My coworker and I were helping with a diaper collection and distribution drive for families in need and someone dropped off a loose garbage bag full of loose but unused, new diapers. And I asked my coworker, “How do we know what size they are?” Y’know… on account of them not being in a labeled box. And her response was something like: 😑🤦🏽‍♀️. But after a beat, she could not contain a smile and pulled a: 😶🤭.

So I told her, “Okay. Go ahead. Say it. Say what you’re thinking. Dew it,” and she very gleefully told me, “You’re such a man. And I can say that now. You’ve always been like this and now I can say it.”

Anyway… I learned that they print the numbers on the individual diapers and then had the “pleasure” of overhearing her mutter, “God, men really don’t know anything.”

Gave me a bit of a laugh.

Folding clothes keeps you from getting the laundry done? Stop folding clothes. Put a basket in your room and throw your unfolded clean stuff into it right out of the dryer, it's fine.

Rinsing dishes off keeps you from loading the dishwasher? Load them dirty and run it twice.

Chopping onions keeps you from making yourself dinner? Buy the freezer bags of chopped onions.

You forget to take your meds and don't want to get out of bed to get them? Start putting them next to the bed.

Can't keep up with the dishes? Get paper plates. Worried about environment impact? Order biodegradable ones online if your local store doesn't have one.

Make the task easier. Put things where you use them instead of where they "go." Eliminate the steps that keep you from finishing the task. Eliminate the task that is stressing you out.

Do it the "wrong" way. It's literally fine.

i turn 24 today. To celebrate, I made this comic to be a spiritual successor to lead balloon, a comic in which I talked about the darkest period of my life so far.

A lot has changed since my 23rd birthday and this one. My priorities have shifted a lot, in ways that I think are mostly good. But i think the best part about today is that suicide has gone back to being a far away notion. I'm really lucky, and I'm grateful for that.
