❥ for pre nibelheim (because i miss soft and not crazy sephiroth), i cant see him getting all that much jealous? i guess he’d get more so protective if he sees someone all up on you— but otherwise, he’s pretty laid back about it. he puts a lot of his faith in you entrusting that you won’t break it, so i cant see him going crazy over it.

❥ i think sephiroth’s mature enough to not cause a scene even if he was jealous, though. he wouldn’t be petty or actively try to keep you away from anybody pre nibelheim, although he finds it amusing how they try to flirt with you.

❥ he especially has to have trust in you considering he’s a first class!! unless you are also a SOLDIER or you’re associated with shinra, you guys will spend semi-large gaps of times apart. he doesn’t think you’d betray him like that though, he’s mature enough to have a conversation if he’s really worried.

❥ sephiroth has his moments of insecurity, but usually when he’s off duty— he’ll be with you. i’m just imagining sitting at a bar with sephiroth as he’s literally right beside you while this persons trying to slide up next to you lol. i also don’t think sephiroth gets jealous because he knows his worth and know he can be intimidating when he wants to be!! even just his teasing makes people quiver in their fuckin boots lmao. i doubt anybody would wanna mess with a first class SOLDIER who’s fit and over 5’11” / 180cm.

❥ after they either get intimidated or realize their advances aren’t working and that you’re happily in a relationship with sephiroth and leave, he’ll chuckle to himself as he thinks aloud about how silly it was to even attempt to get with you, knowing who you’re with. on the off chance that he’s feeling a little possessive or something, he’s not one for pda but he might just give you a kiss after they leave and a quick murmur of amusement due to their foolishness.

Lots of mixed feelings and im also getting a hint of toxicity but a sweet one? Idk how to explain it - like wine?😂 as i said in previous readings i think he enjoys emotional torment in some way. So first he would feel personally attacked - even if he's not close to that person or if they aren't actively trying to steal them but he just noticed how they look at his crush or partner. I think he has lots of trauma and insecurities from last relationships which explains his hypervigilance and over sensitivity. He would get doubtful of himself, feel disrespected and attacked by the other person even daring to look and desire his crush/partner cuz how dare they?!?!! His crush is HIS!!! I don't think he's friendly towards his "rival". If its about his s/o tho i see it going in a different direction where his doubts, jealousy, insecurity etc might lead to fights. He also feels disrespected and makes him feel kinda cold towards that person but also towards his crush too. I think he feels insulted by that person especially if its a closer one. ok i know this may just be my thirst for symbolism but if he was a son of poseidon it would be so cool especially since I had Lily as a daughter of Athena (and Athena and Poseidon are constantly at odds). Poseidon was known for his intense jealousy-- "better than Zeus!" but not by much. And he can really wreck your ships if he's unhappy with you.

Okay I know I said Sirius was a son of Aphrodite. And I know this is going to sound... odd. But. given that this is headcannon and they only need to share 1 parent, I'm actually going to say Athena. This kid is a child of thought. He was a major turning point in the war. This would also explain some of the times he and Sirius butt heads, because of the difference in the way they think. Regulus lays low and changes the course of the war with one move.

across the room, he stares at the girl he loves. he stares at her with that one expression everyone knows. eye brows lightly furrowed, lips in a slight pout, arms crossed, legs crossed. to anyone he wasn't close with (so practically everyone), he looked upset. pissed off even.

but really, he wasn't mad. not even in the slightest. in reality, he was just watching the girl he wants to kiss.

he's not mad. rather he's curious. the way you draw everyone in, like moths drawn to a source of heat, it really makes him think.

he's sitting in a corner, by himself. he thinks he's not bothered by it, but he really is. he'd never admit it.

he has a lot. he feels content with the skills he has. many of jealous of him. he's strong. he's fast. he's smart. he's unbothered. but theres just something that he does not have that just pesters him in the back of his mind.

you're not really strong. you're not that fast. you're emotional and sometimes irrational. you are smart sometimes. you lack the qualities he has. yet, he can't help but he jealous of the quality you do have.

Some trans dude thats like hella conservative just left a comment under one of my posts. On one hand its the funniest shit I've ever seen. I think he thinks that im like a therian? Bruh im just horny and like wearing a collar lol.

But serious talk now, its kinda sad seeing that. Since I used to be like that. I was so insecure and looking for approval from cis men that I did what he did. I would misgender other trans people if they didn't follow gender roles. I would say really misogynistic shit. I only accepted "LGBT" and no other labels.

And guess what? It was miserable. I was constantly policing myself. If I thought about anything "feminine," i would treat myself terribly.

Looking back, the reason I did all of that was out of jealousy. Being jealous of trans people who had the ability to transition medically but didn't care to pass all the time.

I tried to defend myself by saying "oh if trans people weren't weird, we'd have more rights." Yeah right, transphobic people are transphobic, no matter how well we present ourselves. Policing other queer people for being "cringe" does nothing. We're all in this together. We're all people.

I just hope that the man who left a comment under my horny post (which is confusing, why are you looking at horny tumblr?) takes time to himself. To look inside and see what pain there is. I don't want to show the account, I dont want people to go to his account. I just hope he realizes that life can be "cringe", and theres nothing wrong with that. A lot of his posts are calling posts cringe or calling people delusional.

I'm not personally a very jealous person in terms of relationships and I don't think my partners are either, but the absolute must in a relationship is to stay open and communicate your feelings, especially in a poly one. I don't think we are in the same position in this, from what I can tell your partner is the one with multiple partners just like me!

My best advice is to bring it up with them, I'm sure theres many ways they can reassure you wether it's quality time spent together on a game or watching a movie or just chatting! I know I was feeling like me and my boyfriend weren't spending as much time together as I'd like, and now we do :] My girlfriend was a little worried at the start of the polycule as well, she was very brave (i know how hard talking up can be) and brought it up and we talked about it and its all good now <3

Zakai doesn't want anyone to see her as emotional. She's scared of people leaving her or hurting her again, she wants to avoid that so she doesn't really let anyone see that. See her vulnerable and sad and guilty. Anger, for her, is more okay for others to see but mostly she tries her best to be cold and logical. Which is not her default.

Lucien mostly isn't one who hides a lot, what you see is what you get. Mostly. Lucien tends to hide his feelings of inferiority, fear, jealousy, and guilt behind this mask of "I'm a Tybur so I'm better than everyone". He's not really one who apologizes either, much to Zakai's chagrin.

Valentina hides a lot behind flirting and attention from romantic partners. Valentina has abandonment issues, after all, made worse by Zakai leaving. So. She dates around, it never goes past a 3rd date at most. And thats if the person is lucky, really. She's cold and detached because she doesn't want anyone to leave. Valentina is just scared of being left alone, of having to step up again and again. Of being in charge of everyone else.

Melissa doesn't want anyone to consider her insecure or unattractive, she wants attention and she wants to be loved. Thats all. The idea that she's unlovable is a fear so strong it can cripple her. Dear god she just needs a nice woman to show her that she's so loved and so pretty.

Selina doesn't want anyone to see her as afraid, very specifically. Selina got used to being strong for Melissa and Soren, much like Zakai and Valentina, so the idea of being scared just feels like disappointing those shes most protective over.

Soren wants everyone to be happy and he appreciates how everyone in the family is particularly worried for him. However, hes scared. He's scared that those within the family are breaking down and apart and it terrifies him more than any Marleyan's judgement. He wants his family safe and happy.

There isn't anything particularly that Zakai is vocal about, shes a rather quiet person.

Lucien will not shut up about being a Tybur. Again, uses that fact as a safety blanket/mask and also to convince himself that him being born wasn't a mistake like his father insists.

Valentina, like Zakai, isn't vocal about a whole lot. Shes pretty reserved and quiet most of the time.

Melissa is very, very vocal about how cool Selina is. How pretty and talented she is. Melissa is Selina's own cheering squad. Much to Selina's annoyance (but also Selina loves Melissa for her, cheering squad included).

Selina is only vocal about the fact that if you target her family, you best run. She is willing to beat the absolute shit out of anyone who hurt her family. Mostly, though, she will match whatever the person did except tenfold. Someone insulted Melissa? Selina gonna make em cry.

Soren is vocal about becoming a Warrior, following Zakai's footsteps and being "just like her". Well, until he gets the Paradis (s4) experience that is. Then he's vocal about that if everyone just keeps killing each other, what will be left?

For Zakai, the worst thing would be that she's the black sheep of her family. The outcast, the only one who doesn't belong. She feels it so strongly and, once upon a time, someone did tell her that. Valentina did, in fact.

The worst thing anyone could say to Lucien is that he is a mistake, that he should've never been born and that all he's ever done to hurt everyone around him. Especially after Willy dies.

For Valentina, its gotta be someone saying goodbye again. Especially when theres a chance they'll die. Oh. Wait. S4 Zakai >:)

Melissa's would be to tell her that no one will ever love her because all she does is fail. Which. No one tell this poor soul. She's just a babygirl :(

Selina on the other hand? Failing to protect her family. She just wants to protect them so anyone telling her she failed that? Oof poor sweetheart.

For Soren, the worst thing one could say is no doubt related to Zakai. His worst fear is failing her so. That. But also he's babey too so don't do that.

🌱 SEEDLING - what is their most vivid memory from childhood?

Zakai remembers two things most vividly. The memory where Lucien betrayed her, implying that he'd tell Marley that she was a traitor. She didn't even think, just begged him not to. Think Scar and Simba. Zakai ended up running, just like Lucien wanted. The other memory is one with Valentina, where she betrayed Zakai. Valentina had slammed Zakai against the wall, actually punched Zakai too. Told her, basically, to "go die for Marley then".

Lucien's most vivid of memories is probably the one where he met Damien and was taken in by the Tyburs, taken away from his mom at only 6 years old. For Lucien, he never thought that it was too much. After all, he doesn't have a good relationship with Adele (despite her attempts).

Selina and Melissa's most vivid memory is the same memory, suiting for a set of Twins, eh? It was the day Zeke came back, having just gotten his titan alongside his rank. He had to explain to the family that Zakai was "sent on a mission early". Selina had shut down while Melissa ran to Valentina, sobbing and crying about wanting Zakai back. It was a painful day for the entire family.

Soren's memory was of Zakai. Of how kind and friendly she was, having just taken a break in her training and teaching him the very same things that he saw Adele teaching her. It was what motivated Soren to be a Warrior the second he could. Years later, he started to train for the Aberrant Titan.

wow i think eras tour live stream cured my depression!! i mean seriously. i went over to the bday girl party and it wasnt just a lot of ppl it was the usual group and i felt less like i didn’t belong and i actually wasnt freaking out about the guy. actually i wasnt uncomfortable at all and it was wonderful. idk what happened but i feel like i see clearer now. he IS just a regular guy and just being nice to me and i blew it up in my brain. but wow hanging out today changed it. i even know his ex’s name and a lot of things about her  and i didn’t spiral. i saw how he close he is w her but i also see how hes close w the rest of the group too.

and him. i dont want him anymore. i dont want to steal him away and keep him in a pocket. i dont want to murder all the girls he surrounds himself w and more. i really dont. i truly don’t have much in common and we don’t have good conversations nor do we know how to joke with each other. and quite frankly he’s just back to regular guyy and not like hANDSOMEST guy i’ve ever met in my entire life. wow. this feels insane. i guess i’ve shed enough tears eh? maybe that intense cry i had at 3 am on monday was enough to knock me to normal again??? even if we dated it’d be NOTHINNG. i wouldnt be happy and i can’t believe i am at this point.

i've made up my mind i'm gonna ramble for a bit. leaving the cage to go off :3

i'll provide a bit of context first; three characters are relevant to this. dont worry about their names being weird all my ocs have keysmashy names they;ve been the same for years. these characters are lotol, squiqol, and lakuta. lotol's the character in my pinned, although that version in particular is the in-rift version; she has a completely animal version of herself in her home world she just looks like that cuz of the ghost. squiqol is her brother who doesn't accompany her. and lakuta's the guy that causes problems in the rift, he's the light deity and he sucks and he's my fav deity. tricky lil guy trying to upend all his peers because he's angry at a problem that is entirely the fault of his own jealousy (the other deities are weather [who's also lakuta's sibling theres more context on that as well], and life, and the death/afterlife guy stepped down. and then they're made by someone all-powerful but plays on an equal field, though its kind of hard to be equal and he knows that)

some background on squiqol and lotol is that lotol is effectively completely normal and unremarkable in ability and successes. squiqol has the ability to wield magic and is, between them, the successful one ; he's not actually that much special in his world, it's common in their species, but compared to lotol? she feels overshadowed and jealous but that's her sibling so the tension goes kind of unacknowledged. and squiqol is the one responsible for lotol ending up in the rift, though it's entirely accidental and he had no intent on causing it

so in lotol's eyes, it's the universe showing her how disposable she is compared to him, etc, and she's more angry than forgiving, building up emotion as she proceeds to try and figure out how to get home. unfortunately the only way to get home puts her in the way of the absolute disaster that is the deities relations, theres more context on to why that is but it'd make me write here forever. the idea that she shouldn't blame him or be mad does not cross her mind. in my eyes lotol's not even actually a very sound character at all, i think she has the potential to be but i haven't considered much her own backstory because when i initially made her she was literally an afterthought and then i scrapped her and brought her back a million different times over the past 4 years. my point is that she's not the most rational; she has the capacity to be, but it's not her go-to especially when she's in such a stressful situation

but then there's absolutely, somewhere, a turning point. i'm murky on this because the whole storyline lotol has isn't very fleshed out - most of the storyline in the rift isn't fleshed out in general, it's largely just a timeline of what each character was doing/did, i'm workinf on it it takes a lot of thinking

and i think that turning point is an encounter with lakuta. i am very confident he'd have caught onto her presence early on and tricked her to try and make her a sort of pawn for him to get at his peers, that relates more to the ghost thing than this though. but at some point, because he doesn't really care, she'd become aware that not only was he not a friend, he would fully have intended to drop her the moment she stopped being useful, make her feel more discarded. and at some point there'd be confrontation and an actual fight, and while i can't say i'm decided on the outcome of that fight, win or lose that's her turning point. it's, in a way, her facing her own anger and beating it down, and afterwards she'd understand that it was not squiqol's fault, and that it was nobody's fault. and i think at that point she'd be determined to forgive him, even though he's not aware of her status at all or how she was feeling or anything. anything. im not certain the takeaway lakuta would get from it, i just had the thought that it could reveal his own insecurity in what he'd been doing, that his own egotistical facade would crack a bit. i don't think he'd realize just to the extent of horribleness he'd become, but i think they'd both learn something from it. i like the idea that they could be a reflection of each other's jealousy and anger, even though they're both wholly different and have little to do with each other, but my way of getting these ideas across is all mushy rn bwuhhhh soi many ideas in my head. i will never let the rift go its been 4 years i think i have to stick with it honestly. do yall like my insanity /silly

i honestly like all of the dynamics.. but. i feel like orifiel and mischa make me the Craziest overall for story reasons (which are only vague ideas for now) ..

mostly because theyre two lonely people that ironically are fundamentally very similar but also very different. they are really based on polar opposites and it makes me enjoy them a lot.. mischa who grew up alone and unwanted by his family obsessed over the religious unreachable figure that orifiel was to him and grew up with so many emotions regarding him - love, hate, obsession, admiration, rage, feeling of injustice and jealousy... all without having even met him JKSDKJD

and then theres orifiel, who despite growing up as an object of affection never really got a chance to pour his all into one person.. he grew up with a very warped view of love and affection (it being one-sided and obsessive) and. mischa feeds into it for selfish reasons. and. jesus i dint even know what to say here because my brain is FRIED

orifiel is a very selfish person too in some aspects so ultimately. theyre two lonely selfish nonbinary FREAKS who dont know how a healthy relationship looks like.

at one point in the plot (bad ending?) i have this. thing planned in mind. mischa almost dies since a certain plan goes wrong - and orifiel literally sees Red. like despite all his reason and rationality he resorts to a desperate speedrun of human experiments - the thing that is the core trauma of his childhood :] fellas is it gay to bring back your boy best friend to life but you dont even recognize him anymore . he doesnt even feel human anymore but you cannot bring yourself to lose him . at the same time you wont grant him the mercy of freeing him from the life of being a mindless beast like Omggg whats wrong with you

another bad timeline? ending? thing? VERY VAGUE THOUGH. i had in mind was mischa just. going Wrong at some point . where to guarantee his safety he decides that he must pretend to be the enemy (part of the Church)... hes a wholeass vampire mind you. the church fucking HATES vampires. well . his religious trauma goes bonkers at some point in this timeline and he ends up blackmailing orifiel into increasing the power of the church so that his position of power is guaranteed . hes a bit of a selfish asshole but i accept him anyways .

i feel like i talked a lot about mischa here. but orifiel. jesus Christ girlie. he doesnt even know it but hes self-destructive to an absolutely crazy degree. letting the church do whatever the fuck it wants to do with me ;;3 i have no identity and no name btw ;333 everything is okay and fine. at the same time he also thinks hes the greatest person and entity ever so like idk whats his deal i want to eat him alive

It's a marriage of convenience, with you helping Albedo while also getting benefits such as protection. Albedo, your husband, married you for the sake of his sister who got an incurable disease. He needed someone to take care of her since he is too busy for that. Luckily, there's you.

It's a marriage out of love, well at least for him. For you, this marriage is a golden opportunity to become closer to Albedo. An opportunity to steal his heart. Even though your true intentions are different, you still took care and love Klee. She is like a daughter to you.

You both lives in a small house prepared by Albedo in Mondstat since Klee can't handle cold temperature with such conditions. Because of his works and projects, he was rarely there. You can't blame him since he is the Chief Alchemist after all.

At first you don't really mind the lack of presence of your husband as you're well aware of how busy he is but as the days pass, you started to be self conscious, aware of the loneliness that even Klee can't cure.

You're aware that Albedo doesn't need to eat, but it doesn't hurt to try.

After alot of struggling and hardship of going to the harsh snow, you finally arrived at his lab.

There you saw him, Albedo, your husband is there with Sucrose experimenting together sitting oh so close to each other. As his wife, there's a spark of jealousy and insecurity in your heart, burning it to ashes.

You open your eyes, droopy and sleepy after what it felt like days of laying down. You found yourself laying on a soft bed. You groaned a bit, putting you arms on your forehead as you turn your head to the left.

There's a tall ginger figure sitting near the window, looking out to admire the view of a foreign place. You sit yourself up and then it hits you, you're in a foreign place, in a foreign man's house, almost half naked.

"AHHH!" Sharp scream shoots out from your mouth. Shocking the unknown man as he quickly approach you. You pull the sheets that were covering you up to your chest.

'Wait, this isn't covering enough.' You then decided to move as lightning, wrapping the sheets around your body like burrito to fully cover you except for your face. "Who are you and why am I naked?!"

A loud annoying laugh bursts from the man, it went on for long to the point that the ginger had to cover his beautiful&hard abs stomach and tears starts to prick out of the corner his eyes.

"Why are you laughing?! What's so funny huh?!" Your face turns red from anger and embarrassment. You can just imagine fumes coming out of your ears like it's always described in books you read before.

You took a peek from under the cover and just stared at the glass. The ginger just sigh with your behaviour. "You do you, girlie. Don't search for me when you want something."

"Hahah- Calm down stranger! I saved you from dying in a river you know! You were so injured you might've died if I didn't saw you earlier! You should've thank me. Plus, you're not naked. They're still bandages on your body, unless you want me to remove th-"

"STOP" You yelled, face covered in the red of embarrassment. You hide your face in the sheets, in an attempt to save yourself. He just chuckles, walking away from the bed to grab something and putting it on a small table near the bed. "Here, drink this. You must be thirsty."

You reach out for the glass and drink the cold refreshing water slowly considering he saved you. "So, may I know your name sir?"

He looked as if he was expecting the question. I mean what's more important than knowing you saviour's name?

"Ah! Glad you asked. I'm Childe, also go by Tartaglia. It's yours to decide which is what you desires to call me. Pleasure to meet you." His self introducing is quite flowery, I guess.

"I'll just call you Childe" Since he acts like a child *eyes roll emoji*

"Alright! Childe it is. And may I have the honour of knowing your name?" He requested with a cheeky smile decorating his face. Right, talking about his face, you must admit he is quite handsome. His beautiful blue eyes, locking eyes to eyes with you. His masculine and exquisite face shape makes his handsomeness pops out. His smile is cheeky and annoying, yet charming. Oh, his physique is good too.

"Ehem- Stranger? Are you done staring now? Are you a pervert?" His words snapped you back to earth. Realizing that you, a stranger to him, are fucking staring and scanning his whole body is so unacceptable. You're embarrassing yourself a lot today.

"Oh! R-right! My name is [name]. Sorry for my rude behaviour."

"Haha! Don't be, [ name ]! I can't blame you for being attracted to my charming self." You' re too annoyed to tolerate him. Not today. "Where is this? What happened? Why did you save me?"

Questions upon questions fired from your mouth.

"Woah there stranger! Calm down now, would you? Well first of all, we're in Liyue. Second of all, I don't know how you were injured and ended up floating on the river. And to answer your last question, I rescued you simply because I thought you look pretty. I wouldn't have the heart to leave such a pretty lady all injured." He answer, with a quite honest expression. You believed him as he is you saviour, but that last answer really is unnecessary.

"I don't remember how I got injured. I only remembered running somewhere and falling into a river. Maybe I was being chased. I felt a really sharp pain in my abdomen and after that the world turns dark and I somehow ended up here." You explained to him.

"Huh, you must've lost your memories. But now worries [name]! I'll take care of you until you fully recover. It's dangerous to let you go unauthorized in your current state." He offers, looking happy to help. You were reluctant at first, but considering he was kind enough to help you, you decided to stay with him. After all, if he ever dare to do something bad or inappropriate, you'll just kick him in the crotch. No biggie.

"Why are you so nice to me, Childe?"

" I already told you so, you're pretty. I wouldn't let such a pretty woman miserable. I'm a gentleman" You just smile at his words. Hoping that you will recover soon so you can pay this ginger back.

"Eh, btw Childe, where's my clothes? I don't want to stay here only covered by bandages." You want to get your clothes back as quickly as possible. Being naked here with him feels dangerous. For you, atleast.

"Oh about that, I found you topless at the river. I didn't look of course. As I say, I'm a gentlemen. But I did took a peek and whew, you're quite sexy in my eyes." He blurted out in honesty. Too honest. His comment made you flustered as fuck and immediately hide yourself under the cover again.

"CHILDE! THAT IS THE OPPOSITE OF GENTLEMAN!!!"

Childe's laugh decorates the atmosphere. In Childe's heart, he wonder who are you to be able to make him genuinely happy. And on that first encounter between [name] and Childe, he finally feels real joy after a long long time of being lost in emptiness.

i do think the jealousy in school reunion is really interesting i think thats a really fun part of the doctor companion dynamic to explore, what makes me roll my eyes is the we're both in love with him "the missus and the ex" thing

but like the jealousy thing on its own? just the flipside of the making people feel special thing that we explored a bit with 12. the doctor does single people out, does make them feel special, their attention is like a fucking spotlight who would be immune to that warmth

but the other side of that then is like, was it their attention that made me special? was it their companionship that made me special? thinking of donna going travelling "it's all bus trips and guidebooks and dont drink the water and two weeks later youre back home" like sure thats comparing what the trips are like but like, that also describes sort of like, who you get to be on those trips right? a tourist vs a hero

thinking of yaz in combat magicks being like "yaz liked wearing her uniform because it marked her out as someone who belonged anywhere. ready to help, and with the right to intervene. the doctor just breezed in and made the whole universe her business, like she was born to it, and yaz longed for that confidence." thats sort of what being the doctor's plus one gives you, right? access to everywhere, without consequences, except maybe your own death but the doctor makes you feel invincible too so you dont worry about that

so sure there would be jealousy but i think making it into an ex-girlfriend kinda jealousy flattens it? "in amongst 7 billion theres someone like you" and then you get to save planets. you become a part of the doctor's hero complex. you get to see beautiful amazing things but you also get to prove yourself a hero every day. thinking of rose "the doctor showed me a better way of living your life. you dont just give up. you have the guts to do whats right when everyone else just runs away" you get to feel powerful. you get a lot of agency where in your daily life you probably dont have a lot. thats what the doctor gives to those handful of the seven billion. so what if they take it away?

thinking of clara asking "why me?" and sarah jane "did i do something wrong?" why did i get this opportunity. and why was it taken away. was it anything i did? and if it wasnt, then doesnt that undermine all that agency you made me feel like i had? can i do this on my own too? and of course lots of companions prove they can, they dont need the doctor to be who they are but idk. i think it would still be kinda insecure-making when youre still with the doctor. when youre still in the middle of it like rose in school reunion. when you dont know yet what After will look like

and this is something the fam doesnt have to deal with i think. because they came to the doctor. they werent picked, they werent offered, they asked. they dont have to wonder 'why did you pick me'. which im kinda relieved about especially thinking about yaz? imagine having to wonder 'was i a friend of convenience' on top of everything else. oof.

and another thing is that of course for the doctor the rejection hurts just as much. when a companion says no thank you, your way of life doesnt seem that fun to me (anymore)

anyway so uh tldr i guess the jealousy thing is interesting but making it a romantic jealousy is not whats interesting about it

With all due respect op, what movie did you watch?

wi(l)d-screen baroque is a sequel movie. The point of the movie is the girls have to put aside whatever feelings they have leftover from the anime to move on to the next stage. They'll die as stage girls if they dont. Theres no characterization because you're supposed to go into the movie having watched the anime. And the first hour + the baby Karen/hikari flashbacks are build up to the revues. The Revue of Annihilation (Nana vs Everyone) was to bring everyone back into the revues, and to make them realize they'll die if they stay the way they are. The Revue of Costars (or Competition depending on the translation) couldn't have happened in the anime because in the anime, Mahirus was dealing with her insecurity and lack of confidence, and Hikari was dealing with her previous loss. The entire reason Revue of Jealousy happened was because Mahiru was jealous of Hikari "stealing" Karen from her and needed to learn that her brilliance stems from herself. The Revue of Costars/Competition was so Mahiru could tell Hikari to stop with the whole Homura Akemi act and tell Karen that she wants to go beyond Starlight. And Nana didn't start her time loop plan because by the time the movie starts, her time loops were LONG over. She lost to Hikari and Karen in episodes 8 and 9, losing her chance to continue her loops. She only had the ability to use the time loops in the first place because she won the giraffes audition. But, as Nana herself says, this isn't an audition. The Revue of Hunting happens so Junna reaffirms her drive to become the lead and Nana gets over her idealization of Junna. The Revue of Souls was for Maya and Claudine to become equal with each other. There wasn't a scene of Maya revealing her French because that already happened.

Edit: The Revue of Resentment was because Futaba and Kaoruko needed to end things. Futaba was ready to move on, but Kaoruko wasnt ready to lose Futaba.

The movie does not have the same conflicts as the anime. If it did, it would go against literally everything the anime stood for.

again with all due respect, what I think you're looking for is Rondo Rondo Rondo, the anime recap film. It has a lot of the problems you talk about here.

Revue Starlight: The Movie

Just finished Revue Starlight: The Movie. Possibly the most gorgeous anime I’ve seen, the soundtrack was even better than the show, and there was absolutely zero narrative cohesion

I didn’t know if the movie was going to be a remake of the show or a sequel, and apparently it didn’t either. It nominally takes place in their third year of school, except nearly every fight is a redux from the show. They’re all incredible and should be inserted into the show at the appropriate time, but they don’t make sense to happen in the third year

The movie had a lot more of baby Karen and Hikari, and I loved it. They were so cute, and it really fleshed out the backstory. The cost of this is that there was absolutely zero characterization of the other seven girls. What made the show so good was how each episode fleshed out the relationship between two or more of the girls, culminating in a conflict that was settled via the revue. In the movie, each scene starts in media res at the start of a fight, with no explanation of who the girls are or what they’re fighting about. If you already know the story from the anime and can remember the several missing scenes that led up to the fight, that’s fine, but it doesn’t work at all for a movie

The biggest offenders are the two new fights: Mahiru vs Hikari and Nana vs everyone. M vs H would’ve been wonderful to include in the anime, so I’m glad it gets to be shown here. Except, in the narrative established by the movie, the two characters have never interacted before! Hikari is brought in straight from England to find Karen and Mahiru intercepts her, but there’s no way they would know who the other is yet

Even worse is the Nana vs everyone fight. They did Nana so dirty in the movie. So the movie has established that the girls are about to graduate, and now Nana initiates her time loop plan. (Not that it’s mentioned a single time that her killing all of them is because she’s going to reset the timeline. At one point much later she mentions her “repeat performance” with zero context, and that’s it.) Obviously this contradicts the anime, which shows she never wants to give up her first year of school, and merely by making to graduation she’s lost her ability to force a time loop. What makes even less sense is that even though she defeats the rest of them, it has no effect on the narrative. No one ever brings up that Nana killed all of them on the train, even though the timeline should’ve reset there and didn’t. Nana wasn’t even a villain the anime, so this feels like they took the fandom interpretation of her character :/

There were some things that were done really well. While the fights were good in the anime, I love how they included a lot more transformations between cuts this time. Besides being stunning to watch, bringing the stage to life like that really built up the fact that the swordfights are a metaphor for their acting competition (or vice versa). I particularly enjoyed that Claudine got little fangs for the first part of her fight with Maya, although I’m disappointed they cut the reveal that Maya secretly learned French just in case she had the chance to reveal that Claudine’s “private” praise of her wasn’t so private

I also realized about halfway through that we hadn’t seen Karen’s transformation sequence yet. It did get a gasp out of me when I saw the opening for “I Am Reborn” during the Karen vs Hikari fight at the end, even if it didn’t play out the whole thing

Overall, as cool and gorgeous as the movie was, it was a big letdown. It only makes sense as a series of set pieces remastering scenes from the anime, and the narrative glue was either lacking or straight up nonsense. While Revue Starlight the show was a solid 9/10, Revue Starlight: The Movie was a 6/10 at best. It didn’t even have Starlight in it
