:) I think some of you guys are gonna like this one.

You'd been afraid working with Chilchuck would be difficult, if not impossible, but you soon settled into an easy rhythm with him. With the both of you working together, you could cover more ground. Soon you worked out an almost code to signal to each other, quiet warnings and quick clicks of the tongue. 

The traps were sporadic and sometimes difficult to find and prepare for. Sometimes they were triggered by movement, sometimes by pressure. You weren't sure if you would have been able to get through them all alone. 

The labyrinth changed around you as you moved, doors clicking into place or disappearing. Soon you'd been unwillingly shunted off what you'd thought was the main corridor into who knows where. 

Eventually you came to a dead end. Chilchuck huffed in exasperation. "Damnit I'll have to either find some way through this or we'll need to backtrack, which would lose us a lot of time."

"Well if it's going to be a minute until we can move on we might as well stop for a meal now." Senshi said cheerfully. 

He stopped and made a move to unpack. You held up a hand. "hold on! Let me check this area for traps." 

You quickly combed the area. Surprisingly, it was completely clean for about ten feet away from the dead end. Definitely enough to set up a quick camp site. 

Once finished, Senshi began happily unpacking and then slicing up the walking mushroom. You joined Chilchuck in poking around the walls for hidden passageways. 

"There's no traps right around here. Not for another ten feet back" You said. 

"Yup, that's why I'm thinking it's not actually a dead end. Something's gotta move"

You nodded, and continued combing over the wall, poking and prodding at the bricks. 

"That was a really dumb thing you did back there."

You glanced up, affronted. Did you somehow miss a trap? "What? What did I do?"

"You know what I mean!" Chilchuck quietly hissed. "Tackling Izutzumi! There was a solid chance that wouldn't have worked and you haven't built up nearly enough body mass for resurrection to work again! We could have resurrected Izutzumi, I don't know if we could have resurrected you. It's not our job to put ourselves in danger unnecessarily! It's not brave, it's just stupid." 

You bristled and hissed back. "It wasn't like I planned that! I saw someone in danger and reacted. If I'd stopped to make a thought out plan Izutzumi would have died, and I don't know if you noticed but she's not exactly over abundant in body mass herself."

"Yes but she has more than you do! We *have* to keep expectations consistent across all halffoot workers, that's how this works and how the union continues to function. Yeah maybe you're okay with putting your life at risk for a stupid fucking reason but no halffoot should be forced into that!" 

"I'm not part of the union." You shot back. Out of the corner of your eye you saw Izutzumi watching you with a bored expression. Ah. Cat ears.

You switched seamlessly into your native tongue, your voice rising a bit from anger. "When I went into the dungeon there were no regulations and you had to do whatever it took to prove you deserved to be here! Yeah we're both halffoots, but you're a man and you're tall for a halffoot, do you have any idea what it's like to be a tiny halffoot *woman* trying to get people to take her seriously? I learned how to fight and how to do stuff like that out of *necessity* because otherwise I would have been dropped by the wayside! And I don't have a contract with this party, and it might be nice to have another trap guy but they don't actually *need* me, and I'm telling you right now I will NOT be left behind and I WILL do WHATEVER it takes to be a part of this party. I don't give a shit about your fucking union. Let me take my own risks and stop treating me like a goddamn child, I have enough of that from the other races." 

You were half yelling by the end of that and your face was flushed and hot.  How dare he try and sit there and talk you through how halffoots were exploited like you hadn't gone through it too? Preaching on his fucking high horse. 

Chilchuck scowled, but he looked just slightly taken aback. He'd glanced at Izutzumi when you did and probably had picked up what you had, because he answered in the same language. "You don't have... Fuck you're right. I can probably negotiate one for you, you really don't have to do stuff like that just to be in this party. Why does it even matter to you so much? You don't need to stay here, you don't need to be doing this, we can just send you back. Marcilles all shy about it but they can learn the home spell from their book I bet. She picks stuff up real fast." 

You grit your teeth and pointed an accusatory finger at him. "Tell me. ONE. personal fact. About yourself." 

He blinked, mouth hanging open before he snapped it shut. "What?" 

"I've heard Marcille referencing her school, Laois talks about his sister and a bit about his village, Senshi won't shut up about the stuff he's into, and Izutzumi is Izutzumi, but YOU don't share SHIT. so if you want ME to start sharing you better fucking open up too buddy."

"I- that's not- what- I keep my personal and professional life very separate!"

You grinned. "Then don't expect me to be any different." 

Chilchuck opened his mouth to retort, before shutting it again. Then he shrugged. "Yeah that's fair, keep your reasons to yourself, I'll negotiate you a contract anyway, just forms sake." 

You put your hand down, the wind a bit let out of your sails. You hadn't expected him to back down so easy and you felt oddly...disappointed. it'd been a bit since you'd had a really good knock down drag out argument. 

"Food is ready!" Senshi said "Come and eat while it's hot!"

Anon I love you so much because you have no idea how much I ask this to myself on a regular basis. A couple weeks ago I was walking to work whilst brainstorming Jeremy Knox music headcanons and almost died to the tune of Believe by Cher while crossing the street. (Embarrassing, but also, what a way to go)

after changing my mind about 700 times, I decided that Jeremy, at least on a surface level, will dance/sing to literally any popular song with a good beat, (whether or not he actually sings the right lyrics is always 50/50) but he does love to sing. This comes from a tumblr post I saw like years ago saying that Jean takes a video of Jeremy singing Kylie Minogue’s “Your Disco Needs You” at 3am, and now that’s just canon Jeremy to me.

Jeremy was a kid in the 90s so TONS of 90s nostalgia stuff, all upbeat. Song 2, All star, What is love, Baby one more time, Tubthumping, all the catchy earworms he would hear on the radio and belt out as a kid. (It’s @kevinsdsy’s fault song 2 was the first on this list. The Jeremy Knox blur brainrot is real)

Jeremy, having heard these songs as a kid, knows all the lyrics just by memory. Even he doesn’t know about this until Cat plays Ricky Martin on her boombox and all of a sudden Jer is on the table with a solo cup microphone.

(“isn’t he only attracted to men?”Jean whispers to Cat as they watch Jeremy belt out ‘She Bangs’ in the most enthusiastic way possible.

“Honestly, l didn’t even think about that. I’m just pissed that they’re only playing the English version”, Cat whispers back)

Jeremy is also notorious for dancing to other team’s entrance songs when they walk on the court. The Breckenridge Jackals, for example, walk on court to Who Let the Dogs out, and Jer unironically uses that as pump up music. He aggressively nods his head to the beat of Let’s Get it Started when Penn State walks out. This leads to many (many) YouTube compilations titled something along the lines of “10 mins straight of Jeremy Knox shaking ass to his opponent’s anthems”

BUT also, privately, on his little 2006 iPod Mini (lol remember those), Jeremy listens to more alt rock (modern-day dad rock), like Muse, The Killers, Queens of The Stone Age etc… (this is based on a lighter version of the style of music Nora assigned to Andreil in the EC, and also my personal taste from that time period). I think it’s what he listens to on bad days, either bc he needs to drown out his depressing thoughts after seeing his family, or bc he isn’t quite mentally ready to fully process the insane truths Jean reveals on a day to day basis. Also days where he’s feeling more in-tune with his emotions and stuff.

anyway, I’m sorry, this got really long. I guess the tl;dr would be: imo, In TSC Jeremy loves to sing and dance to literally any popular 90s/early 00’s song bc that’s just who he is but privately on bad days he likes 2000’s alt rock.

Not criticizing, not big on floweroutofstone myself, but Tumblr's culture is heavily "if you can't say something nice," even about movies or music in tags where fans will see it. Complaints about an actual person are expected to be reserved for when they're a serious problem, like they're just out-and-out abusive and bigoted, So casual complaints about a user being just weird or annoying are rare and can read as excessively petty, in large part due to the ease with which we can just ignore any user we want and move on, I think. Some people's politics can also be bad without being malicious, like they can just be kind of dumb but their heart can be in the right place, so you may as well just block them/hope they eventually wise up rather than kick the hornets nest

Yeah I didn’t read this shit we’re actually gonna talk about a few of my problems with the new Gears of War games, post-Epic development. One, I think no one really knew what to do after 3 killed off the Locust, this Swarm stuff is like fine and all but it really is just Locust Horde 2 with less characterization and less menace because of that (the bit where the Theron Guards whisper “hostiles” in the most evil sounding voice ever in Gears 1 is a great bit of like show don’t tell, they’re clearly intelligent but still inhuman), it just seems like no one expected Gears to keep going so no one planned any story arc. I think 5 was a noble attempt at trying to do a lower key, more character driven narrative, it doesn’t fully work but it’s still great, but even then it shares my other major gripe with New Gears: the New COG. I actually really like the explicitly fascist ideology they have in 4 (the maternity facility with big signs of perfect white families, Jinn literally talking about defending the family unit in her speech, it’s a good expansion of the COG just being referred to as fascist previously), I think it’s good the games have become more explicit with the COG’s myriad issues. What I don’t like is the whole high tech robot thing. We’re 25 years out from literally the entire planet being nuked (from when the COG went scorched earth and incinerated all human population centers save Tyrus, and then again with the Lambent crisis), I just do not buy that the COG has become a heavily industrialized, heavily roboticized nation. Plus, aesthetically, the clean high tech look just does not fit Gears at all. Even New Hope was kind of archaic and chunky looking. Gears should be chunky. And don’t even get me started on the change in character aesthetic, why even make Gears games if you’re gonna have these milquetoast mildly muscular losers. It’s crazy in 4 when you go to Marcus’ house and he’s so much fuckin bigger than anyone else, don’t sand off the edges to make the games more mainstream.

Birthday Surprise! [Oc x Nanami Kento Fic]

[It's Nanami's birthday today and he hasn't gotten any greeting from anyone. Expecting everyone had forgotten about it but is immediately proven wrong when his classmates and his seniors plan something for his special day.]

Today was Nanami's birthday and everyone has been acting strange. Mostly his own classmates, who’ve been trying to shorten any kind of interaction with him all day.

But it's not like he was bothered by it, was he? It was his birthday yet nobody greeted him at least once. Call him edgy but he somewhat expected this.

It was unusually quiet down the corridors Nanami was walking down on. The classrooms were mostly empty, not like they were full anyway. Usually he'd hear the voices of his own classmates and the second years after training, hanging out in classrooms and laughing loudly. But today, that doesn't seem to be the case.

He spots one classroom, with the door slid open. One of his classmates sat there on one of the desks ‘Imamura Sera’. Her senses were sharp, she immediately flicked her head towards him. A smile curling on her lips, eyes glistening. “Nanamin!” She calls out, waving her hand. A nickname she had recently discovered, loving the effect it has on Nanami. He almost lets out a heavy sigh, wanting to voice out his displeasure towards that nickname but for some reason he doesn't. “Imamura-san.” He calls out, striding towards her desk noticing some pieces of paper scattered, watching Sera immediately organize them into a pile. “What's that for?” He asks, almost curious.

“Homework” She muses “Can you let me copy yours?” Almost immediately Nanami recoils. “I didn't even know there was homework.” He replies shortly, his brows furrowed. “And what makes you think I'd let you copy off mine.” He adds, a small huff leaving his lips as he stared down at her almost pitiful expression.

“You say that but you always do anyway~” She hums, waving a hand at him dismissively. Nanami can only narrow his eyes at her. “You're hopeless.”

Sera just nods along to whatever he was saying to her, evidently not even paying attention to whatever he has to say. Feeling a buzz in her pocket she takes out her phone. *The signal.* Sera immediately grins and looks up to Nanami, leaving him more confused by the change of her demeanor. “Hey Nanamin,” She starts “Isn’t it your birthday today? It's July 3rd right?” She asks pretending to be clueless of his birthday, Of course she knows when his birthday is. Sera watches his eyes widen for a split second, he immediately lets out a scoff trying to keep his composure. “You remembered?”

“I didn't, but now because you told me. Now I know when's your birthday.” She explains, grinning from ear to ear, Nanami who inwardly rolls his eyes at her, wanting to point out how she was a terrible liar. Before he could even say anything about it, Sera stands from her seat with some newfound enthusiasm. “But anyway we should leave this dingy classroom and celebrate!” She hooks up her arm with his and Nanami stumbles lightly, almost taken aback. Looking down at their linked arms, defeated, he just accepts the fact she had his arm hooked with his, a sigh escaping his lips. “Celebrate?” Sera nods. “What's a celebration without a little surprise?”

While she was close to him like this, she took a long piece of fabric from her pocket and tied it around his eyes. “Don’t take it off and don’t worry I’ll guide you.” She quickly says before dragging him with his arm. “Hey!-” He exclaimed as he was dragged out of the classroom, trying to wrangle his arm out of her grip but even he couldn't do that. He lets out another sigh. “Where are you taking me exactly?” She doesn’t answer his question, leaving Nanami to further indulge into his own curiosity and confusion. A couple minutes of walking he decided to ask her again but was silenced almost immediately with a ‘shh!’.

He grumbles quietly to himself as he was silenced, his patience wearing thin as she continues to drag him around without saying a word. Even more so when he couldn’t see a thing with the blindfold she tied over his eyes. Nanami was walking blindly with Sera being his only support, feeling her arms on his feels a bit…

THUD!

Sera has suddenly stopped in her steps and Nanami didn’t even notice. Taking a few steps more than her, causing him to hit his face on what he assumes to be a wall. He could practically feel her gaze on him as he winced, his pride slightly wounded at the embarrassing display. He can hear the stifling laughter at his side, feeling his face beginning to flush.. “Sorry-” She manages to say, her voice shaking slightly. “D-don’t laugh, I can hear you trying to hold off your laugh.” His voice stutters slightly, but he manages to keep his monotonous voice.

“I said I’m sorry.” Nanami swears that Sera rolled her eyes at him while she said it. “Also be careful, follow me closely if you don’t want to bang your head again.” She huffs, this time she has a firmer grip on his arm. He listened in to her instructions and followed closely, hearing a door being slid open and then briefly closing after he took a few steps.

“Now, don’t move! Don’t remove your blindfold until I say so.”

So he stood there, rather awkwardly. He can feel some presence around him through cursed energy, but he remains still. Assuming that there were a lot of people there, he finds himself questioning what they were doing here? He can hear some whispering and shuffling here and there but he couldn’t recognize the voices.

“Okay, you can remove them now!” Sera calls out, her voice seemed to be a little far assuming she was standing on the other side of the room. A small breath of relief and some suspense as he takes off his blindfold…

*”Happy Birthday Nanami!”*

His eyes widened in surprise to the sight that greeted him. Sera and Haibara, his classmates and also their seniors are here too? Just how much did she and Haibara bribed those three to come along and participate in this surprise party? Confetti falls around him as he looks around, a banner spelling out his name and birthdate in poor calligraphy, but he could tell they put in some effort to make it look decent with some small decorations. In front of him was Haibara, holding up a cake. It was a strawberry shortcake decorated with sliced strawberries on top and white frosting. Lit candles in the shape of ‘7 and 3’ are also on top of it.

Sera stood to the side, a party popper in hand. Smiling like as if she didn’t spend all night trying to perfect that cake, to which she took at least three tries to perfect. “Well what are you waiting for? Blow the candle!” Gojo calls out, obviously already out for the food. “Don’t rush him, Satoru. Geto chimes in “He might still be making a wish.” A small grin on his face as his hand rests on Gojo’s shoulder. “Don’t mind them, Nanami-kun.” Shoko waves off, a lazy smile grazing her features. His eyes looked over to Haibara who was in front of him still holding the cake. “Just take your time.” He reminds Nanami.

He looks down on the cake, slowly closing his eyes with his wish in mind before promptly blowing off the flames on the candles seconds later.

Haibara smiled brightly as he raised up the cake. “Alright! Let’s go eat!” He exclaims as he rushes to a table where paper plates are set, giving each and everyone their own slice of the cake.

“That took you really long, I wonder what kind of wish you made.” Sera stunters over to his side, with a party hat and a sash behind her back.He looks over to Sera, a hint of embarrassment in his eyes. “I am not telling you.”

Sera shrugs “Obviously, otherwise it won’t come true.” She muses, while everyone is busy digging into the food prepared. Sera made Nanami wear the party hat and birthday sash, to which he reluctantly obliged. Glancing down at her as he questioned why he was even wearing this.

Of course, Sera wouldn’t pass up the opportunity to snap a few photos of him. Only stopping once Nanami got tired or embarrassed of it.

Seeing Sera holding a plate of cake in her hand Setting it down on a desk before briefly snatching his own plate, she sits down. She gestures to the other sitting from across the desk, wanting him to sit there. He gave her an unamused stare before sitting down himself.

“What are you doing now?” Nanami asks, arms crossed on his chest. Sera could almost chuckle at the adorable sight, she picks up a fork. “I wanted to do something special for you.” She dug the fork on the slice of cake, taking a bit of it.

She happily raises it to his lips “Don’t you want to taste what I’ve made?” She asks, her head tilting to the side.

Nanami looked at the fork she had brought up to his lips, tilting his head a little in mild confusion.I mean he didn’t mind playing into her antics, he held his gaze on her for a few moments his cheeks dusted in a light pink color before opening his mouth and taking a bite of the cake from his slice. The taste of strawberry and cream exploded in his mouth, making him hum in appreciation of the taste.

“Judging from your reaction, you like the taste?” She hums in amusement, resting her cheek on the back of her hand as she digs the fork into the cake. This time taking a larger chunk of the cream and slice of strawberry, Nanami didn’t even hesitate to take that second bite. Watching him eat what she made for him and clearly enjoying it, brings some kind of different satisfaction to Sera compared to watching other people eat her food. Almost admiring the way he enjoyed it. “But I want to hear what you think.” She places the fork down on the plate, awaiting his feedback.

He relishes the sweetness of the cake, it was fluffy and the sweetness was balanced. The way it was moist but wasn't too soggy and also managed to feel fluffy in the mouth. Overall he thinks it’s absolutely perfect and well-balanced. He swallowed firstly before nodding. “It’s good..” He mumbles, a small smile curls on his lips.

Sera was a bit stunned, even dazed at his reaction. How could someone look so cute when enjoying food? Her hand instinctively reached out to him, noticing how there was some cream left on the side of his lips.She already had her fingertips resting on his chin, her thumb lighty grazing the side of his bottom lip wiping away the chunk of frosting.

“Excuse me, let me get that for you.”

She says softly, before retrieving her hand from him and casually bringing her thumb close to her lips. Licking the cream off of it, eyes immediately lighting up. “You’re right! It does taste good.” She smiles to herself. While on the other hand Nanami sat there, trying to remain stoic as ever while his face was flushed entirely red. Cursing himself inwardly as he brings a hand to his face.

Sera notices this and only laughs at his reaction, teasing him further with swiping some cream on her finger threatening to wipe it on his face.

“Come on! Just one time!”

“I am not letting you wipe that on my face!”

Good God I am so happy that tumblr implemented the “missing a community label” feature instead of me having to constantly go to my settings and block certain tags. I don’t like reporting explicit material on tumblr (which I don’t do btw unless it’s a p0rnbot) because it’s your blog, do whatever makes your weird little heart happy and all that but dear God it is annoying when someone posts explicit fics with “joel miller x reader” or “pedro pascal smut” in the main tlou tag and they don’t do anything to censor it for people who don’t want to see it.

So yeah let this be a PSA to the ones who write sexually explicit “character x reader” or fics that feature real life people here on tumblr: for the love of God please PLEASE mark it as mature or at the very least add a cut to your post. AND. TAG. APPROPRIATELY. It is so annoying to have to scroll past and just hope I don’t skim over something I didn’t want to see in the first place.

I do like Raverne though, I think it's got a nice fancy sound to it! (I had kinda suspected it was going to be an R instead of an L, so the fact that it's SO close to Laverne except for that is hilarious to me personally.) and Dragoneye Duke is honestly probably the best translation for his title, I wasn't envying the localizers that one. :') Baur instead of Baul I was NOT expecting, but in retrospect I think his name's supposed to be a reference to the Bauru crocodile, so that actually makes way more sense!

someone else also said Meleanor has become Maleanor, which is the REALLY weird one to me, because I was so surprised it was written as Mel instead of Mal in the first place?! oh god no I can't decide which one I like better. 😭 (I wonder if they might change it to Mal...they have made romanization changes before) (like I remember House of Distraction being corrected to House of Destruction in Playful Land) (I did check and she's still Mel for now, but I dunno, they might Mal her up and some point and save me from having to make a decision about which one to use) (HECK I CAN'T DECIDE)

If this has compelled you to subscribe to her, follow her, and support her, then stay for her and not for her hurt. Watch her streams, engage with her. Be normal. Don’t ask her more, even if it’s from a place of good intention. She’s more than a victim: she is an artist and businesswoman just as much as every other streamer you love. She isn’t “the streamer who was abused by xyz,” she’s shubble. Let her return be welcome and supportive, but please let her get back into the routine she wants. Normalcy is probably the thing she wants most right now, and the best we can do is help her achieve that.

Touchstarved x The Amazing Devil

Since I use a bunch of The Amazing Devil songs on my Touchstarved OC playlists, I decided to match them to each of the main LIs. They're mostly the romantic songs, I highlighted the words that made me think of the characters.

Oh no. I saw a lot of negative comments overall and while I understand where they're coming from, I think at some point, some people should calm down.

I mentioned some of the issues I had with the campaign and I stand by them, I think some of this stuff definitely felt rushed and that we're sorely lacking basic information to understand the plot. But I can get over that if it's fairly reasonable to believe we'll find out eventually (and it is) and if the rest is solid. And to me, the rest is solid.

I know people have issues with strand taking too much time from the campaign, and I get it. But also to me, strand being such a huge part of the story made the campaign feel more personal and invested for US, the Guardian. To me, that was the point. I do wish the campaign was a bit more expansive, perhaps another mission or two would've been perfect imo. An extra mission could've delved into the history of the Veil and what it means. It's a legitimate complaint that I share, but also some people online have been expressing it... rather explosively.

I'd also add a counter to my own complaint; when it comes to the plot about the Veil and the Witness and the Traveler, it's clear that this isn't the end; it's a setup. Everything that happened here we can learn about retroactively in a month or six months or a year. It may suck because it's content for THIS expansion so we want to know now, but it CAN be explained later.

But strand? Strand can't. We have to learn it NOW. We can't get strand and then have a really cool personal discovery quest about mastering it in a month or six or a year. So if they didn't have time to fit another two missions into the campaign, it's fairly obvious what is being cut.

Is it clumsy? Yeah, definitely. I definitely feel like some crucial information has been deliberately cut away and removed, possibly waiting to be delivered during the year to prepare us for The Final Shape. I'm not a fan of that method, I would prefer a solid chunk of lore about the current story to be delivered in the current story. If anything, then for clarity. Especially because the majority of the players will not be waiting around to read 15 lore tabs during the year to figure out what's the Veil. A major expansion should be self-contained.

But for the love of god, some of what I've seen online is basically some players acting like we have E.T. (1982) on our hands. Like, I agree that there's issues and I've spoken about them and I can do it again at any point, but at the end of the day, I had fun and the good stuff was good. Literally my only true complaint is that it feels like a mission or two are missing. Pretty much every problem I have would've been solved with that. But that's an unknown amount of extra time of work so I cannot make a comment whether they could've done that or not. I will assume they couldn't so they didn't. Generally don't like assuming that they did it maliciously because then we go into dev harrassment territory.
