Calling out specific fandoms is not the move
The people who play so-and-so game also watch so-and-so show and support so-and-so streamer. Everyone hops interest to interest and their attitudes and biases follow. The borders of online communities and tags and forums are imaginary.
There is no one group to blame, there is no gas leak source, there's no villain, its everywhere, its societal, not a unique symptom of one sub-culture over another like please dude cmon.

what's your opinion on fanfics about dnp? (more in a way of do you think that it's crossing boundaries and/or being parasocial)
i'm of the same mind of dnp in that phanfic is fucking incredible. it's an important and valid way to express yourself, as well as a building block of our community. i don't think it's crossing boundaries, as it's fiction. i don't see it as parasocial either--you're writing for you and others like you. most people don't want dnp reading their fics, it's not for them in a sense, it's for us.
i think dnp are extremely aware of fanfic and its value and place in community. they've always encouraged it, appreciated the support, and given us space about it. they're not ones to make videos about it and mock fans for it (which happened to some of our lovely fic writers here writing for other yt fandoms, and i'm so sorry about it). dnp are fandom culture people. they've written fic themselves! and published it in their book!
the word parasocial has been twisted lately to imply any fan support is unnatural and should be shamed, which is complete fucking bullshit. making art is always important and valued. and it is necessary for your existence as a human, but also for the thing you're a fan of to thrive.
the parasocial side comes in once you start believing you know this person. and that you're their real friend. when in reality, they do not know you specifically, and you are not their friend, you are an audience member.
so a parasocial relationship only occurs when people start crossing boundaries (digging for not publicly available information, contacting people in their personal life, showing up to their house, etc). which, is absolutely nowhere close to real fan behaviour.
tl;dr: phanfic is great, i love you fic writers, parasociality is a problem but not one that we have

People getting mad about that comic of a bisexual man being excited about another guy (who he mistook for a girl) in a dress is so wild.
Yea I get that we as trans women don't want to be seen as men in dresses, but I promise you that the gap between all us queers-fucking-with-gender is NOT a chasm!!!
You have more in common (including community) with femboys, fags, dykes, butches, gays, and esp trans men, than you do with the random cis people you want gendering you correctly.

i really like a lot of the banter in veilguard, it's one of the few times the companions can actually exchange some verbal jabs especially at the start of the game. i've said repeatedly that this game is lacking friction and i stand by that ☝️ i think the problem isn't that they all automatically get along, some of them don't at all in the beginning-- Davrin and Lucanis i think are the most obvious, and Taash and Emmrich as well-- but the thing is. Rook just speaks their therapy-speak to them and suddenly it's all fine. we don't see a lot of the friction in cutscenes or significant questlines, only in banter.
again there is Davrin and Lucanis of course who i do think are the most successful and organic relationship in the game. and that's because we actually get to see them go from being hostile to supporting and ultimately liking each other, and it feels born out of mutual respect rather than Rook forcing them to hold hands.
i like a lot of Bellara and Neve's banter as well, and they seem to spend a lot of time together at the start of the game when there's not that many people at the Lighthouse yet, and Neve consistently shows up for Bellara during her story. i also like Neve and Lucanis together, they're very cute. there are definitely friendly relationships that feel natural, but then there are moments like where Taash bulldozes over Bellara when discussing Mythal's and Solas's relationship, and Bellara isn't allowed to snap back at Taash for being disrespectful. she (+ elven Rook) are also never allowed to call out Harding for her racism, we either have to agree or just not acknowledge it and always be really really nice to Harding specifically.... and i think little moments of friction within actual main plot beats and significant cutscenes (like is done with Davrin and Lucanis) would have made a lot of the dynamics more interesting rather than just dancing around it and relegating it to banter or limited interactions you could ultimately miss if you don't have them constantly in your party/aren't constantly checking in at the Lighthouse. also companion approval should actually matter and they should be allowed to vocally disapprove of Rook's choices.

it's really crazy that people don't know that their favorite shows are propaganda
like i am a law and order svu enjoyer and i have watched every inch of criminal minds but you all can see that the cops are made to be likable and they're not actually like that. right?

honestly it doesn't bug me that Jerry Seinfeld is bad at acting because the other main cast of Seinfeld are so good, Jerry's acting becomes a joke in and of itself.

My biggest problem with God and having a 'personal' relationship with him has always been the idea that we are to love and respect this 'being' more than we love and respect those we are surrounded by.
Its like hearing about stories you have never met and being expected to love this person more than you love your family or those that you interact with on a regular basis. I dont KNOW you. Why should I feel indebted to you when we have never spoken before, we have never interacted or held hands. I have never felt your warmth, nothing tangible has been felt from you. I, of course, when I participated in the church would feel the 'presence of god' while praying. But at the end of the day, I was alone in the room. It was just me crying and praying to myself. There was no god in the room with me.

seriously debated whether or not i was gonna say anything about this but i use this blog like a diary anyways so. whatever
chat i think i may be hyperfixated on rocky horror picture show. okay let me provide some background because that might seem kinda out of nowhere
for those of you who may not be aware: i am a theater kid. yes i know i can hear you booing through the screen. my college's theater group does a rhps shadow cast every year, and i am on the makeup crew for it this year. id seen the movie once years ago and liked it but also found it deeply uncomfortable (because i was in like eighth grade or something and people were all but fucking and sucking on screen).
i was front center in the audience last night and HOLY SHIT yeah that was cool (guy who played frank sat on my lap, i completed the herculean task of not passing out crying because a hot guy sat on my lap and was also yknow doing frank n furter things DIRECTLY IN FRONT ME like a for a big part of the show MAKING DIRECT EYE CONTACT its a miracle im not dead this guy almost killed me he looked back at me a few times while he was sitting on my lap and i was making the biggest dumbest nervous smile ever and im 99% he could feel me shaking we made eye contact at some point guys please send an ambulance)
guys please i know rhps is. deeply deeply questionable. but the movie is so stupid and the music is good i love it so much. also shadow casts are so epic THE CALLOUTS HELP. i have the callouts rattling around in my brain theyre all so funny.
im coming out as a faggot, a pathetic faggot, a rhps fan, AND a theater kid in the same post. i think one of you just needs to kill me

i have trans friends in real life (transmasc, transfem, nonbinary, etc) and actually what we do is when we meet we inquire as to what genders we were assigned at birth. and if they aren't the same we sit on opposite sides of the room and glare at each other. and occasionally start attacking each other with weapons for no reason. we read news articles about real life transphobia and then we burn them so we can ignore them. so we can continue sitting on opposite sides of the room glaring at each other. this is because we have absolutely nothing in common when it comes to our experiences as trans people due to the fact that we were born with different genitals. this is a normal way to interact with others btw.
