Inter-transgender, trans-intergender, trans-intersexual, etc
Following up my post about the difference between demi-intergender and inter-demigender, here's one for transness thanks to an anonymous request 🩷
This post is long because there are several of terms to differentiate! This one is complex because of how "trans" has multiple meanings. I'll cover some ways that transness and intersexness can combine:
Inter-transgender (intertrans): when an intersex person is transgender in any sort of way, and this transness is connected or linked to being intersex.
This includes intersex people who feel trans because of a forced medical transition (mistransition/distransition).
This includes ipsotrans/exparium people: intersex people whose gender is the same as their AGAB but are trans.
This flag design follows the pattern of the interfluid, interdemigender, etc flags. It takes the transgender flag and adds intersex yellow stripes to top and bottom to signify it is an intersex/intergender version of transgender.
Hex codes: #FFFFFF #F5A9B8 #5BCEFA from trans flag, #FDD70A from intersex/intergender flags. ***
Inter-ultergender (interultergender): when an intersex person has a gender that is different from the one they were assigned at birth (ultergender) and this feels connected or linked to being intersex (intergender). This is ultergender in an intergender way.
Like above, I took the ultergender flag and added yellow stripes to give it an intergender flavour. Note: (inter-)ultergender people may or may not identify as trans. Ultergender does include trans people. Ultergender hex codes: #FFF378 #A263BD ***
Transgender-intersex (trans-intersex, ultertrans): an intersex person "whose gender identity does not match the one decided on by their doctors and/or parents at birth, and identifies as transgender and intersex at the same time." (@intersexfairy, 2021). Flag by Jesse Bananasaurus (2017).
This can be thought of as ultergender people who use the trans label, or ultertransgender.
Note that trans-intersex is not limited to people who feel their transness is related to being intersex. For example, somebody who is both trans and intersex, but feels that these two are completely unrelated from each other, would be trans-intersex and not intertrans.
Somebody who is trans, who transitioned, and then years later found out they are intersex, would also be trans-intersex.
Hex colours: same as inter-transgender. ***
Trans-intergender: when an intersex person changes/transitions from extergender to intergender. Extergender is when your gender is not influenced by being intersex; intergender is when it is.
For example: an intergender person who was assigned a binary gender at birth, who transitions from presumed extergender to becoming intergender/intersex-gender.
Another example would be an intersex transmasc who didn't know they were intersex until long after they did their gender transition, and then later got in touch with their intersex side.
Or, for another example, an intersex neutrois person who swore up and down during their gender transition that it was unrelated to being intersex (perhaps to access gender care) who later realizes or reveals they are intergender.
This flag design combines the intergender and extergender flags. The purple on the outside represents intergender. The white ring represents transition. The black in the centre represents extergender. ***
Trans-interine (transgender-inter, trans-intersexual): when an intersex person is trans, and their transition goal is their body's natural state - i.e. intersex/intergender/intersex-gender.
Per @intersexfairy (2021): trans-intersexual are intersex people "who feel as if they’re both biological sexes and do not fit into the categories of “male or female.” These people fit the categories of both intersex and transgender people."
Similar to how trans-feminine is a trans person who is feminine, trans-masculine is a trans person who is masculine, etc, I'm coining interine as a gender quality for intergender. This is an intersex-exclusive gender quality.
Trans-intersexual and trans-intersex tend to get (understandably) mixed up so I'm hoping interine is visually different enough to help out. Inter- in interine is for intergender, -ine is a common suffix for gender qualities (outherine, xenine, etc).
Trans-interine is a broader category than retrotransgender, a term I coined several months ago for intersex people like myself who transition to undo IGM/forced HRT/etc. Trans-interine would include intersex people who were free of coercive medical transition but are socially transitioning to be intergender.
This design follows the pattern of the four-stripe transmasc/transfem flags and the extended series posted by @ryanyflags in 2022. It replaces the two middle stripes that are used to indicate gender quality with the yellow and purple of the intersex & intergender flags.
Hex codes: #FDD70A #7A01AA from intersex/intergender flags, #FFFFFF #2b2d2c from trans* flags. ***
Intersex and trans (left), intergender and trans (right): flags for people who are both intersex and trans (left), or both intergender and trans (right).
Like trans-intersex, they do not imply a connection between the transness and the inter(sex|gender)-ness.
Unlike trans-intersex, these flags include ipsotrans people, and people who feel they are trans because of forced/coercive transition.
I've made these flags because I wanted ipsotrans & mistrans people to have options for flags. These flags follow the pattern of "stick icon in place of ring" to make X that is also intersex flags, like the flags for intersex & disabled, intersex & autistic, etc.
Table for reference
I hope this helps clarify how trans & intergender can be combined as terms (and flags)! Let me know if you want even more permutations of these concepts/flags 💜

directly vagueposting but this website is so suffocatingly exorsexist oh my God. transmasc does not mean "every trans person assigned female at birth". transfem does not mean "every trans person assigned male at birth". they are not "bad labels" for not adequately describing every trans person, you should be able to accept that TRANS PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT TRANSMASC OR TRANSFEM EXIST AND SHOULDNT BE SHOVED INTO THOSE LABELS.
#context: saw a post calling transmasc a bad label because it didnt correctly describe all non transfem trans people and its like welll yeah#thats not. what it fucking means. transmasc doesnt mean 'trans but not transfem'. and it is really gross to define transmasc identity#on LACK OF TRANSFEMININITY instead of . PRESENCE OF TRANSMASCULINITY.#and same vice versa with essentially implying transfems are just 'not transmasc'#transneutral people exist and deserve visibility and love for their labels and not to just be shoved into the boxes that dont fit them#same w unaligned and multigender and genderqueer and cistrans and intergender and etc.#and transmasc/transfem people dont deserve to be defined by what they are not. thats gross too.#beckonings

Interwoman & Interman flag redesigns!
We were NOT happy with the flags we made in 2021, so we remade them. Not much changed, it still has the same meanings, its just more aesthetically pleasing now.
(Please read and reblog our intersex guide! Its important to learn about intersex people.)
Interwoman/Intergirl: a person that is intersex and also a woman. They can have any sex traits. They might identify as a cis-woman, a trans-woman, or both.
Interman/Interboy: a person that is intersex and also a man. They can have any sex traits. They might identify as a cis-man, a trans-man, or both.

If you wouldn’t call a black person with albinism a white person because of their skin color why would you call a biological man or woman with chromosomal differences, variation in their genitalia or even hormone disorders as “queer” or included in the gay community? The term intersex is an umbrella term that denotes differences in sex hormones, internal or external genitalia, or chromosomes. These are disorders of sex. Even in individuals with true gonadal intersex traits, they will have either male or female chromosomes. To my knowledge there has never been a human born with both a chromosomal variant as well as internal and external genital variants that cannot be determined to be male or female. Every person born is either male or female. Having these conditions does not make a person something other than male or female. A woman being born without a uterus/ovaries, clitoromegaly (an enlarged clitoris), or some chromosomal mutation doesn’t make her any less of a woman. It doesn’t surprise me that TRAs will use these conditions to justify someone with a completely male or female body saying that they are or transitioning to the other sex. Intersex people are valid men and women.

Reason why I, an intersex trans man, got called a TERF #958465:
I don't support people who say that they're FTF or MTM "trans" or dfab trans women/DMAB trans men.
I don't really care if you're intersex or not, you can't transition to the gender you were raised as. That's just not a thing. It devalues actual trans experiences imo.
I can speak personally about the experience of being raised as a girl and actually being transmasculine and having that affect my experiences. A person who was raised has a girl and identifies as a woman does not have those experiences. A person who is raised as a boy and identifies as a man does not have those experiences.
I can fully respect people who identify as cisgender intersex, or consider intersex to be their gender, or identify as intergender, or even identify as intersex to female or intersex to male because those make sense. If your experience being intersex affected how you were raised and you identify as a different gender than your parents raised you to be, I totally understand that. But "I'm intersex and identify as the gender I was assigned/raised as" doesn't equal being trans.
But no amount of logic in my brain can ever understand how someone can transition to the same gender that they were raised as. It just seems like cis with extra steps to me, it seems like intersex erasure, and it seems transphobic.
I know that it's controversial to critique certain identities, but as someone who is intersex and trans, I feel like my opinion is valid. I don't see "MTM", "FTF", "dfab trans women" and "dmab trans men" as good faith identities.
People are still welcome to use those terms for themselves, but I don't feel comfortable interacting with them.
Usually when I have in the past, they've treated me weird (I've had people from that community insist that I can't be FTM because I'm intersex, I've experienced a lot of casual transphobia from that community, and I've had a lot of them basically pull the whole "transandrophobia is fake because trans men have male privilege blah blah blah") and I just don't want to deal with that.
So yeah, IDC if people criticize this tbh. Unless you're also intersex and trans, it's not really something you can invalidate because I'm talking about my own community.
I'm going to block anyone who leaves comments bothering to say that they don't agree with me because I really don't give a shit if you agree with me. You aren't changing my mind and talking over me is transphobic and intersexist.
#discourse#transandrophobia#lgbtqia#intersex#gender identity#trans#intergender#good faith identities#can you tell I'm having a bad day posting all of these really long text posts?

hello chat. papicharic / papigender (both are fine)
(alternate 4-stripe flag below)
self-explanatory xenogender where your gender feels somehow connected to the character Papi from Popee the Performer. no real symbolism besides the colors being taken from his palette
interpapicharic / interpapigender
an intersex-exclusive variant of papicharic where your gender feels somehow connected to Papi from Popee the Performer in a specifically intersex way. that specific way can range from being intergender in nature or just because you're intersex and prefer this flag idc. stripe symbolism is based off the intersex flag by natalie phox
I specifically made an intersex variant because I learned he may be canonically intersex and I'm running with it LOL. i think his variation would be PMDS... as a treat

My intersex flag!
I wanted an intersex flag that really embodied the varying gender expressions of intersex people so it's:
Yellow for a community shared by both hormonally, chromosomally and physically intersex people!(Including Asex people)
Pink for intrafems!
Purple for intrafemmascs!
White for fighting intersex stereotypes, perisexist rhetoric that leads to non-consentual surgeries on intersex adults and children and protecting ourselves from appropriative terminology/terminology that often appropriates our condition instead of allyship (certain altersex terms( though is supportive of them generally) and transintersex)!
Green for intraneu and other nonbinary/third gender Intersex expressions!
And blue for Intramascs!
This flag is only to be used by naturally intersex people. If you were not born intersex or naturally developed an intersex condition, this flag is not for you.
This flag is also not inherently an LGBT flag, though it is a pride flag.
This flag is inclusive of cis intersex/cintergender people.

Happy trans day of visibility to those who celebrate <3
Remember that you're valid no matter what others say. No matter how far along in your transition you are (if you want to transition at all). No matter if you pass in public.
Today is a day to see you, to celebrate your existence. You can use whatever pronouns you like, you can speak about being trans however much you feel comfortable speaking, you have every right to live a happy fulfilling life and today is a day to remind you of this.

Intersex mood: having a fucking panic attack trying to figure out what the hell to say when someone asks what you're assigned at birth because the truth is socially unacceptable at best, but if you lie and pick one of two everyone projects a whole bunch of biosex bullshit assumptions and privileges AND automatically saying you must be trans even if you also don't quite fit there.
Just don't ask!!!!!!

The limitations of dyadics understanding of gender
It’s a weird feeling when you’re intersex and gender diverse. It's hard to find progressive spaces that are aware of the unique experience, whether we’re cis, trans, nonbinary, GNC, etc.
When you’re intersex, society typically treats you as a freak for not conforming into a flawed + arbitrary sex binary. You have no control over how you are born as, but interphobes will make it their mission to change you into a pink/blue box. And it doesn’t matter if you’re fine with said box, they will still see you as a freak. And if you try to find your way out of the box, they will rudely remind you of your “binary” existence. What I mean by that is, if dyadics see you as “pink enough” they will constantly, often violently, remind you that you are “really” female. If dyadics see you as “blue enough” they will constantly, most likely violently, remind you that you are “really” male.
Being gender diverse is hard enough, regardless of your gender label. Being cisgender and not conforming to the (often European) beauty standards and gender roles will place a target on you. Being trans, nonbinary, and/or GNC is an automatic target because you were supposed to stay in your box without any alterations.
This is amplified if you’re a person of color. Because you already failed at the European beauty standard, your punishment is (often) amplified. Of course, it depends on your race, but your efforts to conform to these standards will always be lackluster.
But to be all of this seems like a death sentence.
