I will never understand the Grant Chapman haters because they’re like, ‘But the guy isn’t even canon, and he spent years living rent-free in Sirius's apartment. Even after Sirius got out of prison and was absolutely traumatized, he asked him to get his act together to take care of Remus.’ And I’m like, really? Yeah, he isn’t canon, but who cares? Would you rather Remus have spent those 12 years of his life alone, mourning Sirius? He’s probably one of the happiest headcanons in this fandom, lmao. As for him being insensitive to Sirius… he loved Remus so much, and when you love someone, you just want them to be taken care of, especially after you see how much they've been hurt. Honestly, the hate for this character is so forced. He did nothing wrong.

Of course, he still knows he's a werewolf, so every full moon he uses magic to confine himself in a basement. The excellent birthdays, elaborate pranks and endless laughter. He doesn't remember the friends that made Remus Lupin Remus Lupin, but the wolf remembers. The wolf remembers running through a deep forest with a stag and a dog and a rat. The wolf remembers the cool breeze coating his fur, the hours spent howling at the moon. The friends that had once accompanied him. The wolf continues to mourn their absence every month as Remus once did. However, one night, twelve years later, as he is howling out in agony, the wolf hears a familiar bark. Imagine after Dumbledore dies Mary can remember everything again and eventually she decides to write to Remus she sends the letter to Remus and Sirius' old flat/apartment assuming Remus still lives there only for her to get a response from someone named grant Chapman saying he used to know Remus and has been living in remus' old flat since 1995. Grant also mentions he was still writing to Remus only for the letters to stop at the start of March 1998, as Remus had died. Imagine the shock and pain on Mary's face as she wishes she never got her memories back. And imagine a 19 year old harry Potter getting a letter from a Mary McDonald explaining she was a friend of lily, James, Remus, etc etc, and she'd like to see him. When they eventually meet up Harry is faced with an older version of a face from photo's harry found of his mother and her friends at godrics hollow.

this is the one. the most popular fic in the harry potter fandom. the fic that got me into fanfiction. the fic that i sobbed to for months after reading it.

i tried to bind this three separate times over the last two years and bro the first two sucked ASS. it was legit the very first fic i tried to typeset which is like, not the greatest thing to start off with LMAO. it looked funky, i hadn’t fixed any of the spacing, my footers didn’t match the text font or size. it was very much a baby binding.

the second one was my first time using a cricut and there is a very steep learning curve w the cricut, especially in creating designs that aren’t too complex or too plain. i tried to copy one of the popular printable book jackets and omg i spent weeks modifying my designs and printing and reprinting on my cricut and it looked like trash when i was done.

so finally, we have come to this.

i got really into quartos during the winter and was like omg the editing process for this would be so much more manageable if i broke it down into years! so then i did lol. it allowed me to customize each chapter into sections so i could add the chapter title to the footers, and break down graphics into separate years so i didn’t have 100 pages in one canva file. it was just a lot easier to feel accomplished having broken it down bc this fic is a MONSTER.

every chapter heading is the same - just the swirl. i gilded all the chapter titles using toner reactive foil and my laminator (she broke in the middle of this project. i ended up having to buy another laminator, and about 3 packs of foil from icraft. this is my most expensive fic binding to date🫠). i included the songs ms.kingbean put at the top of every chapter, and the bootleg tapes and christmas special.

i am seriously so proud of how this turned out, and can’t believe it’s actually done. sorry this is super long, but this really was a labor of love. they’re not perfect, i’m still really bad at measuring and cutting straight lines, but i’m satisfied. really satisfied.

Remus needed Grant but Grant never needed Remus. Grant loved Remus more than Remus would ever be capable of loving Grant but Grant never needed Remus like Remus did with him. Remus was Grants little but of magic but Grant was Remus’ oxygen in a time where it was impossible for him to take a breath of air.
