Woaaaah boy. I was in the Superbat tag and saw someone asking for recs and I got about 5 fics in before I realized that wouldn't fit in a reply and decided I should just make a whole post. I feel like I've read half of the Bruce/Clark tag on ao3 at this point and yet I still find more every time I look.

As a note, this post is heavily editorialized. These are all fics I've personally read and are here because I liked them and they come from my ao3 bookmarks. If you want better details about the fic, follow the links and check them out 🤷‍♀️ I'm a picky reader so the fact that it's on the list says a lot, though our tastes may vary.

Onto the recs! I'll organize them by ratings and then by length for simplicity and at the end I'll recommend some of my favorite SuperBat authors for further reading!

This one is SO much fun – Nobody believes Clark after he meets the supposed "flirty, stupid, entitled drunk" playboy billionaire Brucie Wayne when he says he's actually "clever, mischievous, and sober with an indecipherable ulterior motive."

OK THIS ONE MAKES MY HEART MELT IT'S SO FLUFFY AND SWEET I CAN'T. Like put this on your re-read when you're sad and need to feel like love and goodness exist list. Bruce breaks down in Kansas in 2006 years before BvS and meets young Clark.

It's just 20k of Clark simping for Bruce. That's it. That's the fic. He's a golden retriever and he's in love, Your Honor. Bruce is not unaffected, but the pining is glorious.

Technically a series of fics. Pure fluff. 1. Someone spots the Batman kissing Mild Mannered Reporter Clark Kent. Hijinks ensue. 2. Superman kissed Bruce Wayne in full view of several dozen phones. Now the whole world, including Lex Luthor, knows Superman has a boyfriend. But that's okay. Batman has a plan. 3. Deleted scenes from the How to Date a Superhero series, ruthlessly cut in most cases to prevent the Robins from taking over.

love me a fake dating AU. Summary: It takes a while for Batman and Superman to work things out, once Clark comes back from the dead. Pretending to date each other in order to explain why Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent are in the same place so often? Doesn't help as much as you might think.

like. bruh. susie did it again. This tag says it all: communication failure. I love this one though. Summary: Batman and Superman are fucking. Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent are a great cover for fighting crime, and also might be dating. Bruce and Clark have no idea what they're doing; but they definitely aren't going to be able to talk themselves into stopping.

A Night Off and sequel A Day Off by Mawiiish (~37k combined; first part is E, second is T)

One of my all-time favorites. My bookmark says 10/10 would read again soooooooo... 👀🤷‍♀️😅🥵

Bruce is enjoying one of his few nights off when a very persistent young man offers to buy him a drink. At first he's apprehensive; he's just here for a good time and this Clark seems to be looking for more than that. Then again, what harm can one drink do?

Clark wakes up to an empty bed and despite Bruce being honest from the start, he's still disappointed.

The Downsides to a Secret Identity by liodain (~42k rated E)

I'm currently reading this one – the summary from the author says it all, it's so good but sooo drama:

Bruce Wayne has taken a shine to Clark Kent, but Clark is more interested in the Bat of Gotham. The Bat, however, has it in for the Superman in a big way. Clark should probably have considered that before falling quite so hard. They're working together to track down some missing Kryptonian weaponry, after all...

50 Shades of Wayne by susiecarter (~161k rated E)

No but listen, this is actually so full of plot and emotional depth and not as much smut as you might think. It's a full-scale retelling of Batman v Superman but without them knowing each other's secret identities. I read it in one go... the reveal? Maybe the best I've ever read. Soooo many emotions. It's one of the few times I've read BDSM in a fic and it actually felt in character. I wasn't sure I would read it when I started, but it was a compelling read and extremely well done. Honestly, I'd read it again.

Summary: Jimmy always thought it was weird how close Grian and Joel were despite only meeting a month before he met them.

Turns out, Jimmy got the origins of their first meeting wrong.

Sorry for not actually writing their first meeting but I liked the idea of Jimmy not actually knowing how they really met and finding out by them telling him. I may write their actual first meeting some day but for right now, I like how this reveals it!

 There was something that Jimmy always thought was weird but never really brought up. And that was how Grian and Joel interacted with each other. They were obviously really close, especially with the way they were able to have silent conversations with each other, something that still freaked Jimmy out a bit whenever he noticed. But it didn’t really make any sense. If the two had met on the first day of school, that had only been a month or so before they met Jimmy. 

 It was a bit weird but Jimmy always just went along with it. After all, he got really close with Grian and Joel after only a few weeks. It was possible they just hit it off really well when they first met.

 That was what Jimmy chose to believe, up until one night when they were all hanging out and the topic of their childhoods came up. “And then Mr. Peters gave me detention on top of all that!” Joel exclaimed with a huff, wrapping up his story of how he got in trouble for pulling a prank that ended up backfiring on him. Both Grian and Jimmy laughed at the story, though Grian’s was a bit more subdued.

 “Oh yeah! I think I remember that happening. You probably should have done it in someone else’s class, Mr. Peters was always a stickler.” Grian commented. 

 Joel sighed, placing his chin in his hand as he leaned on his crossed legs. “Well yeah, but that’s why I did it to him in the first place.”

 Jimmy blinked, his laughter petering off as he glanced between the two humans. It was said so casually that Jimmy almost missed the implications of it. “Wait, you two…knew each other back then?”

 Grian and Joel’s attention fell onto him, sitting atop Joel’s nightstand. Joel’s eyebrows furrowed though he was still smiling. “Yeah? Grian and I have known each other since we were, like, 6.”

 Jimmy felt his entire view of the two of them spin on its head. “I…I didn’t know that.”

 “Really?” Grian asked, sharing a glance with Joel. “I kind of thought it was obvious.” They weren’t making fun or teasing him, Jimmy could tell it was a genuine thought. That didn’t make him feel any less embarrassed though.

 “Well I just-I just assumed you guys met at the start of college. Most roommates do. And besides, you two live like 8 hours apart! What was I supposed to think?” Jimmy said, trying his best to defend himself despite not being attacked on the subject.

 Grian hummed, leaning back against his desk chair. “I guess that’s fair. My family and I moved during my sophomore year of high school.”

 “Yeah, we were so sad when we found out. It was a hard goodbye.” Joel chimed in, thinking back on that time. It had definitely been hard, having his best friend move so far away. 

 “Oh.” Jimmy supposed that made sense. “So, what happened when Grian moved?” If they were borrowers, then something like moving would pretty much be the end of any sort of relationship. Borrowers had no way to communicate long distance and it was too dangerous to go and try to visit. But Jimmy knew humans had phones and things in order to keep in touch.

 “We kept it touch for the most part, although during our senior year we barely talked if at all.” Joel said.

 That was surprising to hear for Jimmy. “Really? Why?”

 Grian shrugged. “We were really busy. It sucks but we just really didn’t have the time to chat with everything going on.”

 “It’s actually really funny.” Joel said with a grin. “We had no idea the other was going to college here.”

 “Seriously?” Jimmy said with wide eyes.

 “Yeah, imagine our surprise when I walked into my assigned dorm and I saw Grian already there unpacking.” Joel said with an even wider grin. It was still crazy to think about even now, the coincidence of that even happening.

 Jimmy seemed to be thinking the same thing if his shocked expression was anything to go by. “That’s…actually insane.”

 “Right?” Grian said with a chuckle. “But yeah, we’ve known each other for years.”

 “I guess that does explain a lot.” Jimmy said. “I was always wondering how you two seemed so close for people who met a month before we did.”

 “Well, now you know.” Grian said and then moved his hand over to ruffle Jimmy’s hair with a finger. Jimmy let out a small screech of (fake) annoyance and tried to push Grian’s hand away. Grian, however, didn’t give in. Instead, moving his hand from Jimmy’s head to his entire body, scooping the borrower up. Jimmy yelped as his back was pressed up against Grian’s palm, fingers curling in.

 Jimmy gave one last push against the fingers around him before settling down. Grian brought him closer and grinned at him. “Giving up already?” Grian teased and Jimmy rolled his eyes.

 “No. For your information I wanted to be held, thank you very much.” Jimmy said with a huff.

 Joel watched this exchange with a smile, looking back and forth between his two best friends. “You know,” Joel started, getting Grian and Jimmy’s attention back. “I wonder what it would have been like if we found Jimmy as kids.”

 Grian blinked and looked down at Jimmy, all wrapped up in his hand. It was a weird thing to think about, meeting Jimmy way back when. Would things have gone down similarly? 

 Since Grian was watching Jimmy so closely, he noticed when Jimmy winced a bit. Confused by Jimmy’s reaction, Grian decided to call him out on it. “What’s wrong? Don’t think you could have kept up with us as kids?” Grian said in a teasing manner.

 “No, I just…” Jimmy trailed off, looking off somewhere in the distance as his grip around Grian’s finger tightened. Just enough where Grian could feel it. “Kids are dangerous to borrowers. More so than adults usually.”

 Joel’s eyes widened at what Jimmy was getting at. “So…what? You think something would have happened if we met as kids?” Joel tried not to feel hurt, knowing kids could be very careless, but it was hard.

 Jimmy shrugged, feeling a bit awkward talking about it. “I’m not saying for sure but…it’s possible.”

 Grian hummed, his eyes narrowed in thought at Jimmy’s words. He wanted to say he had been a pretty careful kid, that if they had met Jimmy way back when then nothing bad would have happened. But…he couldn’t. None of them had any way of knowing how things could have gone. And if Grian and Joel had reacted so poorly in the first place to Jimmy as adults then…

 Well, maybe it was best not to think about those what ifs.

 Grian stood up from his desk chair, pushing it back toward his desk as he all but fell onto Joel’s bed next to him, being careful of Jimmy still tucked in his hand. He brought said hand up to chest level and out enough where Joel could clearly see Jimmy as well. “Well, none of that really matters anyway. We’re here and we’re friends and that’s all that matters.” Grian said, trying to bring the subject down to a close.

 Thankfully, it worked.

 Jimmy smiled and nodded, his previous demeanor gone. “Yeah, you’re right.”

 Grian could tell Joel didn’t seem as quick to let things go. Still not really over what Jimmy had insinuated. But Grian gave Joel a look that said they would talk later, without Jimmy present, and Joel sighed. Grian’s sign that Joel wouldn’t say anything for the time being. Instead, Joel looked down at Jimmy and, despite his hurt, he gave a genuine smile. “Yeah.” Joel agreed with the two and then reached out his hand.

 Grian allowed Joel to take Jimmy from him, watching fondly as Joel held Jimmy close in the palm of his hand. “Besides, we act like we’ve been friends for years anyway. I don’t think it would have made much of a difference if we met earlier or not.”

 Jimmy blinked and thought that over. “Huh. I guess you’re right.” Obviously there were some things that would get even better with time. Jimmy still found himself a little nervous sometimes around Grian and Joel. The size difference was just…very big. But Jimmy thinks, eventually, even that little bit of instinctual nervousness would go away.

 Grian glanced back and forth between the two with a grin. “...Did I tell you about the time in junior year when I pranked the school council president by growing wild mushrooms in his locker?”

 Both of his friends’ attention turned to him, eyes wide with astonishment. “Wait, seriously?” Joel said with a grin.

 “Okay, you have to tell us this story.” Jimmy said, shifting slightly in Joel’s hand to get more comfortable.

 Grian hummed and thought back to that time. “Well, it really all started when Scar won the election…”

When your father told you that your cousin Eric was visiting, you couldn't believe it. The last time you saw him, you must have been around 14 or 15. He was a Tully, not a Stark, but he stayed with you and your siblings in Winterfell for around a year. You guys had a great relationship. He treated you like a sister, and you treated him like a brother.

Now, he was visiting Kings Landing for some trading matter.

You ask your father to tell Eric to meet you by the gardens after his meeting. You're wandering along them, waiting for him, when you hear a familiar voice.

"Bug!" Eric calls you, using the nickname he gave you when you were kids. "Or should I say Lady Y/N?"

You turn around to find a handsome young man in his late twenties. His face remains the same, though, his copper hair on his face and a dimple on his right cheek.

"Eric!" You smile. "Look at you."

"I could say the same about you. You've grown, bug." He smiles as well. "Come here." He says, opening his arms.

You hug him joyfully. "Gods, I can't believe it's been so long." You hear him say.

When you separate, he keeps an arm around your shoulders.

"Let's walk." You say, smiling. "I'm sure you have many things to tell me."

Sandor enters the gardens following the Prince. He stops abruptly when he looks at his left and spots you smiling at a man he doesn't know, his arm around you. You look at him smiling, say something, and start walking with him.

It makes his blood boil. This is what you were doing while he was working? When he's decided he's going to approach you and kill that fucker, he hears the Prince's voice.

"Come, dog." He says, motioning for the opposite direction.

He gulps, trying to calm down, and follows Joffrey.

It's earlier than usual for Sandor to come to your chambers, so the knock on your door surprises you. You open it to find Sandor with a cold stare. It's not his usual angry because of Joffrey face, though. Something's different tonight.

"Sandor!" You say, still a bit surprised.

"Aye." He grunts. "Oh, maybe you were expecting someone else?" His stare is cold as he walks in.

"What do you mean?" You say, frowning while you close your door.

"Oh, you know what I mean." He says.

You stare at him, one of your eyebrows up in your forehead.

"The redhead cunt you were having so much fun with before." He groans.

You can't believe what you're hearing. "Sandor, what..." You exclaim. "Oh gods, are you...jealous?"

He doesn't answer, looking away from you.

"I can't believe you're being a fucking kid about this." You mumble, shaking your head.

"What did he tell you, eh?" He says with a cold voice. "Promised you a bunch of fucking things, I'm sure. I bet he can give you much more than me."

"I truly can't believe this is happening." You sigh in disbelief. "Do you really think so poorly of me?"

"He was fucking hugging you, Y/N." He groans. "Do you think I didn't see you? You were all smiles. Fucking walking with him. Did you tell him all about yourself? Let him fucking court you?"

You snort, truly not believing his behavior.

"You find it fucking funny?" He asks, raising his voice.

"No, Sandor." You say. "I find it fucking sad."

His face turns into confusion.

"I find it sad that you think that I would just forget about you, about everything we've been through. You don't trust me." Your voice is harsh.

"I know what I saw." He groans.

"He's my fucking cousin!" You shout. "You're here being a fucking asshole about me hugging my cousin!"

His face suddenly changes, realization hitting him.

"Your cousin?" He asks, his voice much lower now.

"Yes, Sandor. My cousin." You say, irritated. "I don't..." Your voice breaks. "I don't know what we're doing together if you're not able to trust me." Your voice had gone from angry to sad.

"Y/N..." He says, taking a step towards you.

"Leave." You hiss.

"Love.. " He tries.

"Don't." You say, sending him a death stare. "Just go, Sandor. I need to think."

He looks at you, sadness now in his eyes, before turning and leaving your chambers. You fall asleep with tears in your eyes that night.

The next morning, when you open your door, you find a set of candles, which Sandor knows you love, and a note in his handwriting.

You take the candles inside and read the note: "I'm sorry. I love you."

It makes you think about what happened yesterday again. You stand by what you said. He needs to trust you if you want your relationship to work. Nevertheless, you have to admit you don't know how you've reacted if it was him instead of you. You want to think you would have asked him about it, but sometimes jealousy can get the worst of someone.

When you see him later that day, every bit of you that was still angry goes away. He gives you his best puppy eyes, and you smile at him. You give him a little nod, and he understands what that means.

That night, when you hear the knock, you open the door with a soft smile. After closing it, Sandor suddenly throws his arms around you.

"I'm sorry, love." He whispers against your hair. "I was an immature cunt."

You hug him back, putting your head on his chest.

"It's alright." You mumble. "Just... Give me some credit."

"I will." He says, pulling back to look at you. "I love you, Y/N."

"I love you too." You say, caressing his face. "Now kiss me, you idiot."

He smiles, leaning in and crashing his lips against yours. His forgiving kisses soon turn desperate, needy.

"Sandor?" You moan.

He pulls back a bit. "Hmmm?"

"Make it up to me." You say, smirking.

He smiles mischievously, picking you up and throwing you on the bed. And gods, he does.

You guys, my brain took like from April (I think) to finish this piece. I don't remember the inspiration making this, but it's part of the redesign I'm doing for a fanfic and just in general fun fluffyness becuz this fandom gets too sad sometimes. This was supposed to be done some time ago, but mental health got in the way and also the fact I didn't like the initial final sketch, so I started over, took me some time. And bruh if that wasnt enough, the app I'm using also kept corrupting or losing sketches so I don't have everything together to show the process. But anything is better than nothing. Also, please don't mind the shading, I'm still figuring out light placement and layering, especially on mobile.

Anyways, here's the final product!

I saw some funny sketches of Alastor being carried all the time so I made a funny headcannon that he likes to be picked up or is indifferent to it, just as long the hand and body placement is appropriate with certain people (others that are close have more leniency). I don't really have a story here but I like to say that this trio hug happened becuz it's one of those once in a blue moon family get together where Husk and Alastor aren't in a powerplay and are actually enjoying each other company with Niffty being a small adorable grandma making sure her boys are okay and slightly disturbed/amused by her antics and stories.

With Husk, I kept him somewhat true to his character design, just changed outfits and details on his persona like his symbols, marks, and colors. These symbols will be emphasized in another fanart I'm cooking up. I also placed "brands" that symbolize his deal and ownership status with Alastor. These brands, instead of being actually branded on his person, are branded on any piece of clothing he wears as long as they are visible (shirt, pants, hats, etc). One is on his collar shirt, which equals to Alastor and another on his wraps on his feet of his own Overlord status. In my rewrite, I have it that in order for Husk to maintain his deal of keeping his power is to keep running his business of gambling but with restriction. I have a lot more to write about this, but I'm saving it for his redesign posts in my redesign series. Also, a funny lil hat on the side becuz it's part of his getup that got knocked over in the hug session.

With Niffty, I was going to keep her the same, just some extra bug detail to her person, but I scrapped it off. Instead, I have her as a hybrid of a poodle dog and bug. She and Alastor have a bumpy first introduction becuz of her dog hybrid side, but eventually, they worked it out in a weird, chaotic coworker/roommate relationship. More on that on her redesign post soon. She also has a brand of Alastor’s ownership over her on her apron. She doesn't have much on her appearance but her personality and chaotic mindset makes up for it :3 She's the same crazy lil lady, but with some common sense and sort of old lady behavior from her.

With Alastor, I changed his hair from my redesign, but I think I'm still going to change it with every drawing I do, so it's not permanent. He also has a brand, just not visible, unlike Husk and Niffty. This isn't from his choice of wanting to hide that he's owned but from his owner that nothing should be given away from his disappearance to not ruin his mission. However, there's still that hidden joke that every time Alastor walks, he will feel that brand on his hoof so that no matter where he goes, he is reminded of where he stands. He doesn't look gray here like in his redesign due to the lighting, but I like to say that it will probably change to another headcannon. For instance, depending on how 'human' he feels at the moment, his features and skin color will change. When he's not all powered up and feels at peace, he's more soft and human looking despite his reputation and animal characteristics. But when's he's powered up or is threatened, then his 'humanity' is zapped away, turning his look more demonic/inhuman/alien. I'm still playing with this headcannon, so I may scrap or add on to this.

Thomas and Alastair were friends whether they wanted anyone to know. you don’t go to museums and movies with someone that you loathe. even if it wasn’t shown in the beginning, Alastair and Thomas were slightly friends

see, this is why I’m not big on their development in the beginning of the series because now it’s as if hey they really aren’t friends or ever were and Alastair’s words aren’t as affective. what he said was cruel but imagine how much more devastating it would hurt Thomas if he felt more for Alastair. I think it would have been interesting to see more of a relationship and friendship blossom in the first two books instead. I mean that’s how I would have played it but I didn’t write the books (obviously)

Alastair’s words hurt no matter what and maybe I’m just a super depressive dark person but it would be more heartbreaking if their friendship meant a lot more and it was a little more obvious. I enjoy subtlety, I really do. I get if CC was going for a “they hardly talk or are seen together but behind closed doors, they’re actually friendly” but it doesn’t come off that way to me. maybe to others but not to me. I’m just saying that part could have been handled better

because imagine Thomas hearing “they’re not friends” and Thomas thinking WELL actually- we kind of were until I found out this massive secret and now it hurts to look at Alastair but I can’t stop looking at him. because hiding this whole friendship or relationship and then having it come out in the last book feels very lazy and messy to me

and to have bridgestock say “he’s mad with grief” when Alastair is glad to be done with his deadbeat father is hilarious. I think Alastair if we actually got his pov (that page doesn’t count) has mixed feelings but I don’t think he would be too terribly sad about it. Elias ruined Alastair’s life and Alastair is not one to forget that. BUT WE DONT KNOW BECAUSE ALASTAIR AND HIS POV IS OFF LIMITS TO US

I always viewed Thomas and Alastair as knowing more about the other than anyone else does. none of the merry thieves seem to get that Thomas is gay or seems to hint at it

Alastair has been trying to protect Thomas all this time so yes I do stand by the fact that this should have been focused on Thomas and Alastair and should have had both their pov as well as the sanctuary scene should have included both pov

I really don’t care about CC and her excuses of “they don’t have a pov because we as readers can’t know” or whatever excuse she has lined up. not including Alastair pov and leaving him, Matthew, Thomas, Christopher behind just to focus on James and Cordelia is an actual fucking crime

Alastair and Thomas deserve to have not only more focus on their characters but have their relationship developed as well

but also- Thomas, I know it’s nerve wrecking to know the man you love is protecting you still and cares for you but you can thank him later

Favorite thing: His mental illness, obviously. There’s so many things wrong with him that are also things that are wrong with me. He’s just like me fr (bad thing)

Least favorite: I’m gonna be so vulnerable right now but his outfit is so fugly. Like, he rocks it, but it is HELL to draw and I personally rank characters in my head by how fun they are to draw. I love him enough to try though.

Favorite line: I like it when he full on admits that the Tarnished terrifies him. We are very scary and he’s just a little guy. He knows the only thing keeping the Tarnished from murder is that they have a little crush on him lol.

brOTP: Rogier doesn’t have real friends, He only knows how to abandon people after he’s convinced himself that they hate him. However, I do see the relationship with the player Tarnished as the only platonic thing he’s got going on. They are buddies and he’s not used to that. He can’t leave this one behind because he physically cannot move, and that’s probably for the best tbh.

OTP: you know who I am.

nOTP: Honestly I don’t really have nOTPs. Rogier is slutty enough that you can throw him at anyone and it can work. I guess I’m not too privy on when people portray him and Fia with anything close to a healthy relationship, but that’s not the ship itself’s fault.

Unpopular opinion: Not unpopular within our particular circle, but with the community as a whole. He’s a pathetic little weasel of a man with sad eyes and undiagnosed mental disorders. I love him but therapy can’t fix him.

ok so so far i have. one chapter thats jsut like. a rewrite picking up right after 13.11 that's like "hey what if the way the conversation about jessie liking sy/sy putting up walls went Wasnt wildly homophobic and transmisogynistic." i think it's fine and probably about as edited as it's going to get. i'm trying to add to that at least one more chapter that's about like. The ensuing shitshow (good, funny) of sy being really bad and awkward about actually starting up the relationship with jessie bc hes nervouse. but i'm struggling with finding how to reasonably plotwise add a chase scene/the general shenanigans i want to fit in it so i'm worried i'm gonna get stuck there. the ultimate goal for it would be it being a 2 or 3 chapter affair max that ends in sy & jessie properly starting their relationship. if i get really horrendously stuck i might just post the first chapter alone but id like to try to believe in myself

i have a few other snippets that were just basically like me doing the writing equivalent of doodling like. the sleeping beauty one i posted on tumblr + one re the line abt sy gifting jessie the same pen twice by accident + one re my 'why arent cigarettes in twigland super cool and packed with all kind of random shit' complaint. the only other thing thats. I Guess Finished. is like a snippet re 'hey its fucking crazy that wildbow had jessie pose as sy's fiancee when they infiltrated an academy and it was just literally never talked about' that Spiraled. and now it's 3 consecutive longer scenes that are kinda about how i think jessie & sy should be stupid in love, and kinda about how i think we should kill wildbow for not writing jessie being the world's best most functional fit for sy's psychosexual fixations, and kinda about how i think helen should have a Weird dynamic with them, and kinda about how i think it's dumb that sy never gets to have a more developed/understanding relationship with helen despite spending months living with her as a young adult. realistically i should show it to people who are not my friends at this point but Maybe I'me Shy.

and i also wanna keep working on/finish one i started that's a rewrite/continuation of a scene during the black woods quarantine bit that's about like. their fucked up sad little 17-18yo old married couple with Mortality Imminent vibe. but i feel like i wanna go back to that After i finish the stuff that's chronologically earlier? because i started it first, and i think it helped and was fun as a 'where do they go' thing, but i dunno. i might want to get things more straight in my head with the earlier stuff first even if not everything has to be perfectly consistent with each other.

Obviously a full length episode would be more detailed and have something more going for it, if one actually puts thought into said episode.

But then completely ignore the fact that other shows, which follow a similar formula of going through the same beats within each episode and are fun to watch and entertaining.

Hello...Scooby Doo? Perhaps one of the most successful franchises out there and guess what they did?

Each episode had the gang go around solving mysteries, cooked up by someone haunting a place.

To say nothing that the Grimoire is basically a free "do whatever you want" card of plot magic, which they could have done interesting things with....but that got flushed down the toilet the moment Season 2 started.

But let's put a pin in that for a moment...right...fans also wanna say that...

"Well...the show is about Blitz and his relationships and we should explore Hell!"

...

Ok so tell me then....why is it for 2 Seasons now, the only guy that Blitz has truly interacted with for any length of time and development...is Stolas? Who he has NO RELATIONSHIP with?! The two know diddly squat about one another, even within just sex according to Full Moon they know diddly squat.

Instead of you know...the other actual main characters of this show(Moxxie, Millie and Loona) and the other side characters who he had actual relationships with(Verosika, Fizz and Barbie). You know, the characters that are actually meaningful to Blitz for his own character development?

Fans also wanna say

"Well not every relationship is perfect."

HI YES...you realize that Blitz' relationships with the aforementioned characters WASN'T PERFECT either right?!

Stolas became an irrelevant character with introducing Asmodean Crystals and the fact that I.M.P. was killing in Hell(which makes S1 also pointless). Blitz had zero reason to approach Stolas in Apology Tour, other than...because the writing forced him to do so. He never had to approach Stolas ever again....but he did so. I can only imagine what sort of plot contrivance were going to get later, in order for the two to be together.

But let's just sideline all those other characters...which you could build 2 whole full Seasons around, for a character who doesn't matter anymore.

It's funny how it said to be also "exploring Hell."

But what does that even really mean, when we don't really explore Hell? All were getting into as far as 'depth' is concerned, is Stolas and that whole drama involving him.

Yeah sure, we have seen some other Rings...but honestly? That's bare minimum, we aren't actually getting into the details here....we don't really see how other Hellborn live, the worldbuilding is just shallow on the whole.

Even the Goetia is pretty shallow, because it's all having to revolve around Stolas and how 'sad' he is....it's just not anything interesting.

Also they say "explore Hell."

Yet they have a business that operates OUTSIDE of Hell? Thus taking away any sort of further exploration of Hell, when the episodes take place on Earth. Yeah that's really logical.

But circling back a moment to the whole assassination thing....

I don't think anyone's saying that they should have just stuck to assassination hijinks. What I'm seeing though, is the focus should have stuck to that as well as exploring the relationships between the I.M.P. members....was not the pitch for Helluva Boss something like...

"Join these assassins as they take out hits as well as learn to survive in Hell and eachother."

^ I'm kinda phrasing it weird, as I'm sure that's not really the case, but I'm pretty sure it's something along the lines of that with the description for the show.

But what do we really have? 3 out of the 4 main characters are just sidelined, a side character has basically become a main character and even the only original main character out of the 4, is just getting shit on and doesn't need to be around the side main character anymore in a realistic sense, but writing is forcing it.

Anyway I'll pause here, as this got really long winded.

Nah, you are right you summed up everything wrong with this series. It got lost at the beginning of season two when it showed that they started focusing on Stolas. And from there lost the premise and as a result the quality as dropped.

I finished starforce 1-! I played the dx patch, ofc, I hunted the sp bosses but I gave up when deep space asked for a complete standard library like god bless dex filling is not my passion. Maybe one day I’ll come back to it. 25 hours across 6 days… it’s a bit sad actually, if I were a kid this would’ve taken years but now I just blitz through it in less than a week… aw.

But anyway I really loved it… I’ve never played mmsf1 before, only watched a playthrough and anime years ago so while I was aware of some major twists (pat/rey and AM-ian mega) and the boss lineup, I had forgotten a lot of the smaller details so it was still really fun… I really love geo’s character progression, depressed lonely kid who pushes others away but ends up being saved by people who insist on being in his life, insist on dragging him around and including him and consistently reaching out to him… as well as geo ultimately deciding to move on because he meets someone with the same pain as him and wants to reach out and help, so that she doesn’t fall into the same pit that he does, ending with the both of them moving forward and deciding to be strong together… it’s something I relate to/understand heavily so honestly I’m pretty floored that this is in a game for 10 year olds. If I had a nickel for every time a kid’s game smacked me over the head with its writing I’d have 2 nickels etc etc (tho it’s probably the fact that it is a kid’s game in the first place that makes me underestimate it then get surprised when it has good writing).

Geo and Mega’s relationship is so touching to me… I really love the dynamic of “oh dear god I’m stuck with this guy” but in the end it was because of mega first that geo started caring about other things, started trying new things and experiences for mega’s sake… and in return mega does learn more about caring for other people and being kinder too. It’s a minor detail that I haven’t seen anybody point out before but for transer requests in the early game areas (ie echo ridge) mega is often dismissive about other ppl’s problems (his dialogue along the lines of “ah geez let’s get this over with”/“yeah? let them figure out their own problem.”) but later on in the game he seems… disappointed? when megaman decides not to take on a request. It’s a really cute minor detail that I love. Sadly I don’t have any screenshots to prove this but you gotta trust me bro. Or you can look it up, compare say, echo ridge requests vs dream island or time square reqs.

And on mega- it’s actually very funny to me when you compare his sf1 and sf3 concept art, lol. In the art book it says that they redesigned him to have more upright posture and “handsome” appearance it’s killing me 😭 he’s a domesticated cat… geo tamed him….

Anyway! I just started zerker x ninja last night, played a lil bit of it- unlike sf1 I never watched a playthrough, only the anime, but honestly I totally forgor anything that was in it. Apart from there’s 3 main villains? And solo, god I love solo I can’t wait to meet him properly… but that was all from a rewatch of the anime op, so. First impressions of the game is- holy fucking shit mega follows geo around when you put on the visualiser?????? 😭😭😭😭😭oh my GOD. this is EVERYTHING. Tears in my eyes actually ohhh this is probably the best feature of the game. My god. It’s so cute….!!! Mega’s always by your side, geo… he’s like a following pokemon, lol. That’s a good thing. Number 2- oh, you can walk on the ground as megaman now, cool that’s like sf3- WHY DID I GET AN ENCOUNTER ON THE GROUND. When I tell you my jaw dropped…. Lmao it feels like my safe space got robbed from me </3 viruses should NOT be bothering me on the ground.

Frankly my initial opinion on sf2 was soured because of the negativity surrounding it online, which, fair, half an hour in and I can already see the translation errors… and I’m playing the lowered encounter patch so hopefully the rates won’t be too problematic for me… and ngl people saying that the game having a less heavy and serious tone unlike sf1 and sf3 is a bit of a let down, but ahh, I’ll play regardless and see how it goes. I’m excited to meet solo, at least-! Sf2 is entirely new sf content to me, so I’m way excited to experience it for the first time…!! After this I will join everybody else in the drought 💀

Honestly, I didn’t really like episodes seven or eight that much? They weren’t necessarily bad but I personally found them unfulfilling.

[Spoilers]

First of all, Fiore and Ellie were weird boots to me, I figured they were for sure set to go to the merge (it seemed like Ellie was building up to be a stronger antagonist than she was, Gabellie angst was mostly unfulfilled, Fiore didn’t make up with Alec, I think Fiore and Jake would’ve been a cool alliance, Jake and Ellie’s rivalry was barely touched on, etc). And while I think Gabby will be an interesting villain, I still feel like her motive being Ellie’s elimination is more underwhelming than her motive being Ellie’s betrayal; also Gabby’s character relies very heavily on Ellie, and I really wish we saw her make more decisions divorced from their relationship.

Also I didn’t really like Ally and Jake’s beef. Jake is my favorite character but this episode he really just bitched the whole time and it feels like he’s devolving back to his mid season one self. If he’s meant to be healing this season, let him heal, and if he’s supposed to be an antagonist, let him be an antagonist. I feel like the writers sometimes forget which direction they’re taking him in. If this was spurred on by finding out Tom has a “boyfriend”, the anger should be directed at Tom more (maybe he doesn’t have an outlet because he doesn’t want to hurt Tom? Idk). Like Ally is such a bad target for him, I know she’s friends with Ashley and he’s insecure about that because Ashley’s really the only person he has left in the game, but like…I dunno, their beef just isn’t entertaining, I guess it’s in character for him especially if this is him sort of descending into hatred but I just personally feel like it’s unnecessary the way they went about it, I feel like quiet sabotage or him having internal conflict about Ally but playing nice would be more enjoyable to watch. I’m also kinda sad that Aiden, Jake, and Riya didn’t interact more in the challenge; I’d love to see Aiden and Jake actually have a conversation, or Riya and Jake team up. Jake and Aiden should especially talk now that Jake knows Aiden’s not a threat since Tom has this supposed boyfriend, like I feel like we’ve kicked the Tomden drama bucket now that we’ve had this reveal— and if we haven’t, Riya hates Aiden too, so I’m not sure why Jake and Riya aren’t interacting.

Aside from this, I did like Tess (as usual), the challenge was very fun (loved the space theme and the outfits), and Alec and Riya’s friendship is pretty cool. Also I don’t really like Yul, but he was kinda funny this episode, I think I just really like his voice acting lol. I’m also excited to see them do more with Emily, and Trevor’s feelings for Derek being confirmed was kinda adorable. And of course, as usual, the animation and designs and VA’s were fantastic. I think I’ll appreciate the episode more once I see how it plays into the entire season and know where they’re taking the characters, but for now I just felt like they made some questionable writing decisions that I would personally change. Sorry this is long, I had a lot of thoughts and I also suffer from Chronic Jake Brain Rot.

Akechi... He's not really THAT unpopular (not like Takahashi and co, who have like 2.7 fans) but it still makes me sad when he's excluded from Psychickers content and from the friend group in general... </3

Come on guys, he's literally so funny... He's fundamentally a sweet guy who's villain-coded and annoying as fuck. He's masterminding shit behind the scenes to create nice surprises for his friends. He's infodumping at every slight opportunity. He knows everything all the time. He's telling everyone to hydrate and going to the bathroom 10x a day. He's both nipping at heels and guarding Saiki's flock.

Genuinely Akechi's general attitude with Saiki is "I'm yours, you're mine, what's mine is yours, so what's yours is mine" especially with regards to Saiki's friends and perhaps the cake in the fridge.

He's so smart that he can take on people with actual psychic powers and he could definitely best Kusuke, but he gets stonewalled by Nendo and is weak to very beautiful girls lmao. Bi/pan king lmao.

I think most people are too scared/lazy about writing out rants for him. Valid but if it's not important you can literally just use copypasta or straight Wikipedia text.

He's also just not sexy as an anime boy so people tend to not ship him as much </3 Even though his possible relationships are all soooo interesting because he's so bizarre lol. He's such a wifeguy (gender neutral) and he basically knows everything all of the time, whether he tries to or not. Plus he's mega ride or die + down for whatever.

He can clearly tone down the ranting too (see: him being adorable for Kurumi and being pretty chill when hanging out with Saiki except for demanding that they actually do something together) and he's pretty emotionally intelligent, so he'd be a great partner as long as the other person can put up with/enjoy his idiosyncrasies...

I think the most fun/interesting relationships for him are Kusuo, Aiura, and Kusuke btw. And I could see fwb type situations with Kuboyasu & Toritsuka even if they can't put up with each other for too long lmao.

His gender feelings are neat to explore too, and it's fun giving him a little more autistic flavor <3

okay, so the main issue you need to keep in mind first off is that i don't really care for the PCs very much. not anything special, just the same thing as always where, by proxy of having literally no writing or Anything about them or describing what they were like, they never felt like actual characters to me and the recent work in roadtrip and the like, trying to flesh them out, is trying to work uphill and only makes them seem criminally flat and boring to me. i could tell you far less about vicky and what she cares about and what her inner world and emotions are like than i could tell you about scott or about valerie or about basically any other characters. and this, combined with how much the fandom loves them and uses them as self inserts (not a bad thing necessarily, very much intended by design) has not greatly endeared me to them either. they're charming little designs, and IMO they should have remained that way.

which is always going to have to be the disclaimer i give with all the PC ships, you know? i don't really know how to describe the PC side of the equation, which means its very hard to describe the relationship between the characters. one of these characters is much more interesting and dynamic, designed with a synergy between their personality, appearance, history, plot, and voice, and the other looks pretty with a personality coming in two games later.

i understand a lot of people love PC ships! and they love the PCs! i understand they mean a lot to a lot of people!

its just also sad that unfortunately they do not mean very much to me and that's going to impact how i think of them in ships.

so... for polly and vicky, we have someone who believes in celebrating life and love and the moment while you have it, who is very aware of the ups and downs of life and has dealt with her own, who is smarter than what people take her for but cares less about correcting this as much as she cares about using it to pull the wool over their eyes, but who is sometimes careless and prone to getting carried away, sometimes forgetting to look back and make sure others can keep up with her or that they haven't become collateral damage. and you have vicky, who is smart and spunky and intense, surely, with a perfectionist streak.

i think, on my first impulse, that polly might have an issue, since i imagine vicky would easily pick up on how smart polly is, and while polly doesn't mind the cognitive engagement and fun that comes with knowing how to pick apart something complex, i also don't see herself as particularly wanting to paint herself as a "smart person". vicky feels like she might tend to want to push polly towards that, as perfectionism tends to also end up projected onto others, especially others who have potential but aren't using it, and again, polly doesn't really want to use it like that. she's not ambitious, she's just doing what feels good, exploring and finding new avenues for pleasure and to sate her curiosity. polly wants engagement, less so fulfilling a prerequisite list of expectations.

vicky certainly gets into a lot and she throws herself in with her full heart, and polly does something similar, but polly's less committed to the outcome. she's not trying to succeed, necessarily, and i don't think she actually cares if she fails or loses so long as she enjoyed herself doing so. polly manages to succeed and to be damn good at things mostly out of rule of funny, but also because she is actually sincerely skilled, just skilled in an entirely different way than what vicky's used to.

honestly, i think these two might get on each other's nerves a lot? vicky seems to me like too much of a tryhard, too high strung for polly, and polly just doesn't care about all of the things that vicky has used to measure herself by, seemingly making a mockery out of them even when she's not trying to, chronically unable to take anything seriously. this feels like an extremely bad combination to me, something that, while it could work in the right circumstances (because, realistically, every potential combination of personalities could as a relationship, don't take this as me giving relationship advice or saying what will or won't work), isn't something that i see happening easily or even something that could happen in these circumstances. i kinda see this as the worse version of polly x liam, where the other party is too stiff and too set in their own ways and own way of looking at things to consider polly's own perspective and feelings, and to respect her own fears of commitment in a way that isn't just judging her for feeling that way.

I loooooved this new chapter, it’s always so fun when more other people are thrown into the mix. But I gotta say, I’m kinda getting more and more sad for the reader 🥺

Like, I know the situation is complicated and everything but it feels a bit like it’s always her having the short end of the stick? She’s always the one that has to be understanding and okay with everything. And it’s just like the little things? Like Jensen could’ve put on the ring in the car instead of right in front of her. But he did that and just tells her that’s how it has to be. And then after the convention, he doesn’t even make sure she gets home safe and just kinda left her on her own to get home and idk it just makes me feel a bit sad for her 🥺

I hope Jensen actually puts in effort to further their relationship and puts in effort to work this situation out. Of course it’s hard with divorce stuff, especially with kids around too. But jeez man just get a good damn lawyer and do something about it!

But I still love this chapter, grumpy Misha is funny! It’s gonna be hilarious once he eventually finds out lol

I'm totally with you. I understand you 100%. But honestly, most men don't think that far 😂 sad but true. I actually try to package the story (of course everything is just fiction) as realistically and logically as possible. Although I also have to say that I write Jensen definitely nicer and more sensitive than I think of him 😂 I think that guy can be a real asshole and is absolutely not as emotional as I'm trying to make him seem here.

Back to the point, well "close to reality": let's assume it were true, I think the whole thing would be sooo much more complicated and difficult for "the new girl". I actually have to stop myself again and again and remind myself: come on, this is supposed to be a romantic story with a touch of drama and not the other way around 😂

So far, just a little glimpse into my head 😅.

But, for a “simple reader POV”: fuck, absolutely! He should get a fucking lawyer and leave his shitty wife. The reader is already having to endure a lot and it's only going to get worse, so yes, believe me, I feel sorry for her too. (The ring scene stung 🥲) Oh, and the scene with misha finding out is one of my favorites 🙈 just because of the little glimpse of Jensens feelings about that 😂.

There will be a lot more situations where I would like to take Y/N in my arms while beating up Jensen 😂.

Omg thank you for the ask!!! 💕 Damn, I don't know which to really choose. I take so long to write anything that I find it hard to judge things; and especially as then years have gone by regarding my posted and finished fanfics it makes me difficult to choose. For fanfics I really have a bunch of fandoms I've periodically cobbled something together (as a result each fic rec is from a different show) and many I haven't read in years; but I've quite enjoyed the chance to go back and actually read them.

#1 - Blackbird series (Trigun (Trimax), Vashwood)

Ahhh this doesn't count as two right? It's my most recent work composed of Blackbird (M, 5.5k) and I'm no pale faced saint (E, 11k) both which I really enjoyed writing. Blackbird is vignettes of Vash and Wolfwoods relationship (if they were lovers) over the course of trimax. I'm no pale faced saint is a story tucked sometime within the same au when Wolfwoods and Vash are travelling, and during their stop Wolfwoods is asked to perform a funeral; later the two of them talk about promises in amongst foreshadowing of what will later occur and sexy times. It was also the first time I forayed into writing explicit fanfic which was certainly interesting and perhaps fun? Still not sure haha. Both are pretty bittersweet. Technically it's supposed to be a triptych, with a third and final installation which I've... not finished writing. Fingers crossed I'll get around to having some time to finish it eventually... It's all planned out so I just need to sit down and write the damned thing.

#2 - Tracing Ink on Skin (JJK, Satosugu, M, 34k)

A yakuza au fic that I'm still working on, that I originally started because there was none of those fics when the first season had come out. The premise is they were schoolmates, and lose touch after, Satoru the next in line for the head of one of the big Yakuza families, only to be reunited when Suguru finds Satoru bleeding out on his doorstep. I'm reccing it cause it's a bit newer. It's also my first long fic which is exciting but also haunts me a bit since it's also definitely not a priority, since I keep neglecting to write new chapters... shoves my 10 newer WIP fanfics into the drawer guiltily. Again I've got the whole thing planned out, I just need to actually write it. Also part of me wants to rewrite some areas, ack!

#3 - Chain Restaurants and the Beginnings of Friendship (Dorohedoro, Risu x Aikawa, T, 3.5k)

Also in the scheme of things newer... Premise is the two of them go for lunch right after Aikawa kills the teacher. I like this one with it's fun twist and actually intended it as a part of a series of short vignettes, as I had more ideas... as you can see I'm great at finishing things. I've heard there's supposed to be a second season of Dorohedoro coming out which might help kick me back into the mood. I really should trawl through my WIP files...

#4 - Warm Lights on Sleepless Nights. (Golden Kamuy, SugumotoxOgata, G, 3k)

Premise is it's a vignette of a modern au of Sugumoto essentially waking up from a nightmare, and remembering the time that Ogata was also awake at the same time before his betrayal, and the possible implications of that.

#5 - Antiform Haunting (Gotham, Edward Nygma x Oswald Cobblepot, T, 3k)

Premise is on some unseen scenes after Ed betrays Oswald, and dreams of him, leading up to the scene where Ed hallucinates Ed. I liked this one better then the other, softer fic I had written on the pair, which more people seemed to have enjoyed; how funny.

I'm ignoring how clearly all the pairs I write for are tragic character relationships (or perceived relationships lol) here. Nope, I don't know what you're talking about, I totally am not addicted to bittersweet or sad writing.
