What Do They Feed You? Pt. 2
Jason Todd x reader
A/N: Hey guys I know it's been like forever but I figured I should probably write something so here it is. A couple of you wanted a part 2 to my last Jason one so that's what I did. I've also been switching around my format because I'm trying to find a style that I like so just watch out idk. GUYS I'M UNCREATIVE I'M SORRY I FOUND THE BANNER ON PINTEREST :(
Summary: It had been almost a year and a half, and Jason had yet to accept any of your date proposals. You couldn't wait any longer. So, you decided to show him that you were serious, the only way you knew how.
Part 1 (part 1 is lowkey bad but it's whatever)

Time had flown by, and before you knew it, it had been almost 18 months since you joined Batman. Which also meant that it had been a little over a year of you flirting with Jason Todd.
Sadly, no matter what pick-up line you used, you could never leave the flirty best friend zone.
You never thought it would happen, but Jason Todd had exhausted all of your other resources and left you no other choice. There was no way you were going to let the man who was practically carved from marble slip through your fingers.
There was only one thing left to do.
Create a PowerPoint on why you would be an amazing girlfriend, and beg on your knees to let you take him on a date.
It was the only logical thing to do. And you had the perfect plan.
It took you almost two hours to make the presentation perfect. Nothing could go wrong tonight if your plan was to work, so you had to follow specific steps.
First, you told Tim and Steph the plan and asked them to take your patrol that night. They laughed at you for some strange reason, but agreed as long as you took some of their shifts, a necessary sacrifice.
Second, you cleaned your house and made it look romantic. You lit candles, bought flowers, the whole nine yards.
Then, you ordered his favorite food. You got all of his favorite snacks and drinks to make sure that he would not go hungry. He was a growing boy, of course, he needed his sustenance.
Lastly, you invited him over to hang out. You had to sound casual so as to not let him grow suspicious of your plans. So you sent him a text that a friend would normally send to another friend.
You: Hey hotstuff come over. I yearn for your presence.

Good. Everything is now in motion. With your great PowerPoint skills, there is no way you wouldn't be able to woo him.
A knock on your door had startled you from your preparation. With a deep breath, you turned the handle of your front door with a big smile.
And there he was. The hottest man you had ever seen in your life. You took him in from head to toe, admiring his beauty. He was wearing his black t-shirt with gray sweatpants. A zip up sweatshirt brought the whole outfit together. You dont think you've ever been so turned on by an outfit before, or so offended. You were jealous that those clothes were touching every inch of his skin and you weren't. What you wouldn't give to just be in those sweatpants place for 5 minutes.
Alas, now was not the time for that. You must focus. There is too much on the line.
"Hey handsome! Come on in I have something to show you!" You grabbed his hand and dragged him into your living room where the food was on the coffee table and the Powerpoint was projected onto the tv.
"Oh wow." Jason was stunned. He had expected some sort of flirty comments or obvious innuendo, but not something as over the top as this.
"You really spared no expense huh?" He was slowly looking around the room. Admiring all the hard work you put in.
You scoffed, "Well of course you're like super amazing and awesome and like one of the most important people in the world to me." You shrugged as if it was nothing, and Jason thought he might start crying then and there.
No one had ever put this much effort, for this long, to make him happy. To make it known that they cared so deeply for him.
"Now come sit down this is very important." You sat him down then grabbed your computer and stood in front of the tv.
"I bet you are wondering why I brought you here today."
Jason crossed his arms and huffed. "You tell me you yearn for my presence every day."
You rolled your eyes and gestured to him. "Well, can you blame me when you look like that? Exactly, now as I was saying-"
You clicked a button on your computer and changed the slide to a bright red one with bold letters that read 'why you should let me marry you'. Jason looked at the screen in shock with a wide smile on his face.
"This is what you brought me here for?"
"Yes, this is very important now, shush!" You clicked another button on your computer, and it slowly faded to the next slide.
"Holy shit, there's transitions and everything." His shoulders shake with the deep, gentle tone of his laugh. You stare at him in awe, completely struck by the beauty of his laugh.
"You are so beautiful, now stop, otherwise I'll keep getting distracted by your perfectness." A gentle blush appeared on his cheeks, and his smile softened. You may not have ever seen it, but he was enamored with you. He thought about you day and night. You never left his mind. Sadly, unlike you, he wasn't sure how to express these emotions. Jason feared that if he said something, he would just fuck the whole thing up.
He could not let that happen.
He would not lose you.
So, he stayed quiet. Through the first meeting, through the nightly patrols. He let you ramble through your poorly made presentation that took you almost two hours. He let you shower him with compliments about his physique and his hair. He let you list off reasons that he had already thought about on why you were perfect for each other.
He let himself take in how beautiful you were. He let himself admire your humor and your brilliant mind. He let himself fall in love with you, and he let you fall in love with him.
Because no matter how many times he told himself he didn't deserve it, you reminded him that you would never leave. That no matter what he saw when he looked in the mirror, he would always be the most beautiful thing you will ever see.
So when you finally made it to the last slide titled: 'Reason #38 On Why We Should Get Married', he stood from his spot on the couch and slowly made his way to you.
He gently grabbed the computer from your hands and set it beside him on the coffee table.
You looked at him with confused eyes as he grabbed it. "What are you doing? Didn't you like it? If you didn't, I can do something else! I bought your favorite food; I can go grab it! Just-"
He held your face with tender hands and forced your eyes onto his.
"I loved your presentation. I love all that you did for me today."
He softly stroked your cheeks as you held his wrists. You couldn't break away from his captivating gaze.
"And I love you. More than you could ever know. I plan to make up for all the time that I've missed just because I couldn't figure out how to tell you."
You smiled at him. "At least you never turned me down. I could never be upset at you either because I think you're perfect so you got lucky there."
He huffed a laugh before glancing at your lips. Jason could hardly hold himself back any longer. He pressed his lips to yours with the utmost sincerity.
You could hardly believe it.
He kissed you.
He kissed you.
After all this time of you pining over him and telling him the stupidest pick-up lines, he finally reciprocated.
Granted, you'll never know that every compliment, every line, every profession of love had him bright red in the face and falling deeper and deeper in love with you.
The kiss was full of love and passion and yearning. You wished that you didn't have to stop, but the burning in your lungs won.
You pulled away and looked into his eyes, overflowing with love. "You're a really good kisser." He laughed with a smile as he pressed his forehead to yours.
You balled his jacket in your fists and pulled him back into you. He grabbed your waist and gripped you tightly, not bearing to let you go. You wrapped your arms around his neck and held him to you. Your lips moved together feverishly, in hopes of making up for lost time.
He finally tore himself away from you. "Thank you for not giving up on me. Now, how about we take advantage of all the things you prepared today?"
Jason grabbed your hand and stepped back to the couch. He sat down and dragged you to sit next to him. You curled up into his side, and he wrapped his arms around you after grabbing the food you had bought.
The rest of the night was filled with talking, kissing, and spending time with one another. Jason finally allowed himself to have you, and there was no chance you were ever letting him go.

the turn from cameron and wilson being our house-related co-conspirators to it being cuddy and wilson is so fast you don't even realize it. you go from season 2 to season 3 and all of a sudden wilson and cuddy are around each other so much more, and the premiere of that season solidifies them as our new co-conspiring duo.
i think it's really easy to go through the entire show and feel like wilson and cuddy were close the entire time but... they weren't. prior to season 3 they had very little to do with each other. i wouldn't necessarily call it a relationship retcon; Meaning seems to imply that they had grown closer in the two months between the end of season 2 and beginning of season 3, and even before that with the date in Forever. but there is a very distinct jump in their closeness and likelihood to share a scene or scheme between seasons.
prior to season 3, it was pretty firmly cameron and wilson playing the roles of The Ones That Care About House--not that cuddy didn't care about house at that time, just that she did it solitarily--so i find it interesting that they all but completely ditched the cam/wilson duo for cuddy/wilson in this season.
the reason that i believe this happened is quite the boring one; cuddy needed more screentime, and it evens out the character dynamics. they're trying to solidify her as being a Main Character, now that she's getting her own storylines, as well as the fact that this season is the one where the role of 'love interest' for house undoubtedly shifts to cuddy, where it'll stay for the rest of the show. the closer cuddy gets to house, the closer she has to be to wilson. the less that cameron is interested in house, the less she feels the need to seek out wilson, and vice versa.
it's strange how unnoticable this change is when you aren't paying attention, though. because it doesn't come out of nowhere, it does build, it isn't like wilson and cuddy have never plotted before (hello! Detox!) or that cameron and wilson stopped having scenes together completely. it's just that things are changing. in a way that feels... sort of natural, so it doesn't really catch you off-guard. it's kinda jarring on paper, but in practice i think it works.
character dynamics are changing. character roles are changing. change is a big theme of the season, and though it's quite hammered in by the finale, it starts at the very beginning. with these two!!! there's a reason the first real scene of season 3 is of cuddy and wilson conspiring in her office. it's solidifing this change, without us even realizing it.

Still can't decide though, there are so many good scenarios, so maybe any of 4, 10, 17, 18, 23, 28, 38, 46 for Spirk?

It happened in the space of a moment.
First, Spock had been dead. Kirk had been sure of it. The transporter had failed at exactly the wrong moment, and where a Vulcan was supposed to stand, serene, on the transporter pad, instead was simply - nothing. Empty space.
Spock had beamed off the planet, yes, but he never made it to the ship. Dead not to some heroic cause, but mere mechanical failure, leaving his atoms scattered in the black expanse of space so very far from home.
It seemed cruel. Senseless.
Kirk had seen death before, many times, but somehow no loss had hit him as hard as this one did, an icy dagger between his ribs. All Kirk could manage in its wake was to grip the edge of the control panel with shaking hands, barely able to keep himself upright under the weight of the grief which knotted thorny vines throughout his chest.
Spock! Kirk despaired, a sob building in his throat.
But then, the transporter grated again into motion, a terrible whine leaving it as a beam of light slowly consolidating into a heartrendingly familiar form. Kirk stared, half agony and half hope, hardly daring to imagine it was possible. The beam wavered, then settled, and there he suddenly was - somewhat ruffled, yes, but upright and breathing.
The most beautiful creature that Kirk could imagine - Spock, alive! - stood at attention on the transporter pad, and Kirk could do nothing else but take him by the arms and kiss him. It was sheer animal instinct, urging him to grasp what once was thought lost and draw it close.
Those narrow lips were shockingly plush beneath his own, and Kirk basked for a moment in the heat of them, the air that puffed gently between them, proof of life. Relief and adoration spilled from Kirk's every pore as he kissed Spock, working to memorize the contours of his mouth.
Dimly, it occurred to Kirk that he had never done this before. He had dreamed of it, certainly, but never once had he actually kissed Spock. Idly, he wondered why.
Then, quite abruptly, he remembered.
He yanked himself away, a desperate apology tripping to the tip of his tongue, but when he looked up into Spock's face, instead of horror or disgust or stiff rigidity, he saw-
Kirk blinked, dazed. Perhaps he had been too hasty when he had called Spock's earlier appearance, "the most beautiful he could imagine," because this, he thought, might just beat it.
Spock's eyes were loosely closed, dark lashes fanning out over olive-dusted cheekbones. There was no crease between his brows, no mark of discomfort or frigidness which closed him off to the world around him. Instead, their slant suggested some far gentler emotion. His typical lipstick had long since worn away, exposing the natural sage of Spock's lips, which here held soft and slightly parted. Slowly, Spock blinked his eyes open, sending those lashes fluttering. Spock gazed at Kirk, eyes so lovely a brown, and Kirk's heart couldn't help but stutter in his chest at the sweetness of his expression.
Spock looked like a man who had just been kissed.
Spock looked like a man who would like to be kissed again.
Kirk's apology died on his lips, and for a long moment he stood frozen, simply staring, mouth agape. Then, Spock tilted his head, gently inquisitive, and time took effect once more.
"I'm, ah - glad you're back safe, Mr. Spock," Kirk said, looking down and coughing lightly as heat flooded into his cheeks. "I feared for a moment there that you were space dust."
"Indeed," Spock replied, dipping his head. Something almost like a smile sat in the corners of his lips, secret and teasing. "Your greeting was... most unusual, Captain."
"Unusual," Kirk mused quietly. His eyes were fixed just beyond Spock's elbow before he snapped them up again, scanning Spock's face for each telltale trace of emotion. "...not unwelcome?"
And, oh, it was beautiful to see how that almost-smile twitched ever so slightly wider, setting Spock's eyes alight with a subtle glow. "No, Captain," he said. "Not unwelcome. Quite the opposite, in fact."
"I see," said Kirk, and something warm and giddy unfolded inside of his chest, fluttering. A smile which he was certain Bones would call "sickeningly besotted" was spreading helplessly across his face; Kirk couldn't bring himself to try to stifle it. "That's - good to know."
On a whim, he darted forward, pressing another brief peck to the corner of Spock's mouth.
"Very good to know indeed."

Maybe by harming Bill or Killing Bill, that’s why Polly when she was initially gonna kill Stan, stopped and was immediately was like yep I’m a parrot, idk what that is but Imm that now
Because she didn’t realize Stan was the person to mortally harm Bill and once she did she was like OH FUCK I SCREWED UP
And then she is like oh, no it’s chill, he’s just a really sad man who’s trying mask the parts he doesn’t want people seeing. Then she’s like, this is my human pet Godkiller and anyone who looks at him funny will be my next meal.
Polly loves Stan dearly, and shows him this by doing habits that her species usually do when expressing it.
Unfortunately Stan is a human, who is unaware of these habits and thinks Polly is just being cosmic horror again
Stan: Ow!! Ow!! Stop trying to pull my hair!!
Polly: WHY IS HE BEING SO OBLIVIOUS, I LOVE YOU, YOU SMALL SIMPLE MINDED CREATURE, STOP REJECTING MY AFFECTION!
Polly sees Stan as a cat,
Stan sees Polly as a parrot for his own sanity.

Polly definitely just saw Stan and eventually just adopted him. that’s HER weird little flesh creature who is entirely too fragile and needs to be protected all the time, and also has the best snacks ever. and also killed God. she’d be in so much trouble if anyone else found out, so she simply will not tell anyone. simple solutions!
i love the idea of polly sharing the typical habits that her species have with Stanley, it’s fucking adorable. i imagine after Stan picks up some of her habits without realizing after so long not interacting with any other (friendly) creature, and after he get rescued at some point he’d just walk up behind Ford and start pulling at his brother hair. and Ford is just SO confused he jsut starts yelling at Stan until Stan realizes that Not Something People Do Typically.
and now Ford’s cataloguing Stans behavioral patterns too. Stan walks into the kitchen to grab a snack and Ford starts taking notes from the kitchen table.

5. Jealousy pt.1- seeing their partner wearing someone else's jacket
Hello again yourself! I suppose I shouldn't be surprised that this was the most popular prompt huh (゚ω゚;) Sorry I took so long to get back around to this one, I hope it was not too frustrating a wait I find it a bit difficult to wrap my head around Sebek.
notes: they/them pronouns used for Yuu, Rook is a bit dramatic (Trey), light injury but nothing descriptive (Silver), some misunderstandings quickly cleared (Sebek). The rest of the event requests can be found here.

Trey
"My beloved, hath thou truly forgotten me? Tis I! Your sweetheart!"
In a scene out of a particularly annoying, tropey rom com, the thought dead lover throws themselves into the... indifferent arms of a most unwilling extra around whose shoulders have been draped a lab coat to serve as a makeshift cape. Trey should be focusing on his strawberries, or maybe the grip he has on the watering can, but it is getting much more difficult to ignore the farce going on just out of his line of sight. Sure, Trey trusts you, he isn't worried you are going to leave him for Rook of all people he's just worried that you're uncomfortable. That's it. That's why he keeps glancing at the lab coat and not listening to the dialogue.
"Thine eyes doth not deceive thee?" You know you're supposed to put effort into line delivery, but you literally just got this script ten seconds ago so you hope Rook' expectations are low. "I hath been adventuring in a distant land these many moons, thinking only of returning to thee and thine-" your face immediately wrinkles "Rook I'm not saying this shit."
"Non non," Rook shakes his head, dropping character only for a second "You will not be saying them, your character will be saying them." He settles back into his role making doe eyes up at you as you swear you hear the sound of something snapping just behind you. Probably your patience.
"Thine eyes doth not deceive thee, I hath been adventuring in a distant land these many moons, thinking only of returning to thee and thine embrace." the script calls for Rook to dip you, but instead of Le chasseur d’amour you find yourself gently pulled back by your makeshift cape into the arms of a knight.
"Sorry," the "cape" falls to the ground as Trey spins you into a dip, complete with the lengthy kiss the script called for "but I don't have anything cool to say." And yet the way he holds you, the strain in his smile and the angry slit his eyes have slimmed to is very cool. Very rare is the sight of genuine frustration on Trey Clover's face, rarer still the glare. Rook is well and truly enraptured, and now it's your turn to feel jealous.
"Chevalier des Roses! I certainly hope I did not overstep-" That bastard is grinning, almost like he was deliberately trying to poke the bear.
"Of course not." Trey pulls you up, arm wrapped firmly around your waist. "I just need to get a new watering can from storage and was wondering if Yuu wanted to come with me." Ha "ask" as if he is intending on letting you go, his grip hasn't loosened one bit.
Silver
"I'm sorry we weren't able to be of more help, prefect." The kitchen ghost's mournful face looks painfully out of place, you're so used to seeing their big smiles you almost feel like you're the one who screwed up.
"It's ok, really! Please don't feel bad, I'm not going to quit just because we had one little accident." Technically, it was not a little accident, otherwise you would still be wearing your clothes and not a master chef approved chef's jacket, but in pursuit of enlightenment one must be willing to make a few sacrifices. If making coffee could be considered a culinary pursuit.
"I'm very glad to hear that," some of the ghost's usual pep returns, along with it his seriousness as an instructor "but no more attempts today, you hear me? Make sure to put a compress on your arm when you get back to Ramshackle and put some ointment on it. I'll never forgive myself if your burn gets worse." You give a mock salute, carefully cradling the single thermos of coffee you had managed to salvage from your lessons close to your chest with your non injured arm.
"Aye aye captain, I'll make sure to come back to pick up my shirt after I've changed." And you did fully intended to do that if you hadn't run into the exact person your little delivery was for on your way back to your dorm. Silver pauses when he sees you, with a strange tight look on his face you don't recognize that doesn't disappear as you get closer. If anything it gets worse, and he doesn't snap out of it even when you're directly in front of him.
"Silver?" You try one more time and he startles, face slipping back into his normal listlessness.
"Sorry, I don't really know what came over me." So he says, but his attention remains firmly fixed on the coat even if his look is passive. "I didn't realize there were Master Chef classes going on."
"Oh there aren't, I just had a small accident." You say, subconsciously reaching for your sleeve as if you can hide a burn by drawing attention to it. It's a reflex, much like Silver's reach, his fingers careful not to irritate the bruised skin. "Silver?" You ask, trying to find the words you need to reassure him.
"I don't like red on you." He says, so oddly serious it takes you a second to realize he isn't really looking at the burn, no his attention is on your chef's jacket and it's offensive Heartslabyul badge. "Sorry, I don't know what came over me... I should be more concerned about the burns."
"Funny," you laugh ignoring his embarrassment "I think green looks nice on you."
Sebek
Sebek isn't very good at saying what he means. You know this, you love him in spite of this. It makes him feel very lucky, and he has no real problem telling people this. Silver was by far the person who heard him brag about you the most, even if he attempted to downplay just how happy he was to be with you it wasn't like he could hide very much from his friend. Which was what made this situation so... confusing. Hurtful even, Sebek doesn't have words for what he is feeling because "jealous" just feels petty but "distressed" feels pathetic. And he is neither of those things. In his opinion. Because being jealous is something insecure people do, and he is not insecure nor does he not trust Silver.
So why then why is he in so much physical pain?
"Hmph, I expect short sighted napping from Silver, but I was starting to expect better from you." Sebek can't tell who is more surprised that he isn't shouting, you or him. Hell, his tone is so normal Silver hasn't moved from his slumped position against one of the courtyard apple trees. You had been lying on the grass, waiting for him he knows as a fact even if his hammering heart is doubting it.
"Sorry, I couldn't wrap my head around some of the figures Crewel went over in class so I was up late studying." You sit up as you answer him, Silver's jacket falling off of your shoulders and taking Sebek's narrow gaze with it. "I guess I lost track of time."
"Did you ask Silver for help." It's a question but he doesn't voice it as one, there's genuine hurt on your face that pushes him back from anger into embarrassment and shame. You just look confused, looking down at the coat crumpled across your legs then back up at his still on his person and-
Laughing. You start to laugh and the lightest twinge of anger returns firmly setting his face into a cross between a scowl and a pout.
"H-hey I'm being serious. I'm Lord Malleus's retainer, diligent study is not something I will scold you for! I can help you stay awake!" His begging just makes you laugh harder, which should make him angrier but you're smiling. You are smiling and the silliness of the situation really settles on him. Sebek talks to Silver about you all the time, of course Silver would be just as worried as he would if he found you asleep on the courtyard green. There is no challenge to his honor or ability as a partner here, just the friendly concern over the partner of a brother knight.
"I know you are Sebek." You stand up, scrambling over to return Silver his coat before falling naturally into you place at his side and returning his smug pride to his posture. "Can I ask you some questions about those equations? I remember things better when I picture them in your voice."
"Of course!" Said voice booms back to life, the shout finally doing it's job in cracking Silver awake. "Make sure you don't take your eyes off of me for a second, Yuu!"

" Passive - HP loss : The Fanged Temptress will occasionally drain anywhere from 0.1% to 1% of your health - This can occur up to 5 times on occasion, and will not happen again for a long while. -0.1%-1% HP Loss up to 5 times at a time Outside-of-Battle usage - Persuasion buff : Using the Fanged Temptress in conversation will sway the other party into agreeing with you, whether it be an argument or a flirt. what book were u reading?
revolution from within: a book of self esteem by gloria steinem. from the title you'd expect it to be just self reaffirming fluff but it actually goes into the familial, personal, and sociopolitical realms of self esteem and the thesis is that the white christian supremacist patriarchy basically crushes the self worth of all outsiders and even insiders who don't pledge submission to that hierarchy. BUT without being just a big long history lesson and has a lot of practical applications on how you can start to reclaim some of the true self that's inevitably lost in the society we're in.
excellent read. id recommend it to anyone particularly anyone who feels like theyre disconnected from their childhood fire? or find themselves repeating negative patterns. the book has a feminist slant but doesn't exclude men or other sexualities/gender identities it's kinda old so it doesn't touch on gender identities specifically but i found that the discussions about how trying to force everyone into a male/female binary ignoring that humans aren't that cut and dry to be welcome!

Playlist dissections for Time is a Flat Circle, Time’s Arrow, and You Can Always Come Home!!
TIME IS A FLAT CIRCLE
Titles:
- “The Heroine” by Unwoman
Used twice, for the title of chapter one, “Go through the emotions again and again”, and chapter six, “And this time I actually feel them”.
The first chap’s title is fairly obvious, He has to go through all of the emotions of the loop over and over again. The rest of the song is about an actress lamenting how she has the sympathies of the audience, but that someone who promised to come see her show never did. I feel like this is prevalent for our rancid little fella!
For chapter six, it’s a continuation of chapter one’s title. Beetlejuice actually has to start facing and feeling all of the emotions and hurt from the loops!
- “In Heaven (Lady in the Radiator Song)” by David Lynch
For chapter two’s title, “In Heaven, everything is fine”. It is from the movie “Eraserhead”! The movie itself is rather dark, and the song comes at a moment that the main character is considering that maybe heaven would be better than his current situation. For Beetlejuice, this pertains to how he is trying to convince himself that this is as close to happy as he’ll get, and that everything is indeed fine, even though it isn’t.
- “Dinner Is Not Over” by Jack Stauber
For chapter three’s title, “I’ve tasted dying and it tasted good!” The song actually promotes suicide prevention. The song talks about having many experiences, including a brush with death. The idea of death is very tempting to the person singing, but he says it’s “for desert” and he can “have it when dinner is done”. (Basically, yes death is tempting, but there’s so much more to your life to experience and look forward to.) It’s a hauntingly beautiful song, while also being uplifting and catchy! The lyric for the title in particular refers to how Beetlejuice’s own constant brushes with death and eternal rest is seeming more and more desirable with each passing loop, but he keeps going for Lydia and the Maitlands.
- “Devil Town V2” by Cavetown
For chapter four’s title, “Falling doesn’t feel so bad when I know you’re falling this way too”. SPECIFICALLY specifically V.2 because that is my favorite version. It’s about growing up in a tumultuous home, specifically being a child of divorce. The cyclical and downtrodden nature of the song reflects BJ’s outlook at this point in the story, but the title line specifically refers to how his pain is being lessened by no longer being alone in his suffering.
- “So Long” by Tokyo Elvis
For chapter five’s title, “Try to hold the breeze within your fingertips, It’s hopeless”. I can’t find much online about the song, but it has that good cyclical feeling I look for in songs for this fic. This line specifically refers to how Beetlejuice is trying to hold on to the fleeting joy he finds among the routine of the loop, but he can’t hold on to it forever. This song is also just soooooo time loop core, it’s insane.
- “Nobody” by Mitski
For chapter seven’s title, “And I don’t want your pity, I just want somebody near me”. Mitski was my rock throughout writing this chapter. (And the whole fic) If I had less self restraint, the entirety of both of the LoopJuice playlists would be all Mitski. I feel like this song, and the line I chose for the title in particular, really reflect what our sweet little demon wants deep down.
- “This Woman’s Work” by Kate Bush
AUUUGH. This song destroys me. For chapter eight’s title, “I know you have a little life in you yet, I know you have a lot of strength left”. Heavily inspired by a scene using this song in “Our Flag Means Death”, I listened to this song endlessly while writing this chapter. I believe it fits it so well for obvious reasons. My brain associates it very heavily with Barbara, but also Beetlejuice and his struggles to have “a little life” in him yet.

- “The Sword of Damocles” from “Rocky Horror Picture Show”
He talks about the sword of Damocles in the original show, and he feels a sort of constant dread in the fic, heheh.
- “What If Tomorrow Comes” from “Black Friday”
Funny story, this was almost the title of chapter 8! Originally, I had the idea of it ending on a cliffhanger of whether the time loop actually ended or not. That was in very early stages of Loopjuice’s development though, before I decided on making Time’s Arrow. Still holds up to me, with their anxious countdown there at the end!
- “Last Words of a Shooting Star” by Mitski
If you know what this song is about, it makes quite a lot of sense for chapter 8.

Him thinking this is the end of himself, expressing his care for the others, especially Lydia.

For when he was so sure he was dying! Also some of the lyrics hurt hard if you think of them from the others’ POVs.

In my mental animatic, this is him singing with Lydia, forcing himself to go through the motions each loop to keep her happy. Also, “Hold me, I’m a pale machine, life is just okay out here, anyone can see, I’m lonely”

Ough. It’s hard to elaborate on this one without going beat-per-beat with the animatic I’d make if I had the skills.

- “Goodbye, My Danish Sweetheart” by Mitski
For chapter one, “There’s some kind of burning inside me, It’s kept me from falling apart”. The song itself fits more with Time is a Flat Circle and chapter nine of this fic, but the selected line specifically is meant to refer how to Beetlejuice is unknowingly reflecting on his deep yearning to be seen and heard and understood, and how it impacted his relationships and his self worth.
- “Mt Washington” by Local Natives
For chapter two, “Digging like you can bury something that cannot die, We could wash the dirt off our hands now”. Both literally relevant and thematically relevant! Beetlejuice is digging for no apparent reason, to Lydia. She doesn’t know he can die, so to her, it’s useless, and they should just go home and wash up. For Beej, he’s trying to “bury something that cannot die”; his guilt, his dread, all his Feelings. You can wash your hands, and try to bury it, but it will not die.
- “A Mask of My Own Face” by Lemon Demon
For chapter three, “A mask of my own face, I’d wear that”. I feel like this one is perhaps the most self-explanatory of the chapter titles, haha. He’s wearing a “mask of his own face”, or putting on a show of a version of himself for the others.
- “Hey, Little Songbird” from “Hadestown”
For chapter four, “Suddenly, nothing is as it was, Where are you now, Orpheus?”. I’m sure we can all connect the dots with this one. Rattlesnake vs songbird, but really, wolf vs lamb.
- “Good Luck, Babe!” By Chappell Roan
For chapter five, “Good luck, babe! You’d have to stop the world just to stop the feeling”. Pretty literal and self explanatory. Beej is trying to bury all of those pink fuzzy Feelings, but that’s impossible.
- “No Children” by The Mountain Goats
For the first half of chapter six’s title, “I hope I cut myself shaving tomorrow, I hope it bleeds all day long”. Two songs for the two very different vibes! This first half reflects how Beetlejuice was relying on pain to distract him from his Feelings. Also, “No Children” is a good song for Beej in general, for a few of his past relationships.
- “Samson” by Regina Spektor
For the second half of chapter six’s title, “You are my sweetest downfall”. Basically, Beej admitting to himself that the Maitlands are his “downfall”. His Feelings for them are fatal, in his head. Also this song just fits Beetlands so well to me, oh my god.
- “Strawberry Blonde” by Mitski
For another split chapter! This is the first half of chapter seven, “I love everybody because I love you!”. That fits the majority of the chapter, and how his new official relationship with the Maitlands fills him with so much warmth and joy to spread to others.
- “Gross” by Penelope Scott
For the second half of chapter seven, “But I’m just a chemical compound, You’re just the gun in my mouth”. Good contrast to the other song, and between his relationships. Beetlejuice is just a being, trying his best, and he knows Cyrus will be the “death” of him. This whole song is sooooo Beetlejuice and Cyrus core, it’s insane. Also it goes HARD.
- “October Passed Me By” by girl in red
For chapter eight, “October passed me by just like any month”. Very extremely literal. October passes him by in a blur, as does the rest of the year shortly after. This song is also a personal dagger to the heart for me, and LoopJuice is based on me, so it hurts him too, lol.
- “Never Love an Anchor” by The Crane Wives
For chapter nine, “I am selfish, I am broken, I am cruel, I am all the things they might have said to you”. This song is sooo. Beetlejuice. Beetlands. LoopJuice. I’m obsessed with this song. This title is him worrying about what the others think of him, and what they will say about him after he’s gone. How he feels so horrid for what he’s done, and believes wholeheartedly that he deserves it for his actions and such. I love you The Crane Wives!!
- “Anthems For A Seventeen Year-Old Girl” by yeule
For chapter ten, “Used to be one of the rotten ones and I liked you for that, Now you’re all gone, got your make-up on, and you’re not coming back”. Haha, get it? Because this chapter’s from the POV of a 17 year-old demigirl? Also, it is meant to reflect their relationship and her mental space throughout it. The dream-like quality of the song is meant to mirror how confused and adrift Lydia feels here. Also, “I Saw The TV Glow” is very important to me and to this fic series in general, hence the constant references to it.
- “Wait For Me (Reprise)” from “Hadestown”
For chapter eleven, “Wait for me, I’m comin’, Wait, I’m comin’ with you”. Either from “Wait for Me” or “Wait for Me (Reprise)”, both work! Mostly the first one. Pretty obvious, and blatantly connected to the “Hadestown” / Orpheus and Eurydice through line!
- “Flowers” from “Hadestown”
For chapter twelve, “Flowers, I remember fields of flowers”. Now we’re seeing our Eurydice’s perspective! Very literal. At one point, all Beetlejuice can remember is flowers.
- “Everything Stays (feat. Olivia Olson)” from “Adventure Time”
For chapter thirteen, “Everything stays, But it still changes, Ever so slightly, daily and nightly, In little ways, when everything stays”. Thank you Cosmo! The vibe of the song “Today Today” by Jack Stauber really fits this chapter, as I hear the ending as a happy reunion, and I’ve been planning to use it for this chapter for forever. Unfortunately the lyrics don’t fit, so I went with the next best song! Also, Beej has changed quite a bit. In little ways and big ways, but still he (and everyone) stays.
- “First Love/Late Spring” by Mitski
For chapter fourteen, “So please hurry leave me, I can't breathe, Please don't say you love me”. It’s meant to reflect Beej’s crushing guilt and turbulent mental state.
- “Claw Machine” by Sloppy Jane
For chapter fifteen, “But my heart is like a claw machine, It’s only function is to reach, It can't hold on to anything”. This song works well for both LoopJuice and Corpsejuice. I wanted to tie the “I Saw The TV Glow” themes back in again, and to reflect how Beej still holds a negative image of himself and his ability to hold onto relationships. Hopefully, that image changes soon, wink wink! Also this song fucks. It goes so hard. The whole soundtrack for that movie does.
- “Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want” by The Smiths
For chapter sixteen, “So for once in my life, Let me get what I want, Lord knows, it would be the first time”. Because gets what he wants in this chap :) (Also listen to that song and think of LoopJuice if you wanna cry a bit.)

For chapter seventeen, of the same title. This is the first and probably only LoopJuice chapter to not have lyrics for the title! Instead, it’s from a song title. It is one of the gentler songs on the LoopJuice playlists, and reflects more feelings of acceptance and uneasy peace.

Give this song a listen. It doesn’t quite fit LoopJuice, but the idea of “heavy is the cost” fits well.

crying whenever i talk about Cookie9 because all my friends have these interesting and unique theories on them while i take everything too literally and they all just stare at me like “dude… uuugh we r TIRED” <-they dont actually say this they are very kind to me but i can Feel It

WOOO chapter 3 is up!!!
Summary:
“HOLY SH-” Miles and Gwen simultaneously turned to cover Pav’s mouth so as to not alert the creature in the middle of the carnage below them. The creature either didn’t hear him or it was too preoccupied with whatever it was doing. To his regret Miles soon realized what that was, as another wet snapping noise broke the silence once more. The creature was crouched down on all fours over what Miles assumed was the body of an officer, though it was so mutilated that it was hard to tell for sure. Its head was buried into the chest of the body beneath it, another wet snapping noise emerging as it pulled out a couple of ribs between its bloodied jaws... Or The Spider-Gang goes looking for Hobie. They don’t like what they find.

[There’s a video. It appears to have been recorded by Kinkajou’s Rotom phone. Watch?
Kinkajou is at the wall that separates the Wild Area from Hammerlocke. Mango the Eevee is fainted on Kinkajou’s back. She doesn’t seem too heavily hurt.
Kinkajou begins to fly, Mango slipping off on Kinkajou’s back. Mango falls off, and Kinkajou turns around and catches her midair with her talons. Kinkajou says something in Dragon, which just sounds like roaring and growling to the average human.
Kinkajou flies above the Motostoke wall, she camouflages her scales, causing her to seemingly disappear. This results in it looking as if an unconscious Eevee is somehow floating over the Motostoke entrance.
They land in Motostoke, right in front of the Pokémon center. Kinkajou’s scales return to their normal colors, showing that Kinkajou is too big to enter the building.
She pokes her head in and calls out in Dragon, holding out Mango.
The people inside, reasonably, are afraid of the weird gigantic new Pokémon that none of them had seen before that was also roaring and growling.
Kinkajou pauses for a moment, and then says, in Galarian, “Help.” She nods at the unconscious Eevee.
Most of the people in the Pokémon center just stare at Kinkajou.
Then the nurse there picks up Mango. They look up at Kinkajou, nods, and takes the Eevee to the back of the center.
A few moments later, they come back, Mango following. “Alright, this Eevee should be all good now.”
Mango runs over to Kinkajou, making happy sounds.
Kinkajou smiles and says something in Dragon, then stops, trying to remember something. “Tankyu!” She calls.
Kinkajou removes herself from the doorway and flies away, Mango riding on her shoulder.]

Here are a few drawings (two new and one old) of a character from Strange Fascination: A Love Story, named Serafina. (When I first created her, she had the last name Moonrise, but since I decided that Stardust is not Ziggy’s real last name, I think I might change Serafina’s last name to something that’s a little less space-y.) Serafina is a character we don’t know much about, since only Ziggy knows her, and they haven’t spoken or seen each other for a long time, not since Serafina broke up with Ziggy after delivering some ominous news to him. Currently, she exists only in Ziggy’s memories… but will we eventually meet her in the story? Time will tell.
While I can’t say much about Serafina and Ziggy’s history together, I can say that she is an accomplished musician just like he is, only her main instrument is the Visi-Sonor (an instrument I stole from Isaac Asimov’s Foundation series). The Visi-Sonor creates holographic images while being played to shock and delight audiences. Besides music, Serafina is also passionate about gardening, especially since her garden is her main way to provide for herself and her family. She and Ziggy met a festival and quickly fell in love. What happens next is a story better told when Strange Fascination’s hiatus comes to an end.
