Summary: Tartaglia and Scaramouche are tasked to investigate the Sumeru woods; however, when Scaramouche flees suddenly, Tartaglia is left to face the wrath of a pack of wild savage men looking for their new queen.

“Be done with it then,” Childe said. "If you’re going to eat me, fucking do it."

The wild man above him didn’t react. He just stared down at Childe with an intensity in his eyes.

The other pack members walked over. Childe could see them standing over him in his periphery, like tall hairy giants. The smell of wet dog burned his nose and he closed his eyes, anticipating something to happen, but all he heard was low growls. They were literally like animals: no words — just sounds.

Childe’s eyes flew open at a deep, loud growl from the wild man above him. He looked up to see the man was no longer staring down at him, but at his pack members. He glared up at them from under his brows, as if warning them to stay away. Some of the members backed off, but one lingered, continuing to stare down his pack member in a silent dispute. Immediately, a bad feeling began to settle deep inside Childe.

He jolted in surprise when the wild man threw himself overtop of Childe, like a wolf claiming its prize, and let out a loud gravelly sound from deep within his throat, his lips pulled back into a snarl. His pack member backed away, but not without giving a snide growl in return before walking off. The wild man calmed slightly, though kept his eyes on the rest of the pack. His eyes roamed, like he was silently telling them all that this one was mine. Once he felt comfortable in his position, his eyes returned to Childe with that same intensity as before.

Childe swallowed thickly.
