I reread this again and it makes me think that Sui is quite kind and fun with his fans. What caught my attention is about the new cafeteria, information about the characters and the type of questions. Touka and the keychain also made me laugh haha thanks for the translation.

A translation megathread of the zakki:re Q&A contest letters Ishida sent back to winning contestants!

As far as I know there were 100 winners, though I only have around 40 in this post. There were more on Twitter, but some opted not to release them publicly on Twitter for personal reasons (such as if they asked personal questions). Some didn’t reveal their question, or all of Ishida’s replies, but I’ve tried my best to guess at their meaning if possible.

The ones I’ll post here are from Twitter, specifically if they came with pictures of Ishida’s art or handwritten replies. I’ll also mention some context if I felt that the conversation/topic between the OPs and Ishida was interesting.

If you see one that I missed, please let me know and I’ll update this post.

Color Symbolism

So let's talk about the color symbolism on Tokyo Ghoul √A ending eps 9 with Seidou's scene.

I think this art is really intriguing to me and also Ishida added the comment on Zakki:re

I'm gonna break down all the colors negative meaning.

(first I'm apologize if my English is messy, English isn't my first language, so bear with me!)

As we can see, the sky is black with red clouds.

Black always associate with death, sadness, fear, darkness. Also can represent the deepest need to have a power and control over the emotional insecurities.

Red associate with desire of power and often associate with anger, danger, impulse.

I think this could be link as the foreshadow of his transformation later.

Seidou is standing behind the yellow wire fences.

While the fence symbolize as an object, person or place that stands for (represents) psychological barriers, belief or value.

Yellow colors on positive meaning is happiness, optimism, honor. While the negative meaning is jealousy, cowardice, fear, emotional fragility.

And Seidou is seen with green on his face, and purplish on his body.

Green negative meaning is greedy, envious, judgemental

Purple negative meaning is immature, emotional, overly vigilant.

In this episode we see Seidou's emotional breakdown after he wrote the last testament.

Seidou seen holding the fence looking beyond with sad face with the black sky surrounding it. It tells a lot of what he feels deeply. He engulfed with fear of dying.

I still want Nishikimi to win because that's the reason behind this tournament but I figured that this poll gives me the opportunity to talk about HouTata so why not (<- this user talks about houtata all year round)

I like Houji and Tatara because they are fated together. This is a repeated word in every TG media.

According to zakki:re, the Houji and Tatara illustrations of Root A ending (the banner 9f this very poll) are called "Fate". The original word is 因緣 which can be translated as karma (the word chosen by the official English translation) or fate/destiny or... predestined relationship. Yes you heard that right

In re:birth, Houji's cards are called "Fated Showdown" (SSR) and "Fated to Chi She Lian" (SR). Source

In re:invoke, Houji's card is also called "Confrontation of Fate" and the event where we confront Tatara to get that card is called "Red Fate"

Their narrative are built specifically for each other and they are fated to fight each other to represent the meaningless nature of revenge which I love and hate at the same time. They are so horrible I hope they burn together in hell ❤

Also a bit sadder to mention, but OP’s maternal uncle passed away from esophageal cancer. Hearing that his son (so OP’s cousin) has all the TG volumes, OP borrowed the letter from his dad to show to his cousin, which made the cousin happy.

From 1st grade of junior high! I'm happy to hear that. It may look like a "butterfly", but specifically it's a moth called a mock swallowtail butterfly moth. I drew it to symbolize the difference between humans and ghouls even though they look similar.

I’ll just summarize what I can figure out here since so much of it is concealed.

Higemaru - I think OP asked about how Higemaru ended up working for the CCG because it talks about his history at the Academy and the Qs. Also that Hige really looks up to Urie and wants to keep working with him.

Akira - I think OP asked for advice on dealing with the difficulties with their transfer family, because Ishida suggests using phrases such as, “I see...” or “That’s why~!”. (The alternative is Akira giving Inoue-san (from the transfer family) a Mado Punch lol)

Uta - A personal question, in which Ishida mentioned something about how if OP realized they messed up, and doing what OP needs to do.
