentioned), I did not like them in a digital format. If you give this book a read, I highly recommend picking up a physical copy, unless you want to keep clicking back and forth between the page you’re on and the accompanying footnotes. I understand this is not a fault of the text itself as much as the medium in which I chose to read it, but it compounded my boredom with a certain tediousness that made most of this book a slog for me.
Ultimately, this book was a solid 3 out of 5 stars for me. It was fine. Not the worst, not the best. I really don’t have much else to say about it. Read it if you like. I think it makes for fine leisure reading. But don’t expect anything terribly exciting or revelatory.

Thoughts after Love in the Air episode 5 (mostly critical, some extended musing):
Is there a plot to this? I couldn't really describe the plot if asked.
I think one of the problems I'm having with this is that so far Payu seems like a very static character. He's not given any arc, no character growth, no goal other than to win over Rain, which happened so early it doesn't make up a storyline of it's own. There are two (?) episodes to their section left, so that could change, but so far, he's just... static. All of the growth and change is happening to Rain. This isn't about "fairness," it's just that it makes a boring story for me when one of the main characters doesn't get to go anywhere. And it ends up meaning that Payu as a character lacks depth. We don't see him struggle in any way - he wants Rain, and then he has him. But Rain does all the work to get gotten.
This was the same problem I had with Kurosawa in Cherry Magic, which honestly kind of ruined that show from me. (Maybe someday I will write down the essay in my head about how much that show bothered me, despite all it's strengths.) And one of the things I loved about Blueming was that it initially seemed like Da-woon was going to be this sort of static "perfect" love interest, but the end flipped that entirely around. Obviously Love In the Air could also flip this in the last two episodes, but so far it hasn't laid any groundwork for that to happen. In Blueming, the roots of Da-woon's journey were there from the beginning, just held as subtext until they exploded into conflict.
Part of my problem getting into the show is I'm just not connecting with either lead. Most of the time they feel like little kids playing dress-up. (Oddly enough, their sex scenes/kissing are one of the few places they feel believable.) I suspect it's a problem with the directing, because it seems to be an across the board thing with all the actors. With the exception of Tonnam as Sig; I wasn't joking when I said it felt like he was out-acting everyone else. It's a tiny part, and a weird character, but he feels like he's inhabiting Sig, while everyone else feels like they're acting™. It's most egregious with Rain, he makes all these exaggerated facial expressions, which, fine, but they (to me!) feel disconnected from any real emotion or reaction. I know that this exaggeration is stylistic, for comedic effect, but I think in good comedy the exaggeration is rooted in real feelings, and here it just doesn't feel that way.
[I think a lot of the blame could be placed on the script -- it seems like it want to create all these moments for specific emotions and reactions, but it doesn't give real reasons for these reactions, so it seems like the characters are just making weird faces out of the blue. -in yellow because I have even less textual support at hand for this vague statement than I do the rest, but i'm leaving it here because it's still what my heart believes.]
As for Payu - I just cannot take him seriously as aggressive and dominant. He just looks like a little puppy barking. The actor has such a baby face, that looks even more baby when he's trying to be a dom. Interestingly, when he's being sweet and tender, his acting does work for me. I think it's because when his attention is on Rain, he's focused on reacting and connecting, and it comes across as real rather than acting™. That's probably also why both of the actors' acting in the sex scenes works better for me - there too they are focused on connection and reaction.
Honestly, I would love to see Payu's actor in more of a uke role, I suspect it may suit him better. I did really enjoy his singing! (I see that many of you didn't.) But I liked his voice a lot, and I actually mostly liked the way they set that scene up. (Although it does feel like Payu and Saifah live in a coffee shop - what even is their kitchen?!)
I see a lot of love for both actors here on Tumblr, so obviously this is not a universal response! Perhaps I'm just too old to find these baby-faced boys sexually attractive, not kinky enough to connect with either character, and don't have the right sense of humor to enjoy the comedic exaggerations.
Anyway, I thought I had more to say, but I can't remember it right now and I have to be somewhere soon. So I'm just going to post this with minimal editing and cross my fingers that it's reasonably coherent, there aren't too many typos, and I made no slanderously false statements.
