saw a tiktok of someone assembling "proof" that kageyama doesn't hate hinata, and i'm gonna say this so kindly, but if by episode 4 of season 1 it isn't blatantly obvious that kageyama does not, in fact, hate hinata, then i'm gonna need you to go back and try again.

yes, kageyama calls hinata a dumbass and insults him and fights with him n shit, but he also boasts about/praises hinata's ability every chance he gets, albeit in his own Kageyama Way (ex. s4 ep13, atsumu and kags talking while karasuno is getting warmed up/changed, saying to atsumu "yeah, hinata sucks, but i don't, and he's really not all that bad either, so i think we'll be alright.") a better example would obviously be when kageyama is outright complimenting hinata's speed and jumping ability in s1 episodes 1, 3, and 4, and there's also ofc the "what have you been doing the last three years?" which i'm counting as a compliment as well.

not to mention the fact that kageyama is only physically aggressive with hinata. kageyama dislikes tsukishima (although 'dislike' is a strong word because i don't feel like kageyama really truly Dislikes anyone. he's not the type to hold a grudge. he's still chill with kindaichi and kunimi. he even still holds respect for oikawa after almost being backhanded by him), but he doesn't ever try to hit or kick him or anything. yeah, kageyama will insult him sometimes, but it's never anything more than that. the only one kageyama fights with is hinata.

and i guess the insane way to phrase this would be "Hinata's the only one Kageyama deems worth fighting with," but the more normal way would be that he can be himself with hinata. he trusts him enough to let his guard down. kageyama is respectful to others (ex. literally anyone other than tsukishima and hinata, but it can almost even be said that kageyama has at least a little bit of respect for tsukishima via asking him for help when it comes to studying), and hinata's really the only one he can completely relax around. he can let himself be vulnerable around hinata, hence why he's the only one he fights with.

i feel like it's easy to forget that kageyama (in the anime) is a 15 year old boy. he's going to fight with his friends. if hinata's being an idiot, kageyama's going to smack him upside the head. that's just what he's going to do. there's no deeper meaning to it.

i'd almost go as far as to say that it's a way of showing affection. it's a way of showing hinata that he cares enough to swing back at him. but i also might just be utterly insane, who knows.

the funniest meltdown ive ever had was in college when i got so overstimulated that i could Not speak, including over text. one of my friends was trying to talk me through it but i was solely using emojis because they were easier than trying to come up with words so he started using primarily emojis as well just to make things feel balanced. this was not the Most effective strategy... until. he tried to ask me "you okay?" but the way he chose to do that was by sending "👉🏼👌🏼❓" and i was so shocked by suddenly being asked if i was dtf that i was like WHAT???? I think a lot about how common it is for Raph to be the one to have direct focus put on him when Leo gets into all his near death experiences.

Like, when Leo is thrown off a building, it’s Raph who’s right there jumping after him, not even thinking about the consequences to himself when he does. When Leo almost gets skewered by the Krang, Raph’s right there to take the blow and send Leo to safety without a second thought. When Leo’s being strangled to near death, it’s a Krangified Raph doing the job, doing exactly what Raph would never, ever want to do. When Leo is telling Casey Jr to close the portal, it’s Raph who tries desperately to convince Leo otherwise.

Likewise, Leo is consistently very single minded when Raph gets forcibly separated from them. Both when in the sewers and by the Krang, Leo is dead set on finding Raph first and foremost.

I also think it’s interesting that during each of Leo’s near death experiences, the lightheartedness of his words during them goes directly hand in hand with both how close Raph is to him physically and how much danger Raph is also in in that moment. From a literal “I told you so” as Leo’s falling away from Raph to a soft joke about how “hero moves” are Raph’s style - both of these are on the more morbidly carefree side and both of these notably take Leo farther away from Raph and, in turn, have Raph not in immediate danger.

On the other side of things is the apology from Leo, heedless of the danger he himself is in as he seriously and genuinely speaks to a Krangified Raph face to face. Then there’s Leo’s freezing and desperation as Raph takes a hit meant for him and sends just Leo to safety, leaving Raph himself behind. Both of these involve much closer proximity and Raph being directly harmed - these together make Leo much more vulnerable in his words and actions, something not even the threat of death can make him.

These two care about each other so much, and they’re way too much alike for their own good.

i personally have very complicated feelings on the Gotham Knights video game and the routes it takes with characterization. i think it has a charm to it and it goes in an interesting direction with everyone (especially within the confides of the plot of the game) but it does have certain moments that veer painfully fanon for me. (such as: the dialogue where Tim drinks too much coffee) it's an interesting story for what it is but i don't view it comics-based for characterization and therefore don't care to interact with it much for like. fanfic purposes.

that *said* though. i do have to give the game some kind of credit for giving one of the top five JayTim moments that lives rent free in my mind. every since i played the game, the cutscene lives in my mind daily. it's the specific cutscene where Jason and Tim are arguing about whether or not Jason's non-lethal bullets are too dangerous for the field, and the argument leads to TIm *standing in front of the target* Jason is shooting and telling Jason to shoot him. it lives rent free for me. i never stop thinking about this.

the absolute certainty Tim has that he is in no danger standing in front of Jason, who has a loaded gun pointed at his face. the way Jason *hesitates* for just a moment before lowering the gun. he thinks about it for just a second. Gotham Knights JayTim seem to get along very well and can rely on each other, but Jason still clearly holds a bitterness about his death and Tim that flickers through in some lines of dialogue under the guise of jokes. especially since this game deals *heavily* with concepts of Pit Madness causing an altered state of consciousness, i think it's believable that occasionally, Jason fights the urge to fight and hurt Tim for the feeling of being replaced.

i like their tension so much in this canon. they get along but you can *tell* Tim is afraid of addressing Jason's trauma or even addressing Jason head-on, and Jason leans into spooking Tim about it. which isn't very comics feeling in their dynamic, but it is an interesting way to place their dynamic if you're playing with a more timid Tim who's newer to the role of Robin. (which he seems to be in-game) he really doesn't want to offend Jason, or worse, piss him off. but he'll still face Jason head on for things like this, while completely aware of what Jason could be capable of.

and Jason seems very protective of Tim and respecting Tim as a Robin in typical Jason fashion. if Tim pushes, Jason *will* relent. he knows this is a kid who's proved himself and should be treated with equal respect, sometimes even more than Dick and Babs do in-game.

so for all that to culminate in Tim stepping in front of Jason's loaded gun that he *knows* is on the edge of being too dangerous, just to force Jason to listen? it's the most unhinged way Tim could've gotten his point across in this scene. he was literally daring Jason to hurt him and playing with a very dangerous fire. but he did it anyway bc he believed he could make Jason heel just at the thought of hurting Tim. and he was *right*. they're gay and i'm feral ty.

once again i really do think armand’s morality and view of his own morality is summed up by “i tried to be good, am i no good?” because he KNOWS he’s not, but he so desperately wants to be good in any way he can be, so that he can be desired. and this in turn means he is deep in denial about any bad he has done other than the deep seated feeling that he is simply “bad” as a vague concept and not the sum of his actions. anyway who’s up thinking normal thoughts about characters.
