I don't yet. When I finish up my re-read, I'm going to gather ALL of the DOTC cats and start dividing them up into the three cultural groups. After getting them all in bundles, I'm going to whip them up into proper family trees.

If you're asking about canon's family tree... I can make it if you'd like, but I'd just be showing you the ticking timebomb of genetic diversity they set up for themselves. It's all Quiet Rainkin and random forest cats, most introduced after book 3. None of the other settlers had grandchildren and the living children have no mates.

There's nothing to "preserve" about the canon tree, unfortunately. It's not really a "tree," it's more like a couple of bubbles with a ton of dead women floating around outside.

i seriously need more narumi and mina moments because just imagine the relief mina felt when narumi joined, similar age to her and was also considered a prodigy in the force.

to have someone to share the burden of the defence force’s future with must’ve felt so freeing. because before he joined it was just her, age 18, being told that she was going to change kaiju extermination with her exceptional synergy with firearms. and she was so, so scared.

narumi doesn’t have the kind of skills or talent for long range combat like she does, but he’s also a top candidate (despite his behavioural issues- which aren’t much of a hinderance anyway) and mina doesn’t have to carry the burden of the future alone anymore

(although she’d never admit, given she probably views narumi as someone completely shocking i just think it’s so funny how she stood there like O_O when she first saw him)

like i LOVE seeing the contrast. mina who was sent onto the battlefield for the first time and was deathly afraid vs narumi who was sent out and immediately took action because that’s how he always lived (fighting)

and now they’re the top two strongest captains in the force and they will be the ones to lead the new generation..

I like the fact Tremaine's designated color is pink while Germaine's is maroon because if I draw them together it looks so bright and happy but they're in a dying world and both commit crimes many times a week just to survive. But hey, whatever.

at the end of the day church and tex are pygmalion and galatea and we just have to accept that. like the story of the sculptor who fell in love with his own art

bc she really is just his own creation that he loves and wants to love him back and wants to be whole but she’s.. not. she’ll never be anything outside of him, she’d never exist if it weren’t for his imagination (since she isn’t truly allison she is his concocted version of her) and because of that she can’t be human

he loves her as some fucked of version of loving himself (he loves who he was when he was with her and loves that he created her and that she is wholly his)

the difference is that alpha is no god, no aphrodite, and he cannot create life, he can only fragment himself which is why they do not get the happy ending of pygmalion and galatea, they instead are doomed to repeat and echo the agonies of the people they mimic

I do have to b honest tho, I do Not think that trailer was queerbaiting in any form. They stood next to each other and Shadow carried his injured friend to save his life so that his friend could save their universe. The "love you too shadow" bit was more queerbait-y, and even then I don't really think it was that much either!! Maybe I'm too aro for this shit idk

i would imagine they do!!!! its kind of a weirdly developed friendship, the kind where sulluvan keeps bothering her about marrying him, and mochi finds it annoying but she cant completely cut him out because she needs to maintain a good working relationship, and all their run-ins do lead to a "friendship"

though they dont hang out like mochi would with coco/lime/oscar/taffy. if they were ever to go out anywhere, it would be a "date" (by sulluvans fault), and otherwise its him hanging around the cat cafe (pre-timeskip)/the bookshop (post-timeskip), with mochi just kind of letting him hang out

but the timeskip period is kind of uh.....special? its a time where mochi is particularly alone and its a time for her to navigate being a full-fledged witch, really also a time to get more confident in who she is and what she can do, and the only companionship she really gets besides pom and the merchant (though its very npc-like) is sulluvan coming to see her, bringing her little gifts, they play chess or little board games or something when she has downtime (he insists. she actually cant get rid of him, and she doesnt have anyone to hang out with, so she obliges)

(lime is absolutely livid when he finds out about this. "Oh so this asshole can see you all he wants, but I have to bend over backwards trying to find you?? I see how it is." kind of thing)
