Day 10 brings us another recurring character from the Lovecraft Universe - Detective Thomas Malone And with him, it's just a normal Graveyard Shift in Arkham :) Good Thommy has a tough case on his desk again no doubt. It calls for the thinking tool - who cares about the tentacle monster outside the window anyway? :P ……I just realised the irony in the fact that I used the Peaky Blinders theme as music for the story flyby on Insta earlier XD

If you know my love for eastereggs and details from my comics, you can already guess that I had something in mind with the folders and the board behind Thomas. Unfortunately my scanner has eaten a bit of the board details.

Oswald would probably be the type of guy how says he hates kids but he absolutely adore Bruce

He would get invited to Wayne family dinner every weekend

He would hang out with Thomas and Martha often

Oswald would babysit Bruce and Thomas Jr. when Alfred, Thomas or Martha is too busy

Oswald would probably help Bruce with his Matches Malone persona, along with TJ and Alfred

Also I could see Oswald going full parent mode when something crazy happens with Bruce during a mission or a case and Oswald would immediately step in

As President-elect Donald Trump and his transition team announce selections for various government positions, multiple anti-vaccine figures with a history of spreading conspiracy theories about vaccines and COVID-19 have claimed to be consulting or attempting to consult with Trump’s team — including Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Trump’s pick to lead the Department of Health and Human Services — about public health policy. On November 14, Trump announced that he would nominate Kennedy for HHS secretary, implying that Kennedy would stop what Trump called “deception, misinformation, and disinformation when it comes to Public Health.” Kennedy, a former presidential candidate, is a known anti-vaccine activist who has spread a range of conspiracy theories — including conspiracy theories about 5G towers, Ukrainian biolabs, chemtrails, and supposed microchips in vaccines — and has associated with QAnon figures. Since Trump’s announcement that he would nominate Kennedy for HHS, anti-vaccine media figures known for spreading conspiracy theories have claimed to be consulting with the Trump team regarding HHS and public health policy.

Anti-vaxxer extremists are advising RFK Jr. and the Trump transition team about what harmful public health policies to propose.

(Entertainment Weekly) — We'll always have Paris, but for a time, it seemed as if we might not always have Turner Classic Movies.

Since 1994, TCM has aired films, uncut and commercial-free, 24 hours a day, all enhanced by monthly themed and curated programming, hosted introductions and conclusions (known as outros), conversations with filmmakers and talent, and original content. In its nearly 30 years of existence, the network has expanded beyond its already estimable remit as a cable network-meets-film-school, with fan events including a film festival and cruise.

The brand also plays a key role in global film preservation efforts. Restorations of bigger studio titles are typically done by the studios themselves, but TCM is more often than not the showcase for such work — both on air and at the annual film festival. TCM won a Peabody Award in 2008 for its "commitment to film preservation and restoration." 

In 2023 alone, TCM partnered with the Film Foundation and the studio to restore 10 classics for the Warner Bros. 100th anniversary, including 1932's One Way Passage, 1941's The Strawberry Blonde, 1959's Rio Bravo, and 1955's East of Eden, all of which screened at the film festival and aired on the network. Last year, TCM celebrated its expanded partnership with the Film Foundation with the premiere of a 4K restoration of the Elizabeth Taylor/James Dean/Rock Hudson epic Giant at the 2022 festival. (Going even further back, in 2007, TCM tracked down the rights to six "lost" RKO films, including William Powell comedy Double Harness and Ginger Rogers rom-com Rafter Romance, not seen in over 50 years).

But on June 20, all of that seemed to be in peril as news broke that the entire executive leadership team of TCM (most of whom boasted 20-plus years of experience with the network) were being laid off alongside other members of the staff. The latest round of layoffs, which network staff tell EW they were blindsided by, are part of Warner Bros. Discovery's continuing attempts to cut costs across the studio.

Some backtracking from the executives at WBD is alright (especially in terms of staff rehires and bringing back the TCMFF Director), but they cut away at something that wasn't broken to begin with!

Our next stop on the tour of UWM Special Collections' Shakespeare Collection is The plays and poems of William Shakspeare, in ten volumes: collated verbatim with the most authentick copies, and revised; with the corrections and illustrations of various commentators; to which are added, an essay on the chronological order of his plays; an essay relative to Shakspeare and Jonson; a dissertation on the three parts of King Henry VI; an historical account of the English stage; and notes; - what a ten dollar title! The volumes were edited by Irish scholar Edmond Malone (1741-1812), published in 1790, and printed by Henry Baldwin for a laundry list of booksellers.  

Malone is best known for his biographical Shakespeare research and chronologically collocating his plays in an essay entitled “An Attempt to Ascertain the Order in Which the Plays Attributed to Shakspeare Were Written” which is included in the Volume One Prolegomena of this collection. Additionally, Malone famously documented various spellings of Shakespeare and declared his preference in dropping the first “e” leaving us with Shakspeare. 

Volume one also includes a frontispiece engraving by Charles Knight (1743-1827) based on the Chandos portrait of Shakespeare, a copy of Shakespeare’s mortgage and will that famously bequeaths his wife his “second best bed”, and a preface by Samuel Johnson (1709-1784) mirroring an engraving by Thomas Holloway (1748-1827) that depicts Johnson and his contemporary scholars.
