As of Fictional Wrestlemania, the current World Heavyweight Champion is Dr. Gregory House (House M.D.), who defeated both Sherlock Holmes and Jim Moriarty (BBC Sherlock). Although Sherlock is guaranteed an immediate rematch since he was the previous titleholder, Holmes has decided to rest for now to recover from their match (kayfabe injury). So, to determine the new #1 contender, a Fatal 4-way match was ordered by the unnamed commissioner.

Heya all, 32/m AST here, looking to get into some fandom pairings! I have a million little plots scattered over a few blogs, so check out my Tumblr and fart around if you'd like. My Discord (where I prefer to RP) is Weemie. In all pairings I've italicized who I'm comfortable playing. I prefer a mix of smut and plot, maybe 60/40 or 80/20 (or alternating!) as I adore world-building and mix-and-matches.

No matter what pairing we end up playing, I will almost certainly flesh out the world with other characters, though you are under no obligation to do the same. While I typically play M//, my Agnes and Seven are both non-binary (she/they, typically will use she/her but depending on state may default to they/it, given their starfish-alien properties). I have a whole host of original Star Trek characters set post-DS9 or STXI. Most of them are men, with one non-binary Trill (he/they, default to he/him) and one non-binary Artificial Intelligence (they/it, default to they). Let me know if you'd like to do an OC based RP. I love to play Trills, Vulcans and Betazoids and have loads of lore (including created conlangs and psychology/physiology) for 'em. X-Men era can be in the '50s, '70s, '80s or full modern. First-class elements, but both my Charles and Erik are highly AU and I have many different versions of them dependent on the era you would prefer to write in. I love a good historical fiction, but I'm cognizant of the current climate and will approach it with tact.

House is set during the season 1-ish Duckling!era. My version of James is quite canonically dark (passionate based in ethos), while my version of House is generally a lot more AU (he is more realistic as a physician, and compassionate based in logos).

Kind of feel like working out how I went from what could have been a fan fiction idea to my slightly more original story ~now deleted link to that version of the Hollywood story~

The initial idea came about with Dr Soong on Star Trek TNG-

And imagining ways to use the idea of most people not knowing who the person under the make-up was.

In real life it's Brent Spiner our favorite male pufferfish.

The person in the make-up in my story changed identities a few times but I'm satisfied now with them being third generation Hollywood, dating fourth generation, and it helped steer the idea of the protagonist being a special effects make-up artist.

The story in its basic current form started taking shape around the turn of the century, so I had a chick in it and made her gay, before Disney did. Also the one person in the make-up took a side step and became a secondary character to someone who was a secondary character that had little more than a gimmick and a guest shot in a different story (same universe very different branch).

It starts with having a bad case of The Jeffie-

And seriously, can I see another commercial for Charmed? There aren't enough commercials for Charmed. (I've still only seen the episode with Chris Shea so it's on me)

Real life uncle and niece but have never worked together to my knowledge. But an idea is an idea.

There have been several major drafts. What used to be the beginning when I was first plotting it is now in the middle because I wanted logical reasons why the protagonist was there. Characters were added, renamed, removed, combined, split in to several people.

By the teens the story was in the general form it is now, a few years later there was a substantial addition to the end, around 2020 I went thru with the ick skimmer and removed some things that didn't seem quite right and undescribed a few characters to make them a bit more relatable, renamed just about everyone but the two leads because he has to be Gregory for a Chekov's joke and her name means illusion.

A few places have things I'm not entirely sure of. There's a possible personal complication to one character that might have gone in a poignant direction but now that kids have ruined The Backrooms I might tame it down even more.

Some times I love the little world I created for them and some times I'm yelling at it. The only consistent feeling is not wanting this little world to stay lost inside me and my 'puter.

I wrote this response months ago but never posted it. Whoops.

So the fun part about Ayala as a character to me is that he is EVERWHERE but he almost never talks so we know veeeeery little about him. But Here are some things of the top of my head:

He's a father of two boys.

In Basics (the one where Seska steals Voyagers and strands the crew minus Suder, Paris and the EMH on a hostile planet with a civilization roughly in the stone age) he's part of the team that distracts the animals that live in the caves to get some people out. It is notable both because he says a word (Yeah.) and because Janeway asked for the fastest runners, which seems to include him

I believe that he says less than a dozen words inthe entire series

BUT is in almost every episode, there is only a handful where we don't see him

He's the fourth person we see in Caretaker after Chakotay, Torres and Tuvok. You have to pay attention to it because he's in the background and it's misty af (unless you are me who sees that dumbass vest and things: MY GOOD FRIEND MIKE)

Also in Caretaker, when Tuvok reveals he is a spy, he is this 🤏 close to committing some act of violence. Chakotay is the ONLY thing that stopped a maiming of a vulcan that day.

Speaking of "My good friend Mike" that first name? Not canon. At all. I think he even spend several seasons without any name at all and is only addressed as Lieutenant Ayala a few times. Another popular name the fandom used to give him is Greg/ Gregory. But that is mostly out of fashion nowadays.

We know what deck his quarters are on but for the life of me I can't remember right now

Alsooo we see his actor, Tarik Ergin, as an unnamed medical personnel in one of the TNG movies

As a Lieutenant jg., one of the very few Maquis over the rank of Ensign

The previous two facts have led to speculation that he might have been in Starfleet prior to the Maquis. (Though I personally prefer the idea of him as a character that is a Maquis in a high position without being in Starfleet previously. Because the idea of him looking down at tactqical reports with panic in his eyes is funny. (Like. Oh shit I gotta do a log. Oh shit how do you fill out this report. Fuckfuckfuckfuckkkkk.)

I believe he's also an Ensign in later seasons for.no reason but I haven't noticed yet, but I am only on season 6 or so

I haven't taken a statistic but I believe the most likely places to spot him as either tactical officer when Tuvok is somewhere else or guarding the brig.

There is also an episode where Tuvok mentions leaving him in command of the bridge.

I think I saw you mention somewhere that you haven't really watched Voyager so. Do you already know who Lieutenant Ayala is?

Admiral Gregory Quinn: Starfleet Admiral in the Operational Support Services Division. Used the Enterprise’s layover at Relva VII to conduct a snap investigation, along with Lt. Cmdr. Dexter Remmick (with the Inspector General’s Officer). The investigation and the interviews were a front to make sure the Enterprise crew and her Captain had not been co-opted, believing forces either internal or external were looking to destroy the Federation from within. Quinn offered Picard the promotion to Admiral and the position of Starfleet Academy Commandant hoping to keep him close while also believing he was the best man for the job. Picard declined and Quinn let the matter drop. 

Some time after Relva VII but before the destruction of thestarship Horatio, Dexter Remmick infected Admiral Quinn with a mind controlling parasite. Admiral Quinn became one of many unwitting aides in an alien conspiracy to take over the Federation. 

Quinn was on Earth when the Enterprise returned following the destruction of the Horatio, along with the Admiralty invited Picard to dinner at Starfleet Headquarters, with first a trip to the Enterprise where he misdirected Captain Picard about his previous fears but only drew attention to himself. Quinn attempted to infect Riker with the parasite, attacking him Only the intervention by an armed Dr. Crusher was Quinn subdued. Medical examinations revealed the alien parasite which had attached itself to the base of his skull and taken complete control. When the Remmick-Queen creature was destroyed, his parasite also perished leaving no trace. He was given a clean of health.

I’ve written a lot of stories about people who are Very Online, but I don’t think I’ve written a story where the characters are as continually connected via technology as they are in The Lady And The Tiger. I haven’t written a novel set in the modern day for a while -- Six Harvests just barely had a telephone -- so I spent some time grappling with the last five years of tech, in a fiction/prose situation where it’s not the focus, for basically the first time. Regardless of genre or plot, it feels like it’s an exercise in a form of philosophy. 

A while ago, I had the idea that access to the internet (specifically social media) via smartphone has created a form of synthetic telepathy. You can’t read another person’s mind without their say-so, but you can communicate silently with them and you can broadcast your thoughts to whole groups of people via social media, and even participate in mass movements via things like trending hashtags. With the result that sometimes hive minds form where they might not be expected to otherwise, but that’s not the only result. 

There are a bunch of conversations in The Lady And The Tiger that take place mostly or entirely over text, at once private and intimate while also limitedly public in group chats. Like when Gregory and Eddie are in the same room but texting their conversation with each other so Alanna will see it, or when Jerry broadcasts a picture of his adventures to his peer group and accidentally also sends it to the family patriarch. For ease of differentiation, I put text messages in italics, and there are places where it definitely looks like a group of people with a genetic predisposition to telepathy are having a psychic conversation. Instantaneous, private, silent communication across distances within a group, which itself is subject to change based on intent. 

It does make my job easier; multiple characters can participate in the story without needing an excuse to be physically present, and I don’t need to track their movements. Then what they’re doing or where they are become almost luxurious layers of detail -- unnecessary but entertaining decoration, rococo narrative flourishes.  

I don’t know what any of it means, really. I just keep circling back mentally to this idea of the linked trio of internet, smartphone, and social media as either the spine of an augmented, synthetically telepathic human race, or the training wheels for the eventual evolution of biological telepathy. As a kid watching Star Trek TNG, I would often think about what fuckin’ chaos it must have been when Betazoids first developed telepathy; it’d be nice if our current predicament vis a vis Believing What You See On The Internet was at least teaching us how not to be hot fucking messes when we eventually manage it ourselves. Even some of the terminology (broadcast, block, send) is the same. 

I feel like also it must make writing a telepathic race easier -- just pretend they have smartphones and then never mention the smartphones....
