I didn’t tell you guys about nice situation that happened bc i was busy being a hater doing astro asks but yesterday at the gym two 16-17yo girls asked me if i am personal trainer and if i could coach them. Of course i said no but this is the fourth time it happened at this place and it is like a pat on the back to me :’)

🎀 Current At Home Workout Equipment I Own
Thick Yoga Mat - since I do mainly yoga and pilates my thick yoga may (amazon brand) has served me well. Even tho I am a heavier woman at the moment, I've never had pain or any issues with this mat, and it came with a carry strap which I love! A good, thick workout mat is definitely necessary for working out at home for comfort, safety, etc. Make sure to disinfect it on occasion, especially if you sweat on it a lot!
Resistance Bands - I have about 3 or 4 at different resistance strengths, and they're incredibly useful for a variety of movements, especially lower body ones. They add some extra resistance and make the workouts a bit more challenging when you need something more advanced. I also got mine from Amazon/Walmart a while back. I prefer fabric over rubber because I like to wear workout shorts instead of workout leggings.
Pilates Ball - not a necessity, but useful with some pilates workouts and movements. I have seen sole videos using this, but am not advanced enough to try it on my own yet. Will use for sure once I'm more advanced.
3lb dumbbells - I thought these would be useful for the pilates workouts that had some upper body focus, and as someone who wants to develop a lean and toned upper body, they are perfect for low weight high rep, controlled movements. Again, not advanced enough to use as I want to master my form, but they're gonna come in handy for sure!
Foam Roller - so so good for stretching and muscle recovery on rest days. I love mine but want one that has the bump things on it to help my muscles more. I can imagine how good it'll feel on my legs during a recovery day when I begin wieght lifting again.
Massage Gun - my holy grail for the days I am sore and needing some recovery. my body feels like jelly after using this, and it's just so nice for the days my muscles feel extra tight and super sore.
🎀 Equipment I Want To Buy
Yoga Blocks - these will help me get deeper into the yoga poses once I get more advanced in my practice
Pilates Ring - this honestly looks so fun and challenging to use, I'd love to add it to my collection of useful workout equipment!
Jump Rope - I used to love this as a form of cardio and as long as I don't move into an upstairs apartment, I'm definitely buying one
Pilates Bar - still iffy on this one, it's supposed to mimic a reformer but I want to get better at mat pilates and see if I even end up ever needing or seriously wanting to buy it, its on my list tho
Ankle/Wrist weights - these are gonna be so useful for workouts where hand held dumbbells aren't useful. Want to buy some low weight ones just to help with resistance and extra strength during pilates workouts
Kettlebell weight - I think this would be useful for a workout at home type situation if and when I switch to not doing just pilates and yoga. I know these are useful in their own right, but not needed in my current fitness stage of life.
Core Sliders - these look fun and interesting. They're on my lost for sure, but not sure about the practicality of their use in my life just yet.
That's all that's currently on my at home workout equipment list! As someone who primarily works out at home, the things I currently own are most useful and most of what's on this list is for fun or extra challenge. Just not necessary yet.

Like when she found out gluten was in soy sauce, or when she discovered she might have to use that godforsaken 6 train in New York. This time, it's a message that reads: Just signed up for Pilates. You may never see me again.
You roll your eyes, groaning at the incoming rant that's sure to follow. Leah's the kind of person who only does new things for one of two reasons: someone dared her, or she's trying to prove to herself that she is still young and can get away with eating three chocolate croissants in a single sitting. You suspect it’s a combination of both. She’s mentioned something about trying to build a "strong core," which you assume is code for "I'm slowly being bullied into this by the fact that all my teammates have six-packs and I have a soft spot for bread."
At 7:45 AM, just as you’re pouring coffee, Leah calls. You pick up on the third ring because you’re not a monster.
“I’m going to die,” she says, without so much as a hello
“Bold start to the day,” you reply. “Anything specific, or is it just a general feeling?”
“Pilates,” she says, and it sounds like a curse word. “Do you know what that is?”
You almost spit out your coffee because, yes, you know what Pilates is. You’re not sure what’s more shocking: that Leah doesn’t know or that she actually followed through on signing up.
“Yeah, Leah, I know what Pilates is”
“Well, it’s hell. No one told me it was this hard. And the instructor—she’s, like, smiling at me while she’s killing me. How are you supposed to trust someone who's trying to make you do something called a 'teaser' while she grins like a lunatic?”
You can picture it now. Leah, in the middle of a room full of people who've been doing this since their nannies signed them up for ballet at age three, contorting herself on a reformer like it’s some kind of medieval torture device. Meanwhile, the instructor—probably named something like Tiffani with an 'i'—is telling her to “engage her core,” as if Leah didn’t already have a job that required her to do that for 90 minutes straight, several times a week.
“Did you die, though?”
“Almost. My legs were shaking. My abs—I didn’t even know I had abs. Why does anyone do this willingly? I’ve literally been fouled by Fran Kirby, and that was less painful”
“Maybe you should stick to yoga”
“Yoga!” Leah scoffs. “I can do yoga. That’s just stretching and pretending you’re one with the universe or whatever”
You let her have that one because there’s no use arguing with someone who once mistook a meditation class for an excuse to nap in public.
Leah continues, “This class, though—it's not natural. They make you put your legs in straps. Straps! Like a harness, but for your feet. And then they expect you to lift them while you're suspended in the air like some sort of flying squirrel”
You’ve taken Pilates before, so you know exactly what she’s talking about, but you can’t help but laugh. Leah, in her infinite wisdom, probably signed up for the most advanced class because, as she said once, “Go big or go home.” Now, she’s paying for it.
“Maybe you should ask to start in a beginner class,” you suggest, knowing full well she won’t.
“Yeah, no. I already told them I’m an athlete. Can’t back down now. But I swear, if one more person tells me to ‘breathe through it,’ I’m going to punch them in the face”
You imagine the looks on the faces of her Pilates classmates as she throws a fit in the middle of a serene, candle-lit studio. You’ve seen Leah frustrated before, but this is a new level of agitation, and it’s all directed at something she willingly signed up for.
“Maybe it’s good for you,” you offer, “builds character”
“Yeah, and scars. On my pride”
You laugh again because you can see where this is going. Leah, who tackles challenges like they’re personal vendettas, is going to keep going back to that class until she can hold a plank longer than anyone else, even if it kills her. Or, more likely, until she finds something else to distract her, like knitting or extreme ironing.
"I’m just saying," she adds, after a pause, "if I end up with a six-pack, it’s because I earned it. None of this ‘strong core’ bullshit. I want abs of steel. Like, I want to be able to crack a walnut between my ribs”
You’re crying with laughter now, imagining Leah doing sit-ups in front of a mirror at home, testing her progress with various hard-shelled nuts.
“Don’t worry, babe,” you say, trying to calm yourself down. “If you do get abs of steel, I’ll make sure to bring walnuts everywhere we go”
“Good,” she replies, and you can hear her finally start to laugh along with you. “You’re on walnut duty. And if this all goes horribly wrong and I never make it out of Pilates alive, just know it was the straps that did me in”
You shake your head, still smiling. “You’ll be fine. But maybe next time, start with a class that doesn’t sound like it was designed by someone who secretly hates people”
Leah sighs dramatically. “Noted. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to spend the rest of the day lying flat on the floor and cursing Joseph Pilates”
“You do that, babe,” you say, hanging up as you imagine her sprawled out on the carpet, texting you updates about how her muscles are rebelling against her. And you can’t wait to read every single one.

Question: How many spin classes did u go to a week and how long did it take for you to feel like you were progressing strength and resistance wise? I've been looking into pilates classes but they are soooo expensive (like 500 dollars a class) and far away 😔.
I tried doing pilates at home and while I love it I just didn't feel like I was making progress. I would finish the entire playlist of beginners videos from one instructor then move onto intermediate to find I couldn't make it through the first five minutes lmao. I think I need some irl guidance.
Oof well I go at LEAST twice a week, and sometimes 3-4 times a week if I have the energy and work doesn’t run late (I have a lot of late night calls because I work with a lot of people based in Australia and New Zealand). But in my early 20s, I was kind of insane and used to work out like 7 days a week (4 days spinning, 2 days yoga, and 1 day strength training) (this was before Covid, which kind of collapsed my whole world and my youthful stamina lmao).
It took awhile to feel like I was progressing! I started in maybe 2017, and by mid 2018 I felt comfortable and solid, but I also didn’t grow up playing sports or anything so I had to really build up my strength. It takes awhile in my opinion, and you tend to not notice your progression until all of a sudden you’re like “wow I could never do that before wtf”
Also yeah it’s 🥲 pretty expensive. I’m fortunate that I have a pretty good job, but also it’s so good for my mental and physical health that I can justify it to myself.

It’s a brisk autumn morning in Velaris, the air is cold and misty. Clouds of breath float from your mouth as you sip on your latte. The barista recommended a new blend today, one with hints of pumpkin and cinnamon, the perfect accompaniment to today’s weather.
You continue on your way to work, but pick up your pace. You own a small yoga studio in between the Rainbow and the Palace of Hoof and Leaf. Ever since the war ended your business has blossomed. Your studio offers a much-needed escape for many people. As sad as the circumstances are, you feel privileged to be able to help in your own way.
Your schedule has been crammed with all sorts of classes throughout the week, you teach a mix of both yoga and pilates along with modified childrens and pregnancy classes.
There is some overlap between yoga and pilates techniques, but overall they are quite different practices. You find combining the two disciplines throughout your week gives you the best results - both physically and mentally.
You arrive at the studio well before your class starts, giving you enough time to set up. You’re fully booked this morning teaching female-only yoga. You like to offer a few gender specific classes throughout the week, and they always have a great turn out. The rest of the time, everyone is welcome at your studio.
You switch on the faelights and the music, light some incense and start laying out the mats and equipment. The first of your students start to arrive and greet you with friendly hellos and smiles. Most of the faces you recognise, you have many happy returning visitors. There are two new faces in your class.
“Hi there, I’m Aurora. Welcome to my studio.” you say to the newcomers.
“Hey I’m Nesta, and this is Gwyn. We’ve heard such good things about your lessons, we’ve been dying to try it out!” says the tall female with golden-brown hair. You recognise her name, you know this is the High Lady’s sister.
“We’re so excited to be here! Lovely to meet you, Aurora.” says Gwyn, Nesta’s red headed friend.
“Thank you for coming by and giving my class a go. I hope you enjoy yourselves today. Please just try your best, take as many breaks as you need and let me know if you need any help. Some poses can be quite tricky, especially if it’s your first time.” You turn slightly to face the rest of the class and start your lesson, “good morning everyone and welcome. I can see lots of smiles today - we’ll see if they stick around until the end of the class.”
“Let’s start with some big deep breaths, in through the nose and out through the mouth.”

You were pleasantly surprised by how well Nesta and Gwyn went in class today, and they were still smiling as you walk over to them.
“How did you find the class? You both did amazing.”
Nesta laughs, “I bet I won’t feel amazing tomorrow. I really need to work on my flexibility.”
“I really loved the breathing and meditation at the end, it’s similar to some techniques we use in our regular training,” says Gwyn.
“Interesting. What training do you normally do?” you question, hoping it doesn’t come across too nosy.
“We have a small group that we train with every morning, it’s mostly Priestesses like Gwyn, but anyone is welcome,” explains Nesta.
“We’ll have to bring some of my sisters along some time, I just know they’ll love you!” Gwyn exclaims, clapping her hands together.
“Thank you both so much, it was a pleasure to have you both in my class today. I hope I see you back here again soon.” You say your goodbyes to the rest of the class and start to wipe down all the equipment as the studio empties.
You have a short break now before you teach a children’s class, followed by a free mindfulness session - something that has gained popularity since Hybern’s attack on the city.
Nesta and Gwyn become class regulars - attending multiple times a week, occasionally bringing Feyre, along. They seem to prefer the female-only classes. Of course, that is why you offer them. You know yourself how difficult it can be to workout around males, especially when healing from trauma. You feel very privileged to be trusted and provide a safe space.

Running your studio takes up a lot of your time and energy, but when you do get a quiet moment to yourself you love to hide away with a good romance novel. You’ve just finished your latest book which was steamier than your typical choices. Shocked that you enjoyed such a book, you decide to head to your favourite bookstore for some new recommendations.
A little bell rings as you open the door to the store. You inhale the woody scent as you walk past towering shelves stacked to the ceiling with beautifully bound books. The ones you’re seeking today are hidden out of the way of unknowing customers. As you make your way to the back corner, you recognise a female’s laugh.
“Aurora! I didn’t know you were a bookworm like us!” Nesta calls out and rushes over to you from the same section you’re heading towards.
“What kind of books do you like reading?” Asks Gwyn. “You should come and visit us sometime at the library, we would have invited you sooner if we knew.”
“Fancy seeing you two here. I really love my romances! I just finished ‘Thorns and Roses’ and I’m desperate for a new read.”
“Ooooh that’s a great one! In that case I have so many recommendations for you.” Nesta grabs your hand and pulls you over to the adult romance section. She picks out a few that you would never have chosen yourself and you decide to buy them all.
Nesta picks out her own armful of books and you walk to the counter together. “You two sure are keeping the bookstores in business” laughs Gwyn.
As the three of you exit the store with bags in hand, Nesta turns to you, “Hey Aurora, do you ever teach classes outside of the studio?”
“Yeah I do, I’ve taught yoga in the park when there’s been good weather. It’s always fun to have a change of scenery.”
“I was thinking, I’d like to introduce our training group to yoga. I’ve noticed such a difference in my core strength and flexibility since I’ve started attending your classes. I think the others would love to try, but not everyone will leave the house.” She pauses, sharing a sad look with Gwyn. “If you could come to us instead, that would make it accessible to everyone.” Nesta continues with Gwyn nodding along.
You’re speechless for a moment at their request. Your smile is from ear to ear as you say, “I’d be honoured.”

A few weeks go by with Nesta and Gwyn continuing to attend your classes. You’re scheduled to train with them at the House of Wind the following day. You’re feeling excited, but nervous at the prospect.
Nesta mentioned that they also train with two Illyrian males named Cassian and Azriel - you have heard they are fearless warriors and part of the High Lord’s inner circle. Nesta affectionately calls them Cass and Az, but you can’t bring yourself to use their nicknames. You’ve never met either male despite living in Velaris for over 50 years and it seems wrong to not use proper names with anyone of their status.
You begin to wonder if you’ve made a mistake. What could you possibly have to teach that they don’t already know? You feel a bit silly as you look over the training plan for the next day, you’ve decided to go with a hybrid class including a mix of basic poses that work up to some more complex ones. You know they get easier to perform as the body gets warmed up. You’ve also included some time for a cool-down meditation. You hope that, at the very least, everyone will enjoy a slight change in their routine - even if you may not have much to coach them on.

The House Of Wind is high up in the face of the mountains, overlooking all of Velaris. You’ve never been up there yourself, but you’ve always been curious of the dwelling carved into the rock.

You finally land in the training area on top of the House of Wind, very happy to be on the ground again. You were not made for the skies. Steadying yourself, you look around and find eight females including Nesta and Gwyn, and two very handsome Illyrian males.
If the flying hadn’t already knocked the breath out of you, seeing the shadowsinger for the first time certainly did. You know who it is because clouds of shadows swirled around him - you’ve never seen a male so beautiful. You catch his gaze and look away quickly. Insecurity crept in again and you started to doubt your plan for today’s workout.
Nesta and Gwyn run to greet you, pulling you into a group hug and squealing with laughter. They each grab a hand and pull you towards the group. A striking female with tan skin, brown hair and Illyrian wings walks to the front and pulls you into a hug.
“Hi Aurora, I’m Emerie, I’m so glad to finally meet you. I’ve heard such great things, I’m so excited for today!”
You say hello to everyone, introducing yourself to the other females. You risk another glance out the corner of your eye at the shadowsinger and see him watching you intently, his head slightly tilted to the side. You feel your cheeks heat up and take a deep breath, trying to calm yourself and hoping that your nervousness goes unnoticed.
The other male with long hair pulled back into a bun steps towards you with a charming smile, reaching out his hand to shake yours. “Hello Aurora, I’m Cassian and this is Azriel. Nice to finally meet you. I’ve noticed a huge difference in Nesta’s training since she’s started attending your studio. I'm very excited to see what you can do to Az, he could do with being more flexible.” Cassian laughs and nudges Azriel’s shoulder.
Azriel just nods once at you. A male of few words it seems.

currently working on a ZhongChi fic where Childe is a competitive swimmer and Zhongli is his Pilates instructor after he injures his shoulder in training. and over time they catch feelings. I GOT THIS IDEA IN MY PILATES CLASS WHY AM I LIKE THIS
imagine zhongli leaning over childe as he fixes his posture in the class and tells him what to do in his ear. and childe just doesnt know how to react because this instructor has one tight and toned ass. and zhongli just doesnt know how to behave because his student has broad swimmer shoulders.
