I had a really weired dream (well i think it was a dream couldve also been an astral projection im really unsure)

So basically i awoke on a field of grass in the middle of an endlessly expanding forrest. with trees so tall you couldnt see the canopy and it was a foggy twilight

I stood up cuz I didn't know where the fuck I was and the only thing I saw at first was a wild boar and well being raised near a forest here in Germany taugh me to never underestimate board (especially during the spring time when they have offsprings) so at first I slowly retreated to not cause it to notice me and to get a save distance and well I stepped on a twig and it shaped

The boar then turned its head to me and smiled with fucking human teeth at me before saying in a rough and somewhat deep voice (kinda like the one chainsmokers have after decades of smoking) "hello, didn't expect to see you so soon here" (like how tf do you respond to that) I just I didn't know what to say so I just mumbled something about not knowing where I am and how I don't know how I got here

Well turns out that forrest was the land of the dead and every soul becomes a plant here and like I didn't even think about how many souls mustve already lived but like the trees alone are like uncountably many not to mention the grass, lichen, moss, funguses and the likes also like and being capable of thought has a soul

Anyway he began to walk away and not knowing what to do I just followed him "It's rare that souls visit before their time comes" Said the boar in this uncanny voice "even I as one of the older guardians have only seen it a few times" I started at him in confusion and a sense of abstract horror

I finals managed to say a full sentence without stuttering of shock/fear "what do you mean guardian what are you guarding?" He looked at me before turning away again and saying "you'll be happier not knowing" Like wtf does that even mean what is there that could be so mindbogelingly fucked????

Well I'd get part of the answer soon cuz we walked past another resident of the forrest at first I thought it was just a normal deer grazing but OH BOY WAS I WRONG turns out it was a so called "rebirther" Meaning it ate the souls in the grass with his deer mouth and fuse/remix them and then spit out a big ball of fresh souls out of a vertical moth that streches the entirety of their front neck shortly after that the ball disintegrates to be born

So anyway shortly after this I woke up in a cold sweat and I could hear a faint "see you sooner than you think" I'm still unsure about wtf just happened but I dont think I should go sleep for a while

good morning evening and night folks i have been pondering THIS for 12 hours straight and after writing what. appears to be a beautiful essay in my words doc i’ve just decided to throw all my thoughts at the wall instead. love that essay but it is becoming so very well-written academic work and i am so deeply unserious online.

anyways. on the subject of odysseus and diomedes and their shared boar vibes. the thing i kept coming back to was how boars were fucking TERRIFYING in ancient greece. to the point where the calydonian boar hunt (essentially just 30 dudes rocking up to kill a divine pig*) is a whole Event its a whole Heroic Tale. because you think 30 dudes can get that boar without a scratch WRONG two guys die and peleus stabs some other dude in the confusion. boars are ruthless and frankly overpowered as fuck little bastards in ancient greece and of the four i can think of with names at least TWO of them had divine origins somehow (calydonian and crommyonian).

and honestly? ruthless, terrifying as fuck, difficult for a horde of men to stop let alone some guy? got some nebulous relationship to the gods that give you strength? holy shit thats tydeus right there babey. he kills like 49 guys and sends the other one home as a warning. he literally gets married off of Boar Vibes dude. its his whole personality.

and so obviously diomedes, whose entire job for ten years is Bring Honor To Dead Father, is like well shit! time to adopt the whole boar vibe! i mean he’s literally compared to a boar in book V with unending strength truly he is the boar guy junior. he fights hordes of thebans/calydonians/trojans without resting, he cuts down hundreds of men without mercy, he gets athenas favor and despite how well he plays the part he is so tired. he’s ruthless, but does he want to be? he’s skilled in battle, but has he known anything else? he’s favored by the gods, but did he ever have a choice in that?

meanwhile odysseus. odysseus who is scarred by the boar he hunted as a child on his thigh. escaped what is otherwise certain death. marked so deeply by an animal so connected to divine rage that it transcends even athena’s disguise. it is this scar, that proved him equal in combat to that boar, that identifies him to his friends and family. that helps him retake his house and throne. just. the scar itself cements odysseus’ mortality but it also transcends any attempt at concealing who he is.

anyways putting all these thoughts together. i think that for diomedes the boar symbolism is something that doesn’t quite fit. its something that stretches and aches, like an old shirt thats too tight, because its not indicative of him its indicative of tydeus. but tydeus died at thebes, and diomedes has to live up to his legacy, so he tries regardless and it never quite feels right. meanwhile odysseus fights tooth and nail to survive, even when he’s surrounded like a boar by hunters and their dogs. sacks cities and kills hundreds of men and for all the help he gets from the immortal gods, odysseus remains wholly mortal. maybe the real disguise is how diomedes is the one scarred and odysseus is the boar, but neither of them look it.

lily be the kind of vampire to awkwardly flirt her way into acquiring your blood type and barty be the kind of shithead to laugh and mock her for it while she actively has her fangs inside him

lily as a vampire is a wonderful concept because i have trouble imagining her out of the sunshine. i think she still looks as lively & red-blooded & sunkissed as the farmers daughter she was before getting turned and it’s very dangerous.

vampire!regulus is my favorite though… that man is allergic to three different blood types and will despondently sigh after sucking someone dry because now he has a rash. he got turned in 1446 after his monastery gave shelter to a dark & mysterious stranger (he was the ambiguously homosexual spare son sacked off to go illuminate manuscripts) and he specifically was bitten because he was the only monk bitchy enough to verbally be like “hey maybe we should not give shelter to this guy his vibes are fucking terrible”. only thing he ever enjoyed in his undead life was living to see high collars & male corsets come into fashion and he’s still sopping around moping about how short-lived it was like a century later
