Oh, you think that 'boycotting' is as easy as 'not buying McDonald's'.
"Boycott fatigue" what do you mean a boycott is literally where you DONT do something like how get fatigued from not buying mcdonalds
#you sweet summer child#try to boycott nestle#do it#tell me how much you have left#“but there are small local places/products...” not where im living not at the price i can afford#the fatigue is not about 'not getting McDonald's'#it's about doing that you can in a situation youre in and knowing its not enough#and still being told by the kids on the net who don't feed their families that you're at fault for not doing better#I'd be so happy if life wa so simple and black and white as it seems to be in these people's heads

So the other day, I finally built up the courage to tell my mom about how Pepsi and Coca-Cola were both on the official boycotting list and how I'd appreciate it if she avoided buying from them.
Today for Easter she was happy to tell me that all the drinks in our Easter baskets weren't anything from coke or pepsi :D!
So yeah this is ur sign that if you talk to ur family n friends about boycotting it might actually go well and they might actually listen! Even if they don't fully stop buying, they might still think ab what you said and buy less from the brands, still causing them to lose money :]
#im thinking of making a presentations of brands on the list- why they should be avoided and some good alternatives available#just to get the word out to people i care ab but make it easier for me bc im bad at talking to people ab serious shit#but yeah. very happy my mom listened to what i said :] love her#now is trying to tackle the nestle boycott but that might be one for the presentation.#mono stop talking#boycott israel#palestine#happy easter

hey followers and mutuals:
just a reminder that you can help suffering palestinians from afar. it feels hopeless, but there's always something we can do.
you can donate. i've been donating to the palestinian children's relief fund; there's also a chapter on campus at my university. there are other organizations you can donate with, too: unicef and launchgood are good ones too i think. it doesn't have to be a hundred dollars at a time; give whatever you can afford. just remember why you're giving in the first place.
you can boycott. boycott starbucks, boycott mcdonald's, boycott nestle products, coke products, unilever products...there are so many fucking companies with their hands in israel's pockets (and vice versa) right now. even better, the boycotts are working. starbuck's stocks have dropped like crazy in the past couple of weeks; the world is feeling our collective effects. boycotts work if we stick to them. go to bdsmovement.net to learn about more companies you can boycott or pressure.
you can call your representatives. call and email your representatives every single day. you can call the white house. you can tell them that you are a registered voter and that you will not be voting for any candidate who does not demand a ceasefire. tell them that you will refuse to support any elected official who accepts bribes from AIPAC (such as democrats Brian Higgins, Gregory Meeks, Joseph Morelle, and Ritchie Torres of NY and Pete Aguilar, Ami Bera, and Julia Brownley of Cali). flood those motherfuckers with messages. it does more than you think.
you can share. get on social media and find those palestinian journalists and civilians who are sharing in real time scenes from Gaza. it's gruesome and it is horrifying, but people (especially those so removed from it) need to see it to understand. western media can only spread so much propaganda; when you've seen those dying children, people crying and searching through rubble for their families, something is bound to change. go to instagram and follow motaz (@motaz_azaiza), bisan (@wizard_bisan1), plestia (@byplestia), the heroes on the ground in gaza, risking their lives. they start each new post with "i'm still alive", often worrying that they may not be for long. palestinians are begging the rest of the world to listen and to tell their story in case they don't make it. they just want to be remembered. that's the very least we can do.
you can have conversations. talk to your friends, your family. post on social media. address it directly. it will be uncomfortable. you dont have to be aggressive about it; just try to appeal to people's humanity, present them with the facts, and if you must, show them the gruesome footage from gaza or the badly veiled propaganda from israeli officials. do anything you can to get them to care. tell them how they can help. get people talking about it, even just thinking about it.
you can educate yourself. i've learned more about the history of israel and palestine in the last few days than i ever had before. and let me tell you: learning the objective facts of history makes it 200% easier to know who to support.
you can support your muslim, jewish, and arab friends. they all need it right now. check in on them and see how they're doing. let them know that you're trying to do something; even though it feels small, it will mean something to them, i promise. let them know you're there and you support them.
please please share and do whatever you can to help those suffering without food, water, electricity, or medical care right now. don't be afraid of the issue because it's "sensitive" or "controversial". it's uncomfortable to face, but it should be more uncomfortable to allow thousands to die while we do nothing.

I will never forgive liberals for tricking people into thinking that boycotting is a more effective method of protest than breaking shit. Capitalists have so many strands interconnecting them that they don’t really have to worry about whether you stop buying their shit. Imagine trying to boycott nestle, and having to stop eating or drinking damn near anything.
Companies do not acquiesce to boycotts out of necessity, they do so to earn points and draw new consumers to them who didn’t use their stuff before the boycott. To make them look like “one of the good ones”. There is no such thing.
There is no ethical consumption under capitalism. Buy whatever you want, boycotts be damned, but for the love of god please consider breaking shit. Go to protests. Get out of the house and engage in direct action. Not buying Starbucks doesn’t dissuade anyone from anything. Throwing bricks does.

Jesus Christ can we actually support each other please. If someone’s trying to boycott and is struggling don’t say shit like “well it’s all processed garbage anyway, just eat real food!!” As if poor people in food deserts can suddenly drop any and all food with any vague connection to Israel in favour of local farmers markets, which even in the best of circumstances are often overpriced and hard to get to without transportation. Literally just read a Facebook post saying nestle and Unilever (who manufacture basically 90% of any packaged foods and personal care products) are “junk/poison” anyway so “who needs them”.
Ok yeah like telling people who consume these things they’re shameful by eating junk or cancer or whatever hasn’t been tried before.
There’s people literally making note of every single company involved in Israel, economic ties or not (and slowly discovering it’s quite literally all of them!) and thinking avoiding ALL of these companies including detergent and soap, baby formula, personal care - pretty much packaged food and drinks - as examples - is a realistic goal. Certainly avoid those companies where feasible, but there’s a reason BDS boycotts are TARGETED. Starbucks is easily avoidable, avoiding any and all packaged foods within your price range is not.
“Just buy local” is a choice really only available if you’re well off and happen to have easy access to these things.
For example, saw someone say they had a friend struggling to give up Coke. The typical response was well “tell them to stop drinking liquid poison and try lemon water instead” or some similar, inane response. As if a person addicted to pop really hasn’t thought of subbing out fucking water it hasn’t been told by people they’re guzzling diabetes or whatever. In reality, there are alternate brands of pop like PC, that name pretty close no name replicas of these brand name pops.
I imagine if this person might have been helped with this information instead of shamed it might be a more effective approach. At the very least, stop telling people that they should just “stop consuming poison”. That is not a realistic approach.
Obviously, it should go without saying, it is not the job of Palestinian people to comfort westerners over their boycott issues. But for the (normally fellow white people in my experience) who make it their life goal to just shame and shout at people instead of provide realistic options, we’ve known for a long time shame is not an effective tactic and shaming poor people for not eating organic greens or whatever the fuck is classist and garbage.
If we had a sense of community we would be helping people struggling by giving them realistic alternatives and supporting them so more people can join on. Helping someone switch over to another soda brand is infinitely more effective than telling them to stop drinking poison and shaming them away.

tw leftist meme
this is more of a vent post than anything so be nice and bear with me. i was feeling down earlier so i did some writing to try to get my thoughts straight, and i wrote this.
Every time i feel down, i wonder what it that makes me feel this way. And there are many things. Is it species dysphoria? Sometimes. Is it fear of the future? fear of never living my one life the way i want to? Dread of the increasing amount of people who seemingly hate my kind? Fear for me and the people i love? Climate Anxiety? Loneliness? Yeah, sometimes. But sometimes I can't figure it out, and there is a thought in the back of my mind, and it never goes away. I try to tell myself that some days I'm just not feeling it, and thats true. But sometimes i get upset because i cant really disprove the thought. I'm scared of capitalism, and I'm scared of the way it poisons everything that i love.
When I first heard the thought, i was a social democrat, and it was easy for me to just tell myself that i was being ridiculous. but after time, the thought dawned on me, and everywhere i looked, i saw evidence.
Corporations exist to make a profit. They don't care about us being satisfied unless it's profitable to them. When they get influential enough, people begin to become dependent on them. Once this happens, they can gouge prices for more profit, as they are doing now. What will the government do? Nothing, because more often than not, they have an incentive to support the company. Perhaps the company is a donor, perhaps they are bribed, perhaps the obscene wealth makes them look good by some measurements, or perhaps they themselves are a CEO.
So, right. The government, who is allegedly supposed to take care of us, the people, isn't going to help, as it hasn't. So it's up to us, but say this company provides a vital service and is the only one who does so at any reasonable quality (Google), or has people addicted (Meta, McDonald's), or has so much variety and power that avoiding it is incredibly difficult (Disney, Nestle). If this is the case, which is is, it's very hard to boycott them.and those who advocate for change or participate in attempts to force change are mocked and taunted by bad actors and gullible folk. And by bad actors, I mean people who defend the company because they too own businesses. Landlords, local business owners, and so on. They are middle class twats who have never had to suffer the struggle of a normal person. And yet they LARP as us, calling themselves everyday hardworking folk, but actually own a business or an estate and have never had to confront the fears of tenancy, homelessness, poverty, and so on.
And i despise these people. They pretend to be us, and trivialise our struggle, saying lifes not that hard, and even call us elitists and entitled, and complain about us. And they manipulate and lie like this and act like they suffer while they collect rent from tenants after their third overseas holiday of the year.
And maybe you believe in reform. I did too. But do you ever find yourself asking 'How?' Do you ever grow weary of politicians throwing you and your movement under the bus? Or failing to fulfill their promises? Do you ever catch yourself thinking 'this is hopeless'? What do you do when you hear that, or when others tell you that? A reasonable person would take it in good faith, consider it, and try to find its flaws. And if you really knew that reform was possible, or realistic, you could explain why to yourself. I never could. I would joke around and throw insults because I couldn't argue with it, and everyone else did the same. I thought 'those stupid leftists are so foolish' and said it was ridiculous.
And thats why I caved, After all, if you cant see a way for peaceful protests and voting alone to bring change, and have watched it fail to over and over again, is it not reasonable to turn to the ideas that can give you answers, that being anarchism? The government cannot ignore a riot like it can ignore a peaceful protest. And if the government cannot and will not help us, we will have to help ourselves and each other.
And this is only a small part of it. I hate how it has ruined and weaponised science and strangled art. I hate how it destroys the environment. and i cant stand the way it does so with such self righteousness and entitlement

Hey, my lovely mutual, could you please enlighten what exactly Lando did and preferably with receipts if you don't mind so more people would be educated on this?
hello, thank you for asking nicely, i'll do my best to summarize everything. :))
so, yesterday Lando posted on his land0.mov account, and the post is a video about him walking around in Melbourne and there was a shot of him holding a Starbucks cup.
people quickly noticed and started calling him out on it, because of the ongoing boycott against Starbucks, which is happening because of the genocide of Palestinian people. people were trying to educate him and make him realize that his actions were wrong and ignorant.
some of his fans started defending him, saying that he may not be aware of the boycott, which i find highly unlikely. he's known to be chronically online, there is no way he didn't hear about it at least once. there are also protests happening worldwide, people are rallying on the streets and more and more celebs speak out, demanding an immediate and permanent ceasefire.
the other argument they brought up in his defence was that Starbucks has nothing to do with Palestine, because the boycott originally happened because the company sued their Workers Union over a post they made following October 7th (when the current genocide started) that was expressing solidarity with the Palestinian people. the law suit was filed because of copyright infringement, the Union's logo is very similar to the Starbucks logo. the company also stated that the post does not represent their views, saying they have no stance on the situation and they deleted the post shortly after, following numerous complaints against the company. if you want to you can read more about that here:
the company is not on the BDS movement's official list, but they backed up the union and Starbucks is widely accepted as one of the companies to boycott in support of Palestine. it also has ties with Nestle and Pepsico, which are two major companies on the BDS movement list. there are more important companies to boycott and you should by all means boycott them, but that does not mean you cannot boycott Starbucks too. it is one of the most widely known boycotts happening right now, because the company is extremely popular.
i will post some articles and websites that explain this situation in depth, so if you're interested you can check them out.
and here is the official BDS movement's list of the most important companies we should boycott.
i tried to keep this brief, cause i already made a lot of posts about it, so if you want to see those too, i'll link them below.

Yes yes Hershey has a transwoman rep for woman's day sure you can boycott over that that's fine and your anger is justified but they are also using child slave labor after having signed an agreement in 2020 that they would *try* to eradicate the use of child slave labor in the production of cocoa products so you could also boycott them over that as well or in addition to.
youtube
Let's also remember that child slave labor increases almost every fucking easter because these fuckers have tried to make chocolate everything synonymous with Easter when they market chocolate bunnies, chocolate eggs and small chocolates to put inside of plastic egg containers.
She said the plaintiffs also did not adequately explain the role of intermediaries in the cocoa supply chain, noting that the companies did not monitor activity in "free zones" where about 70% to 80% of the cocoa is produced. Mali and the Ivory Coast share a border in West Africa. The plaintiffs said they were trafficked as children after being approached by unfamiliar men who promised paying jobs, but were ultimately not paid for their labor, threatened with starvation if they did not work, and required to live in squalor.
Don't forget the shit Nestle did either. They also responsible for child slaves being used in the production of chocolate, have killed infants by tricking parents into using formula in areas where water wasn't available or clean enough to use, are sucking the earth dry of drinking water and forcing people to go without it resort to deadly dirty water and routinely lie about the recyclability of their products.

Cw weight talk, sickness and mention of calories.
Can anyone please drop some (gluten free) high calorie that taste better than most of the drinks? My breakfast essentials are only 200 calories. Ensure was disgusting and only had 300 calories. I’ve never had boost before but I saw it was 530 calories and everyone said it was too thick. If my sensory issues are triggered I am more likely to get sick.
I cannot eat more than the size of my hand and I do not eat sometimes because of my body just trying to keep itself alive and digestion takes energy too. I’m not getting enough calories for a toddler, let alone an adult woman. The same applies for drinks, I cannot consume one of the drinks at once since it would be too much for my stomach.
Literally anything helps as long as it’s gluten free. Also I buy carnation breakfast essentials and they come from nestle, I’m sure some of these will too. I need this, I cannot boycott nutrition supplements/food/drink.

i was telling my mom how the FDA fined Bolthouse juice drinks because the plastic in their bottles were leaking forever chemicals into the drinks so now I won't be buying them anymore (i think Coca Cola bought the juice company and that's why)
but like, I feel like a lot of people need to be more firm with their choice to boycott products
because I not only boycott McD's, Starbucks, Chick fil A, etc,
but i refuse to buy Kellogg's cereal because their CEO said that poor people should embrace having cereal for dinner (rather than greedy food retailers lowering their prices). I saw red when I saw that quote and buddy, you would not believe the depths of petty I have within me.
I quit buying Quaker Oats products due to all their continued food recalls (oatmeal and cereals)
I really try to not buy Nestle products despite their humongous portfolio
we in the US, have an ocean of choice regarding food products, and unless you're desperately poor and have no choice in what you buy (which is ok), there really are other options if you make an effort
#idk my 2 cents#but also FYI about the food recalls and Bolthouse drinks#sephie rambles#i use my petty for good

I haven’t been perusing this site to find out if someone’s already made this post but:
Uscpr.org: legitimate site that gives you the option to donate (as low as $5.00) and take action via calling congress, drafting an email urging for a ceasefire (with many details you should become familiar with) that automatically goes to your representatives, and other emails for other issues. I recommend personalizing it as well. I added further statistics, “open air prison” documentation, Rachel Corrie, etc.
Also I know my people so I’m emphasizing that you need to email your representative/s! People write them off because they’re "less important" but they’re the best access point to the federal government! I’ve sent follow up emails with updates and I like telling them they’re actively splitting the blue vote. I’ve started bugging other reps just because I can lol. If anyone wants some extra email templates I will give you some.
More legitimate avenues for donations:
MECA: Middle East Children's Alliance
PCRF: Palestinan Children's Relief Fund
UNRWA: United Nations Relief and Works Agency
Other avenues to show support:
Paliroots: Founded by siblings in 2016 in San Diego, for every order placed they donate a meal and every $25 they donate another. They partner with the previous organizations and more to fund other projects throughout the year. Their main goal has always been to spread awareness of Palestinian culture. They have a beautiful traveling Palestine series.
Boycott: Disney, Starbucks, McDonalds, Burger King, Subway, Dominos, Nestle, Coca Cola, Pepsi, Sprite… pretty much every mega corporation you can think of lol, this one’s hard if your trying to avoid them all but mostly just avoid Disney, Starbucks, and McDonalds. Leave a message stating why if you’re unsubscribing from rewards/streaming.
This is just off the top of my head, I'll update if needed lol.

Once upon a time I was a bright young thing reading Doctor Who pornos, as you do, and rather randomly one mentioned in passing that the Doctor thought Nestle was rubbish and boycotted them in any era he could.
And this was my first exposure to the notion that if you were writing stories with other people's characters, you might do more than just put them in a story; you might ascribe them opinions that actually relate to the world that we live in, which shaped my writing style so fundamentally I don't know who I'd be if I hadn't read it.
And also I try to boycott Nestle. Don't always succeed. But I try.

thivvy what's your opinions on nespresso coffee?
i will start by saying nestle is a fundamentally evil company and i try to boycott them however i can. yes, no ethical consumption under capitalism etc, but i think nestles practices are bad enough to justify trying to avoid them.
now let's separate the art from the artist:
ALL coffee pod systems carry with them the problem of sustainability. each cup you make with them generates plastic or aluminum waste from the pods. this doesn't sit right with me personally.
the machines themselves are expensive. and per cup coffee pods are more expensive than beans or grounds.
the coffee itself is bad! super stale dark roast. why pay more money for worse coffee? convenience??? you can diy pods with your own coffee inside but then why? you give up the convenience and you just end up with a keurig that thinks its an espresso machine. and its not even good espresso.
real espresso has around a 1:2 real of grounds input to coffee output. usually 20g in 40g espresso out. nespresso pods have like 4-10g of coffee but output a similar amount of liquid. nespresso is watery and weak like my cum after i started taking estrogen but i think my cum probably has better taste and more caffeine than those beans.
depending on what you want theres a lot of better choices whether you want convenience, espresso, or just coffee. also nestle is ontologically evil dont buy from them on purpose

oh no dad! Starbucks is in the boycott list! You dont have to publish this, im not trying to shame you. Just...good to avoid them rn.
No worries, I'm glad to respond to this publicly anyway. So... I'm not really aware of a definitive/authoritative (ie: "the") boycott list, but I do know that a corporation the size of Starbucks has probably taken actions (union busting) or made statements (anti-Hamas statement that looked kinda anti-Palestine) or formed relationships (Nestle) that folks might object to at any given time. I don't necessarily know if I buy into the efficacy of formal boycotts in general, but I'm happy to consciously either not contribute or drastically reduce my contribution to such a corporation's bottom line. In this case, that's a nice side effect of making coffee at home.
That said, I needed my morning coffee and I wasn't about to go to the popular nearby local shop with their publicly MAGA ownership. (Plus in this case, I was using a gift card, meaning that Starbucks already has the money. Might as well consume the goods.)
Anyway, my late coffee shipment finally arrived today, so it's back to making it at home every morning, like I want to do anyway.

✨2024 goals✨:
1) Don't let your country fall into a fascist state
Show up for your community
Join library's event and groups
Join your university's events and groups
Speak up against injustices (if it safe to do so)
Make sure your workplace respects yours and your colleagues rights
Be kind to strangers
Show up at protests (if/when it's safe)
If you engage in a debate with the opposite party: be safe, be calm, don't let them get to your nerves
Help old people
Listen to teens
Talk to people who seem lonely
More in person action, less social media activism
Be kind to the homeless, if you have the possibility some spare change can make the difference
If you can join a volunteer organization
2) Help fighting climate change
STOP BUYING THINGS YOU DON'T NEED
Stop using shein, temu, amazon and all the e-commerce apps and websites of the sort
Buy local and in person. This applies for food and objects as well
If you have the space and the time try growing easy vegetables
Recycle and demand your country/state/region/city to actually dispose of waste in a safe way and to actually recycle
Instead of throwing away your old clothes give them to others, friends, family, colleagues, neighbors, charities
Try to avoid buying plastic products. (I understand this can be impossible sometimes but if you have alternatives pls consider them)
Demand your government for environmental friendly politics and demand them now
Boycott brands that greenwash their products
Take care of your garden, plants, the grass at the park
Stop buying from brands who pollute water (fuck nestle)
Stop buying from brands who promote child labor and slavery (fuck nestle)
Demand for better public transportation
Try to fix the objects that break instead of buying new ones
Don't buy another car if yours works fine
Read what things are made of, clothes, foods etc
If there are protests join them!
3) Improve mental health
Less screen time
Unfollow anyone you think has a perfect life, a perfect house, a perfect partner, a perfect career, a perfect body. Unfollow any aesthetic blogs. Life isn't like that anyway
Anyone who tells you you can fix your life with just enough motivation is lying to you
You just need the right diet/outfit/skin routine/face symmetry/... Lies! ALL LIES!! You need a support system.
The good news, if you don't have a support system is that, is that making friends isn't as hard as it seems I promise.
Lots and lots of people are feeling lonely right now, everybody is looking for a sense of community, build one
Try a new hobby, or continue with another one
Read something, not like everyday, or that you have to reach a book quota, read anything magazines, fanfictions, instructions...
Sometimes the world seems against you, but it's not
Don't panic
Talk with your friends
Talk with your family
Make new friends and/or a new family if the current ones sucks
Walk a little bit every day
Get out of the house
Ask for help if you need it, even if you think it's something stupid, I promise people won't roll their eyes and be pissed about it
You're a complex organism, you need to eat
4) Career
It's always okay to waste company's time and money
Ask for a raise even if you don't think you deserve one
Never give your 100%
Be friendly with your colleagues (you're in the same boat)
Don't do things that are obviously dangerous just because "they've always done it like that" . You have the right to be safe
Always check the company's benefits
In many countries is actually illegal to get fired on the spot. Workers have rights, and if they don't they should demand them
Unionize. If you can't/don't want to at least talk with your colleagues about the problems you all are facing
You don't owe your workplace the truth about your lifestyle and your identity
5) Manifesting
Remember that is always morally right to celebrate when horrible people die
It's also always morally correct to wish for billionaires, politicians, CEOs, and dictators to die
6) Be the change
- Vote. One of the most important things you can do is to VOTE
I know politicians all look the same and it feels like compromising your ethics. But it's not like that. The only ones gaining something from your absence at the polls are the fascists!!
Spread awareness about the injustices, not only online but in your circle as well.
Donate when you can
Protest
Demand your government to take action
