I am once again thankful for the community of Tumblr. We’re all weird, creative lil gremlins that have the silliest obsessions over side characters and movies that have been out for decades but we all vibe together and everyone GETS it. It’s beautiful and harmonious, a place for the weird, the wild, the freaks, the lovers, the nerds, the sillies to all co-exist. 💕

I’m saying this because today I rather sheepishly admitted to my siblings that I am, in fact, writing silly one shots of James Norrington and my OC together as a couple. And they LAUGHED.

The utter humiliation I felt, especially since online, especially here in the whimsical world of Tumblr, I felt seen and heard and validated. I’m just so confused on how anyone could see Norrington as anything less than a beautiful Shakespearean styled character??? He’s gorgeously well-written and I only recently appreciated that. Why would it be weird to want to write fanfics about him? Everyone should understand the appeal, even if he wasn’t your forte. But no. My oldest sister even went on to say “Norrington???” in the way most people say “eww.”

Needless to say, I wanted to cry and I came running to Tumblr. My safe haven. 😭💕✨

TLDR: Tumblr has the best, most accepting community for sillies like me and I appreciate it immensely.

I started listening to Midnight Burger (on ep 20) here are some of my thoughts (in no particular order):

I like all the characters, but I'd say my favorite character is Caspar.

I totally thought it was going to turn out that Caspar was a child when he first found the diner, and the Mucklewains (No clue how to spell that) where kinda his psuedo parents and that's why he was so distressed when the channel changed, and why he was so defensive of them.

also thought that the "Management" that Caspar mentioned in ep 1 was who took him after the diner wasn't open for 3 days.

Good for Effie and Zebulon on being the Hot Ones.

Also thought that Caspar was somehow what made the diner be able to time travel

I will admit, I honestly didn't like Gloria's Ted rebellion, mainly cause I feel like the diner is a neutral party, just that being that active in conflicts felt antithetical to what it is. Not that it would necessarily help the Teds, but like it just wouldn't be such an active opposing force. (I don't know what I'm trying to say here, it just felt off to me.)

I know this is going to be a long rant, but honestly, Caspar shouldn’t have been the only one to apologize.

He never would have tossed her into space if she hadn’t put them all in that situation. Like, what Ava did was, to me, way worse.

Caspar told her what his plan was, Ava gave absolutely no warning.

Caspar gave her a choice to do it willingly, Ava didn’t give anyone a choice.

Caspar checked that it was safe, Ava had no idea if she was putting everyone in danger.

Maybe I’m being too harsh, and I know I am biased towards Caspar, but Ava is honestly being such a hypocrite.

“No. I’m not going to forgive you. I’m also not going to apologize for betraying your trust and doing the one thing you asked me not to do. Yeah, you were right, the suit was safe, but I’m still not going to forgive you for making my actions have actual consequences for me.

Actually, I’m even going to insult you, and say that you’re being a selfish asshole for having feelings, and insinuate that you always get your way, never mind the fact that I, Ava, almost always make everyone go along with what I say, because I’m smart and the rest of you are idiots.

And now I’m even going to insult you further by basically telling you to your face that you’re useless and nobody even likes you, we only tolerate you.”

Honestly, if you ask me, Caspar didn’t need to tell Ava about his son, he doesn’t need to justify his place at the diner. The diner is a place for people who need it, and no one should have to tell the others why.

Sure, Caspar knows the others’ reasons, because he’s been at the diner the longest, but he’s not prying, or demanding they tell him.

I felt the same about Effie and Zebulon not wanting to tell them about why people left their church. They clearly didn’t want to talk about it, (I think they might have said that word for word) the others should have just dropped the subject.

Like sure, eventually Caspar should have told them about his son, but it should have been because he trusts them and wanted to share it. Not because he was made to justify his place at the diner.

I know I just bashed Ava a lot, but I don’t hate her, I just think she’s in the wrong here, but the narrative kinda makes it seem she’s right.

I know Caspar calls her out, but he’s the only one to do so, and he folds on the point pretty quickly.

I really, really hate the fact that people are using minorities within the U.S. to try and guilt people into voting for Biden. I hate that when you criticize him or just state you won’t vote for him people always want to come back with “oh so you hate minorities? You hate transgender people? You think kids belong in cages?????”. Don’t you fucking dare use the suffering of actual people to try and garner support for that man, you don’t get to just ignore that immigrants are still being detained at the border, that he decided to continue with the fucking wall, that immigrants, even U.S. born Latinos are still being treated as fucking criminals. You don’t get to ignore that he’s done nothing to protect the transgender community from absolutely vile transphobic laws, you don’t get to ignore the suffering of these communities until it’s suddenly convenient for you. Police brutality has only gotten worse, nobody can afford to fucking live, Covid is still killing and disabling people every fucking day, you can’t just ignore these things because Biden is president. Nobody thinks Trump is going to be “better”, but we recognize that Biden is fucking wretched both domestically and internationally, we recognize that things are already so fucking bad it’s going to be real hard to make anything worse, sometimes it feels like the only thing that’ll end up changing if Trump wins the election is that you fuckers will suddenly speak up about all these issues again just because you can blame it solely on Trump now.

Bro how does anyone still have a twitter account at this point... watched D'Angelo's twitter video and there are so many conservative gays who are transphobic on there it's insane and it's more than a corner community, it's like everyone on there being openly transphobic, homophobic and racist, the algorithms of twitter actually promote this kind of rage-bait to your dashboard no matter how many times you attempt to curate your space to not see that type of content. That place is a cesspool and needs to be destroyed it's actually terrifying and worse than I knew about.

one more dacre post for the evening if you will permit me

thinking abt him growing up and his life before the hunters attacked. was probably a small town, not a lot to do, what's a big family to do but spend a lot of time at the local church - one of the more well-maintained buildings around. no fighting in the church, no words of anger, it was a safe and peaceful place per the adults' rules.

not that it stopped dacre from the occasional scuffle, but he did admittedly like it. he liked the piano and he liked singing. learning from his elders - in the pack and in the general town population alike. and he enjoyed being able to cheer up the younger members of the family with his skills, liked being able to do something right for once. most of all, he liked the rosary given to him by his pack; a bead painted by each member.

as a child, dacre probably wasn't even able to harm pest animals. he was the sort of kid who cried when he accidentally stepped on a bee - and not just because it stung him when he did. he was the kind of kid that pretended not to care + be rough and tough, but had a big soft spot, something the younger kids knew even when the adults assumed he was simply a troublemaker

in my current/first bg3 playthrough, due to a series of unfortunate choices and events, everyone at last light inn became shadowcursed undead and had to be killed. including dammon. which means there’s nothing I can do to fix karlach’s engine (at least as far as I am aware). and if I think about this fact too hard I WILL cry. my girl karlach deserves the whole world!! and I can’t give her the one thing she asked for? to say I am devastated is an understatement
