Last night me and babe deciphered my MRI lab report. From what we understand, there is a disc protrusion between L4-L5. The disc hasn't raptured (yet), so it isn't a hernia, but there is a "very narrow relationship to the nerve root". The bulge is located centrally, which explains my nerve pains on the right side as well as the left. There's also signs of wear on two other discs, which happens naturally with age as well, but mine seem to have worn down faster.
I don't know what the treatment will be yet. I'll have to wait until the neurologist appointment on Friday.
I'm glad it isn't a hernia (yet), but I'm mostly just relieved to know it wasn't all in my head 🥺🤍 ..

Finally planted the butterfly bushes my grandpa & aunt gave us last summer (housewarming gift) 🦋
#my grandpa passed away 3 months later#he gave us the purple/lilac plant (right). it's the same colour of the flower arrangements at his funeral#i saw the first butterfly in our backyard this morning so i took it as a sign to plant them today#both of them survived over the winter and one of them is already growing a new plant so i'm hoping they'll pull through#until we take on the backyard and retile everything we can't plant them so this is only a temporary solution#fingers crossed 🤞🏻

I had my MRI today. Luckily the scan only took like 7 minutes. I didn't know the inside of the machine changes color. It was pretty & relaxing to look at :)
I'll get the results of the scan in about a week

I had the intake with my physical therapist today.
After talking him through my background and reason for being here, he asked me to stand in front of him with my back towards him. The second I got into position, he was able to point out the issues. The pain has caused me to overcorrect by putting more weight onto my left leg, as well as leaning forward a little bit to take pressure off of my back muscles. He only used two index fingers to correct my posture, but it still hurt like hell.
He also said the muscles from my shoulders all the way to my lower back are extremely tense. He was surprised to hear I don't have frequent headaches.
Long story short: he believes the 'inflamed buttock muscle' I suffered from back in 2021 was probably also actually a hernia. The only thing that puzzles him is how my pain started travelling from right to left throughout the day, about a month or so ago. Even though the pain has been getting less this past week, he does encourage me to still take the MRI. It'll help him tweak my treatment plan as well. The waiting time for a scan is 3-4 weeks (2-3 now).
Until then I have to practice going on 3 to 5 short walks every day to improve my blood flow, so oxygen and nutrients can reach my back muscles and help them recover. Next week I have my first 'hands on' appointment with him as well.
Stupid walks for my stupid mental AND physical health it is 😜 just kidding. I've wanted to explore the city we've lived in for half a year at this point for months, so I'm excited to build up endurance and hopefully take care of the hernia in the process🤞🏻

Assistant called me back half an hour later. She was able to reschedule me with another neurologist on the same day.
Just got a call that the neurologist is sick. All her appointments this week are cancelled and will have to be rescheduled. I was finally supposed to see her on Wednesday.
#my fucking god. i'm so relieved. that was an emotional rollercoaster. holy shit#i can't stop crying
