anderperry but im evil so todd actually confesses to neil (in poem form or something like that) but his love is unrequited (sorry) so things get more awkward around them and it never really gets fixed so todd just steps back and theyre not as close and eventually neil gets a girlfriend so neil is in plays and stuff and then imagine neil bowing after a play and stuff and receiving flowers from his girlfriend cause she’s an angel and the sweetest person ever so todd hates himself for hating her and stuff and neil is being cheered on by all the poets and he’s so happy and todd just stands nearby in the shadows and admires him because he is so in love because neil is literally the most incredible person ever but it hurts so much because neil will actually never love him back

so basically think footnote and heather by conan gray and the scene in little women where laurie is like “i think you will marry, jo. i think you will meet someone and you will love them and you will live and die for them because that’s how you are and you will. …and i’ll watch.”

Remus Lupin and James Potter are my top two fav marauders first of all. Secondly, i feel like it could be a very compelling ship!!!! james and his lil savior complex and remus and his lil loner “nobody could ever understand me” complex

was going to do a long meta about Amy and Laurie in Nice and how they fell in love and how amazing Alcott’s writing is when they reunite at Vevey and the proposal scene (it’s pure poetry!) but the quotes were waaaay too long so i’ll just say this:

Laurie and Amy both met each other again in Nice at very turbulent points in their lives and they each helped the other to become a better version of themselves. Amy pushed Laurie out of his lazy stupor and made him realize he had to make something of himself and not waste his life, while Laurie made Amy realize that even though it was prudent of her to marry rich, she shouldn’t do it at the expense of her happiness.

Laurie going away and Amy refusing Fred only confirms for them the feelings I think that were starting to bubble up in Nice. While Laurie grapples with his own demons in Vienna, I think Amy starts to realize that, with Jo no longer an obstacle, she can allow herself to love Laurie as maybe she always wanted to deep down. She tries to fight it of course, and even says she must be “kind and treat him like a brother” but I think both of them find it harder and harder to deny what has been simmering for a long time.

When they reunite in Vevey it really does all fall into place. They’ve each become better people, not because they wanted to change to earn the other’s love (like Laurie thought he could for Jo), but because they push each other to become better people for their own sake.

And that’s why their story is so great. It’s not just a love story, it’s a story of mutual character improvement and growth.

Okay I know it's like unpopular now or whatever but the Laurie/Jo in this PBS miniseries is so.... WHEW

To be fair I think they could explain the monologue scene by saying that Mike felt pressured to say it because El would die without him. Either that or use the monologue to confirm Els thoughts that Mike only thought of her as a superhero, and to show how unhealthy this relationship was. Ushering in her breaking up with him (bc the only way the general audience would be able to accept Byler was if El was the one to break it off). It could also be a neat parallel to Little Women (which was used as inspo for this season) where Laurie gives a giant monologue love confession to Jo and she rejects him which then prompts him to reevaluate himself before falling for Amy. So maybe in season 5 Mike and El break up and he goes through character development and realizes he loves Will.

i like the concept its just the fact that its so late in the show. i think if theyre gonna do that, el shouldve confronted him after the monologue in this season and break up with him now and then explore byler all of s5. now they’ll have to cram the breakup and getting together with will in the last season and i think it’ll just seem pretty half assed and last minute. i also really hope they dont save a kiss or confession for the last half of the very last episode bc i wanna see them as a couple and come out to their friends. it just seems like it wouldve been so much easy for them to break up this season and start out with byler being an option from the very first episode of s5 bc mikes single.
