never gonna understand the argument that Katara didn’t love Aang or something.

Katara was 100% more physically affectionate toward Aang. She almost always initiated their physical contact.

She also expresses clear jealousy over him as early as ep4 at Kyoshi Island lol. Aang was literally right when he said “you know what I think? I think you don’t wanna come because you’re jealous” 😂 SHE WAS

Katara was hesitant to start a romantic relationship with Aang because of the war, not because she lacked romantic interest in him. I mean, she quite literally says this on screen.

This is another thing that confuses tf out of me. How can anyone actually watch that scene in Ember Island Players and think it translates to “Katara doesn’t like Aang and is gently rejecting him” ?????

Katara 1) denies viewing Aang platonically and 2) straight up says her reasoning for not pursuing a romantic relationship with him after they kissed during the invasion is because the war is still going on and 3) she then continues by saying she is confused about WHEN they can be together if ever.

Both of these characters expected the war to already BE over. That was why Aang kissed her at the invasion, at least partly. Also partly because, yknow, he could’ve died and never gotten the chance. Which also brings up another thing, the argument that she rejected him kissing her then?

This isn’t true. Katara very much did kiss him back. But once it was over, and once he was going to leave her and face what could’ve easily been certain death, she looks upset. Not really difficult to understand why she looks that way, considering Aang did just tell her “what if I don’t come back” right before said kiss. Katara has already witnessed him die right before her eyes. This is a difficult topic in their relationship. And that fear of losing Aang continues to keep her away from their romantic relationship until she finally feels safe to express it at the end of the show.

Aang’s actions are also not difficult to understand at all. He confronted Katara during that play after she sought him out. He never asked her to follow him. And the only reason he confronted her was bc he was feeling 1) super insecure bc of the play’s depiction of everyone in their group and 2) bc he’s about to face the world’s greatest military force and their leader on the anniversary of his entire people and culture’s genocide completely ALONE and could very easily be killed.

Aang shouldn’t have kissed her at the play. No one says he should’ve and he reprimands himself afterwards. With that being said, though, it’s totally understandable as to why he does kiss her, that being that he’s afraid he is going to die again and he wants to express that he loves her before it happens. Also, the fact that Aang wasn’t there for his own people is surely a driving factor in how he expresses love to others afterwards, that being that he feels the need to “be there” so to speak. And “being there” in this moment is showing Katara that he does love her, and the only way he rlly knows how to is to kiss her bc words did not work.

Like… idc if ppl like the writing or not. Acting like it’s some huge mystery or impossible to comprehend is you essentially saying you’re dumber than the 6 year olds that watched ATLA 😭 like how could I at 11 completely understand this whole thing yet these grown ass adult women can’t wrap their minds around it for even a second? Like it’s actually sad lol

So!! I absolutely consider her a part of the family. Ghostbusters are incomplete without her, she’s not just a secretary or a friend - she’s family. Can’t exclude her. When it comes to dynamics, let’s see.

Egon: hot take but I actually really like them as a romantic couple, they are T4T sapphics in my mind 🫶 however, they would never be the stereotypical “dates, kissing, parents, marriage, kids” couple, that’d be a terrible mischaracterisation. Their dynamic is about their mutual bond, care and love for each other rather than all the conventional relationship stuff. They know they love one another and are always there if the other needs help - and that’s what matters.

So basically they are in love, but more in an qpr way (or maybe I’m just aroace and I write all relationships like this lol)

Ray: best buddies! There aren’t super many moments with them interacting 1 on 1 in the show, but from the ones we see it’s obvious that they care a lot for each other while being close enough to sometimes be more strict than you’d be with your colleagues. When it comes to headcanons I imagine Janine would get a motorbike later in life (and I mean like way later, in her 50-60s) and Ray would teach her basic machinery to look after it. Additionally, I imagine they could cook together for the whole team and would enjoy decorating the Firehouse for holidays.

Peter: best friends, bffs, that type that are ready to choke each other at times and constantly poke fun at one another, while simultaneously caring a lot and loving each other to bits. That’s just how they are in canon, I don’t even need to add anything. Just gonna say that I love how they wrote the “always looking for a gf” male character and a female character’s dynamic to be completely non-romantic and not weird. Especially in the 80’s. I adore them ❤️

Winston: the level-headed gang. I imagine they’d be the ones always rolling their eyes fondly at the others’ antics bc they just get too crazy with it sometimes. They both love reading and I can see them chatting about books or solving crosswords together.

So yeah, I really really love them & Janine is definitely a very important part of the group dynamic!! Janine Melnitz, you are loved!!!

do you have any tips on writing? i wanna start my own blog and start writing, but im not sure where to start and how to make it sound good.

ofc! i do wanna preface by saying i’m by no means an expert, and when it comes to writing (or any form of creative expression) a lot of it is very subjective, so there’s not really any set standard for your writing to be considered “good” outside of basic writing/grammar rules! that being said, here are some things i do!

first just a few basic rules:

1.) start a new paragraph each time someone different is speaking

e.g. “What’s that?” she asked, tilting her head in the direction of the other room.

He squinted, taking a moment to listen carefully before another dull thud echoed through the door. “Not sure,” he replied. “Let’s check it out.”

2.) when seperating dialogue, don’t capitalize dialogue tags, treat the text in quotations and outside of quotations as if they’re the same sentence. this is one i didn’t learn until quite recently actually…😭

e.g. “Oh my God,” she muttered. “Why are you so difficult?”

The exception to this would be if the dialogue is seperated by a different sentence!

e.g. “Oh my God.” She was clearly fed up, running a hand down her face with a huff. “Why are you so difficult?”

3.) when a character is quoting something within their dialogue, don’t use quotation marks (“”), use apostrophes (‘’)

e.g. “He told me “do what you want”, so I will.” (this is wrong)

“He told me ‘do what you want’, so I will.” (this is right!)

as for writing tips, these are just some things that i personally do when i write! they’re not necessarily the right way to go abt it, so only follow the advice you want! i also talked a bit abt motivation here

include actions w dialogue! this can keep things from getting monotonous (like a constant back and forth of “he said” “she said” with little in between) and can also emphasize what the characters are saying! for example, instead of writing “he replied dismissively” you could say “he replied, giving a dismissive wave of his hand” or instead of “she said in exasperation” you could say “she rolled her eyes as she spoke” just little things like that to enhance the dialogue. ofc, keeping it simple is necessary sometimes so don’t overdo this!

that brings me to another point, adverbs aren’t bad (i use them a lot!) but sometimes what ur trying to say could be better expressed with just one word. it can get a bit repetitive if things are always described like “said awkwardly” “laughed loudly” “touched softly” etc. you might be able to find a word that gets the point across better. for example, “said irritably” could be “huffed”, “walked casually” could be “sauntered”, “smiled brightly” could be “beamed” and so on. but there are plenty of cases where adverbs are super useful so definitely don’t avoid them altogether!! i just try to make sure i dont use a bunch in a row

simple dialogue tags like “said” “asked” “replied” are your friend!! don’t avoid using them just bc they might seem generic hehe esp if you’re substituting them w verbs that are less appropriate simply for the sake of not using “said”

sometimes, you’re better off not including dialogue at all! like the whole premise of “show, don’t tell”, spelling out every last thing for the reader can sometimes work against you. body language and cultivating an atmosphere is key here! if it’s an awkward situation, you could bring up someone averting their eyes, shifting from side to side, playing with their fingers etc. if it’s a serious situation, you could mention their tensed shoulders/facial expression, their jaw clenching, them pulling away when someone tries to touch them etc. that in itself tells a story! but once again, it’s just abt using methods like these at the right times. sometimes, exposition is necessary

if ur writing abt skz, or any muse really, i think including mentions of their features/habits makes it more fun to read! it can help immerse the reader if u bring up traits that capture the character’s essence, or speech patterns that capture their voice. it’s all fictional ofc and just based off our perception of them, but i like to write skz in a way that’s at least somewhat believable in accordance w their personalities! even little things like the way jisung talks through breathy giggles, binnie’s nose scrunches, how minho looks up when he’s thinking, or how jeongin ends his sentences with a cute nod sometimes. and ofc there’s physical details as well like binnie’s chin scar, chan’s dimples, hannie’s cheek mole etc

this one is probably obvious but paragraph breaks are very important!! both to prevent overwhelming the reader with a huge block of words, and for organizing events/building tension! a paragraph never strictly has to be multiple sentences, you can have a single isolated line of text if you want. timing paragraph breaks can be very effective for creating the right vibe! if something intense is happening, putting a break right after a serious action or putting a single line of dialogue on its own can make them stand out and really add to the drama of it all hehe

don’t worry too much abt using the same word multiple times!! it might feel a lil annoying when you have to repeat a word several times in a paragraph but sometimes that’s the only option there is. if you try to replace it w 10 different synonyms instead of just referring to a book as a book, then it might end up sounding even goofier haha…so try not to stress when you feel like you’re overusing a word!

if you want your writing to be more immersive, take all senses into account!! describe more than just the character’s actions—describe sights, smells, sounds, touch, how the characters are feeling, etc!

arguably the biggest piece of advice i could give!! having varied sentence structure/length is one of the most challenging parts of writing in my opinion but so so important. when smth sounds off in your writing, it could very often be bc of the way a sentence is structured, or bc several sentences back to back are similar in length/format, which makes it flow awkwardly. i think making sure ur sentences range from long, detailed ones w several clauses, commas, semicolons, em dashes etc. to short, direct ones keeps the writing engaging! sometimes combining 2 short sentences can make the flow sound better, and sometimes breaking down a long one does the same! it also makes it a lot more effective when you have a sudden short sentence amidst several longer ones, bc there’s a clear shift in tone! generally just try to avoid having an entire paragraph of sentences that go “she did this and then this. then she did this and then this. then she did this and said that.” the variety will work wonders for how it all connects together!

ofc there are some situations where you might be going for a certain feeling or tone w your writing, in which case it can actually be a useful tactic to have repetitive sentence length/structure. maybe you want a scene to feel overwhelming w several long, complex sentences or you want to really drive in an idea by using blunt, disjointed ones. it’s all abt what you hope to achieve w your writing and your personal preference!

so here’s basically what I know about season four (and TUA in general):

TUA fans: Oh boy! I can’t wait for the season 4 finale, we’re finally gonna get closure! I’m hoping all the characters will finally be happy and something with marigolds will happen! TUA director (i think): uhm actually no we’re going to give this practically cannon aroace character a love interest and make him a homewrecker! That’s what you guys wanted right? TUA fans: *unintelligible screeching and angry noises*

So heres what i know:

Marigolds?? Those are important for the ending for some reason

a man named Klaus who sets off my gaydar and smth abt him being a stripper? (He’s like my queen Dan wildes, pop off king)

Five (I I still don’t know why he’s named after a number?) is somehow like 75 but also 18

This woman named..uh I forget, but her actors name is Rita I think and apparently she’s like 34 and agreed to cheat on her loving husband (who’s five’s brother) with five. this is so potent with the stench of pedophilia. this is so not okay. you can’t just be like “oh but he’s 18 so he’s legal so it’s okay!” Like NO SIR THATS NOT OKAY

apparently they waited for fives actor to be like 18 before they forced him to kiss Rita or wtv??? like…that is illegal sir? or if it’s not it should be?? Wtf??

I saw a picture of the kiss that happened between them and I started genuinely BURSTING OUT LAUGHING. and not in the “haha that’s hilarious!” Way but in the “HAHA OMFG THIS IS SO NOT FUNNY AND STUPID” way. Like. that kiss looked so uncomfortable. you can TELL that five’s actor is uncomfortable. wtf guys.

I ended up not watching Eden’s Garden (yet) BUT I have started Chapter 1 of Tetro Danganronpa PINK

I like all of the characters so far!! I definitely wanna draw them all when I get through more of it (I don’t wanna accidentally run into spoilers!

Okay here we go!!

So I love CHIBA AND HAMA’S DYNAMIC!!! 💕💕

They are so cute! It’s giving BIG sibling energy (big brother / little sister)!! It’s so wholesome and sweet!! 💕

I also like Ken and Kamimura’s little friendship they started on the first night! Very nice! Their talk about taking down Wada together got a laugh out of me!

I also love Ojima!! 💜

Him looking out for both Kamimura and Shigeki is very sweet! Also him spacing out is very relatable! I do that A LOT (especially when I was in school)

Also Okazaki is really cool too! I don’t know who her VA is but I adore her voice!! She makes me happy every time I hear her voice!! 💕

And now I will throw my thoughts and feelings about the WHOLE CAST here!!

Keep in mind these are my feelings on these characters up to Hideaway (episode 20 of the Chapter 1 playlist)! They are BOUND to change as I go on. But a few things to note:

💜 FAVES: I already talked about how much I love these two but yeah!! Ojima and Chiba are my BIGGEST FAVES thus far!! We will see if those feelings change~!

💖 LOVE: Okazaki, Wada, and Ken just have nice personalities I just gravitate towards!! Either because of their dynamics with other characters or just them on their own!! They’re pretty cool~! ✨

💚 LIKE: I like Sasaki’s straightforward approach! She is a lot like Taka / Ult. Imposter (when they were Byakuya)!! Willing to be leader and butt heads with people!

I also like Hama bc of his friendship with Chiba + his attitude with demons. Idk if he’s supposed to be like Gundham (aka a chunibyo) but I like him!!

Kamimura gives me a mixture of Fuyuhiko and Nagito vibes. Sickly, standoffish, but nice to talk to when they open up. His relationship with Ken is really cute (I’m totally NOT shipping them) but yeah I like him! Considering his talent, I’m sure he’s not gonna be one to make himself susceptible to dying (at least not on purpose) and I’m interested to see how things play out for him!

Tsuno is just a ray of sunshine! She wants to be a beacon of hope for everyone and it shows!! I wonder how upbeat she’ll be when the killing game officially starts…

💛 NEUTRAL: Everyone else is meh to me for now. Obviously that could change in the future!! A few of them (namely Watari and Hiroaki) had some stand out moments that made me like them a bit more but idk…

I don’t HATE any of the cast, which is normally for me. I don’t usually hate a character from the start (normally it’s their actions that make me hate them and…not much has happened so far to make me hate anyone)

So yeah!! Those are my thoughts so far!!

I respectively disagree with the racism and misogyny… personally being a woc, black/asian at that too, it's crazy to see people just assume how everyone from one minority feels about something and that has to deal with the rest of us. Within the interactions given in the episodes I haven’t seen of any sort. They are just having any given conversation any characters (no matter sex/gender/race/color) would have with another character they might have been involved with.

And to the chenford of it all, I also think you are barking up at a tree that hasn't fully developed yet. Its only been the first 2 episodes, and unfortunately at the end of the day it is the Nathan/Nolan show he is literally one of the executive producers who gets a say whats put out or not when it comes to characters having screen times and whatnots. And again, we haven't really have a full on chenford scene, like in the past or a fully chenford centric episode maybe there is back story regarding their interactions…maybe we are missing something not yet revealed to the audience….maybe Tim and Lucy are hiding something.

All will come in its time. And if it doesn’t, then shit yeah let’s complain about that sure. But for now we wait

you can wait. i’ll max out what’s left of my free speech. i don’t think the way to correct reaching so hard is to not stretch your perspective at all.

there was clear misogyny here. chenford’s banter is dependent on tim making lucy look and feel incompetent in front of their coworkers. why didn’t tim focus his discipline more on seth for disrespecting his TO by arriving late, like when miles hit on lucy?

i don’t think the ending scene was racist either, but to be clear, it’s true that racism can’t be fully divested from lucy, a WOC. i’ve mentioned before that it’s a likely factor in her professional woes bc she’s going against a system that prioritizes the promotions of white men who may not have her same achievements.

i do think it’s racist to attribute all of her challenges straight to racism, just bc she’s asian. it’s like going to webmd for a headache and convincing yourself you have a brain tumor. did you even consider more likely explanations for their bias?

in fact, calling lucy submissive in her interpersonal relationships is perpetuating more racist stereotypes than any ‘hehehaha ur so hot’ jokes thus far. if there’s one thing the show’s consistent about, it’s her going against that grain as an opinionated woman who happens to be asian. very rare to see in american media but y’all wanna tokenize her anyway? weird.

lastly, it’s gratuitous to think there’s a back story that can explain why tim is so clinical in his interactions with lucy. chenford gets plenty screen time as the B couple, but their narrative is never meaningful. lucy’s arc has been tied to tim’s for like 50 eps now between UC, isabel, him being her boss, him breaking up with her, and her not getting detective. i’m tired, but i like what i’m seeing with TO lucy so far, and i’m not opposed to developing selective amnesia. genuinely hope this helps x

Currently trying to figure out a combined family tree for the 1-6 Joestars and the 7-9 joestars, even though I’m only on chapter 12 of Jojolion. Send help

I’m not done yet, mainly because I have NO CLUE how to start going about Johnny’s side of the family tree, considering how 90% of it is just reusing the 1-6 family tree until oops! The Kira’s are here now! And idk how I wanna go about doing that right now, and like I said, I’m still really early on in jojolion, so idk where gappy falls just yet, and I haven’t even touched jojolands yet, all I know is that the jojo is named Jodio Joestar and has a sister named Dragona, and that seems pretty daunting rn lol

Some notes!

Dio and Diego have the Joestar last name due to being adopted

Their mother is specifically Diego’s mother because we have much more to go on for her, at least from what I’ve seen

Her name is Anne because in jojolion it says that George I’s wife’s name was Anne, but I’m pretty sure that Mary is Jona’s mom’s name, so the name has been gifted to the Brandos

Also nicknames don’t show up so imagine that it’s either their nicknames or just the Roman numerals for how many times the name has repeated (ex. Johnny instead of Jonathan (II), Lisa Lisa instead of Elizabeth, George II, Tomoko II, Norisuke IV, etc)

Lucy is Lucy Steel because I find it funny and her maiden name is Pendleton, so I like to think that she’s actually named after Erina’s mom

Yes this means that all of Jona and Eri’s children are named after other people, George II, Jonathan II and Lucy II

No I don’t know how Steven Steel plays into this

Josuke’s donor conceived, so Joseph is technically still his bio dad n stuff and Josuke’s an actual Joestar

Also since this is purely for me, really, imagine Yukako as siblings with Josuke bc I love Yukasuke twins. I did go back and add her in, but then you weren’t able to see everyone on the family tree nicely anymore, so just imagine she’s there

George II and Nicholas have been condescend into one character, feel free to imagine his full name as George Nicholas Joestar II

In the panels of JoJolion I used to get the Higashikatas family tree, it mentioned a few unnamed siblings, due to their lack of importance they have been erased from existence. Who knows, maybe they still exist but I did not add them

Same goes for Johnny’s family tree, for when I get to it

Marina is like, the only non canon name on this list, unless you include Anne but even then I got it from a different character

No idk how some things would play out due to this shift (ex. Sbr) this is mainly just for fun

AAAAA TYSMMMMM!!!! THIS MEANS THE WORLD TO ME 

ANYWAY messy character/story ramble and some on the spot brainstorming under the cut:

I mentioned it in my first wish post but yes she’s still wanting to be the kings apprentice/isn’t a princess (but I’d say for the ending after the king gets killed off villain style she replaces him as princess so it comes full circle n all) 

The main difference with my Asha is she has zero social skills/is shy/doormat, I liked the idea of how she was anxious before meeting with the king but youknow in mine I’m getting rid of the adorkable stuff from it. Like it emphasizes how big of a deal this is because she finally worked up the proper courage to speak with him. 

I’m not 100% sure but I like the idea she only offers to be his assistant AFTER being turned down about granting her grandfathers wish, like I think she’d always want to be a sorcerer like him but never had that wish right at the forefront youknow? Perhaps after her father died she lost hope in that or just thought it was unrealistic etc but I feel like in the movie her having both of those motivations at once kinda muddled with things and definitely paints her as being a bit selfish especially considering this movie does just a reallllly poor job at show don’t tell like we never see Asha like studying magic or wishes or looking up to the king etc but we sure are told it a lot but just?? It definitely feels very cluttered and could easily be adjusted with just emphasizing one thing over another, so in mine I’d like to think either one of two things I’ve not decided yet but either 1: she hits two birds with one stone and goes to work for magnifico for a bit and only THEN asks about her grandfather's wish or 2: my previously stated idea of asking about wish first and doing apprenticeship work in exchange 

I kinda prefer the first one a little bit just bc gives us some time with Asha and the king to interact while also giving time for another wish ceremony to happen in that time, and for her grandfather to again not get his wish chosen to kinda put a nail in the coffin. And in mine her grandpa is much more physically fitting for being 100 like man is going to die in like the next one or two years he doesn’t have very long HENCE haves emphasis on WHY Asha is so insistent on getting his wish granted bc in the movie sure she cares about him but we aren’t SHOWN WHY like no specific childhood moments or any clear close bond moments like I said just way too much tell and not enough show

not sure about her dad yet but I definitely wanna make him more prominent maybe he was magnificos apprentice or studied stars etc just something to give him more of a importance

But yeah so making her shy was a big thing in helping separate her from other Disney protags bc I honestly can’t really think of many outright anxious or people pleasing Disney princesses/Disney girl protagonists ? And because it helps with her arc of standing up for herself/seeking justice like it hits it home a lot harder as compared to “ooo quirky girl but now she’s cool!!” Like it felt very forced to me atleast in my opinion so here it feels much more natural, and helps her bounce off star more bc the goat was not it that wasn’t a character to bounce off of that was a trailer one liner generator. 

So speaking of Star!! Bc you asked about him so yeah uhh not really much to say besides I wanted to combine the cute ball of energy personality that the movie had AND the bombastic energetic shapeshifter boy from the concepts so I combined them together to get cute starboy who rather than being full of energy is more so just easily excited especially considering star has wanted to visit earth for forever 

I like the idea that maybe they never granted wishes or helped people was because Asha and her dad were the only ones who really wished on stars bc everyone else just went to the king. So Star hears her venting abt the king not helping her grandad at the tree asking for help as like a last ditch attempt and star recognizes her voice and grants her wish like ‘you wanted help? I’m here now!’ Type of deal

Ohhh another idea I actually got this from another post but someone had mentioned making the stars magic/wish granting work like the blue fairy from Pinocchio, in which they can’t directly grant wishes but instead give you the means to achieve your wish on your own (hence the bit in that art of magnificos ref sheet having the doodle of Star saying even star can’t grant wishes directly/take them, which is a huge deal bc if a cosmic being can’t do something that this regular ass guy CAN do then that’s a huuuge red flag (or… black flag ig in this case bc yk.., black magic lol))

My Star is basically just a rehash of the classic Ariel type character of ‘I’ve watched humans my whole life and it’s boring in space, I want to be human because I like them!’ But unlike Ariel he doesn’t stay human because star instantly regrets it after getting it granted because 1: magnifico manipulated star and just got god powers and 2: ‘oooohgpf this is overstimulation hell wtf wtf wtf I hate this this feels so weirddddd’

And another reason is because of the Asha foils/recognition of the self through the other plot of them two thus they get symbolism of appreciating what they already have and all :3

Magnifico I’m still brainstorming on but tldr I’m thinking he will be more manipulative than straight up evil/the full evil stuff just shows up later/it’s a slow burn 

Like starts off being a little sus but ultimately well meaning and helpful, then bleeds into manipulation territory, then once getting star magic he just lets go of all that restraint and just is full power hungry villain, ALSO killing the book possession thing bc that was stupid and instead I like the idea he uses dark magic from the start but no one knows because he lies about it’s just because he’s the most powerful sorcerer/maybe he’s the only one who actually knows magic either bc of a ban or perhaps something about his old kingdom being destroyed maybe it could be a library of Alexandria thing of he’s the only sorcerer left around in that area shrugs but lots of fun to be had with him ! slutty evil kings are an awesome trope like I really wanna play on hubris/self downfall bc that’s my favorite kind of villain of ‘you could have been different but just dug yourself such a deep hole it became your grave’

confession but i have an inkling arthur and abigail were exes, bbuuut please bear with me as i explain (and honestly feel free to fact-check anything i say here)

but first of all, let me be clear that i hate the whole “who’s jack’s father?” discourse. imo it’s pointless and frankly a boring topic, considering many characters have already affirmingly said john is jacks father. so i’m not here to make a case that arthur is jack’s father actually.

what i wanna draw attention to is the period where john left the gang for a year (which is after jack had already been born), because something roger clark said in this panel (the question starts at 41:43 and roger answers a bit later) caught my interest. basically he said there were cut dialogue that alluded to arthur and abigail’s romance, and by rhetorically asking “who knows what happened [during the 1 year john left]?” it’s hard for me not to think it’s his way of suggesting that’s when the relationship happened.

granted, roger also explicitly said those lines/content were cut, but he seemed to also say rockstar conveyed to the two actors that they (rockstar themselves) weren’t doing away with the “attraction undertone”. and that is very much felt, given how they never actually walk back on the things they let arthur write in his journal when it comes to abigail: conflicted thoughts of wanting to marry her, thinking how she’s “the finest woman” he’s known, saving john from prison “for abigail, of course”.

there’s just this really strangely intimate and possessive undercurrent in many things he’s written about her, in a way that would feel very creepy and ooc if she weren’t his at some point.

and it makes me think perhaps when rockstar decided to cut their content, they only did so out of a desire to avoid being overt and unbecoming (probably bc they figured it could be off-putting for fans and subtlety/ambiguity can be more palatable here?), but this shared past about arthur and abigail wasn’t meant to be erased. basically rockstar themselves actually never fully committed to ditching the idea, just decided to be coy about it, handling it in a way so that there’s room for deniability.

and from a story stand point, i think it does make sense? as a bereaved dad (and let’s face it, somewhat of a deadbeat one, too), arthur would definitely take pity on abigail and jack’s situation. if anything, i think arthur’s attempt (be it a conscious or unwitting one) to integrate with them was initially driven by guilt, then probably morphed into actual appreciation/attraction for abigail. for abigail’s side, well, she was abandoned by her true love who (iirc?) denied paternity to their son, that’s gotta enrage her to no end, but also hurt a whole lot. she would definitely appreciate arthur for stepping up and come to care deeply for him in return, but i don’t think she quite shares his level of appreciation.

though by stating this, i’m not in any way trying to frame her as an “ungrateful bitch” who didn’t properly return arthur’s favor— she doesn’t owe arthur love, and i don’t think arthur showed kindness to her with the expectation of winning her over anyway— it’s fair to say arthur did all this simply because he is, well, a good man. so once john eventually returned to the gang and abigail parted ways with arthur, she would be well within her rights to do so, and imo arthur would never in any way berate him or her about this, bc he would know what he had signed up for. that being said, i also don’t think arthur and abigail’s situation was all or nothing. they might never have progressed into true love, but it’s also not unrealistic to think they started being intimate at some point, if only to cope with their problems or try to move on from their pasts (this is assuming abigail gave up hope of john coming back.)

as a bottom line, i guess i wanna say i wrote all of this to sort out my cognitive dissonance. the idea of arthur/abigail is alienating to me and i used to try to pretend it didn’t exist, but the intent is so undeniably there that i kind of started getting frustrated whenever i see people tiptoe around it, coming up with multiple unsatisfactory explanations and never getting into the meat of it, to the point i think it’s just more sincere and liberating? to just confront it lmao. now i’ve come to regard it as an interesting aspect about arthur.

This is my fancast for the JLI, but before we all lose it I need a quick disclaimer: this fancast is what I think the JLI could look like in a live action movie, this isn’t serious and I think if this movies were to exist it would be a comedy movie bc it’s the JLI, they’re not supposed to be taken seriously by anyone!!!!

With that in mind this is my fancast and I’ll walk you through it, let’s go:

Blue Beetle (Ted Kord):

Logan Lerman, off to a great start, i know (lol). Based on Logan’s roles throughout his career I think he would be a great Ted Kord bc he can play a nice, wholesome guy and I think he looks like the character as well. Like Ted, you would wanna put him in a jar and protect him from the world. Also he hasn’t been in many movies recently and I miss him, he deserves better.

Booster Gold (Michael J. Carter):

Lucas Till, just look at him !!! You cannot tell me he doesn’t look exactly like booster, you can’t !!! Besides Lucas has been in many action productions from movies to tv shows BUT he was also the love interest in the Hannah Montana movie THATS RANGE, he can play a the super hero and the goof we all know and love. And again, look at him !!!!

Green lantern (Guy Gardner):

Dacre Montgomery. Ok, Guy is a hard one to cast bc he is the biggest asshole in the world but we also love him bc he’s part of the JLI, we need someone that can play a jerk but can also have a redeeming plot bc again, we love him. And in my opinion dacre is the guy (get it ? Guy ?) I mean, u saw him as Billy in stranger things, he’s a great actor, he is perfect for this role.

Now comes the exciting part, the gurls.

Ice (tora olafsdotter):

Sophie Turner. Do I even have to say anything at this point? Look at her she IS Tora. You’ve seen Sophie in GOT you know she can play the baddest bitch on the planet while playing a sweet girly girl and that’s Tora right there. She can carry this role easily and I think she looks just like Tora she’s also very tall wich is great considering she’s playing a Norwegian woman.

Ok, now we need to have a talk about this next one, HEAR ME OUT.

Fire (Beatriz Bonilla da Costa):

Selena Gomez. I know what you’re gonna say: “she’s not Brazilian”. Yeah I know (I’m Brazilian myself) but let’s be realistic, it’s Hollywood, they don’t care, they don’t even know the difference between Latinos and frankly, so doesn’t the rest of the world. So if we’re gonna have a Latina play Fire it would be great to have one the most loved latinas in the world playing her. I love Selena Gomez, she’s a great actress and she can play a bad bitch and a lovely girl just like Bea. And I even got this photo to help you visualize (you’re welcome btw) and I think she looks amazing, I would add green eye contacts to the mix but I think she would nail it. And also, as a Brazilian myself she has my blessing to play fire U.U

Martian Manhunter (J’onn J’onzz):

Terry Crews, remember when I said that this movie has to be a comedy?? I always thought that Martian Manhunter would be a great comic relief bc of the breach of expectation considering he’s supposed to be a very serious character and to me Terry Crews would be PERFECT for this role, not only he can play a very intimidating character he is also one of the funniest actors out there, also with Martian’s ability to shape shift I would love to see terry play a range of things martian can turn into. I love him.

Max Lord:

Zac Efron, here’s what I’m thinking for this one: Max has to be played by someone that we really love so when it’s reveled that he’s the villain we feel even more betrayed and I think Zac is our guy. Bc everybody loves Zac efron, if you don’t you’re dead on the inside, and Zac had shown us that he can play a villain role, the man played Ted B*ndy for fuck sake’s !! He can carry this role easily.

And last but not least

Batman (Bruce Wayne):

I have no idea, this is the only one I can’t think of, bc although I love BatPat I don’t think Robert is a great fit for this particular fictional project lol, this would be a comedy movie and Robert’s version of the Batman is super serious, besides I wanted the main JLI and Batman and Martian to have a bit of an age gap to show how immature the JLI is compared to household name super heroes like the Batman you know ? So if you have a suggestion let me know bc I can’t think of anyone.

You know what I was thinking about one of the reasons why theres so many confederate/slave owner era vampires??…

I think its a way for white people to preserve and immortalize a time where they were allowed to be their most unhinged.

Like lowkey those are their heroes (do we see a widespread celebration of the union and union soldiers in the same way as the confederacy? why isn’t that also part of their “culture”). So if their heros are villains for trying to keep slavery alive and that era had to die then they found a way to make it undead, powerful still and also a way for them to root for those villians in a way where they don’t have to moralize it bc its the very nature of a vampire to be a monster.

So they get to push that it doesn’t make sense to moralize it in the way they’re always looking for allowances to not have to moralize the fact that they ever existed in that way and still carry a lot more of those sentiments and ways of thinking/speaking/acting than they’re willing to admit.

The vampire is from another time and frozen in the way they were when they were turned. The same way their grandparents are from a different era and stuck in their ways, but they don’t get to be forever young and desirable in their appearance by the standards of what beauty is considered to be. They want to be allowed to hold on to it as beautiful too.

It’s never really explored of contended with in any of the media that has a confederate of slave owning vampire in a way that reconciles with the racial implications of that. How they were already consuming people and exploiting and exerting control over people in their humanity and you weren’t to question them. They had the power and they didn’t want to give up that power and still don’t.

Now that lives on in a figure that is given even more power than their human counterparts and they get to be alluring and seductive and compelling. They also get special powers to aid in their consumption and compulsion. And the white reader is allowed to desire that figure bc it’s fictional and they’re meant to be monsters without ever having to question what it means that they want to be allowed to desire a non-fictional historical figure in a fictional setting so they don’t have to question why they yearn for that allowance. They free themselves from questioning why they’re always looking for allowances i.e. in micro-aggressive tactics and n-word passes (“i was singing the lyrics to the song!” and “I grew up in the hood around black people” and “my _____is black and they said it was fine”).

It’s reflected in the general anti-blackness within goth culture and vampire culture as well. The fact that the white og vc fandom was rife with racism and racist readers for so long. the author herself holding anti-black beliefs and never exploring how that shows up in her work. Just like in twilight and that author pushing against their being black vampires in the movie etc. etc. It’s exposed in the white og readers struggle to watch their beloved characters shown in an adaptation that does not allow them to hide, that challenges the allowance to have racism be an unspoken undertone in the media they consume. In an adaptation that refuses to soothe their discomfort with being challah to reflect on that part of their history and how they exist in the world today. Instead they get angry and accuse the adaptation of making their beloved characters ooc! They revise and excuse the very real examples in the very text they’ve been a fan of for years bc the text allowed them to ignore and participate in the apologia of it all and now the adaptation is not and they didn’t like that. They scapegoat and say they were expecting a romance (despite how the show was promoted) because they wanna romanticize that version of themselves and not be questioned about it ( another example: how they like to get married on plantations)…

sorry to just dump all these idk these thoughts on you, which probably have been talked about extensively and with more intelligence, but I just wanted to write it out somewhere and usually you have great discussions on your blog so yeah. hope you are having a good day 💕

What do you think of the ship: Levi x Ace x David?

Hmm, I’ve never considered this ship before, surprisingly. And here I was thinking I shipped every Ace ship in existence!

But since I ship acevid and acevi, and I’ve read at least one good David x Levi (Levid?) one-shot, I think they could all be cute together! I think their personalities would even each other out, if you know what I mean. I kinda wanna see a fic about them now, though I’m not sure how I would approach writing one myself.

What do you think of the theory of David being the real protagonist?

I’ve never seen this theory around before, so I can’t be 100% sure I know what you mean, but I do think it’s interesting that he stands where a protag normally would in a canon game.

I suppose maybe in the in-universe TV show the cast is on David could maybe be the protag? Since, as mentioned before, he stands where the protag would. Maybe audiences got bored of the hopeful protags and wanted one that was more interesting and morally grey like David.

But I think, in terms of the real-world YouTube series, we’re going to have Teruko as the protag the whole game.

Apart from Acevid, whats your favorite David ship?

Honestly? Probably Teruvid. Their banter makes me smile, and I’m a total sucker for the rivals to lovers trope (hence my obsession with acevid, haha).

Okay, hear me out…Eden. NOT BECAUSE I THINK SHE’S SECRETLY EVIL OR ANYTHING! Nice people are allowed to be nice. But there’s piece of evidence pointing to her as the culprit I don’t think we can ignore.

When Ace wakes up from almost dying and knocks Eden to the ground, a few moments later the tape that was on the floor of the crime scene disappears from the background, seemingly stolen while Teruko was distracted by Ace. Then later, we have a whole scene with Teruko and Rose (the pull-up scene) confirming it’s gone. If Eden stole the tape, then I say that she definitely killed Arei.

If you want to read something more in-depth about this theory I suggest checking out @1moreff-creator’s theories about it, they were all super interesting and convincing, at least to me.

I guess to properly answer this question I’ll have to go reread all your one-shots, AKA some of my favorite one-shots to reread…oh no…/j

But in all seriousness, after rereading all of them my favorite is probably ‘Red and Blue Work So Well Together’ and the sequel ‘Love Between a Ruby and Sapphire’, which I’m counting as the same one since they’re in the same timeline. I also really like ‘It All Started with a Bet’!

And I honestly don’t have a least favorite, since I think all of your one-shots are good! :)

My favorite would probably have be either ‘Synonyms’, which will always hold a special place in my heart as the first Acevid one-shot I was really proud of, or ‘Stealin’ Shit’, my most recent one, since I’m pretty proud of the overall story and longer length of that one. Plus I got a chance to put Jarei in that one!

My least favorite is probably ‘Sleeping Soundly’, just because it’s so much shorter than my other ones, or ‘Soap’, because Ace felt a bit out of character.

Who’s your favorite DRDT VA?

I know that this is super predictable…But yeah, it’s Ace’s. He just sells Ace’s emotions so well, and it’s so cool to listen to any voices lines of his!

But I also really like Hu’s voice actor. At first, since Hu was usually pretty calm and delivered most of her lines in the same tone, I didn’t really notice her voices lines as much as Ace’s, but that one moment in the 2nd trial when she says “I am trying my best” and goes on her tangent about usefulness? My God, that was such a stand-out moment for me. I can still hear it in my head.

But honestly, all the voice actors are amazing! I love and appreciate every single one of them so much!!!

Is there anything you genuinely don't like about Ace?

Even for someone who loves him as much as I do, I will admit his bullying of Nico wore me down a lot. Every time in Chapter 2 when we saw them arguing, I would go, “Ugh, he’s doing this again?”.

But that’s not a bash on the writing by any means! The failed murder attempt would have felt like it came out of nowhere if not for all the necessary build-up, and I can totally understand why the DRDTdev showed them arguing as much as they did.

But seeing my silly little angry coward turn into a certified bully definitely made me…Well, not annoyed, but really sad? Like, I was under the impression Ace would get a redemption, only for him to get worse.

But despite the fact it made me feel pretty sad in the moment…I think I kind of like it. It would make sense for someone like Ace to get more desperate, more aggressive, than to just get redeemed this early on. It wouldn’t have been very realistic if they didn’t take this route. And like I said, it’s not even that this makes me dislike him…It just makes me feel bad for him. With a group of people like the one in the killing game, he might have finally started to grow as a person, but instead someone murdered and this happened. It feels tragic, and I can’t wait to see where the character goes next.

My tangent about what I don’t like about Ace kinda turned into another reason that I like him…Whoops. What I’m trying to say is that Ace’s abrasive personality can be a lot to process, even for me. I can kinda see why some people just write him off as a jerk, but I think a closer inspection can yield a lot of interesting stuff.

Do you like Arturo?

In the past I’ve said I’m kinda meh about him, but he’s grown on me a bit. His mindset is…unique, let’s put it that way, but it seems he’s got an interesting backstory and I think the prologue/chapter 1 version of him is good for comedic purposes.

He’s a good character. Not my favorite, not even close, especially not with the developments of chapter 2 and him following J around, that was hard to watch (not a bash on the writing, I can honestly appreciate how they’re not using the stalking/obsession thing purely for laughs, just treating it as creepy, unlike other pieces of media will do sometimes).

Overall, still not one of my favorite characters, he might even be my least favorite. But I love all the characters in DRDT so much that saying he’s my least favorite isn’t even an insult. There’s just some tough competition.

Which DRDT character would you say is the emoest?

i really appreciate you holding on for the wild ride, it ended up being much more of a word vomit than i anticipated 😅 this is also gonna be long to explain it all but:

okay so my OC, calrik, is from an original fantasy fiction work i have tentatively called ‘homeward bound’; it’s been a passion project for like idk 10+ years and the characters in it are like the original 4 OCs for me lol. he (funnily enough) resembles laios physically (blonde, 6’4, a guard so Fit, brown eyes) but also has freckles and is a wolf shapeshifter (simply put, but it’s more complicated than that) (which is probably that’s why I love laios, your honor). premise of that WIP’s world is an empress (ilantha) of celestial blood and her three closest and highest ranked guards (saelihn, merric, and calrik) (none of which start out in those positions except the empress) up being divinely intertwined in changing the course of the empires’ history. fated love, fated loss, coronations and galas and sneaking away to not get caught, fae and wolf shapeshifters, personified celestial bodies and primordial / ancient spirits, heinous war crimes, children with trauma responsible for way too much, not a parent in sight lmfao. that being said, the kidnapping was happening from the Big Baddie™️ in that world and calrik busted in.

with the SW AU, it’s an AU of my own work (lmfao). calrik is an inquisitor, brother to merric (supreme leader); sae is a force sensitive rebel (not proper Jedi) and tasked with transporting / protecting ilantha (actual Jedi, Princess of Alderaan). the girls get captured, put on star killer base, and interrogated by the guys. of course they pair bc where else would the enemies to lovers come in. cal interrogates sae, and she’s restrained. since sabers turn on, they have an activation mechanism hums. so while he’s interrogating her, choking her, calling her pet and telling her to speak up, he traces the humming, vibrating end of the saber—while ignited—along her body until its against her thrumming cunt. hence: a lightsaber vibrator as means of an interrogation method.

now Laios…… holy shit yeah. that’s exactly what im thinking about!!!! an aphrodisiac that the longer the body doesn’t register you’re breeding (aka using it), the worse it gets. teaching him how to touch you, and he ends up being exactly the touch you’ve always imagined having. its so innocently perfect, and before he’s even had his turn, a glob of cum has stained his pants. he’s panting, pupils swollen; at one point you have to remind him to take the armor off because he’s so into you, enraptured. now imagine you’re the monster that hit him with the pollen……………….. like a fae dryad or somethin………. holy shit yeah.

sav what the FUCK that world you’ve built sounds so incredible and well thought out; i LOVE fantasy but it’s daunting to write/create fantastical worlds because there are so many elements you must consider and balance. effective world building is a feat—and you have so many interesting characters that you’ve also created to boot! i’m obsessed with how similar cal is to laios ooohuuhgghhhhhh i will lose my mind (go insanely horny) over him.

AND THE STAR WARS AU???????? okay first of all: brilliant, show-stopping, incredible. putting your own ocs from an original story into a pre-existing fictional universe is so big brained of you i don’t even know what to say. and enemies to lovers…my favorite flavor, truly. can i just say i wanna be in sae’s place because oh my god? i’m seeing the vibrating lightsaber vision and i want to experience it so desperately it’s not even funny.

finally LAIOS, MY LOVE! i have a bit of a reputation on my blog for being a virgin killer because there’s nothing more sexy and delicious to me than teaching someone inexperienced how to touch you; molding their concept of sexuality, exploring their interests, and leaving a lasting impression on them (even if you don’t stay together because they will never, never forget their first). and laios is the perfect virgin in my mind because he’s eager to please and he’s utterly shameless. he will lick your armpits and spit on your clit and suck on your tongue without a second thought because it feels and tastes so good; he has a one-track mind and it makes sex with him almost a religious experience. the sex pollen trope on top of that makes him feral for you…i don’t even know what to say about the idea of you being the monster—like…UGH. he gives you a run for your money!

I don’t think it’s so ooc to portray Chuck traveling a lot since Bass Industries seems to be such a massive company. That he doesn’t do so in canon, doesn’t mean he wouldn’t have to do it in the future, even if he wants to do things differently than Bart. But I don’t think he’s a monster for it, or that it means he doesn’t care about Blair or their family. It just doesn’t bother me that Dair fics use this headcanon as a device to make Dan and Blair to reconnect with each other, but I’m biased to talk about this, since I grow to enjoy dair with the time, even if I still like chair a lot. Considering many of these are Chuck-bashing, I can see why you decided to point it out though. You’re right about Waldorf designs demanding the same things from Blair, and that’s something I’d like to be acknowledged more often in fics.

hi!! so I realise now that my original post was kinda just a stream of consciousness and I didn't really expand on certain points, so ty for allowing this to be a dialogue instead of just disagreeing or something 🫶🏻 I do think that obviously chuck would need to travel at times, just that based on canon he wouldn't need to travel to the extent he's portrayed to in these kinds of fics (also I just wanna be clear that as a hardcore chair fan I'm not actively seeking these fics out, I've just accidentally clicked on some which go in that direction and is what prompted the og post in the first place) and he would place his family first based on his character arc. my main issue as u said is that a lot of what it's used for is chuck-bashing and, look, if u don't like chuck that's fine I'm not gonna say everyone has to like him I get that. what I have an issue with is taking this idea of him working away and escalating it into him not being around for his family and not caring about them, or being straight up neglectful of them. and I'm not saying every fic with this premise does that, just that if u hate chuck that's one thing, but portraying him as an absent or awful father just to attack him seems extreme to me. like if u hate him that much don't write about him and don't bring children into ur chuck-bashing bc he's canonically a good father nothing can change that. ty for agreeing about waldorf designs I don't see why blair is shown waiting around being sad like even if chuck was away on work she has her own work to do, she's not a housewife and bc of that she'd understand him having to go away. I don't think it would be this huge conflict for them bc she knows better than anyone how demanding running an international business is, so to me it wouldn't split them up. would she be annoyed at times if he had to go away for a prolonged period of time? of course, but bc she says 3 hours apart from him is too much not bc she thinks he's putting his work above her. if she did think that then they'd probably have a conversation about it. my further thoughts on their work/life balance should probably be in another post lol but I just wanted to say that everyone can write what they want I know that, but I think it's interesting how chuck gets mischaracterised so regularly still just to put a ship together even though he was developed so much within the show

No no I agree so much. Like the show could've done so much more romance wise and drama wise but they chose to focus instead on this weird supernatural stuff that doesn't even make sense half of the time lol. AND YES BUZZ CUT RAFE WAS SO FUCKING HOT ESPECIALLY WHEN U CONSIDER THE FACT THAT BUZZ CUT IS WHEN HES TAKING CARE OF THE BUSSINESS AND STUFF. when he's the man of the house basically. Honestly I just love Rafe bc he's so diabolic and crazy but he's also clearly affected by his dad. I kinda wanna see Rafe turn good, but then I still want him to be cold and grumpy 😭😩

Ps: even though I don't get his romance with Sofia, he's so soft with her!! The way he looks at her??? PUHLEASE certified simp. I shipped him with kie soooo much, the actors and the two characters even have so much chem. Can't believe the show didn't take advantage of that smh.

The thing is, I WANTED to love Rafe bc he’s so hot but like… he had no substance to him imo 😭😭😭 like his character is so lazily and shallowly written that it seems like there’s no depth to him. He just seems like a cardboard character where it LOOKS like he may have depth, but the writers don’t pay him enough attention to actually write that depth or focus on it. Idk that’s just how I felt whilst watching it.

And I completely forgot his romance with Sofia lmfaooo but wasn’t it like really brief and barely a romance?!? Otherwise I would’ve remembered it!

Honestly that show is the biggest letdown ever and it sucks bc it’s such an attractive cast. Like in comparison, the summer I turned pretty which is also a summery beachy show doesn’t really have that attractive of a cast but the storytelling and romance is what makes it sooo popular
