#icemav #top gun edit #ice is a FASCINATING one to watch post-hop 31 imo because while yes‚ obviously‚ the focus is on maverick and his grief and devastation #ice is there the whole time in the background‚ watching. and he's visibly disturbed by what he's seeing. because yeah -#he and mav had a rivalry going and yeah he called maverick dangerous and reckless to his face and he stands by that - he does.#but the problem is that this time - this one fluke freak accident of a time - it wasn't maverick's fault at all.#an unrecoverable flat spin brought on by a compressor stall from ice's jetwash isn't something that maverick could've outflown #by sticking to textbook maneuvers. it was just shit luck and shitty circumstances aligning to create a tragic mishap.#but now - now ice can see the way maverick is unraveling in the aftermath #and i'd bet that on some level it terrifies him to see that.#he's used to seeing maverick with all that brash cocky confidence with the moves to back it up.#he's maybe even had a bit of fun jockeying against that. not that he'd admit that out loud. (yet)#but maverick's spiraling now - a hollowed out shell of his former self - leaking grief and self-doubt and despair everywhere he goes #and it actually hurts to look at for ice‚ seeing maverick like this. seeing how much maverick really REALLY fucking cared under that facade #and wondering if maverick is finally taking the stuff ice said to him to heart‚ but applying it all wrong.#so he watches maverick and eventually that concern builds to a point where he tries to offer an olive branch in the locker room #you can SEE how carefully he gathers himself - how much he's holding back - he doesn't want to say the wrong thing to maverick NOW #he doesn't want to make this worse than it already is. so it comes out stilted. it's earnest - but restrained. he can't find his footing.#he doesn't know where he and maverick stand now but he's sorry - that goose is gone‚ that maverick's going through this‚#that he doesn't know how to help or what to say‚ and - crucially - for his own part in this.#but he wants mav to stick around and push through this. even though he's dangerous. even though he's reckless. ice wants him to beat this.#so when maverick shows up to graduation‚ ice is encouraged. and he's a little warmer. maverick really might pull through.#but then‚ all too soon‚ it's ice's life on the line in maverick's hands. and it scares the shit out of him because maverick's not ready #and now ice - and slider - are going to have to pay the price for that.#and then‚ against all odds‚ maverick pushes through. he comes back for them. he comes back for ice.#and after that...well.#after that‚ ice does know what to say: a vow.#my amvs #linds original

Why get off the string into the harsh and deadly world, fighting for survival and losing everything they've ever known to love about themselves?

What about the safety of their bodies? How scary would it be for a machine with thousands, maybe millions of throughs to suddenly have just a handful. The horror of everything going silent.

They have hundreds of eyes to see the world for all its beauty, they capture moments that would otherwise go unseen. Why blind themselves of such things?

Like a video that highlighted specific scenes #No it's just the whole game again but with trivia pop-ups! I love that!!#It reminded me so much of like trivia track or the pop up fun facts from special editions of movies I would watch as a kid #But you can play through them!! You have to click on them and they spin! I love that!!!#I always love hearing the design and development process - fascinating how the playtesters reacted to this new game!#We take it for granted now but yeah I imagine it would've been very confusing at the time #And I was like ''Well it was such a small team and Ms. McLain was such a large part of it - surely she'll have a few bubbles?''#She does lol - as soon as I got to her first one (it was a slow burn! They buried the lead with her lol I'm already invested!) I have had Pepperoni for a while now and I have NEVER seen him ACTUALLY shed his skin until tonight! I'd see him go blue, and then blue fades, and then boom, a few mornings later, shed skin in the tank cause he always does it overnight. BUT I JUST GOT TO SEE IT AND IT IS SO COOL, AND FASCINATING, AND SATISFYING LIKE WHEN YOU PULLED DRIED GLUE OFF YOUR HANDS AS A KID. Also like, I've never seen up close how they do it, but once it started holy SHIT, and I have VIDEO UP CLOSE!

Okay, I absolutely love the idea of Kirk and Spock having a telepathic bond. It is my most favourite concept ever and I really wanna use it in a fic one day.

BUT ANYWAYS! The reason it's my favourite because of how much Kirk and Spock could use it. They literally can send each other their THOUGHTS AND FEELINGS, what's not to love?

Like imagine some stuffy admiral comes on board and Kirk can hear Spock get irrationally angry when said admiral disrespects not only Kirk but the rest of the bridge as well. Or there'll be idle chats or questions of things like "what does -insert figure of speech here- mean?" or "could you tell me something about this place honestly where ensign ridley can't hear? i don't want the poor boy to get scared"

BUT ALSO IMAGINE IT IN LIKE AN ANGSTY CONTEXT TOO.

Like whenever one of them is rendered immobile does the other try to reach out through the link? When Spock died in WOK did he give Kirk one final "I love you, T'hy'la." before dying? Did Kirk try to fruitlessly reach out through the link right after Spock died just to ensure the bond was dead?

SIMILARILY- when Kirk died, did Spock similarly try to reach him? Illogically reaching for a man that is gone and who cannot be saved now?

Ooh the possibilities are endless and I love telepathic bonds so much.
