Regulus likes routines. He likes order and consistency, and normally he puts in a lot of effort to maintain that order and consistency.

But this routine? This routine is effortless and happened so naturally, Regulus almost didn’t realize it had become a routine at all.

A soft yawn breaks him from his thoughts, and he looks up to see James padding into the kitchen. Regulus just finished making two mugs of tea and slides one to James. James leans down and kisses Regulus’ temple before taking a sip of his tea and hums in approval.

“Morning, love.” James says in his beautiful, husky morning voice.

“Morning.” Regulus whispers and wraps his cold hands around his warm mug.

“Pancakes?” James asks.

“Blueberries?” Regulus tilts his head up to look at James.

“Yes, blueberries.” James runs his finger down the tip of Regulus’ nose.

“Then, yes, pancakes.” Regulus scrunches up his nose and smiles at James.

James leans down and kisses Regulus before walking over to the fridge.

Regulus takes a sip of his tea and smiles fondly as James gathers the ingredients for them to make pancakes together.

It might be a simple routine. An effortless routine. But it’s Regulus’ favorite routine.

-For someone who's technically a fish, Rafayel over here sure acts like one of those clingy marsupials, always hanging onto your arm and nuzzling into it whenever you're spending your downtime together.

-Loves to be touched, not like that you perv especially when it comes to headpats. He loves them. Pat his head and ruffle his hair, he's in heaven every time you do it.

-Silently freaks out whenever you come across a cat in the streets and will not hesitate to use you as a human shield.

-Can help you figure out what to wear when you're at a complete loss. His artistic ability enables him to pick out outfits whose colors complement each other.

-Also helps you choose the perfect color makeup to wear with your outfit because he can see the subtle nuances within the pigment that you cannot.

-Doesn't hesitate to buy you anything you want, price tag be damned.

-Loves to see you in fancy clothing because 1) He thinks you look absolutely stunning in them, and 2) It serves as inspiration for his next masterpiece.

-Speaking of which, you'd better have really strong laundry detergent and mopping chemicals because this bitch is gonna have paint everywhere. There's no way anyone can spend so long painting and be perfectly spotless. No. Not happening, ignore what the footage shows. He'll be absolutely covered in paint, so will his clothes and the floor.

-Takes a long time in the bath because he loves to splash around in the water. He may also be playing with your skincare products but there's no proof of that.

-Bought a set of fish patterned pajamas for the both of you. Sometimes, while you're wearing them, he wraps your legs up in a blanket and goes "Look, you're Lemurian now!"

-Pouts to get his way, and it's so heart-meltingly adorable, you can't help but give in.

idk why i thought ab this but imo adler isn’t huge on pda BUTTT he is serious about silent gestures of care + affection. being cia means his head is perpetually on a swivel buttt when it comes to the mundane he is constantly in tune with what you want and need, from the superficial to the serious.

dress you did a double take at past a boutique? it’s mysteriously hanging in your closet the next time you get dressed. he hears you sigh to yourself about the leaky faucet? it’s fixed, though you never recall touching it. you start waking up every day with a crick in your neck? hm, suddenly you swear these pillows somehow feel more plush, more comfortable, different. obsessing over a certain song you keep hearing on the radio? somehow you find the whole album in your record collection.

foot rubs without question after you take off your heels you’ve worn all day; dishes washed and house cleaned even though you’re sure you’ve both been busy at work; quietly doing up a button on the back of your dress without even telling you that you’ve missed it.

he’d spoil you to heaven and back in the tiniest ways and you won’t even notice it enough to insist that you don’t deserve it. somehow, you just think life got strangely easier when adler walked into it.
