Color Symbolism
So let's talk about the color symbolism on Tokyo Ghoul √A ending eps 9 with Seidou's scene.
I think this art is really intriguing to me and also Ishida added the comment on Zakki:re
I'm gonna break down all the colors negative meaning.
(first I'm apologize if my English is messy, English isn't my first language, so bear with me!)
As we can see, the sky is black with red clouds.
Black always associate with death, sadness, fear, darkness. Also can represent the deepest need to have a power and control over the emotional insecurities.
Red associate with desire of power and often associate with anger, danger, impulse.
I think this could be link as the foreshadow of his transformation later.
Seidou is standing behind the yellow wire fences.
While the fence symbolize as an object, person or place that stands for (represents) psychological barriers, belief or value.
Yellow colors on positive meaning is happiness, optimism, honor. While the negative meaning is jealousy, cowardice, fear, emotional fragility.
And Seidou is seen with green on his face, and purplish on his body.
Green negative meaning is greedy, envious, judgemental
Purple negative meaning is immature, emotional, overly vigilant.
In this episode we see Seidou's emotional breakdown after he wrote the last testament.
Seidou seen holding the fence looking beyond with sad face with the black sky surrounding it. It tells a lot of what he feels deeply. He engulfed with fear of dying.

#when i read tg the rize mother symbolism was so jarring to me but recently i saw someone mention rize and makima together and it made me go#!!!!#because i hadn’t connected how much their dynamic resembles sometimes#how rize and makima both are introduced with the mc being attracted to it and following them for it but the more the story progresses it#they both take the role of mother/creators#also while i added the bit of kaneki and denji cannibalizing rize/makima its worth to mention that both scenes happen in complete different#context and denji eating her out of love would be more fitting parallel to kaneki killing rize and freeing her at the end but i find it#interesting still they both eat them even if kaneki its more in his mind#anyway nobody probably carws for this cus theres like only 5 ppl in this app still into tg#but whatever#mine#chainsaw man#tokyo ghoul

some reactions to the new page:
1. henry stop throwing potion bottles behind you challenge. girl that shit is about to chemically react
2. does frankenstein see the lodgers as like. the pick me gays of rogue science?? (ik there's actual analysis to be done here but I just had to say it)
3. that newspaper image...are those lodgers like the people that have been there the longest? oh man I already have so many lodger friendship headcanons I sense more on the horizon
4. all this talk about faces. does frankenstein think someone looks like someone from her past? doesn't rachel also have this problem? so many ghosts in this comic and we don't even have that many actual ghosts...
5. another thought I just had about the potions as I was typing this: umm aren't a lot of those supposed to be poisonous? 5.5. also the fact that he opened up his shiny glass cabinets and started taking potentially poisonous shit out of them right at the point where his very shiny exterior is failing him and his secrets are being revealed is almost certainly symbolism right? I can't analyze classic lit but apparently I can analyze webcomics
#tgs#the glass scientists#new page reaction#idk anyone want to meet me in symbolism world?#while I'm currently slacking off on reading beloved by toni morrison...

One random idea I think about a Lot is if Amon and Kaneki encountered each other at a church like,
A tip lands on the CCG's desk about a potential ghoul hideout/sighting at a church, nobody pays it much mind, they get tips like these all the time and there's really not a lot of details to it and they have bigger cases to worry about
Despite that, Amon decides to go investigate it because. He's not exactly Sure but he has. Not quite a Bad Feeling but a Feeling about it. Maybe some leftover intuition from Mado. And when he gets there and steps inside he sees Eyepatch sitting at the pews. Maybe he's kneeling there with his hands together, maybe he's just sitting there and calmly remarks that he didn't expect to see Amon here.
Maybe Kaneki was also pursuing ghouls that were hiding out here, or maybe it's just the two of them and they just Chat (maybe it's after the Lab Incident when Kaneki lost control of himself and he expresses his guilt over losing himself and how he can't really face his friends because of it), Idk !!
(Maybe instead this is all set in :re and the situation is flipped where Haise goes to investigate a church, either because of an anonymous tip or maybe Donato told him to, or hinted that he'd find something Important there
And at this church he encounters a Mysterious Guy who seems to recognize him a lot more than he does this stranger, maybe Haise starts visiting here regularly to talk with him because he seems to be kind and there's Something About Him, who knows,)
((What if both happened in the same universe because Amoneki Parallels Amirite))
I have so many more thoughts about things like this but I will leave it here for now, just. man,
I just think it could be both cool and very silly
#txt#tg#tokyo ghoul#amoneki#amoneki ramblings#yes i was raised catholic yes this is what i do with that upbringing sorry mom#i have sooooo so so so many thoughts about amonekis potential for religious symbolism/references it's one of my fav things about it#the list of Things goes on and on i could go about it for ages#just. you see it right. Genuinely, perhaps 99% of me, believes that the only reason Condal and Hess made HOTD Aegon a r*pist/have adult Aegon’s introduction the aftermath of the SA of a maid, was because they knew that if Aegon was just a drunk and a cheat—like almost all Westerosi men—he would be too tragic of a character not to root for, and they really couldn’t have that. No, Aegon has to be the monster to Rhaenyra’s saint, because if you took away the act that made him monstrous, he’s so easy to root for, and the TB/TG divide would be significantly larger.
Cheating and visiting brothels are quite common in Westeros, with the vast majority of male characters doing one or the other or both. Drinking is even more so. Aegon would still be palatable with either or both traits because it doesn’t make him worse than Rhaenyra. Rhaenyra had three bastards with Harwin because Laenor’s gay, so it makes her affair understandable and valid. Aegon was forced to marry his own sister as a young teen, and clearly despises the whole targ-incest tradition. Why is it a crime that he doesn’t find his little sister sexually or romantically attractive???
Aegon’s basically a Greek tragedy made flesh. The eldest son conceived to be a long-awaited heir, yet simultaneously cheated out of a birthright. Born wanted yet unwanted, the heir who is not an heir. Meant to be loved, yet raised without it, with a mother’s disdain and fear as his only companion. His father stopped wanting him sometime after his second birthday (probably around the time Jacaerys was born), and his mother never wanted him anyway. His mere existence is a threat to a crown he never wanted, yet nobody cared when they placed it on his head. He wants love but no one loves him, and contrary to popular belief, that lack of love didn’t just stem from adulthood. He was a little boy once too, who very much didn’t deserve that level of apathy.
Married to his sister despite his clear disdain for his family’s incestuous tradition. Forced to father children on her at the grand old age of sixteen (and she fourteen). The only thing he ever really loved was his dragon, and the children he had. And even those he loses to tragedy, and someone else’s doing.
It’s not at all a surprise that Aegon’s defining trait is his love for Sunfyre. A ridiculously strong bond, born from years of having only each other. Moreover, a dragon is the symbol of power, which Aegon has little of. He can’t protect himself from his own family’s abuse or machinations, and unless he claims the crown everyone he loves will die. Dragons also represent freedom, and the ability to just fly away. And if there’s one thing Aegon wants more than anything in the world, it’s to run away from his family and the accursed throne.
In that, he’s not so different than a young Rhaenyra (pre-personality change anyway). Young Rhaenyra hated having to conform to societal standards. Hated having no choice but to marry, and to whom. She too wanted to fly away to freedom. There’s too many parallels between the two, even down to their ages pre-timeskip. Rhaenyra was about 18, and Aegon now is only 20. Yet Rhaenyra at 16’s only problem was whether her infant brother would replace her as heir, while Aegon’s was being forced to play house with his sister and newborn twins.
Perhaps misogyny and society would always be Rhaenyra’s greatest opponent, and the same Aegon’s ally when it comes to their claims, but it was not the only issue. Precedent declared that Aegon would be heir ahead of her, yet it was Rhaenyra’s position and honor that Viserys defied law for, even when she committed high treason against the crown thrice. She got everything; Aegon had nothing. He’s the underdog of the story, not her. So had they not made him an on screen r*pist (unlike Daemon who was off-screen one and merely an on-screen pedo and wife-killer), it would’ve been very hard for the writers to push their “Rhaenyra good, TG bad” narrative. Those two would’ve had too many parallels and foils for it to work, and they really couldn’t have that, could they.
No, Aegon has to be the villain; Rhaenyra has to be the hero. It’s a black and white war, good vs evil. That’s the story HOTD is trying to sell, and not at all the complex tragedy of a family tearing itself and its dynasty into pieces over greed and idiocy.

I guess everyone is reacting to their parents' deaths in this arc. Dave's relationship with Bro has always been a little... complicated, so this should be a very interesting conversation.
TG: oh my fucking god […] TG: we just got done talking and agreed it would be awesome if you didnt bother me for a while […] GC: OH GC: TH4TS R1GHT GC: 1 FORGOT! TG: it was five seconds ago
Girl, get your damn timelines in order!
GC: D1D YOU LOV3 H1M D4V3? TG: no
I believe you.
There's something about the Strider brothers which I noticed a while ago, but haven't had the opportunity to talk about. This is the perfect moment to discuss it, though, because it explains a lot about why Dave is the way he is.
So - let's talk about the Strife fights.
When John first attacked his father with a hammer, I decided to roll with the assumption that this fight was symbolic, rather than literal. John loves his dad, and it can be safely assumed that he doesn't want to kill the guy.
Instead, this scene serves as a stand in for the familial strife between father and son. John finds his father's parenting style to be mildly frustrating, and their interactions sometimes feel like a fight to him.
Likewise, Rose (probably) isn’t actually going for Mom with those needles. Instead, their fight represents Mom’s 'ironic' negligence, and the gifts that Rose refuses to believe are from the heart. The Lalonde relationship is clearly more fraught than the Egbert one, but I don't think Rose actually wants to skewer Ms Lalonde.
Jade doesn't really fight her Grandpa, but their Strife clearly demonstrated how deeply in-denial she is - not about his death, but about the fact that her life isn't normal. She's desperately trying to have the same childhood that John and Rose are describing, but she can't, because she doesn't have a parent to bicker with.
Now, I'm sure you've guessed where I'm going with this. What, exactly, did Dave's Strife scenes represent?
Well...
...first of all, it's worth noting that Dave is the only Player to explicitly describe the events of his Strife to a third party. We've never heard John reminiscing about bludgeoning Dad, but Dave's constantly complaining about getting beaten up by puppets.
And - rather more worryingly - Dave is the only Player to retain his Strife injuries, even after this ostensibly 'metaphorical' fight is over.
In fact, one of those Strife injuries still marks him to this day.
The point I am obviously dancing around is that I don't think Dave's Strife was a metaphor at all. Unlike his friends, there's no pretense to these fights. They're literal. Dave's brother routinely attacked him.
Odds are, this was Bro's way of 'preparing' Dave for the game he surely knew was coming - but you don't need me to tell you that he took it way too far. The guy might have been Dave's assigned Guardian, but he really shouldn't have been raising anyone.
#homestuck liveblog#full liveblog#act 5.2#s148#3697#plus (as demonstrated above) Bro was pulling shit like this outside of strife as well. that baby scene was from terezi's POV

like who did this (me). who decided i was deserving of this (it was me i made the tracklist)
i need to stop putting my unreleased tmg tape on in the background it’s not good for my physical health
#i’ll just be vibing to you and me and a high balcony. and then suddenly if i can’t run away tonight i don’t know what i’ll do…………#tbh from tg&y has always affected me in a very particular physical way. it stops me in my tracks i don’t really know how to explain it#this tape is one of my best but also one of my worst. like any available surface is so quiet you can’t hear the words unless you turn it up#so high the tape hiss drowns them out anyways. which feels weirdly symbolic#& there’s a random two minutes of empty space where that hippolytine feeling SHOULD be but instead it’s just me talking for some reason.

this cookie is symbolism. (it's not I'm going crazy. I love TGS)
it's green on the bottom, signifying hyde and all the repressed bits of jekyll. a part of jekyll's true self because jekyll is both him and hyde, whether he wants it to be like that or not. the red on the cookie represents jekyll, specifically the part of him he presents to the world and others. from the top it looks like it overpowers the green (pic 1) but from the side it's clear the green is there more (pic 2). this shows how jekyll's true desires are there but are hidden and not presented as much. the green circular around the red represents the true desires (hyde) creeping in and wanting to be seen. that black spot on the red part represents a sliver of self doubt and jekyll's "perfect" persona slowly slipping and becoming hard to hide.
the black cookie represents jekyll as a whole. holding things together as best as he can. , but slowly falling apart as it’s too much to handle.

TG stans: “It’s so unfair how Daemon is given a free pass by fans, while Alicent is constantly criticized. They are both gray characters. Fans only forgive Daemon because he is played by a hot actor.”
No. No. No. And no.
You can try to spin it however you want but Alicent will never be considered a gray character. Not even the shitty show version of her.
Book Alicent - there is nothing to debate here. She is a greedy, manipulative upstart b*tch who got hers in the end. Evil stepmother and her evil sons perished. Happy ending. Bye bye.
Show Alicent - oh boy. Here we go.
Being a gray character often implies doing some pretty terrible or at least immoral things for the greater good. And a lot of other characters around them have a hard time understanding that what this gray character did was for the best. This character’s actions are often misunderstood and perceived to be done with selfish intent (and most of the time, greater good and selfishness overlap).
In what way does Alicent fit this description? In the show, she was driven by jealousy and resentment and done some pretty unnecessary and cruel things simply because she could:
1. Demanding that Rhaenyra’s newborn be brought to her immediately after birth. A disgusting display of cruelty. As a mother herself of four children, she surely understands the difficulty of labor, the vulnerability of a newborn baby as well as the immediate motherly instinct to protect her young (which is why Rhaenyra took the child herself, refusing to part with him).
2. Turning her children against Rhaenyra. As the Queen, and stepmother of the heir to the throne, it was her responsibility to attempt to forge relationships between her children and her stepdaughter, because this stepdaughter would one day be the reigning Queen and the fate of Alicent’s children would rest with her. But no, she was bitter, jealous and shortsighted and somehow thought that turning her children against Rhaenyra would somehow…what…do her family good?
3. Cheating on her husband by offering sexual services to a deranged clubfooted freak, in exchange for information. Call it whatever you like, but sexual favors in exchange for something is called “whoring”. I am not even going to debate this. No one forced her. This was her choice.
4. Taking a known murderer as her sworn shield for the single reason that he turned against Rhaenyra and that reason would benefit her.
5. Badmouthing children to their grandfather. The vendetta Alicent pursued against Jaecaerys, Lucerys and Joffrey is reprehensible. It was unnecessary, cruel and it certainly hadn’t done any good to anyone.
6. Showing up at Rhaenyra’s wedding in a dramatic manner and wearing the Hightower color for “war” simply because her ex-friend lied to her. Ironic, considering that she herself didn’t tell her friend that she was sneaking into her father’s chambers late at night, seducing him and getting him to marry her (I don’t give a damn that Otto made her).
7. Replacing the Targaryen heraldry with symbols of the Seven. Naturally, she couldn’t put up the Hightower symbols without “Hey look at me! I am committing treason!” written all over her face. Subtle, but it got the point across. And no, she wasn’t trying to “find comfort” or “honor her mother” or whatever bullshit TG stans like to invent. It was a strategic move through which she showed very clearly that she was turning her back on the House who made her everything she is.
These are just a few examples. If you take into account Alicent’s actions, none of them were done for the greater good. They served only her, and her own ambitions.
She married into the most powerful family in Westeros. She was a lady in waiting, a daughter of a second son from a low-ranked House with few prospects who was helping the Crown Princess dress.
When she married into House Targaryen, she was expected to remain loyal to House Targaryen. It was a privilege. One she completely disregarded in order to further the ambitions of House Hightower. It was Otto’s plan at first, but she pretty much took over in the long run. Simply because she was jealous and bitter. Because she didn’t know how to suck it up and accept that her father screwed her over, and her husband figured out their “master plan”.
Nothing about Alicent Hightower spells out “gray”. As much as the showrunners attempt to whitewash her, she remains the antagonist in this story. The war that started was one she had been nourishing for years.
Say what you will about Daemon but he is the very definition of “gray”. Whether or not his actions also benefitted him is irrelevant. His actions, although immoral and sometimes cruel, were for the greater good of the royal family, a House he belonged to, one he never betrayed. And despite the constant attempts of the showrunners to make him out to be the “bad guy” by pilling on him things he never actually did in canon, it still makes him look a whole of a lot complex and gray than Alicent ever will be.
Daemon is forever loyal to his family, and the House who rightfully holds the power in Westeros. Despite his actions, that makes him the anti-hero of the story. Alicent betrayed the House she married into, betrayed her husband, and committed high treason when she attempted to change the line of succession, for the sole reason that it benefitted her side of the family. That makes her the anti-villain (and I am being generous here, acknowledging the very few good qualities she possesses in the show, but her deeds are ultimately done in the name of evil).
And P.S: Let’s not pretend like the main obsession certain fans have with Alicent Hightower isn’t because she is portrayed by Olivia Cooke. If she were portrayed by a perceived-ugly/average actress, no one would be so quick to defend the character.
#Is it really that hard to understand why people love Daemon and hate Alicent?#pro daemon targaryen#daemon targaryen#anti alicent hightower#anti alicent stans#anti team green#team black#pro team black#anti team green stans#rhaenyra targaryen#house of the dragon#hotd#fire and blood#asoiaf#asoiaf meta#queen rhaenyra#anti greens

TGS UPTADE
okay so....
OH MY FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOOOODDDDD ITS HAPPEND IT ACTUALLY HAPPEND LADIES AND GENTLES AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
So, something I want to point out its Laynon´s reaction
This is when Hyde vomited, he looks surprise more than anything, it was something unexpected, of course
We didn´t see his reaction to the rest of the transformation, but THESE SPECIFIC PANELS....
Laynon expression changes, his eyes became darker and wide open, HE IS SCARE because he reconized Henry´s face... He saw his face, this is the specific moment when Laynon realised that this blonde fucker, cover and twisted in some kind of ugly green goop, its indeed Henry, the love of his life
And why he is scare? because this is exactily what fear for Henry to do, to risk his life, to put himself in danger, and the one way he fear it the most was doing it "in the name of sciencie" so he could end up like Frankestein. This is the moment that Laynon can confirmed, in horror, that his worst fear has become real
Henry is not a Rough Scientisist... he is a Mad Scientisist, he is not like Frankestein, he is worst than her
In Laynon´s perspective (And maybe also in the symbolism in the story), that´s why she admires him now and calls him "the greatest scientist of all time" Henry pushed himself to the edge by himself, and the worst part its that Laynon never saw it coming
