Most names have been translated directly, with one exception. The score ranked 9 is "Pakkun" (Piranha Plant) in Japanese, with it being changed to "Toad" in the North American version. This is most likely due to the six-character limit which would have made spelling out "Piranha" impossible, and "PLANT" or "PPLANT" being too ambiguous.

Note also the inventive way in which "Nokonoko" (Koopa Troopa, rank 8) was spelled in the Japanese version, being abbreviated to "NOKO2".

Btw I'm reading some of the LMK "Monkie Kid Almighty Game Challenge" comic/activity book they released in China by putting through google translate. The designs def take more from the concept art stage of the show, and it has some cute character stuff sprinkled in, even if I can't read Mandarin so good.
