CAUSE IF YOU HAD YOU WOULD OF KNOW THAT THE FUCKING "NUKE ENDING" HAPPENED IN EVERY SINGLE DSMP LORE FINALE OF SEASON 1. EVERY SINGLE ONE EXCEPT FOR THE SYNDICATE ENDING HAD ENDED WITH A GIANT FLASH OF LIGHT.

THE REASON FOR IT? XD FUCKING LOOPED THE SERVER. IT'S CANON THAT XD HAS BEEN LOOPING EVERYONE ON THE SERVER FOR WHO KNOWS HOW FUCKING LONG. SAM BUCKET CANONICALLY IS AN ALTERNATE SAM FROM ONE OF THE LOOPS WHERE THE EGG HAD BROKEN HIM.

THE ENDING WE SAW ON JACK'S STREAM IS THE ENDING OF THE NEW LOOP WE SAW TEASED AT THE END OF TOMMY'S FINAL LORE STREAM.

IF YOU HATE THE "NUKE ENDING" OF THE DSMP IT MEANS YOU HATE THE FACT THAT EVERY FUCKING PIECE OF FANFICTION IS CANON CAUSE THE CHARACTERS HAVE BEEN LOOPED FOR WHO KNOWS HOW LONG SO EVERY FANFICTION IN THE DSMP UNIVERSE IS FUCKING CANON.

the dsmp was good. it told interesting stories, in interesting ways. a lot of love and heart went into it. even the ending. there's no qualifiers here. it was just good and enjoyable and i'm glad it happened.

i wanted to experiment with tubs’s design a bit and make him more?? anthro? i remember seeing designs of this guy having full-on goat features and i thought those were hella cool, so i tried adjusting this guy’s design a bit.

im still sticking with his half-human design by the way (maybe??)

this is a design for them being a shapeshifter, which i might start to incorporate in my headcanons. 💥💥💥

Tommy's original DSMP ending was absolutely terrible for fans of his character. Partly because so much of it was done just because they felt they had to destroy it all in order to lead into a new server. It's far from the only thing wrong with it but yeah.

Like I think? the intended read of that end was hopeful because look TOmmy and Dream have a fresh start maybe they can be friends this time. Also Tubbo's here, what will their relationship be like. It all hinges on what comes next making it worth saying goodbye to what is.

So naturally with that sequel scrapped it just leaves our characters all dead and the server gone.

This light retcon isn't really a conclusion, it's more saying we remember the server. It's gone but we're not and we remember it.

Cause yeah. You can't go back to the server anymore. It's dead. But the server was only ever about the people on it, and the friendships and conflicts they had. Other than a few cool builds, what made it special was always the history. Like the most iconic parts of the server were Tommy's bench, his constantly rebuilding house and the path. Techno's house and the prison and the main community house were also all up there. These are special because things happened there.

Hearing therefore that Tommy and Tubbo and Jack are all alive and have mostly moved on is all we really need to hear. We can imagine that some of the others are doing their own thing too.

But then on a quiet october sunday tommyinnit and jack appear at your doorstep with The Grief

it is the second time ranboo is hiding an eye from tubbo, and he forgot how terrible he is at it. they managed to keep it a secret for this long, though, so he can't stop now. they know his preferred eye size, managed to find out his preferred ring size without causing too much suspicion (they think), and today is the day. tubbo should be home any minute now.

oh, they're gonna throw up.

everything is going to be perfect, it has to be. he's rehearsed what he's going to say, how they're going to kneel, even practiced putting the ring on with michael (who is being the best little secret-keeper right now), so it's going to be fine. it's tubbo, how could it not be?

the door unlocks and ranboo promptly drops the box he'd been fiddling with.

he dives after it (quite heroically, one might say), forgetting that he is very tall and the floor is very far away. they land pretty hard on their shoulder but manage to keep the box from view of the door, which opens just in time for ranboo to gain some additional bodily harm as sweet michael all but tramples them to greet the man at the door.

scratch that. the bastard at the door.

because tubbo is doubled over cackling, wheezing something about family guy while he watches ranboo struggle to their feet. they should really reconsider marrying this guy. not even a ‘hello’, a ‘how are you’, an ‘are you ok’, this could be serious, tubbo could seriously be planning their demise. marriage is a lives-long commitment, ranboo can't just pick some guy who's gonna axe them for the insurance money. the guy in question scoops michael up and spins him around while the toddler shrieks in delight.

yeah, okay, plan’s still on.

speaking of, michael is whispering in tubbos ear prime dammit. ranboo suavely (read: panicking) plucks their kid out of tubbo's hands with a haha kids these days amirite and shoos michael off to play. they turn around and tubbo's smirking. aw man. he strolls up to them, grinning ear to ear saying darling, dearest, what is this plan that michael tells me about in that tone where he knows exactly what plan they have. ranboo groans as tubbo dances around them, going awww ranboo you like me so much you want to co-parent with me forever awww with that same shit-eating grin because he knows he's right. the situation would be more frustrating if ranboo wasn't head-over-heels for the man (literally, as of about a minute ago). they suppose he never explicitly said that the secret was to be kept from tubbo. hrm.

welp, cat's out of the bag and tubbo's not gonna get any less insufferable about it, so he may as well just do it. ranboo looks tubbo in his eyes (he's wearing one of the first ones they made for him) and steadily gets on one knee. tubbo's being very composed, but his little goat tail's going a mile a minute. it offers ranboo a sense of relief. its tubbo, and with any luck, it'll always be tubbo.

they begins their speech, only stumbling over their words a few times and keeping easy eye contact with tubbo for the duration. when they get to the part with the ring and almost drop the dang box again, tubbo laughs harder than is really necessary, giddy about the whole thing. they're both smiling hard when ranboo asks tubbo underscore, will you marry me? for real this time and opens the box.

not to brag, but they really knocked it out of the park. inside the box is a simple and sturdy copper ring with a honeycomb pattern etched in. there is also an eye, made of quartz and diamond with a netherite pupil shaped like a heart.

tubbo honest-to-prime squeals and drags ranboo in for one of those kisses where it’s all teeth because they can’t stop smiling. he says yes, of course. the ring is on in an instant and tubbo dashes to the nearest mirror to put the new eye in, asking a million questions about how much this cost and how’d they sculpted it like that and if he can have one of lapis or amethyst next. michael trots over to the commotion and is promptly scooped up by tubbo who tells him michael youre not going to be part of a broken home anymore. ranboo points out that the home in question was never broken in the first place, which his fiancee (!) ignores.

as he watches his husband-to-be show off his ring and eye to their son, ranboo thanks whoever is up there that this is who he gets to spend his days with. to have and to hold, to bicker over flowers and colors, in sickness and in health, in war and in peace, theyll be together, ranboo and tubbo, against the world.

Okay so, I know some people are happy that we got this litte look at he future (because I don't think the nuke end was really retconned) but like. If it was, wouldn't it make it 100 times sadder?

The world is empty. Most people have left, most to just die somewhere else. Tommy is a ghost haunting a server long abandoned. Its dead but he just can't let go

Not even Dream is here anymore, Sapnap and George chasing after him like they always do, gone the second they woke up from their long dreams. If you were to look into their eyes they wouldn't recognize you

Wilbur and Quackity have both left to decay and explode somewhere else, and with them took a good handful of Tommy's friends. Bad always had a home-base to return to, and the original members rest there peacefully

And Tommy just. Stays. Hopes for a visit. Never grows, never changes, isolated from anyone. This is a worse ending then forgiveness and understanding and fire and brimstone.

He's just alone collecting dust

Please what you're describing isn't a happy ending is just a second worse bad ending. Healing comes from community and connection, not from defeating the big evil

You know, I feel like we don’t talk enough about how sensitive and painful scar tissue is. Maybe because most people haven’t had stitches and huge, deep cuts. But let me just share as someone who’s had quite a few surgeries and injuries, scars are really tender. Like I cut the side of my pinky pretty deeply and I couldn’t wear rings on my ring finger for like a year because the ring rubbing against it hurt so much. And after I got my eyebrow stitched up, I couldn’t pencil my brow for about a year and whenever my sunglasses bumped against it, it hurt so badly. The surgery scar I have on the base of my thumb from when I was 4 years old still hurts if I’m stretching or using my thumb too much. The bigger the scar the worse it is too, which makes sense. I have two scars about half a foot long on the inside of both of my knees and they took forever to not be super painful to touch, even now they can be a little sensitive. All that to say, even when a character’s injuries are healed they would still have a lot of pain and tenderness going on from any sort of touch, even months after, especially in the places with the most nerves. Just something to think about…
