wherefore art thou, small doses?
coming out of retirement inactivity to say it’s reductionistic to contextualize the current disrespect towards miss chen (in chenford) as racist. when actual racism appears on screen, it’ll be harder for those unfamiliar with dog whistles to recognize and address them because everything under the sun concerning lucy has been previously labeled as ‘racist.’
but! while racism may be an infinitesimal factor for chenford right now, internalized misogyny certainly is not. it’s disappointing, but not surprising, to see so many make excuses for tim’s head-scratching behavior towards lucy because of it. the GP will always fawn over mid white men. it’s the reason why nathan fillion stays employed playing boring as fuck nolan.
it’s insulting, though, for creatives like alexi hawley and eric winter to parrot PR talking points supplementing what isn’t actually depicted on the show. we’re not stupid. we don’t need commentary to interpret source material. we need to see what constitutes as tim ‘working on himself’ to make our own judgments about the viability of chenford’s path forward.
with the information we currently have, it would behoove lucy to cut her losses now before she gets more hurt and disrespected. wdym this man’s FORTY and still playing these mf games?! this is supposed to be the behavior of a man who’s tryna spin the block?!
tim’s quips at lucy weren’t landing in 702 because they made him look good at her expense. the contrast is jarring between lucy giving tim lingering looks that suggest their romance isn't dead and tim opting for (maybe even relishing in?) hitting lucy where it hurts using condescension, oftentimes in front of others!
is pulling her pigtails how you rebuild a relationship you fractured after she saw and accepted your ooc baggage? after she begged you to let her in? this approach doesn’t even help the show's bottomline, i.e. keeping the show on air as long as possible by keeping its core audience engaged, when their social strategy is dependent on using chenford as clickbait.
personally, i have no doubt there will be new chenford moments coming down the pipe to keep the flame of hope alive for us. those will be cute, but they won’t be enough to offset their wasted potential.

come on, bars!!! ur very generous take has so many interesting points.
If he just wanted to be friends again, sure whatever, this is fine, but we know he's trying to flirt with her again, we know he's trying to build back to a relationship...but he's doing nothing to actually make it up to her as a romantic partner. it's just empty flirty banter with no actual intentional change in how he communicates with her as someone he wants to build a relationship with.
i didn’t understand the writers' intentions until ur interpretation here. ftr, i don’t think lucy was unsure about her decision-making when she approached tim at work with her new seth findings. i think, given her nonexistent TO training, she was unsure of her options. was there a punishment less severe than a washout for two infractions that come perilously close to perjury and/or fraud?
tim's response seemed so competitive, like he didn't wanna point lucy towards a solution so his rookie swims while hers sinks. (issuing two blue pages seemed more than reasonable to me.)
now i get why i’m so willing to attribute lucy’s behavior to her upbringing beyond my clear bias. she’s been fairly consistent throughout the show’s entire run, unlike current tim (S4+), who seems incapable of following through on ‘small doses’.
‘small doses’ can’t happen only at his convenience lmao??? him acting exasperated at the end as a person who’s tryna get his girl back was mad. the love of your life wants to talk to you at the end of a long day and still trusts you as a sounding board after you smashed her heart into smithereens and this is how you repay that loyalty? by acting like you don’t know how to–or worse, don’t want to–deal with her anxious (not clinical) energy…again...when you're more professionally experienced?! foundational tim (S1-S3) would never.
tim hasn’t built up his account in lucy’s trust bank enough for me to comfortably support them getting back together officially so soon. but hey, girls need love too. i’m interested in what happens next week, but i'm losing patience. shit or get off the pot.
I just keep thinking about the two Chenford interactions we got this episode and how they rubbed me the wrong way.
The intention of Tim's actions felt correct but the way he expressed them felt...really off for what we're being told about his character arc.
The intention/outcome of both those interactions seemed to be focused on the idea of pushing Lucy towards taking ownership for her Rookie, making sure she is the one making decisions and not relying on her old mentor relationship with Tim to have him tell her if she's right or wrong. It's the right move, it's propelling her character out of feeling like the eternal student into someone who has authority and feels confident in her own judgements. So for Lucy's character great.
But for Tim's this reset back to season 3/4 colleague behaviour feels so out of touch with what was set up in season 6 and what Eric has said in interviews about Tim working on himself and trying to offer Lucy the 'small doses of kindness she'll allow' (a phrase I am starting to get pretty bloody sick of given how much it's been an empty statement). He should be attempting to branch the distance by actually verbalizing his improvement, not treating her like Angela one minute then making wistful puppy eyes at her the next.
Like what those scenes should have had was Tim actually acknowledging that that is what he's doing- pushing Lucy to step into her new role without using him as a crutch. It should have been him stopping her and outright saying "I know you're used to coming to me as your old TO to help you make these choices, but as a TO yourself you need to be confident in making your own decisions. I want to support you, but the best move to make here is to step back and let you grow. If we're going to move forward as equals, I need to start treating you like an equal" (because tbh not treating each other as equals was a big part of their relationship breakdown)
I'm willing to accept Lucy's behaviour as at least being in character because to be honest Lucy is a bit of a 'go along to get along' personality, and she does often sacrifice her comfort to make social dynamics easier (hello emotionally abusing parents), and I do think we might be building towards her getting to put him in his place next episode, but Tim's behaviour seems pretty at odds with what they were setting up

Information Literacy - START (Assessing Websites) - CN29
Today, I will tell about blogs that I visited that are put together by individuals or collaboration of individuals and also I will tell below about “What kind of information exchange happening on these social media?”, “What purpose does the information serve?”, “Who provides the information”, and “What do I think their motivations and motives are”.
The first blog site I wanted to talk about is https://www.celticsblog.com/. I often visit this blog because my favorite sports team is Boston Celtics and also a Celtics’ Fan. I often visited the blog to keep me updated about their latest news, games, team roster, trade rumors, etc. The blog is also covering fan shots, fan posts, forum, and more. The blogs talks anything about Boston Celtics. The information tells about their future perspective of their franchise, how they will build a more solid and stronger team or super team, how they will able to win championships, what are their missions and goals, and also trusting their process. The information is provided by Celtics’ fans and Celtics’ blog staffs. For me, the blog is the reason I am a loyal Celtics fan because even if the Celtics don't reach the playoffs or have a losing record or even trading their superstars. This blog give me idea why they are doing so and having a losing record or bad season. Because they might wanted to rebuild or have higher draft picks and get rookies for the future of their franchise because in NBA if your team is rank lower you will able to get higher draft picks but it is a risk because sometimes the high drafted rookie players turn out to be a bust (or didn’t do much or contribute much) for the franchise in the future. These ideas made me stick to Boston Celtics even though they are having worst season or else I would have chosen teams like Golden State Warriors or Cleveland Cavaliers.
The second blog site I wanted to talk about is http://www.nbalive.gg/. This blog is more about a game called NBA Live Mobile. I like to visit this site because I like playing NBA Live Mobile. The game is more of a card game with auction house where I can buy and sell cards and coins with other players. The blog keep me updated about their latest news. The news tells about its updates, patches, and what new player cards they are going to release. The information is provided by a person named Kraelo. Visiting their blog help keeps me updated about what new players are they going to release and because new players cost higher, I could sell them at a higher price and earn more coins. Like in real life, an example is Samsung S7, when it is first released, the price is high but after some time will the price will eventually drop. These are the reason for me the blog is useful.
The third blog site I wanted to talk about is “ESPN” blog. The blog is being run by the website: http://www.espn.com/. The blog is more about sports. The blog site covers many sports like NBA, NFL, NHL, MLB, MMA, WWE and more. The blog essentially talks about anything related to sports. From player movements, injuries, signings, fan reactions, and commentaries. Most of the time, I visited the blog to see WWE, NBA, and NCAA blogs because these are the only ones I watch. The site also has live scores, stats, box scores, recaps, radios, and many more. I believe the blog was put up by http://www.espn.com/ to spur interest on sports and generate more traffic for the site. I would considered the ESPN to be giants because it is already famous that is why they have many advertisers. I also noticed that they don’t allow readers to interact or make comments. The site is also connected many other social medias like Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest. Link is http://www.espn.com/.
Aside from Sports Team and games, the most recently blog I visited is http://balcroft.com/improve-communication-skills/. The reason I visited the blog is because it is also part of our English Oral Communication lesson. The blog is about 10 ways to improve your communication skills. The blog show how a person can communicate effectively. It provides tips and information about communication skill. It shows that person from digital age must know how to effectively convey and receive messages in person as well as via phone, email, and social media. The blog also show that effective communication is essential when communicating important messages, delegating tasks, and understanding feedback from others. Improving your communication skills can positively impact relationships with others. The information is provided by a person named Suzi West. For me, the blog is important because it can be useful for me in the future when doing business, finding jobs, or even now.
Since I am also interested in tall buildings, the next blog I want to talk about is https://www.radissonred.com/blog/travel/10-of-the-tallest-skyscrapers-in-the-world/. The blog talk about the tallest skyscrapers in the world. The blog shows where the location of the buildings is, what the height is, and when it is completed. The blog also shows the description of the buildings like the number of floors, the speed of some elevators, and also the picture. The information is provided by an unknown person. I think the purpose of the blog is to help attract tourists to go the location and visit it.
Last but not the least; this is the last blog I will be talking about: http://dailyblogvlog.com/top-10-expensive-cars/. The blog is about the top 10 most expensive cars in the world. The blog contains the car’s price and the car’s picture. The blog didn’t say much about the cars, it is more on pictures. The information is uploaded by unknown person. I think the purpose of this blog is to give the rich people or the rich kids ideas what cars are they going to buy. The problem in this blog is there are too few descriptions about the cars.
As a conclusion, blogs are created to provide information for people and also to earn money and popularity.

@tooembarrassedtoputmyname: either stand on business by putting these takes on main or remain silent. that's the tradeoff you make when looking for your tribe. making excuses to avoid taking accountability for your words and actions ain't it.
i wrote the responses below in reference to a very similar take in 2023 (!!!). although i stand by them, so much more has happened that doesn't warrant the kind of grace you're giving tim and the kind of projections you're putting onto lucy.
he has yet to acknowledge the hurt he's caused her by randomly breaking up with her for reasons unrelated to UC. he'll have no one to blame but himself if she doesn't wanna take him back after that kind of betrayal without seeing growth from him.
part of being in a relationship is letting your partner see all your sides. so yes, that includes lucy getting angry at tim for being unsupportive, but it also should've included tim staying with lucy as he worked through the embarrassment of a 'demotion' and all the events leading up to that.
your lucy projections can be conversely said for tim, too. will he leave his wife and kids in the middle of the night when another secret army thing pops up? if only what she wanted mattered, she'd be detective by now.
ftr, no consequence nolan isn't the main problem rn. he's getting so controlling; i'm siding with bailey. yes, me, the #1 bailey hater.

everything’s bullying, like everything’s racism, right? you’re harder on me than you are on the person who posted the misogynistic take on a burner. even after doubling down on the misogyny in the rb, there was no witch hunt for that person.
i’m curious. what gives that person a pass from the irrelevant coke rants on your own burners where you publish certain tim defenders’ supposed personal info, simply for not liking their opinion? being an authoritarian in a wasteland that has never been used to gauge audience interest in this mid network procedural is wild work.
while i may not agree, i respect ppl who defend their man with their whole chest by writing my own posts on my main account. if you knew that was my line, then you should've also known i don't need to send anons to get my point across. that hasn’t changed in the three seasons i’ve been here.
so it was never about the opinion; it was about the hypocrisy. y’all can say whatever y’all like, and y’all been saying whatever y’all like lmao. but clocking in at the burner making factory to avoid getting canceled on main while barking like a feral dog tryna cancel those who stand on business with no receipts is def more shameful than ppl telling us exactly who they are.
#the rookie#chenford#my rookie s7 commentary#anon#just bc it's mid doesn't mean it's not enjoyable btw#yk u could be friends with them right?#if only u had better social skills#and if u hadn't overcommitted to a brand u don't even believe in#head on a swivel indeed

I respectively disagree with the racism and misogyny… personally being a woc, black/asian at that too, it's crazy to see people just assume how everyone from one minority feels about something and that has to deal with the rest of us. Within the interactions given in the episodes I haven’t seen of any sort. They are just having any given conversation any characters (no matter sex/gender/race/color) would have with another character they might have been involved with.
And to the chenford of it all, I also think you are barking up at a tree that hasn't fully developed yet. Its only been the first 2 episodes, and unfortunately at the end of the day it is the Nathan/Nolan show he is literally one of the executive producers who gets a say whats put out or not when it comes to characters having screen times and whatnots. And again, we haven't really have a full on chenford scene, like in the past or a fully chenford centric episode maybe there is back story regarding their interactions…maybe we are missing something not yet revealed to the audience….maybe Tim and Lucy are hiding something.
All will come in its time. And if it doesn’t, then shit yeah let’s complain about that sure. But for now we wait
you can wait. i’ll max out what’s left of my free speech. i don’t think the way to correct reaching so hard is to not stretch your perspective at all.
there was clear misogyny here. chenford’s banter is dependent on tim making lucy look and feel incompetent in front of their coworkers. why didn’t tim focus his discipline more on seth for disrespecting his TO by arriving late, like when miles hit on lucy?
i don’t think the ending scene was racist either, but to be clear, it’s true that racism can’t be fully divested from lucy, a WOC. i’ve mentioned before that it’s a likely factor in her professional woes bc she’s going against a system that prioritizes the promotions of white men who may not have her same achievements.
i do think it’s racist to attribute all of her challenges straight to racism, just bc she’s asian. it’s like going to webmd for a headache and convincing yourself you have a brain tumor. did you even consider more likely explanations for their bias?
in fact, calling lucy submissive in her interpersonal relationships is perpetuating more racist stereotypes than any ‘hehehaha ur so hot’ jokes thus far. if there’s one thing the show’s consistent about, it’s her going against that grain as an opinionated woman who happens to be asian. very rare to see in american media but y’all wanna tokenize her anyway? weird.
lastly, it’s gratuitous to think there’s a back story that can explain why tim is so clinical in his interactions with lucy. chenford gets plenty screen time as the B couple, but their narrative is never meaningful. lucy’s arc has been tied to tim’s for like 50 eps now between UC, isabel, him being her boss, him breaking up with her, and her not getting detective. i’m tired, but i like what i’m seeing with TO lucy so far, and i’m not opposed to developing selective amnesia. genuinely hope this helps x
#the rookie#chenford#the rookie s7#the rookie 7x02#my rookie s7 commentary#y’all are gonna hate me#but i don’t remember what else i was supposed to talk ab#re: the first post 😅#we have 16 eps left for me to remember#btw melissa sweetie ur doing amazing 😍
