#thirteen cards

ok so i have a lifelong fixation on the card game Thirteen, which is played with a normal playing card deck, and i do this thing where i analyze all the media i like by what strength/rank of card each character would be. and i decided i was going to make a venture brothers card deck based on the rules of 13 and draw a character on all 54 cards in the deck.

i started this process YEARS AGO. and have gone through multiple irritations do to improving my art overtime, and i was actually close to finished with it but then my drawing app got CORRUPTED. and i have lost access to every single piece of digital art ive ever made. so. NOW im starting the process AGAIN with watercolors. but whatever who fucking cares.

A headcanon for Father’s Day:

Simeon finding Luke crying, surrounded by cards, all of them unique and different with special messages on them. Sime obviously asks his poor bab what’s wrong and Luke tearfully replies:

“I have too many dads to give cards to and I’m barely halfway done 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭”

What a problem to have, little guy, what a problem to have.

(Everyone loved their Father’s Day cards btw, legend has it that Lucifer ruffled Luke’s hair without calling him a chihuahua)

chapter summary:

She was in a good mood. If she was ever going to take it well, it would be now.

“Maman, what if I went to school this year?”

excerpt:

“Heh.” Adrien flicked a finger beneath his chin and strutted the length of his bathroom floor, glancing at himself in the mirror. He twirled a rose—a red one, one he’d grabbed from the vase downstairs—between his fingers and then presented it to the mirror with a flourish.

“Haruhi!” he declared, “the spring of my heart surges upon the sight of your fresh smile, my love. My heart beats at the command of your drum! Your face is the fierce longing of my soul, and I present to you now this token of my lavish, undying—”

A sharp knock clicked against the bedroom door and Adrien froze, his hand still passionately hovering over his heart.

“Adrien?” Nathalie’s voice called, and Adrien—true to character, if he did say so himself—startled so hard that he slipped and fell onto his butt on the tile.

“Yeah?” he called, hastily pulling himself up and trying to find a place to set down the rose.

Nathalie peeked her head through the bathroom door and took him in, his rumpled hair and the too-small blue blazer he’d saved in the back of his closet for occasions such as…this.

“You have a guest,” she said flatly, and Adrien could not for the life of him figure out whether she was making fun of him.

She left before he could decide, and then it was only a matter of seconds before his bathroom door was thrown all the way open and a blonde ponytail bobbed into view.

“Adrikins!” Chloé crashed into him, wrapping him up in a hug that nearly knocked him over again. “It’s been way too long. You’ve been neglecting me. Aw, did you get me a rose?” She plucked it from his hands and then scrunched up her nose. “Ew, is this real?”

“As real as the current that springs from the well of my heart,” Adrien invented, and Chloé frowned at him like he’d just spoken Greek. “Nevermind.”

She looked him up and down and scrunched her nose up even more. “What did you do to your hair?”

Adrien frowned at his reflection in the mirror and pushed his hair further over to the side.

“I was trying to make it look cool.” He’d been trying to make it look like Tamaki from Ouran High School Host Club.

“It looks like you just rolled out of bed.”

A rant about recent Thirteen cards

As peer tradition in this blog in the last months, I want to complain to everyone that yeah, this Ssr Is two separate stories for not good reason, and honestly it's so fucking ridiculous that every time Thirteen appears, she's forbbiden from participating with the full cast, be It Devilgram or Event

And this Is not a coincidence, this has happened since the launching of Nightbringer, More specially, everything began with this card

Normally, all her Devilgrams are:

1.- There's a mains conflict with the "main" characters

2.- Thirteen appears in part 2-3 and does something completely unrelated to the Main plot

3.- Conflict resolves, nobody acknowledges that she was here or that she's a character at all.

When was the last time she talked to someone else other than MC?? Without counting Mephisto at the end of S2, the last time she spoke to anyone else was Little D no 2 in the Halloween event.

And I mean, I'm not going to say that I dislikes any of these Devilgrams (Your Shinning Moment Is so good, almost Made me forget all of this) but It feels so... Othering? Thirteen Is a much as important as Mephisto or Raphael, why these two can be involved in storylines but she doesn't? And I don't say this because I hate them or want them to be involved less (I love them, If you follow me you know), I want Thirteen to be involved MORE

I just wanted to vent again, I know that not a lot of people cares, but while I liked the DG, I was kinda wondering why I keep pulling these cards just to get mad in the end, maybe because I wish that next time will be different? But I mean, I think there's this saying that goes like:

"insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results"

I guess this applies to me...
