My favorite things from episode 5.01 …in no particular order:
- that first 126 firehouse scene single-handedly cured my depression. TK refereeing the chaos with his little whistle around his neck. “the big tortoise” “not sure how I feel about the big tortoise” 🐢 💀 “no spitting” *here’s lookin at you marj* Mateo forgetting to hit stop cause it was just too exciting!!
- tommy bringing strand men to grief therapy like she gets referral credit. when is it Carlos’ turn?
- detective paul AGAIN on scene with the bullet hole solution. thank you and good night my man is baaack.
- paul’s “showboat” comment then smash cut to paul being a showboat. Iconic editing. lone star is a comedy.
- Judd in his readers. 😍
- I appreciate how they wrote grace out. They could’ve been lazy and killed her off and claimed it was for drama and emotion. But they chose a way that not only honored the character but is also something that feels like sierra would respect given her personal values.
- Wyatt and Carlos meeting was such a small moment but so sweet. “You’re TK’s husband, right?” “He was one of the paramedics who saved my life.” the tarlos fan club is constantly growing
- LOU TWO! keeping TK company! being fed peppers like the king that he is!
#911 lone star#911 lone star spoilers#episode recap favorite bits#oh it’s been ages since I’ve done one of these!!#feels good to bring it back#oh also not to gloat but i'm gonna gloat in the tags cause I absolutely called what the phone call was gonna be about!#lemon is my witness

Hmm.... anyone got the idea of a psychic comedy club? XD
[Norma] It wouldn't be very viable, because either the audience would read your mind to get to the punchline, or you'd telepathically have to tell your stories, so you'd just be standing there.
[Raz] How about using TK for slapstick?
[Norma] Now, that's a different story. That could actually work.

🌹 🌹 🌹 Alternative reconciliation
🌹 🌹 🌹 Coma
🌹 🌹 🌹 Worst day of his life
Thank you!
Hey nonnie, thank you for playing 🥰
Alternative reconciliation ~ this fic is actually finished, kinda, but I wrote it during a speed sprint (30 minutes of writing without thinking or correcting mistakes or anything), so it's terrible and needs serious reworking. But there was one scene I had messed up a bit, so I used your three sentences to rewrite it... well, four actually 😊
Before he heard a voice, he could hear background music – like a club or a bar or something. It didn’t make sense to his sleep-addled brain.
“TK?” came a familiar voice, even though he couldn’t place it. “You might wanna come and pick up your boyfriend.
I swear I wrote this before we saw Mateo being called to pick up his drunk Captain, I swear 😂
Coma fic ~ ohhh, the fic I'm slowly killing myself with, one word at a time 🥺😭
Sometimes, when TK was really tired and his mind blank, he could even fool himself into believing so. That Carlos was merely taking a nap. That he would wake up any moment and give him a shy little smile – or maybe one of his wide and all-consuming ones. God how he missed those smiles.
Worst day of his life ~ ohhh, I love this fic 😂 it's actually a comedy
“You think you can manage on your own,” Carlos asked over his shoulder, teasingly, “Or do you need me to feed you as well?”
“Actually… that sounds rather tempting,” TK mumbled, narrowly missing the couch on his quest to find the breakfast bar without killing himself. Not an easy feat in his current state. “Are you offering? Cause I might fall asleep any second now.”
Yes I know, I went a bit over - hope you don't mind 😉
Come and play the WIP game with me 😊

What your favorite Digimon ship says about you
Seeing how well received it was last time i did it here’s another one. Once again, credit goes to @doubleca5t for coining this.
(only covers Adventure, 02, Tri, and Tamers)
Tai/Sora: You will be bitter about that epilogue until you draw your dying breath.
Matt/Sora: You don’t necessarily like the epilogue, but you appreciate the canon validation nonetheless.
Tai/Matt: Your ideal relationship dynamic is a bickering married couple.
Izzy/Sora: Your interest in opposites attracting is outweighed only by your lack of interest in Tai and Matt’s stupid shipping war.
Sora/Joe: Your ideal relationship dynamic is team mom/team dad.
Izzy/Tai: Your ideal relationship dynamic is nerd/jock.
Izzy/Matt: Your ideal relationship dynamic is nerd/goth.
Izzy/Joe: Your ideal relationship dynamic is nerd/nerd.
Tai/Mimi: Your ideal relationship dynamic is quarterback/cheerleader.
Sora/Mimi: Your ideal relationship dynamic is just girls being friends. Gals being pals.
Mimi/Joe: You’re always a sucker for opposites attracting.
Mimi/Izzy: Same as Mimi/Joe, except you actually liked tri.
Mimi/Matt: You shipped Tai/Sora, but didn’t want these two to be left out of the romance.
Tai/Kari: You have some…. interesting thoughts about episode 21.
Matt/TK: You never got over your “Ouran Highschool Host Club” phase.
TK/Kari: You’re always a sucker for characters who are perfect cinnamon rolls. And you probably really hate Davis.
Patamon/Gatomon: You are a firm believer in the inherent eroticism of the Bishonen-line.
Davis/Kari: You are a heterosexual man convinced that you can annoy a woman into falling in love with you.
Jun/Matt: This is just Davis/Kari, but with the genders reversed.
Davis/TK: You think that the best way to resolve a love triangle is by ignoring the axis.
Davis/Ken: You don’t understand people who say they wouldn’t date their best friend. I mean, aren’t you best friends with them for a reason?
Cody/Yolei: You never got over your childhood crush on your cute babysitter.
Cody/Davis: Your ideal relationship dynamic is that of a Vaudeville comedy duo.
Yolei/Davis: Your ideal relationship dynamic is that of Spongebob and Patrick.
Yolei/Izzy: Your ideal date involves getting your senpai to notice you.
Yolei/Mimi: You saw Yolei’s reaction to meeting Mimi for the first time and thought “I’m sorry, you’re telling me that’s NOT what a crush looks like?”
TK/Cody: You’ll take any hint of canon validation no matter how contrived it is.
Kari/Yolei: This is just TK/Cody but for people who are into femslash.
TK/Yolei: You are a firm believer in the inherent eroticism of silly hats.
Ken/TK: Ken and TK’s fight scene has lived rent free in your head ever since you first saw it.
Ken/Kari: You have read and/or written several fanfics trying to resolve the Dark Ocean storyline.
Ken/Yolei: You don’t understand what all the hate was about. That 02 epilogue was great!
Ken/Kaiser: Your answer to the question “Would you fuck your own clone?” is “Only if they’re evil.”
Kari/Meiko: Your answer to the question “Would you fuck your own clone?” is “Only if they’re a bottom.”
Tai/Davis: Your answer to the question “Would you fuck your own clone?” is “Yes.”
Matt/Ken: Looking back on your childhood, you can pinpoint Digimon Adventure as the beginning of your crippling addiction to edgy boys who have trouble talking about their feelings.
Arukenimon/Mummymon: You just wanted good things for Mummymon. And really who wouldn’t?
Oikawa/Hiroki: You just wanted good things for Oikawa, which I think we can all agree would have saved everyone a lot of trouble.
Tai/Meiko: You don’t understand what all the hate was about. Tri was great!
Mimi/Meiko: Your ideal relationship dynamic is sun lesbian/moon lesbian.
Takato/Jeri: You just wanted good things for both of these kids. And really, who wouldn’t?
Takato/Henry: You’re just here for some wholesome nerds.
Takato/Rika: Your ideal relationship dynamic is one partner that says “Based” and the other partner that says “Based? Based on what?”
Henry/Rika: You like the concept of opposites attracting, but not too opposite.
Rika/Jeri: You’re always a sucker for edgy anti-heroes who have one person they go soft for.
Rika/Ryo: You are a firm believer in the inherent eroticism of petty rivalries.
Kazu/Kenta: Your ideal relationship dynamic is the movie Dumb and Dumber.
Rika/Renamon: Looking back on your childhood you can pinpoint Digimon Tamers as your gateway drug to the furry fandom.
Any other Digi-destined/Partner pairing: You’re just here for some monster-fucking.
Renamon/Impmon: You’re just here for some 👏 MEN 👏 GETTING 👏 PEGGED!
Ryo/Ken: You actually played the Wonderswan games.

Day 5: Ridin’ solo-together!
It is time for Catie and I to go solo (together) through London. Melanie and James have resumed their work week and it is up to us to wander the streets of London Town. As Catie and I know how to set priorities, our first to-do in London is to find a café. At the recommendation of Melanie, we travel to 2 Love Tea and Coffee House. There, over a latte and a sickly sweet pastry, we make decisions about our day. Now that I know what a dongle is, and that I need it, one errand is to stop, shop and find one. After leaving the café, we try our luck at a corner tech shop and buy a supposed-dongle. Only to find later that I have purchased the incorrect chord. Curse you Apple!
In order to feel of some use to our hosts, we volunteered to do the grocery shopping. Making our way down the street, past a TK Maxx (not a typo-K!) and into the bustling store that is Lidl (pronunciations may vary). The store is sensory overload. Aisles fill with hungry shoppers as alarms blare for unknown reasons. After a bit of a struggle, we master the self check out and make our way back to the flat.
After getting groceries (and an incorrect dongle) we return to the flat and I laboriously return to my studies. Yes, that’s right world, homework.
We have decided to attend a comedy show later in the night at the recommendation of James. In order to make the most of the day, we head out early in hopes of checking out the surrounding area near the Comedy Store- which is a Comedy Club- not store.
We wander onto Trafalgar Square. This side of the city is much different from the parts of London we have been exposed to. Trafalgar is a huge square, with fountains, a large column, lion statues (which you should not climb) and street artists all about. We pop into the National Portrait Gallery, one of London’s many free museums and browse through paintings both lifelike and abstract.
After we’ve had our fill of portraits, we continue to explore, jostling between the many pedestrians, street performers, evangelists, grand monuments of unknown significance, and happen upon a small China Town.Though small, the sector boasts a great gate and store front windows exhibiting such wonders as rows of roast, orange-brown duck hung by their necks or strange fish-shaped cracker assembly line. I regret my lack of pounds as we see a rip-off Pikachu that I want to take a photo with.
I am also lucky enough to receive a free Quran and a brief yet interesting conversation about the prophet Muhammed. This side of town is much different from the parts of London we’ve seen up to this point. The streets were reminiscent of New York and reminded me of my dear Madrid. We meander in and out of stores to burn time until the show. Other points of interest include TWG tea store, Shake Shack (with London’s happiest worker) and the m&m Store. In truth, we grow a bit bored but fill our time with conversation and people watching.
When it is time for the comedy show to start we’re not quite sure what to expect. The show is an Alzheimer’s benefit and has drawn out quite a crowd. After purchasing a couple of drinks, we settle in for a two hour show that includes 10 diverse comedians. I must say, the diversity of London is endearing. Topics covered include Brexit, Trump, mother and fatherhood, racism and even more Brexit. I was at one point, pushed to the point of tears. I was quite impressed and pleased with the show. We certainly left feeling we knew a bit more about English culture.
After the show, we make our way to the flat, but somehow confuse ourselves on the tube. It’s not a true vacation if you don’t loose your way at least once. The delay makes for a late arrival back home and we creep in guiltily around midnight. I have a ridiculous amount of homework, but decide to stay up and edit photos and blog instead. And here we are.

Honor Rising Night 1 - 2/22/2019; Tanahashi, Okada, Naito Confirmed for Royal Quest
Strong Style Story Episode 49 on Pro Wrestling Only
The yearly trip for Ring of Honor to Korakuen Hall began today, and you can see it now on NJPWWorld. There were 3 title matches to be had here, as well as a feature match main event. Results:
Honor Rising: Japan 2019 - 2/22/2019, Tokyo Korakuen Hall (NJPWWorld)
Marty Scurll [Villain Enterprises] d. Ren Narita (Crossface Chickenwing, 11:33)
Zack Sabre Jr. [SZKG] d. Shota Umino (Kneebar, 13:56)
Jushin Thunder Liger & Jonathan Gresham d. Taiji Ishimori [Bullet Club] & Robbie Eagles [FREE] (Liger > Ishimori, Ground Cobra Twist, 5:27)
Juice Robinson [Lifeblood], David Finlay Jr. [Lifeblood], Tomoaki Honma & Toa Henare d. Jay Briscoe, Mark Briscoe, Tama Tonga [Bullet Club] & Tanga Loa [Bullet Club] (Robinson > Mark, Schoolboy, 12:14)
NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Championship: Togi Makabe, Toru Yano [CHAOS] & Ryusuke Taguchi © d. Colt Cabana, Delirious & Cheeseburger (Yano > Delirious, Schoolboy, 10:16) - Makabe/Yano/Taguchi succeed their 1st defense
NEVER Openweight Championship: Will Ospreay [CHAOS] © d. Dalton Castle (Stormbreaker, 17:30) - Ospreay succeeds his 1st defense
ROH World Television Championship: Jeff Cobb [FREE] © d. Hirooki Goto [CHAOS] (Tour Of The Islands, 13:52) - Cobb succeeds his 3rd? defense
Hiroshi Tanahashi, Kazuchika Okada [CHAOS] & Jay Lethal d. Matt Taven, Vinny Marseglia & TK O’Ryan (Lethal > Marseglia, Lethal Injection, 14:10)
Lethal declared that he would retain against O’Ryan in his ROH World title defense tomorrow. Cobb v. Goto was a banger. Ospreay v. Castle was good too; respect was shown after the match, and Ospreay reiterated a demand I neglected to report on yesterday, demanding a Champion v. Champion match against Jay White for the 47th Anniversary show. I really hope that isn’t the main event on 3/6. Young Lions were recruited as The Boys once more. MVP+Taguchi retain in a match that lives up to why I call these the Comedy titles. Juice gets a direct pin on a Briscoe before their title match tomorrow. Liger gets a direct pin on Ishimori before their title match on 3/6. Once again, it’s there if you want to watch it, but hardly essential viewing outside the two singles title matches.
Meanwhile, NJPW has announced that Hiroshi Tanahashi, Kazuchika Okada and Tetsuya Naito are all confirmed, with visas, for the Royal Quest show in London on 8/31/2019. It seems a bit early to be mentioning this so far ahead of time, when usually we don’t find out who will be in the USA until three weeks before the event. However, due to all the visa issues being experienced this year, and with Brexit just around the corner for the UK, it’s probably a good thing they’re getting this out of the way now. Tickets are not on sale yet, and no matches have been announced. Stay tuned.
Tomorrow we return to Korakuen Hall for the second Honor Rising show that will also feature 3 title matches, including an IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team clash.
- 2/23/2019, Tokyo Korakuen Hall (NJPWWorld)
Shota Umino, Ren Narita & Yota Tsuji v. Colt Cabana, Delirious & Cheeseburger
Toa Henare & Jonathan Gresham v. Zack Sabre Jr. & TAKA Michinoku [SZKG]
Marty Scurll [Villain Enterprises] v. Robbie Eagles [FREE]
Hirooki Goto & Will Ospreay [CHAOS] v. Jeff Cobb [FREE] & Dalton Castle
Tetsuya Naito & Shingo Takagi [Los Ingobernables] v. Matt Taven & Vinny Marseglia
ROH World Championship: Jay Lethal © v. TK O’Ryan
IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Championship: EVIL & SANADA [Los Ingobernables] © v. Tama Tonga & Tanga Loa [Bullet Club]
ROH World Tag Team Championship: Jay & Mark Briscoe © v. Juice Robinson & David Finlay Jr. [Lifeblood]

Tw- rant and explicit suicide talk and method
I had a good day yeah, I got sunburnt a bit but it was fun, I went to a comedy club, I just wish I'd gone with anyone other than my parents? Idk lots of couples were there and it made me sad? I am very sick of being lonely! Woo
I've been thinking about all the people that said they wanted to hang out with me and then just never did. It hurts because I get all excited thinking I'm finally gonna get to see someone and maybe like have friends and all but it doesn't work that way I guess? I'm shit at making plans sure but recently I've been the one trying to make an effort and it makes me not wanna try anymore because it keeps going shit and I'm lonely so people need to stop giving me this false hope of friendship and then taking it away.
I was thinking about when I was gonna kill myself a lot today, how I'd do it, when etc. Its something I've been thinking about a lot recently just in my day to day, kinda passively I guess? But I was thinking about It walking home from the comedy club and in that moment I saw a sign that literally said don't give up, you matter? Which is kinda cute tbh, it's weird I saw it right then? It didn't change my mind though I'm sorry to say, I've kinda decided that if it's gonna happen it's gonna happen? I'll know when it's time, I'm thinking some time after my mum's birthday for obvious reasons, not going to ruin that for her. Idk whether I'll plan it in advance or if I'll just wake up and know? My plan is to say tk parents I'm staying over at someone's house and instead go into town. I'll probably get drunk because then I won't pussy out of it, and I think I'm gonna go to the IKEA roof car park and jump from there late at night when nobodies around. Its hard because I don't really want anyone to have to find my body, but it's better a stranger does than my parents. Idk, I've also wondered about admitting myself into hospital, but I honestly dont see it helping. I don't think it'll do anything except prolong the inevitable and ultimately be a really boring and nasty experience? I just don't think it'll help me, but maybe I'll try it just in case? I don't know really. All I know is that I can't let things carry on the way they are, and I either have to get better somehow, or I don't wanna be a part of it anymore.

Live Picks: 2/14
Sharon Van Etten; Photo by Ryan Pfluger
BY JORDAN MAINZER
Choose to cry, laugh, or even sneer this Valentine’s Day.
Sharon Van Etten, Thalia Hall
If you had told me before her new album Remind Me Tomorrow that Sharon Van Etten was playing a Valentine’s Day set, I would have thought it was ironic and imagined it a social gathering for the brokenhearted. Well, it may still be that, but the latest and greatest from the gifted singer-songwriter/multi-instrumentalist is more generally self-reflective and nostalgic than reminiscent of a specific past experience or relationship. Instrumentally, with a bigger band in tow, her sound has ballooned to fill a space like Thalia Hall, a combination of synth pop, heartland rock, and spacious ambiance. While tonight she will likely play almost all of Remind Me Tomorrow, I’d be also dying to hear how she transforms other hits with room for expansion, like “Serpents” and the immortal “Love More”.
London soul artist Nilufer Yanya opens.
Panache’s Annual Planned Parenthood of Chicago Village of Love Valentine’s Day Benefit, Lincoln Hall
Tonight at Lincoln Hall, you can hear some of Chicago’s finest singer-songwriters and bands play love songs, all for a good cause that’s continuously under threat from those who don’t love humanity. The lineup includes post-punk band Deeper, rapper Femdot, songwriters Gia Margaret and Jeff Tweedy, singer/producer Knox Fortune, rockers Pool Holograph, artist/poet/activist Tasha, DJ collective Title TK, and “nap rocker” V.V. Lightbody.
Howe Gelb, Montrose Saloon
The title Gathered is the understatement of the century. On Howe Gelb’s upcoming album, he offers a plethora of guests and collaborators, covers classic songwriters and standards, and alludes to many of his past styles and genres in an album that somehow transcends pastiche and ends up being wonderfully all over the place. He’s got his trio of Lost Brothers-featuring, finger-picked, bluesy guitar jams “On The Fence”, “Give It Up”, and “The Park at Dark”. His sing-speaking recalls different inspirations, Bill Callahan and David Berman-like bluntness, on the title track and solo affair “Steadfast”. He continues the jazz obsession of his Future Standards sets with lounge acts: a cover of Leonard Cohen’s “A Thousand Kisses Deep” featuring M. Ward and a bossa nova arrangement, and the crooner “Presumptuous”, which, appropriately, sounds as if Cohen tried to take up lounge singing. The latter is a duet with Kira Skov, and Gelb is wise to let other singers have the microphone on similar songs like the smokey, Anna Karina-featuring “Not The End Of The World” and a rendition of “Moon River” wonderfully delivered by his daughter Talula. Gelb leaves space for even a couple instrumentals here, the straightforward rock of “Anna” and Spaghetti Western-tinged, strummed “The Open”. How he (presumably) adapts these new songs to the stage tonight in a solo set should be fascinating.
Scott Judd, guitarist and vocalist of local Americana band Tangleweed, opens.
Jamie Kennedy, Improv Comedy Club
Want something both classier and trashier than eating Valentine’s Day dinner at White Castle? Get a pricey dinner package and watch semi-serious mostly-bad-taste goofball Jamie Kennedy do a set in Schaumburg.
